Leadership is a journey best not traveled alone. After nearly two decades as both a leadership coach and someone who benefits from coaching, I've witnessed firsthand the remarkable transformation that happens when leaders invest in professional guidance.

The numbers speak volumes – coaching delivers an average ROI of seven times the investment. My personal experience confirms this: I accomplished more in one year with a coach than in the previous five years combined. From writing a book to launching this podcast, coaching accelerated my progress in ways I couldn't have managed solo. But the benefits extend far beyond mere productivity.

Great leaders understand that sustainable success requires clarity amid complexity, and a coach provides just that. When you're making decisions with incomplete information and balancing competing priorities, having someone who asks the right questions creates space for insights you'd otherwise miss. Perhaps most valuably, coaching offers a confidential sounding board – something desperately needed in leadership positions where isolation is common. Many executives tell me coaching sessions are the first time in years they've had someone truly listen without an agenda.

Beyond these benefits, coaching accelerates growth through enhanced self-awareness, improves relationships by developing emotional intelligence, and builds resilience that prevents burnout. The truth? Coaching isn't a sign of weakness – it's a demonstration of wisdom. The most successful leaders recognize they need external perspective to reach their potential.

Hi everyone, elise here, welcome to episode 16.
Today, we're diving into one ofmy favorite topics executive
coaching.
I've been a coach for almosttwo decades and I also have a
coach, so I'm a big believer inaccelerating learning by

(01:10):
engaging with someone who hasgone before you.
By hiring a coach, Iaccomplished more in one year
than the five years prior.
Some of those goals includedwriting a book, launching this
podcast and expanding my team.
I've also witnessed thetransformative work of the
leaders, my team and I coach.
I've watched them get promotedmore quickly, break through

(01:32):
seemingly insurmountableobstacles and fulfill their true
potential.
The International CoachingFederation cites a global survey
by Price Waterhouse Cooperswhich found that the average ROI
of employing a coach is seventimes the investment.
This can be felt at both theindividual and organizational

(01:53):
levels.
So, for individuals, coachingincreases self-confidence,
improved work performance,enhanced communication, clear
goal setting and greaterproductivity.
At the organizational level, those who get coaching for their
people benefit from higheremployee engagement and
retention, stronger leadershipdevelopment, reduced burnout,

(02:16):
improved financial performanceand a more positive workplace
culture.
So you may have wondered do Ireally need a coach?
I've been successful so far.
Can't I figure this out on myown?
It's a fair question, buthere's what I've seen again and
again the best leaders, the oneswho sustain their success, lead

(02:37):
people well and build strongorganizations, don't go it alone
.
They invest in coaching, and inthis episode I'll share five
reasons why having an executivecoach can be the best leadership
decision you'll ever make.
Reason number one clarity in themidst of complexity.
Leadership today is messy.
You're making decisions withincomplete information,

(02:59):
balancing competing prioritiesand navigating constant change.
Balancing competing prioritiesand navigating constant change.
A coach helps you slow down, tothink clearly.
We ask the right questions, reflect back what we hear and
create space for you to seepatterns and possibilities you
might miss on your own.
Clarity is a competitiveadvantage and a coach helps you

(03:20):
find it.
Reason number two a confidentialsounding board.
Let's be honest, leadership canfeel isolating.
There are things you simplycan't process with your board,
your boss or your team.
An executive coach provides asafe, judgment-free space to
think out loud, wrestle withtough decisions and get honest

(03:40):
feedback.
Many of my clients say it's thefirst time in years they've had
someone listen deeply, not tocritique or compete, but just to
help them grow.
That space alone istransformational.
Reason number three and I'vealready mentioned this but can't
say it enough acceleratedgrowth and self-awareness.
Most leaders don't lack skills.

(04:02):
They lack awareness of howtheir strengths and blind spots
show up.
A coach helps you see thoseblind spots, leverage
assessments, gather feedback andtranslate it into practical
growth.
Without that insight you riskplateauing.
With it you unlock a new levelof influence.
Coaching accelerates what mighttake you years to figure out on

(04:24):
your own.
Reason number four betterrelationships, less conflict.
Leadership isn't just aboutstrategy, it's about people, and
often the hardest part ofleadership isn't the business
challenges, it's the peopledynamics.
Coaches help leaders, improvecommunication, build trust and
manage conflict before itescalates.

(04:46):
Tools like core strengths, 360feedback and emotional
intelligence assessments giveleaders new lenses to connect
with people more effectively.
When relationships improve, culture improves and culture
drives results.
And reason.
Number five sustainedperformance and resilience.
Anyone can push hard for aseason, but sustainable

(05:09):
leadership requires resilience.
A coach helps leaders aligntheir habits, boundaries and
mindset so that they can leadwith energy, not exhaustion.
I often remind leaders youcan't pour from an empty cup.
Coaching helps you lead at ahigh level without burning out.
So, to recap, the fiveadvantages of hiring an

(05:31):
executive coach are one clarityin the Two, a confidential
sounding board.
Three accelerated growth andself-awareness.
Four better relationships andless conflict.
Five sustained performance andresilience.
The truth is, coaching isn'tjust for leaders in crisis.

(05:51):
It's for high capacity leaderswho want to keep growing.
It's not a sign of weakness,it's a sign of wisdom.
So thanks for tuning in.
