Speaker 1 (00:13):
Hi, my name is Sherry and welcome to my podcast,
silver Tea, and this episode isabout living with neuropathy.
I was in a bed the other nightand my feet were hurting so bad
the burning, the tingling, thenerves so I thought to myself

(00:34):
how many people has gottenneuropathy through chemo
treatment?
So I wanted to talk about it.
I wanted to figure out how Ican, without having to do
surgery or taking any moremedicine.
I wanted to figure out how canI ease this pain.

(00:56):
So neuropathy is nerve damage.
From when you have chemotherapy, your nerves they tingle, they
burn and they happen bilaterally.
So that was interesting to mebecause I realized that both
feet were hurting.
As a matter of fact, I hadneuropathy in both my hands and

(01:17):
in my feet and my hands wouldtingle, they were hurt and I
would just oh, it's just sopainful.
I would try to pick up a glassand I would drop the glass
because the neuropathy kind ofdull your senses, the tips of
your fingers at least of myfingers and I would drop the
glass.
So I went online and I said letme see if I can find something

(01:44):
that can help me with myneuropathy without having to
take any more medicine, becausethe medicine that they give me
makes me sleepy during the day.
I'm supposed to take it likethree times a day.
I can't take it three times aday, you just can't.
You can't do it because itmakes you sleepy and you need to
be alert when you're working.

(02:05):
So I went online and of coursethere's a YouTube channel.
We all have our YouTube degrees.
So I found a young lady onthere that talked about doing
some physical therapy during theday to help you with your pain.
So and it wasn't that much wereally didn't have a lot going.

(02:26):
We don't need a lot to get thephysical therapy going.
We just did a couple of tools.
So she taught one is a ball, just a prickly ball, and you
just kind of rub your feet on it.
You just rub, and I did trythis one.
I tried this one and it was inthe middle of the day when the

(02:46):
pain was kicking in.
That's when I'm supposed totake my second pill.
No, I don't want to take thatsecond pill.
So I just put this down and Irubbed my feet on it all the way
, from the heel of my foot allthe way up to the tip of my toes
, where all the little tinglypain is at and I guess about a
few minutes later I felt alittle better.

(03:08):
So the reason I'm doing thispodcast is because I want to
experiment with trying physicaltherapy and come back and talk
about if it worked for me, and Iwill show you some of the
exercises that I'm going to do,that I am going to do and will
do, and I will show you some ofthe exercises that I'm going to
do, that I am going to do andwill do, and I will report back.

(03:29):
So this is kind of like a partone and we're going to come back
with part two.
So she talked about using theball, she talked about using a
stretching strap, she showed yousome exercises you can do with
just stretching your toes.

(03:49):
And she also talked aboutanother one when you use the
chair right, you use the chair, you hold on to the back of the
chair and you're up and down onyour toes, up and down on your
toes.
Now you might not need a chair, but for me I need a chair
because I'm a little wobbly.
So neuropathy will cause alittle bit of off balance.

(04:10):
So if you try to get a littlebit of that under control, you
might not need a chair.
You'll gain a little bit morestability.
So for now, sherry is going touse the chair.
So for now, sherry is going touse the chair.
So the strap and this is a nicecolorful strap I got from, of
course, amazon when else?

(04:31):
So I just want to report backon that.
So for now, please let me knowif you like what you hear, hit
that like button, that subscribebutton and that bell
notification button, and you'llbe notified when new and
exciting podcasts are released.
So until next time, my viewersand my listeners, remember what

(04:55):
I always say Early detection isthe best detection.
So get your annual mammogramsdone.
If you had it done, schedule itfor next year.
If you haven't had it done, make an appointment.

(05:17):
So until next time, have a nicecup of tea.
