Ian Street graces the south in a feature length match-day diary with Ed, Rhys & Jack for his first home game of the season. After today's performance, we are now negotiating with 1912 Exiles commercial to subsidise more visits as the official club's good luck charm! Come with us on a journey of bewilderment and bovril spice on-scene at Rodney Parade as we remember that winning feeling, not felt since March.
Ian, Rhys, Alfie & Ed assembled for a festive recording, seeking to fulfil their promise of an episode free from County-related misery and to bring some light relief to a traumatic season. Over the course of an hour, they discuss: what Christmas presents you'd buy for past Newport County players; quirky stories about football at Christmas; what we'd do if we were the ghosts of Christmas past / present / future; the best loan pl...
A long-overdue episode, this one, as we explore Newport County's ownership, the potential loss of league status, and the current existential crisis at NP19.
Ian is in the chair, and is joined by Rhys and Ed. The gang briefly discuss the Crewe and Fleetwood games, but then turn our attention to matters off the pitch. With a crunch fan forum meeting taking place next Wednesday, we ask what chairman Huw Jenkins needs to say and do,...
After a shambolic TV broadcast this week which made the FIFA World Cup draw (complete with Rio Ferdinand-Gianni Infantino comedy skits and Wayne Gretzky attempting to pronounce “North Macedonia”) look like a polished, professional affair, Jamie attempts to unpack Newport County’s humbling in the FA Cup away to Borehamwood.
You may wish to cheer yourself up by listening to some Radiohead, or even better, Ed’s chat with the Crewe ...
Fuchs at the wheel and a point at home, is it good enough? Come and join us on a match-day diary with Jack, Ed and company as they navigate yet another win-less Rodney Parade outing.

A pod of two halves for you again, in what has been a momentous week for Newport County. In Part 1, Ed asks Jamie for his initial reaction to County's new manager announcement, and we also rifle through listeners' reactions to the appointment of Christian Fuchs. Then, in Part 2, Ed reports from an ultimately dispiriting loss at Oldham, catching up along the way with Ollie, Mark, Jane & Silvers. Whilst being as positive as they ...
An emergency pod of sorts, as Newport County finally part ways with manager Dave Hughes. First up, Alfie, along with friend of the pod Marc, report from the final match of the Hughes era up at Shrewsbury yesterday.
That's followed by a morning-after-the-day-before reflection, with Jamie & Ian dissecting the moments throughout the season that have led to this point, where we need to head next, and analysing the current state...
A team effort this one as we hear from Ed, Ollie, Dave, Iwan, Fraser, Hwyligan, Jamie & Ian - as well as from Nathan Blake whose new podcast with Rob Phillips is well worth a listen. Between them, they consider a range of listener questions/thoughts, analyse County's loss to table-topping Walsall, and consider what November might herald.

Our 250th episode of the pod (the sestercentennial, for those of you who wanting to know the official term), and a chance to stretch our legs with a longer-form episode. Rhys is in the chair, with Jamie and Alfie chipping in to discuss where Newport County find ourselves at the end of #OctopusOctober (how did that stick as a name?!?) and what the coming weeks might bring. They also effortlessly weave in clips and contributions from...
Well my goodness, where did that come from? Ian's at the helm at what is now a happy stomping ground in Harrogate away. Featuring Dave (YrAlltudion) and Iwan, it's a classic matchday diary away in another northern town.
After the doom and gloom of the last episode, it's welcoming to have some more uplifting tones. Ian's now seen two away wins this month - did the move to a classic 4-4-2 do the trick? Has that 'league of three' a...
Rhys sat down on Sunday night with Ed and Ian to read the runes after Newport County's humbling by Cheltenham Town, and to ask the big questions.
Can Dave Hughes keep his job? What will happen if he goes? Where does our defensive injury crisis leave us? Can we still be in contention for survival come January? Is there even money to strengthen if we are? Is our situation more akin to a bad episode of Ready, Steady Cook or to Icar...
A bit of bonus content for you. Ed sat down for what was supposed to be a ten-minute match preview chat with our Cheltenham counterparts for a short social media clip - but it ended up being such a good conversation we thought we'd put it out as an extra poodcast. Ed is joined by Dan from The Robins Report podcast and the Talk of the County podcast to discuss both sides' prospects on Saturday.

A pod of two halves. Ed kicks things off, giving his reaction to County's win over Cardiff in the Football League Trophy, on his cycle home from the game. Then, in Part 2, he hands the reins over to Ian to nervously describe County nursing their way through to a 1-0 away victory at Accrington. Back-to-back wins, and perhaps finally some cause for optimism amongst the fanbase?

Dear me, what a season this is turning into. In sheer exasperation, the pod crew tried to have a breather from County matters this week, so we're grateful to our listeners Dave & Iwan and Max for sending through reports on the matches against Arsenal B and Chesterfield respectively. We also mention the recent NCAFC Trust statement - do have a read if you haven't already.

An absolutely MASSIVE thank you to everyone who joined us live at the Riverside Sports Bar after the Gillingham game for a chat. We welcomed some familiar faces, some away fans - and best of all some listeners we'd never met before! Apologies that we didn't get everyone's names; if you were a newbie who chatted with us, do drop us a line so we can say a proper thank you. Between the dozen or so attendees, we discussed the Gillingha...
Despite his therapist’s advice (apparently six losses on the bounce are NOT good for the soul), our man on the northern beat, Mr Ian Street, meandered across the Pennines to bring you his unique reporting on Newport’s trip to Tranmere.
Poor Ian’s gone through the motions today, watching us concede a howler and yet stop the rot with a decent away point, joined by the usual reprobates.

With the Welsh Rugby Union considering reducing the number of Welsh rugby regions from four down to two, this episode explores some of the potential ramifications - not just for rugby, but for Rodney Parade, for Newport County, for the city centre and for local businesses. To get a full range of insights, we hear from Jamie (of the Dragons Lair podcast), Dan (from the Riverside Sports Bar) and from our own Ed.
We threw this one open to our listeners, with Jack and Ed punctuating things whilst getting views from Alfie, Chris, Stu, Fraser, Ollie, Tinty John, Dave, Iwan and a whole host of Twitterers and Blueskyers who replied to our appeal for post-match thoughts on the home defeat to Bristol Rovers. It's not the most uplifting listen, but huge thanks to everyone who contributed.

Six league games, two cup games, one win, two draws (inc. a penalty shootout win) and five losses. But what have we gleaned from those games about the Dai Hughes era at Newport County? Rhys is joined by Ian and Ed to divine what we can about this team, to ponder what's needed in the last 24hrs of the transfer window, and make some predictions about the month ahead. No spoilers, but basically Wake Us Up When September Ends.

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
