Speaker 1 (00:02):
I hear that you are a crazy Katleen best. I
love cats, cat basket, Two Girls, Three Cats, Congratulations you
beg on your transformation into crazy Catleen. Welcome to Two Girls,
Three Cats with me Jenna and Me Sammy.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Hello, Jenna, hellotes it. How are you good?

Speaker 1 (00:21):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I am good. I'm excited to record another episode of
Two Girls, Three Cats. Of course the podcast it's all
about cats. Yes, what else would it be about birds?

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Potentially it could be about birds, because I mean birds
do relate to cats in the sense of predators.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yes and pray Yes. Well, my next door neighbor has
started feeding the lorikeets.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
I love lorikeats.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
They're so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
I love holding them, I love feeding them. I love
being at one with nature.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
When they land on me, they sometimes they do a
little poopy on.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Me, which I don't like. You. No, I'm not a fan.
Don't like that. I mean, it's natural, it is not for.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Them to do poo pees. I actually, once upon a
time did feed the lorikeets a lot, and they made
a huge mess. They came from all over the land
to my balcony and made it.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
It would have been so pretty.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Though there were about twenty of them, and they were
so gorgeous and they would come and sit on me,
and I gave them more names, and they would, you know,
feed out my hand and everything.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
But it's snow white.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, I felt like a Disney princess.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Bird's come to me. But yeah, a princess right here.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yes, but they did come to me, and they made
a big pooey mess. So I tend to not feed
them anymore obviously because of that. Because also I have
two cats.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yes, so yes, we're not a podcast about burn.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
No, two girls, three cats, and twenty five lori keys.
But yeah, next door I started feeding them. I think
we got new neighbors and they've started to feed the
Lori keats on the bit of the balcony that's closest
to my balcony.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh yep.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
And so you know that thing that cats do.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I know exactly, Like I.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Don't even have to explain it to you, because you
know it is that I like the face shakes, yes,
the side of the mouth, and it's like, now you
were telling me what this means? Yes, what does it mean? Exactly?

Speaker 1 (02:11):
So apparently it is. This is what I've read. Once again,
not an expert expert, but apparently means that the cat
is trying to imitate a bird, so the bird is
attracted to another bird's noise and will come to them.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
So it's like, oh, hey, you're another bird. Yes, you
sound like one.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Exactly, And while the cat's just say like it's like
they're laughing. I know it is haha, I'm tricking you
into thinking you I'm not a bird, I'm a cat.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
So this is Blossom's first experience with birds. Ah, so
at first she didn't know what to do, but she
had this like I need to move my face yeah,
like yep, and then the noise followed. She actually really
does sound like a bird, does she. I'm going to
play you a bit now, Okay, doesn't she tell me?

Speaker 1 (03:00):
She really does?

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Whereas when Bluebell does it, the slightly older one she
is more. She doesn't do it as much. She's a
bit more cakuli oh less birdie. More like.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
She's failing. She's failing at it.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
She's like got the wrong species of bird.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Yes, I know, birds that aren't native to Australia.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, she's got that. She's got that covered yep, blossoms
all about the lower keets.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
So does Connie do this?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Oh, all the time. So there's a magpie that regularly
comes into our courtyard and it's actually quite cute. It's
like a little magpie and it just comes and I
feel like it's teasing Connie, like it has a feeling
that Connie's behind the window, but knows that Connie can't
get out. So the magpie is like, let's have a
little bit of Funi's a mean, I know, but this
one's a bit funny, a bit cute. But when it

(03:46):
grows up, I don't want it to attack me, so yeah,
let it just stay as you are. Anyway, it bops
around and Connie sees it. But sometimes when Connie doesn't
see it and I see it, I do that. I
do it first, and she'll immediately look at me and
do it in response to me doing it, and then
look outside the window and realize that the magpie is there,

(04:08):
and she'll continue doing her thing and then run up
to the window. So now I know how to imitate
Coddy doing the bird noise, so she'll always look at
me as if, oh my god, what's going on and
know that magpie's outside.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
That's so cute.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
It's just over the past couple of months that I've
started doing it that she's really reacted to it, Like
she could be in another room and I go, she'll
come running in.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
You go kill like a like a Disney villain.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yes, yes, yeah, pretty you thought a bird was in here?
But it's just me.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Actually, this is one of those things that I do
if I've lost you know how sometimes they vanish, Yes,
you're like.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Where are you?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Freaking out? One of the things I do if I
can't find them immediately, I'll go, what's that? And then
they come running from whatever corner. They really to the
window because they're.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Like, well, what what what?

Speaker 2 (04:58):
What's out there? What's out there?

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
They're so smart because I get very overly excited when
there's anything happening. I get over excited about anything.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Did I tell you about the instant the other week
with a cockroach?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
No?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Okay, So a couple of weeks ago, I woke up
and there was a dead cockroach on the floor, and
I was.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Like, guys, come on, you're a cat.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
This is kind of your thing here, this is your
role in the house, you know how. I don't deal
with cockroach as well, not at all. I do not
like cockroaches. I hate them. They're terrifying to me, of course,
because they're so big and solid. So there was one
next to the bed and I thought, I was like, guys,
come on, like I ask you to do one thing anyway,
and I was trying to point it to them and
I was like, look a look at the cockroach. And

(05:40):
they were not interested. They were like, what what about?

Speaker 1 (05:42):
What about it?

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah, I'm going over here now. Anyway. So the other day,
the other evening, because we've had some weather weather, so
there was a cockroach on the floor and of course
I screamed, flailed my arms, yes, dramatically.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
So at this point it's alive.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
This is a different one. So this is a this
is a fully functioning cock crow.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
God okay.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
And it's like running over by the path of your
doors and I'm like, oh my god, quick get it.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
And they're pretty fast, step fast. Oh god.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Bluebell gets behind some like her tower her like you know, yeah,
tower gets behind it, does some maneuver. Next thing you know,
she's running into the bathroom with it in her mouth.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Oh no, get that out of your mouth.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
And its legs are going like and so I'm like
to my husband, we're not going to talk about him
nor like like he's ironing, and he's like, oh, can
you do it? And I'm like, have you just met me?

Speaker 1 (06:32):
No?

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Anyway, he comes and he saves the day and.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Whatever, but no, he doesn't. It made me.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Realize she'd taken it to my bed and she's like
taking it. I think she was going to torture it
for a while. Yeah, and she took it to a
corner where she could torture it, and then I think
she was going to leave it by the bed. So
it made me draw the conclusion that the time that
she ignored it was actually her not ignoring it was
when they bring you a presence. Oh, she was giving

(06:59):
your pres a dead cockroach's warning you. So I was like,
oh my god, you're such a good girl.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
She has to be praised. That's cute. She's doing what
she thinks you want.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, she thinks I want the cockroach that I just
screamed out.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
So I gave her some treats and then fell removed
the cockroach so I didn't have to deal with it.
Good but that was quite stressful. But they are predators
at the end of the day.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
They honestly are, which brings me back to one of
the points I made in an earlier episode, how important
it is to keep them inside because wildlife, you know
general nature, cats are predators, like you said, and they
will kill wildlife.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
And apart from being predators, they're also pray.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yes, exactly, exactly. You can't win.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Just keep them inside, you know, keep them.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Safe from themselves and others.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Before we go, I've got a couple of cat facts
here that have been carrying around with me.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, I was wondering what you were doing with those
big pieces of paper.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
So you know, pet circle who we laugh after course,
of course, so I get the occasionally I get the
Curious box.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
I love the Curious boxes and.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
I got one for Pride this month.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
I saw that on your Instagram story.

Speaker 2 (08:09):
So cute, horrible, Oh my goodness. Okay, So it came
with a collar with like the rainbow print and the
bandana which I got Blossom to wear for about ten seconds.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
Yes, but you got the photos. Oh, I got the photo.
But let's put that up on our shows. That Two Girls,
three Cats podcast.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Let me just say, talk about twenty minutes, and that
was a best what I got and I was determined.
So yeah, they send this curious box every month. You
can order it from pet Circle. But it also comes
with this like really cute little do you know fact thing?
How cute, and so I just thought I might read
you a couple of them, so please do Okay, So
did you know that a cat's nose print is unique

(08:44):
and can be used to identify them like human fingerprints?
Cue all fully.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Now, I just want to go home and look at
Connie's nose.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
I want to get one of those fingerprint testing kits.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Oh my god, yeah yeah, the two cats noses. Oh
my oh god. Yeah, you have to do that.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
It'll be so good. Okay, So this one I have
experience with. Okad, you know that about one third of
cats lack the gene which causes other cats to react
to catnip. Does Connie react to catnip?

Speaker 1 (09:15):
You know what?

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Connie's not a fan of catnip. Neither is bluebell blossom
off her chops on. It really loves it.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
When I first got catnip, I was so excited to
see Connie's reaction. I was so excited. Gave it to nothing.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
She actually looked disgusted at it's like, what's this mess?

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yes, And I kept trying to push it over to
her and I'm like, oh look, no, no, no, this
is good. And I'm like, you know, just now and
she's like, oh no. Her face looked disgusting. She just
wasn't a fan. But Mitch Chrury, yeah, who was a
friend of the show. For Christmas, he gave Connie one
of these little mouse toys. Oh yeah, you stuff catnips

(09:54):
and she actually loves that. So I guess it's the
combination of both but not ingesting it, but just having
it there that she likes, if that makes sense. Yeah,
but yeah, it's interesting because I was kind of disappointed.
I wanted Connie to enjoy cat and him.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Well, Staley used to love it, Bluebelt not so much,
and Blossom does. So that is literally one third of
the cats.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
You're not like it.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
That's one in three of my cats. So true, So
they go that is I'm an actual statistic. You are okay,
did you know? Yes, the cats don't always purr because
they're happy. Purring can also indicate stress, illness, or pain.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Upsets me.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
It's a self soothing thing apparently.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
But it's still sad.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
It's sad, and sometimes I'm like, are you sad am?
I tickling you with your sad?

Speaker 1 (10:42):
I know? And like they look so happy and relaxed
and You're like, are you purring because you're unhappy? And
they just look up like huh, I'm lying in the sun, lying.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
In the sun on my back. Okay, lastly, yes, did
you know the cats use their whiskers to determine if
they can fit through narrow or small spaces.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
I've seen that on TikTok and I love those TikTok
videos of cats trying to get through small spaces.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
I love cats whiskers, I know. I always say the
bluebells are made of silk.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Oh, how cute?

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Actually going to give you one more fact. Okay, this
is from the Halloween box.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
The Halloween okay, Halloween Howloween.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Curious box, which I look at that a cute picture.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
That's so cute.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
But I've been carrying this around to my laptop since Halloween.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
It's very batters like it's been around.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Several cats have lay on it. Did you know that
a group of cats can be referred to as a clouder,
a glaring or a clutter a clouder a glaring or
a clutter.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I don't like clutter. I feel like there's negative connotations
around clutter, so I'd like to avoid referring to them
as a clutter.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Did you know that a group of kittens is called
a kindle? So when you get to read your kindle,
you could be like, this is a group of kittens, yes,
and then confuse.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Everyone and yeah, like what that's true? Just confuse people.
But I mean cats, Cats great every way?

Speaker 2 (12:06):
What's that over there?

Speaker 1 (12:12):
I'm allergic to cats. Two girls, three cats,
