Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hi, my name is Sherry
and welcome to my podcast,
silver Tea.
And this podcast is aboutdrinking tea for medicinal
purposes, and I just want to sayI am a tea enthusiast.
I love all kinds of teas.
I have favorite teas, but Ilike trying different teas, and
(00:37):
the teas I'm going to talk aboutare not going to be in any
particular order.
Well, they will be in aparticular order, but they're
not going to be in my favoriterating of order.
They're going to be in how Iconsume tea order.
Okay, so I just want to getthat clear.
I love tea.
(00:58):
I've always been a person thatenjoyed tea.
You know, when we used to watchKung Fu Theater on Saturdays,
it wasn't just about the Kung Fuand the fighting and all the
cool moves, but it was about thetea, how they just served the
tea and they were.
So you know, I just got my teaout, you know, and how they
(01:20):
would serve the tea and youwould drink the tea.
I loved, I loved tea, and backthen I was drinking black
Tuttley tea and I later got intodrinking tea with creamer in it
, because now I think I'mBritish, right?
So what's going on with that?
(01:40):
So I love tea, and later inlife I started trying different
types of teas, and these teasthat I'm drinking now are so
super helpful for when I amdealing with pain, when I'm
looking for more focus andconcentration, or if I'm looking
(02:04):
to relax or mellow out.
And these teas are allwonderful for all the things I
talked about.
So I want to talk about my firsttea of the day and it's not a
part of my three teas, because Iusually start out my morning
with drinking tea because I likethe.
(02:27):
It feels so good, it warms mystomach.
I love the feeling of the tea.
But then I will get my showerand then I start preparing my
desk for success, shuffle mypapers around, get my pens all
where I need it to be.
I have to use colored pinsbecause I work in engineering,
(02:47):
so I want to just get everythingwhere I need it because I'm
ready to go.
So now I need that focus.
I need to get my focus on.
So what do I do?
The first tea I start of themorning is matcha tea.
Matcha tea is a very good tea.
(03:10):
It tastes good.
I love the green taste of itall.
It's strong.
But I take this tea in themorning for two reasons, I would
think is it three or two, buttwo.
One is for mental focus.
This tea will have you tryingto solve the earth issues.
(03:33):
Okay, this tea will get yourfocus that that strong.
This is some serious tea.
I love this tea and I take itas a shot.
So normally I'll take and makesure you follow the steeping
instructions and thetemperatures that you should be
heating your teas at, becausesometimes if you have a tea too
(03:56):
hot and you drop something likethis tea in there in boiling
temperature, which is what 212degrees you drop it in there.
These teas are very tender, delicate teas, tea leaves, even
though you can't see them, butthey will burn and then they
make your tea taste bitter.
So you want to make sure youknow what you should be having
(04:19):
matcha tea or green tea at.
Okay, so, um, so you put yourtea in there.
I use.
I use about maybe two to threetea tablespoons of heated water
to wherever the temperature Ithink is 170, 165, doesn't say
(04:41):
on here, but I pretty much know,like my's, 160, 175, 185,
somewhere around there.
I'll heat this tea and thenI'll take a little wisp and wisp
it up.
I I think I did some video, soI, I, if I have a video, I'm
gonna drop it in here, um, andI'll whip it up and I'll just
(05:01):
take it down and it's almostinstantly you start getting
these benefits.
You focus, you feel better, youhave an overall well-being.
Now you're just ready to go.
You've been rejuvenated fromdrinking this tea, so you feel
really, really good.
(05:22):
So this tea is wonderful and itjust and it helps with your skin
.
So it does.
You know, we women or men, welike to hold on to our youth as
long as we can and or we like toage gracefully and beautifully.
So this tea is good for yourskin.
It keeps your skin glowing.
It just does a wonderful job onthat.
(05:45):
And this is caffeinated tea.
So the reason I want to talkabout this caffeinated is
because I want to make sure, when you're drinking this tea,
that you're drinking this teagetting one cup or one shot.
However you want to do it.
You're drinking this tea withthat, that one shot a cup a day.
If you do two, it's probablyokay, but don't do it too late
(06:08):
in the day, because this teawill keep you up because, again,
it has caffeine in it.
So this tea is good for yourbrain function, it rejuvenates
you and it's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful for your
skin.
So we at our age like to agegracefully and beautifully.
So we want to keep our skinlooking good and glowing.
(06:29):
So we want to drink this tea,but don't drink too much of it.
You want to start drinking, youwant to stop drinking this tea
early because you don't want todrink it into the night and then
you're like wired and you can'tgo to sleep.
So enjoy this tea, but justdon't drink too much.
That is tea number one and thatis consumed in the morning time
(06:53):
, before I sit down to to go towork.
In the afternoon, after workingI don't know four or five hours
and and you had your lunch andand you did your walk and a
little sleep.
After a while the sleep kicksin again.
The next tea that you want todrink, which is I said I didn't
(07:16):
have any favorite teas, but I Ithink I had to say this turmeric
tea is my favorite tea.
I love turmeric tea.
I just discovered it this year.
Uh, I fell in love with it.
I I drink turmeric tea with anut milk.
I don't like it with um cowmilk.
(07:39):
It was because it makes mystomach feel heavy and bloated.
So I kind of stay away from thethe cow milk.
I like it with the nut milk andI like it with almond coconut
nut milk and I like this, thisum brand.
You can try any brand you want.
This is blue diamond.
I have tried other other brandsbut this seems to be my
(08:00):
favorite one and this is not.
This is not the one that I Iuse anymore.
This used to be my old one.
It's an unsweetened almond milkbut I fell in love with the
unsweetened coconut, theunsweetened almond coconut milk,
fell in love with it.
Love, love this tea.
(08:21):
And it wasn't me that actuallygot it, I, I sent my nephew to
go get it and it was like thishappy accident, like, oh, I, I
like this tea.
I mean, he got the wrong tea,but it's not the wrong tea, he
actually got the right tea.
I'm the one that's been buyingthe wrong tea.
So I absolutely love I'm sorrythe wrong milk.
So he got the.
So he, he got the wrong milk.
(08:44):
And I was like, no, no, I'm theone that's been buying the
wrong milk.
Because he's got the right milk, because I love this milk
better the nut milk.
So I drank this.
I make this um, turmeric teawith the nut milk which is the
arming coconut nut milk.
(09:04):
So I'm gonna tell you theingredients here.
Let me show you the ingredients.
Start with the number oneingredients the name of itself,
turmeric.
I will take about a one.
I'll take one.
I'm trying to remember onefourth, one fourth teaspoon of
(09:26):
turmeric.
This is just dry turmeric, dryturmeric, and I just do like one
fourth teaspoon of that.
Now it I forgot to mention thispart I'm actually heating this
nut milk in a little, a littlepot.
(09:47):
I don't want to heat it in themicrowave.
I'm over the microwave, I Iprefer the good old-fashioned
way, heated on the stove.
So so I will pour thatone-fourth teaspoon of turmeric
into my milk that's in a pot, soa pot that just waiting to be
heated.
Here's my other one, cinnamonsticks.
(10:10):
So I'll take one cinnamon stickand I'll break it up.
I'll break it up and put it inthere.
I love that.
I just love the taste and thesmell of the cinnamon when it's,
when it's in there.
I like the kodama.
Kodama has a wonderful spicetoo.
I love I'm not, would I say,kodama, I meant to say so.
(10:32):
I love this one, which is gomasala.
Absolutely love goma sala andmy turmeric tea is wonderful.
I love it, I love it, I love itand, last but not least, to
which I believe is veryimportant, don't ever forget to
put this in there, because thishelps you absorb all the
(10:54):
wonderfulness of the turmerictea and the beneficial, the most
beneficial part of the turmerictea that helps you with
inflammation.
So make sure you do a couple oftwists of cracked pepper into
your, your nut milk that you'realready heating on the stove.
Hi, I hope you're enjoying thepodcast so far, and the way you
(11:17):
can help my podcast is byhitting that subscribe button
below and you'll be notifiedwhen I release new and exciting
(11:38):
podcasts.
Thank you, and enjoy the restof the podcast.
So this is in the afternoon, after I had lunch, I've been for
my walk and I'm starting towind down now.
So a good walk at lunchtime isgreat.
It's good for your mental focusas well, but I find that I
still get a little sleepy, maybean hour later.
(12:02):
So what I do is I quickly makethis turmeric tea, and the
turmeric tea wakes you up, itgives you energy, it takes away
any pain you may have, and Iwon't say takes away, it's like
it's completely gone.
But what it does is it takesoff a good part, take off the
(12:24):
edge.
And the good part of the edgeis it really just takes it off
and you're feeling good andyou're focused.
So it brings back that mentalfocus that you just kind of felt
, like you kind of just kind ofspud it out a little bit and it
brings that back.
And the most beautiful thingabout this turmeric tea is it
(12:47):
doesn't have caffeine in it, soyou don't have to worry about it
having you wired by the timeit's time for bedtime and you
got you wide open and you can'tsleep.
Now Turmeric tea doesn't dothat.
It's a wonderful tea.
As a matter of fact, some peopleuse turmeric tea to calm them
down and unwind.
I don't use it for that.
(13:09):
It does help you unwind, but Ifound that I have a harder time
trying to sleep if I drink it atthat time.
But I do go to sleep it justI'm just kind of laying there
thinking again about whateverI'm thinking about I need to I
(13:34):
have at night and this is one ofmy favorite teas as well.
This is the lavender Uh-ohbackwards the lavender coconut,
I'm sorry.
The lavender chamomile.
This is the lavender chamomile.
(13:59):
This is the lavender chamomiletea that I like to have at night
.
I put it in eight ounces ofwater, hot water.
I mean not boiling point please, because I know the chamomile
flowers.
These are all whole flowers.
They are not grounded, groundedup.
But you can buy the tea bags ifyou like.
I, I like to, I like them wholeand loose, I just just me it's
(14:24):
preference.
So whatever, whatever ispreference for you.
So the chamomile I believe youhave to heat it to 185.
So you want to make sure youyou follow all the steep the the
steep time.
You want to make sure youfollow all the steep time.
You want to make sure youfollow the temperature of these
(14:45):
teas.
So make sure you get those inthere, because then that gives
you the best tea when you followthose instructions of how hot
it should be, how long youshould brew it or steep it.
It's very, very good.
I enjoy, enjoyed very much.
Let me put this over herebecause that that table got
crowded.
It's a little crowded overthere, so I'm gonna put this
(15:05):
over here.
So now, one thing I did not sayabout these teas.
I do want to say the turmerictea and the, the matcha tea.
Those two teas are very strongand high in antioxidants and we
need those antioxidants to helpus fight cancer.
(15:27):
So that's why I prefer them.
They really help with fightingcancer.
And the reason I'm kind ofslowing down on saying is
because I'm thinking about allthe other wonderful benefits
that these teas have that I Icould go on for another hour
(15:47):
talking about how tea, which godcreated these plants to help us
heal our bodies, how tea is awonderful benefit, and this, the
antioxidant system growing inthe sun, and and it's just, it's
just so good.
So I, before you even try anyof these teas, just do your own
(16:09):
research and see what you thinkwill work for you, because I did
not just happenstance onfiguring out how these teas work
.
I actually actually experimentwith them.
I read about them.
I became almost a master teamixer in my own apartment trying
to figure out how to get theseteas going.
So I absolutely love these teas.
(16:33):
They're very good for so manythings and I I would always
advise you to just take yourtime and try them, and sometimes
I would.
I'm gonna say this I want toput this disclaimer in check
with your doctor on some of them, and I say this because you
know I'm saying this fromexperience, right, I say this
(16:55):
because I fell in love with onetea that I cannot take.
It was called licorice root tea.
You see, this licorice root tea.
Oh my goodness, this tea is sogood, but the problem was it was
(17:26):
stopping my body from absorbingthe medicine for high blood
pressure.
And I kept saying I wasdrinking this tea every night.
I was like this tea is good,it's simple, it's easy, it's
relaxing.
No sugar required, no honeyrequired because I don't do
sugar, no honey required.
(17:47):
So I'm just like, okay, thistea is great, I don't have to
add no sweetener to it, nothing, let me tell you.
I went to the doctor and theysaid, yes, your problem is
you're drinking that tea andit's and it's blocking your body
from absorbing the high bloodpressure medicine and so,
(18:08):
because of that, I can't take it.
So, but it doesn't mean it'soff my shelf and it's in the
trash.
What it means is I want to getrid of high blood pressure
medicine, right, I want to getrid of that and I want to keep
this on my shelf.
So I'm going to give myselfsome time to try to work out how
to get rid of high bloodpressure medicine and use
(18:30):
natural natural, uh ways tocontrol my blood pressure,
because I actually did not haveblood pressure before I had
before I was diagnosed withcancer.
That seemed like it kind ofcame when cancer came I think
that was it for me I stressedout and blood pressure just went
crazy.
So, um yeah, it's not off myshelf forever, it's just off my
(18:54):
shelf temporarily.
It's not off my shelf, it it'snot off my shelf, it's just.
And I don't even sneak and try, even though I thought about it.
But I'm like no, sherry, don'tdo that.
So I'm a good girl, I'm going togive myself a chance to try to
find a natural, holistic ways tobe healthier, and I have a very
wonderful friend that gave mesome advice on trying holistic
(19:21):
ways to try to to get myself offof these, these medications
that we, we just can't take.
It you know we can't, we can'ttake, for I don't want to take
for the rest of my life not, nota chemical, because it's it's
killing something else in yourbody.
So I don't want to be taking itforever.
So the reason I take a lot ofthese teas is because I don't
(19:45):
know about you, but a lot ofpain seems like it comes when
you start getting old.
You got arthritis pain, you gotpain from the medication, or so
you find a way.
So I am trying to allow theseteas to be a a substitute to
(20:05):
pain medicine, because I livewith chronic pain every day and
I would love to hear what youare doing to help with your
chronic pain.
As you see, I talked about teasand how they help with
inflammation and chronic painand arthritis pain and taking
less of those chemical pills.
I would like to hear from mylisteners and viewers what are
(20:29):
you doing to help with yourchronic pain?
So my next podcast I'm going tohave a dear friend of mine who
lives with chronic pain everyday.
Have a dear friend of mine wholives with chronic pain every
day and she is going to come onand she's going to talk about
how she's been dealing with itand she's also going to talk

(20:54):
she's doing to manage it.
So hopefully you will staytuned for that podcast.
I would love for you to comeback and listen in.
