(00:00):
Good morning. Good afternoon.
Good evening. Whenever you are.
Welcome. To two men with a mic.
Hey everyone, and welcome back to another beautiful Tuesday.
I hope you guys are all doing absolutely amazing and that you

(00:22):
guys have had a great week so far and I hope you guys continue
having a great week. But here I am to give you guys a
little update on this. Last weekend I got to go to a
new state with my NYU NavigatorsChristian Club and we had our

(00:45):
fall retreat and we did it at Hume Lake in one of the New
England states, Massachusetts, and it was absolutely so
beautiful. I've always wanted to go to
Massachusetts and just like all of the New England states
because especially during the fall, because I know that images

(01:09):
online show that they have the best trees to see fall and they
have lots of orange and red and yellow and they're just
definitely very fall vibe states.
And so it's always been my dreamto visit them.
And I've really never been further than New York on the

(01:29):
East Coast. So we got to drive through
Connecticut as well, which I'm not counting as having been
there because, like, I didn't stop and get out and like, go
and do any, do anything in Connecticut.
But, you know, we drove through it and yeah, and it was actually
kind of a crazy thing that endedup happening because I ended up

(01:52):
driving about halfway through the trip, which I'll get to in a
little bit. But basically this fall retreat
took place from Friday to Sunday, and Friday we were
supposed to pack up and meet at one of the buildings on campus
at NYU. And then there was going to be 3

(02:15):
rental cars that were going to be picked up by our drivers,
like students who volunteered todrive.
And then we, you know, it was like sectioned off.
These students would be in that car and so on and so forth.
And we were supposed to leave. At least my group was supposed

(02:35):
to leave at 2:45. We didn't end up leaving till
about like, I think it was like almost 5:30 when we actually
ended up leaving because not allof the cars that got rented were
picked up from New York City. My driver's car was picked up

(02:56):
from New Jersey. And so that took a little bit
longer for her to like get into the city than expected.
And also, when she arrived at the car pickup place, they were
like, well, your car's not readyyet.
And like this whole thing. So that's why I ended up taking

(03:17):
a little bit longer for her to get to us.
And yeah, and then I pretty muchknew everybody that was in my
car except one girl who was invited by one of the other
people in my car. And let's just say that girl
that I didn't know, she was a little bit crazy or, I don't

(03:43):
know, just like, very, she came off as super rude in my opinion.
And she is supposedly a native New Yorker from Brooklyn.
And, you know, I've met other New Yorkers and they're really
nice. So I don't know if this is just,
you know, how she was raised or if it's a New York thing or

(04:07):
what, but she was just, I just wasn't vibing with it.
You know, as soon as we met her,she was just giving attitude and
like every time she you asked her a question, she's like,
well, why do you need to know that?
Like, I don't know. I'm just like, it's a basic
question. What do you study at NYU?
Like why? I'm not, I'm not investigating.

(04:28):
I was just making conversation, dude.
Like, why? I'm not, I'm not the FBI, you
know, like, why does it matter that much?
So yeah. And then like our driver, she
has a little bit softer of a voice.
And when our driver was introducing herself to this New

(04:50):
Girl, the New Girl was like, what?
I can't hear you. And, and so our driver repeated,
you know, like her name and all of that.
And she's like, do you have a soft voice or something?
And it's like, that's how she would talk to you.

(05:11):
And yeah, so it was just like, not nice and very rude.
And then the entire drive, she was acting like a know it all.
And then just the worst backseatdriver ever.
And literally everything that our driver would do, she would
criticize or be like, why are you changing lanes?

(05:33):
Why are you going that way? Why are you taking this route?
Why do you turn wheel like that? You know, and, and then like us
not all being from New York would like point out things that
we're seeing as we drive by, like, oh, look, it's Yankee
Stadium or oh, we're in the Bronx or, you know, like, oh,
here's Central Park, like all these things.

(05:54):
And she's like, well, you guys clearly aren't from New York
because New Yorkers don't even call it those things.
And I'm like, OK, I don't even know if that's true because
like, what else do you call Central Park?
You know what I mean? So yeah, she was just not the
funnest person to be around. And so, you know, halfway
through the drive, we stopping at like, a subway and get

(06:16):
dinner. And our driver is just like, so
irritated and frustrated at thispoint as anybody would be.
I mean, I know if I was driving with all that, like, I would
have like, blown up at that point probably.
So, yeah, it was just so crazy. And then at this point, it's

(06:37):
also gotten dark out. But, you know, after we eat and
stuff, we continue on and then we start getting, as you get
further and further away from New York, you kind of venture
off into these more like windy roads and very woodsy, naturey,
you know, places out in the middle of nowhere.

(06:58):
And so because it was so dark and like a lot of cars had
bright lights on, it was really hard for the driver to see and
drive. And so really the only other
person in the car with like a license and who's like a part of
the navigators group, it was me.So they, she asked if like I

(07:19):
could take over driving and so Idid.
And you know, she was OK with itbecause I technically was not on
the rental agreement. So I really shouldn't have been
driving. I mean, it's not like a big
deal. I mean, just if I crashed the
car or something then it would have been a big deal.
But, you know, I have a license and I'm insured and all that, so
it was fine. So anyways, I drive and I just

(07:42):
let everybody know that, you know, I'm the slowest person
ever. So just keep that in mind.
But I mean, they were all cool. They thought it was funny.
And then I was so like cautious and stuff.
But they said I did a fabulous job job driving and getting
everybody safely to Hume. So yeah, it was just, it was
just a very hectic and crazy drive there.

(08:05):
And our group arrived like an hour later than what we should
have. But but, you know, it's OK.
We made it. And, you know, it was a great,
it was a great time. And then we finally all got to
go to bed. And I think that's what
everybody needed. And then Saturday came and that
was so fun. And that's when I finally got to
see like Hume, like in the daytime and see more of those

(08:29):
fall colors and just what a beautiful place it was.
And we had breakfast. There was eggs and there was
like chorizo. And they kind of had like a
build your own breakfast burritosituation.
But I kind of did like a deconstructed 1.
And there was potatoes, which are my favorite part of

(08:50):
breakfast food. So I had a lot of those.
And we had some leaders who led some group discussions and we
looked at different Bible versesand things like that.
And we had some time alone with God and things like that.
And then they also put us in little, small, small groups.

(09:14):
And they called them family groups.
And they were with people from NYU.
And thankfully I didn't have that one girl, but yeah, so
those were really nice and everybody was super cool in my
group. And it was nice to get to know
everybody in my Group A little bit better, especially since,
you know, I'm going to be seeingthem around campus and stuff.

(09:34):
So kind of a great way to get closer friendships.
And then we had lunch and they had like a salad bar and also
like chicken sandwiches. I just did a huge salad because
I am a salad girly. I love ensalada so much.
So I did that for my lunch and then had some waffle fries

(09:56):
because as I told you, I'm a huge potato girl.
I love potatoes. I don't think there is a bad
form of a potato and I will justeat any kind that there is.
And then we also had some fun activities scattered throughout
the day. They sent us on a scavenger hunt
in our little family groups and basically we had an hour to do

(10:19):
all these different challenges and you had to take photos doing
certain things. My group got 7th place out of
17, so not the worst. We were kind of like right there
in the middle, but it was super fun and it was just, you know, a
blast. I feel like I haven't done a
scavenger hunt in forever so. So it was nice to get to do that

(10:39):
and work together as a team to figure out different clues.
There was also like some riddlesthat we had to solve too.
So that was such a great time and also just a great
opportunity to walk around and take more pictures.
You know, we had to take pictures to send in for these
challenges anyway, so it was great.
And then some of their other free time activities were

(11:01):
archery, bull riding, axe throwing, They had coffee, they
had board games and a lot of things like that.
I never made it over to the axe throwing, which probably for the
best 'cause I probably would have taken somebody's face off.
But the archery was super fun. I've never done archery ever in

(11:25):
my life. And that was a lot of fun.
And I hit the target. I didn't get like the bullseye,
like the Super center, but I didmake it on the little map at
least so you know, that was good.
Now that was a lot of fun though.
I felt like Meredith from Brave,so I absolutely love that.

(11:45):
And then I did do the bull riding and why Tell me why it is
so much harder than you think it's going to be.
I thought I was going to sit, stay on that bull for like a
minute or two or like, you know,I stayed on for like 5 seconds
and I like fly right off. And I tried it multiple times
and every time I feel like I gotworse and worse.

(12:06):
And I don't know why it's so hard to stay on.
And it's like you can't grip, like you can't like squeeze with
your legs as much as you want. Like, I don't know, it's just
like not enough. And I just went flying all
around and I noticed that the people who did better were in
shorts. So I'm thinking that maybe that
skin contact with the bowl holdsyou on tighter.

(12:29):
This is a mechanical bowl. Why, by the way, I don't know if
I said that I would never ride areal bowl.
First of all, I wouldn't want toput myself in danger like that.
And second of all, I think it's wrong to do that to the animals.
So this was a mechanical bowl. But yeah, so the people, in
short, stayed on a bit longer. So I don't know if that was an

(12:52):
advantage or what, but I tried and it didn't go well, but it
was still super fun. I had a lot of fun.
I was worried I would get hurt when I went flying off.
But the padding underneath is like, you know, super soft so
you don't get hurt if you fall off.
I mean, unless you bounce out ofthat padding ring or hit the
bowl somehow when you're falling, I guess.

(13:14):
But it was all super safe, more or less.
And so after that, then a couplemy friends and I got some iced
coffee from the coffee cart, which was not free.
You did have to pay for that. O we did get that and I got an
iced vanilla latte which was super good.
And then eventually dinner time rolled around and Saturday for

(13:37):
dinner they had fried chicken and mashed potatoes and corn and
also salad bar again. So that was super yummy.
It tasted a lot like KFC. So it kind of took me back
because I feel like when I was in high school and stuff, we, my
family and I, we would get KFC to go for dinner sometimes.
And also when I was super young in like elementary school, they

(14:03):
used to do these days where likeyou could have family come to
school and then like you would pick out books and you would
have like a picnic lunch and like they would read with you
and stuff. And so my mom would always come
with KFC. And so I, I just have a special
heart for KFCI. Love it.

(14:25):
But yeah. So that was really good.
And then they did another group discussion that was led by the
leaders. And then eventually the night
was coming to a close and they did some campfire and worship
music, which I absolutely love that I love a nice, good
campfire with S'mores, which we did have.

(14:47):
We got to roast our own marshmallows and we even had to
go hunt for our own sticks because they forgot sticks.
So I probably ate an Ant or two or something, but it's OK.
I mean, that's protein, right? So yeah, so the s'mores and like
worship music around the campfire was so fun.

(15:09):
I absolutely loved it. I love the smell of like smoke
campfires, you know, so good. And then also there was, it was
super dark at this point, but wedid glow stick capture the flag.
And that was very disorienting because it was super pitch black

(15:31):
out there. And then you're wearing these
glow sticks, but then you're also trying to run and tag
people because they're trying tocome into your territory to
capture their flag and bring it back to their side.
And you're trying to do the sameon their side.
So it was just like crazy, like when you're running in the dark
with these glow sticks. But it was super fun.
NYU won like 3 times in a row, so go NYU.

(15:56):
So that was a lot of fun. And then they also did a super
late at night activity, spicy ramen to see who can eat the
ramen the fastest. And then also you're after you
eat it, you're not allowed to drink water or wipe your face or
do any of those things. And so to see who could stick it

(16:17):
out the longest. I didn't end up staying up for
that because it was already midnight at this point and I was
so tired and I typically go to bed super early.
So I decided to skip out and just go get ready for bed.
But I heard that that event was super fun and it was pretty
funny too. And then Sunday rolled around

(16:40):
and that was our last day. So we had breakfast in the
morning and there were tater tots, which as you know, I love
that. I just love it.
And then there were sausage and eggs, and they also had super
big cinnamon rolls. And so it was just all super
good. I absolutely love the food.
I love the food that my Davis Navigators retreat used to have

(17:03):
in Lake Tahoe. So yeah, it was awesome.
And then we had another group discussion and we had some more
family time and time alone with God, which was really nice.
And then lunchtime rolled aroundand they had pasta and a salad
bar and garlic bread and it was super good.

(17:24):
I absolutely loved it. And then after lunch, we packed
up all of our luggage and we packed up the cars and me and
the other driver had already decided that I was going to
start the drive this time and drive us halfway.
And then she was going to do theend half, especially since she

(17:44):
still had to drive into New Jersey after dropping us off on
campus. So just to cut down on her drive
time. I drove in the beginning.
So that was fun. I really enjoy driving and I
don't get to drive at all while I'm here in New York City.
So I'm glad I had that one so I don't forget how to drive.

(18:06):
I mean, I don't know, can you forget how to drive?
Or is it more like riding a bike?
You know, like, you just don't forget.
But I don't know, I just don't want to forget how to drive.
So I'm glad to have had that to refresh my mind at least.
And yeah, it was just so fun getting to spend time with
everybody and getting to have such a relaxing weekend out in

(18:28):
nature and to just, you know, leave the city for a little bit,
you know, all the chaos and stuff.
And it was also a pretty stormy weekend here in the city, so it
was nice to go out to somewhere where it wasn't super stormy.
And I will say though, in Massachusetts, it was absolutely
freezing. I was so cold.

(18:50):
And, you know, it wasn't. It was like, I think in the 50s
and high 40s, which I know doesn't even probably sound bad
to that many people. But mind you, I'm from
California and anything below 65is like freezing to me.
So yeah, it was pretty cold and I'm probably going to be doomed

(19:10):
for the winter snow here. And a lot of people were telling
me I need to upgrade my jacket for sure because, you know, I
was like, this was my winter coat I had in California.
Is this good enough? And they're like, you might want
to invest in a different 1. So we'll see about that.
But yeah, overall it was just a super fun packed weekend.

(19:31):
And I actually don't have schoolon Monday or today, Tuesday,
because Monday is Indigenous People Day, so our school gives
that off. And then Tuesday is supposed to
follow a Monday schedule, but I don't have classes on Monday, so
I didn't have class on Tuesday this week.

(19:54):
So that was a nice little break. And I'm also supposed to be
starting my first day of my new job today, so I'm super excited
about that. I'm going to be tutoring at an
elementary school and I'm going to be working with
kindergarteners. So I'm very excited for that.
And I will give you guys an update next week on how my first

(20:17):
day went. But, and it's not too far from
me either, which is really nice.I don't have to, you know,
travel all over New York to get there.
So I'm super excited. And I can't wait to meet all the
little kiddies. I think they're going to be the
best. And I just love younger kids.
I think they're really fun and Ithink it's going to be fun to

(20:38):
teach them. So yeah, I hope you guys all
have a great rest of your week, and I'll be talking to you next
week. Bye Two Men with a Mic is

(21:08):
we go wild and high high school days were tough, but all we had
enough blasting tunes. Rock was roughly dance.
We laughed, we laughed, tell thestories laid off right
underneath your city lives. Rock ruled our every night

(21:31):
memories echo. Let goes off the fight.
The stage was our domain, teenage hurricane, no glory
without the pain. But we did all again.

(21:52):
Then posters on the wall, dreamsfelt like they stood tall.
Saints stands on sunset like allwe were kings before the fall.
And so he's lit up. Right underneath your city lies,
rock ruled our every night. Memories echo, echoes are

(22:15):
goodbye. The
stage was our domain. A teenage hurricane.

(22:39):
No glory without the pain. But we did all again.
Posters on the wall. Dreams felt like they stood
