(00:46):
results.
12 Minutes starts now.
Hi everyone, elise here, welcome to episode 15.
Today, I'm talking about thebest training for leaders and
teams that I've come across inmy 17 plus years as a leadership
consultant and coach.
Don't get me wrong there are alot of good trainings out there,
(01:09):
but core strengths gives youthe most value by giving you
insights about yourself andothers and providing you with
tools that are practical andeasy to implement.
The content of other leadershiptrainings are great, but they
usually only hit on one aspectof leadership development, so
you would have to fill the gapswith a series of other separate
(01:30):
trainings to hit everything youneed.
Sometimes those differenttrainings don't always
complement each other, so youend up with a bunch of random
tools that don't alwaysintegrate well.
I have also found that manyleadership trainings are very
theoretical and easily forgottenbecause they are complicated
when it comes to practicalapplication.
Core strengths is practical andsomething you can apply right
(01:54):
away and get results within arelatively short amount of time.
One of the greatest challengesfacing organizations is creating
an effective leadershipdevelopment strategy.
Let me take some of theguesswork out for you and share
five reasons why core strengthsis the best training for leaders
and teams.
If this is your first timehearing the term core strengths,
(02:18):
I encourage you to go back toepisode 12 of the podcast for
the read the Room series.
It will give you some contextfor the conversation we're
having today.
So let's get started.
Reason number one core strengthsreveals what truly motivates
people.
Most leadership training skimsthe surface.
It teaches skills ortechniques, but core strengths
(02:41):
goes deeper.
It shows you the why behindpeople's behavior and it
introduces the three coremotives People, performance and
process.
People, as you'll remember, arethose who value relationships
and harmony.
Performance are those who aredriven to achieve and get
results and process those whowant accuracy, structure and
(03:03):
order.
When leaders and teamsunderstand these motives, they
can see why someone reacts theway they do.
It's like switching on a lightin a dark room.
Suddenly, conflict makes sense, collaboration makes sense and
leaders can stop guessing andstart leading with clarity.
Reason number two it improvescommunication instantly.
(03:25):
Here's the truth Mostcommunication breakdowns happen
because we're speaking in ourown language, not in the
language of the other person.
Core Strengths equips leaders toread the room and adjust their
message.
With a people-motivated person, you lead with stories and
connection.
With performance-driven peoplePeople you cut to results.
(03:46):
With a process-oriented person,you provide detail and
structure.
This skill alone transformsmeetings, presentations and
one-on-one conversations.
Teams stop talking past eachother and start listening and
responding with intention.
Reason number three it preventsand navigates conflict.
(04:06):
Let's be honest conflict isinevitable in leadership.
The question isn't if it willhappen, it's how you'll handle
it.
Core strengths is brillianthere.
People's motives inform theirpotential conflict triggers.
Those with the people motivecould be triggered by decisions
that don't consider the impacton people.
Those with the performancemotive could be triggered by
(04:27):
delays due to indecision andoveranalyzing.
Those with the process motivecould be triggered by being
given last-minute assignmentswith a quick turnaround.
When leaders and teamsunderstand these dynamics, they
can spot conflict triggersearly, adjust their approach and
prevent small issues fromexploding into big ones.
It's like having a roadmap fornavigating the hardest moments
(04:50):
at work.
Reason number four it buildsstronger, more trusting teams.
Leadership isn't about beingthe smartest person in the room.
It's about creating anenvironment where others can
bring their best.
Core Strengths training fostersa culture of mutual
understanding.
Team members see not just whatthey each contribute but also
what they value.
(05:11):
That awareness builds empathyand empathy builds trust.
When teams train in corestrengths, you see walls come
down.
People stop assuming the worstand start appreciating the
differences.
That shift alone boostsengagement, loyalty and
collaboration.
The insights you gain throughcore strengths depersonalizes
differences, because you realizeothers aren't out to get you.
(05:33):
They just have a different wayof looking at the world.
If you can recognize that, youcan often leverage the
differences to complement oneanother.
And reason number five itcreates immediate practical
application.
I've seen a lot of trainingswhere leaders walk out inspired,
but a week later nothingchanges.
Core Strengths is differentbecause it's practical.
(05:54):
Leaders walk away with a clearpicture of their own motives, a
shared language for their teamand tools to tailor
communication in real time.
It doesn't sit in a binder on ashelf.
It shows up in the nextmeeting, the next feedback
conversation, the next decisionmaking session and because of
that, leaders see a return ontheir investment right away in
(06:14):
better conversations, strongerrelationships and faster
results.
And here's a bonus reason.
There is more to core strengthsthan I can cover in a couple
podcast episodes.
In addition to the motives andconflict piece, there's also a
strengths piece.
You learn which strengths youuse most naturally in a team to
get results and which strengthsyou may need to occasionally
(06:36):
borrow to get your desiredresults.
You can also create a team'sportrait of your collective
strengths for assessing work onprojects.
Finally, there is also anoverdone strengths piece which
tells you which strengths youtend to overdo that may be
causing conflict when workingwith others.
This insight gives you theneeded data to dial back that
(06:58):
strength so that it's workingfor you instead of against you.
Core Strengths Training standsout because it reveals what
motivates people, improvescommunication instantly, helps
prevent and navigate conflict, builds stronger teams and offers
immediate practical applicationIf you're a leader who wants
(07:20):
more influence or you'rebuilding a team that needs more
trust, clarity and alignment.
This training is a gamechanger, so thanks for joining
