(00:00):
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening.
Whenever you are welcome to two men with a mic.
Good morning. Good.
Morning, Sir, How's it going? Good morning.
I'm now a female. Oh my God, Mitch went Tran, now

(00:28):
we have to call him Michina. Oh well, it should work out.
So Michina, how you like in New York City and and Jen and Amber

(00:49):
Ina. Well, I just love it here.
Yeah. Been to New York or anything.
So, you know, it's a lot of people, brother.
There are a lot of people in NewYork.
Yeah. Yeah, you don't need a car.

(01:14):
I wouldn't even want a car here.There's like, I don't they had a
outlaw cars in New York. Be honest with you.
So that, I mean, we saw an ambulance stuck in traffic.
It's like, well, whoever they were going to help is dead.
I mean, yeah, it's yeah, they'rethey're they're not going to

(01:35):
they're not going to do anything.
There's a lot of people here, but it's pretty cool.
She's got a nice apartment all made-up and decorated, and they
wouldn't let me remodel it. I had all kinds of suggestions.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Jen's a, a, a peeping mom.

(01:59):
He's well, because like, Amber'swhole wall is windows.
And then, like, you know, there's apartment buildings and
hotels and stuff like that, and,you know, nobody closes their
curtain. So some dude was standing in the
buff staring out the window, drinking a cup of coffee, stuff

(02:19):
like that. OK, well, welcome to New York.
Well, all right, so let's tell the audience the the audience of
when Math had banging her head against the law.
Well, no. So, OK, so Mitch's daughter is
going to go to NYU now for grad school.

(02:40):
And so Mitch and his lovely wifeJen and their beautiful daughter
Amber are in New York City. New York City, get a rope.
Probably no one remembers that ad, but yeah, so now this is
exciting. That's like a major place and

(03:02):
you guys are there and so. Yeah, what?
So what have you, what's what's there?
What have you done? You're you're going to redesign
the. Department, Yeah.
So today we. Oh, no, I'm sorry.
Not today. Yesterday we hopped on.
I rode a subway yesterday. I mean, I've rode the I rode the

(03:24):
San Francisco Bart, but the New York subway is mostly
underground. Yeah.
You know, you don't do that in California because of
earthquakes and such, but it's mainly above ground.
But so we rode the subway system, which was literally
packed like sardines with people.

(03:47):
I could totally see how COVID and Blues and, you know,
anything like that could, you know, spread easily because I
mean, you're, you're, you're literally bumping into people
and touching people and, and allthat.
But we rode the subway. We went to Amber's favorite

(04:08):
place, the New York Public Library.
So. Do you bet that Ghost is there,
right? Yeah, yeah, I'm sure.
And those tiger statues that turn, that become alive, those
were there. So we did that.

(04:29):
We went to a diner called the Stardust Diner and it's
basically where all the actors who are in between plays at on
Broadway. Basically.
And they sing the whole time, sothey're constantly, it's like
live entertainment and they're singing songs and stuff like
that. And they're your waiter.

(04:50):
So yeah, it was cool. It was, you know, entertaining.
Yeah. That kind of deal.
We went to Grand Central Station.
I was, you know, looking for, you know, John Mcclane or or
somebody to run be running through there, but nothing was
happening. So.

(05:12):
Oh, yeah. And then we went and hung out at
Strawberry Fields forever. So that was cool.
How was that it? You know, I mean, it really
wasn't that exciting other than it was in a song.
I mean, they have a a memorial and they've got a circle mosaic

(05:37):
tile thing in the middle of it, kind of where that says imagine.
And then they keep music, live music playing there every hour
for like all day, every day. So there's musicians that, you

(05:58):
know, every hour a new musician comes and, and plays, you know,
live Beatles songs and stuff. So, you know, that was pretty
cool. And it was a, it was fun.
I mean all kinds of like cart guys selling Beatles art,

(06:18):
Beatles memorabilia and like that.
And then couple of couple of ladies, you know, selling water
bottle $1.00 one dollar $1.00 water, water agua Agua key
$1.00, one dollar $1.00. So they were out there hustling

(06:38):
water bottles for a dollar and, you know, hot dog carts and and
horse carriages and, you know, all that stuff.
But yeah, it was, it was, it waspretty cool.
I mean, it was nice. We didn't walk the whole, you

(07:00):
know, park because Amber just about killed us.
And it was it was a lot. It was a lot.
But, you know, so at one point we're she said, Oh yeah, we can
walk to Central Park from here. It's only a few blocks.
Well, her her version of few blocks is like miles.

(07:23):
Yeah. Not city blocks.
So about 1/4 of the way into it,we're all like, can we just get
a cab? So we got a cab and then she
didn't drop us off all the way in the right part, so we still
had to walk. Yeah, a lot of walking here.

(07:44):
Definitely a lot of walking. But so the the like the the
streets are just gridlock everywhere.
Yep. Really.
And so, yeah, what? What are so?
But people do have cars and theydo inch their way through the
city. Yeah, we were right here by

(08:04):
Amber's apartment and all of a sudden this, this lady just
comes, it's kind of night time and she just curiously, y'all
gotta back up, just back up. This road is closed for hours.
There's an accident. Just back up, just just car and
back up. And she's walking down the

(08:24):
street screaming at him. I'm the first car.
We ain't going nowhere for hours.
Just back up and then. And then like, she gets to an
intersection and some bicyclistsride behind a car and she's
like, what the hell is wrong with you?
Don't you see that car backing up?
What the hell? Just let them back up.

(08:50):
Oh, my God. So yeah, the cops weren't even
there because they can't ever get anywhere.
Oh, hi, baby. Out there.
Some black lady out there screaming and everybody's back
up. Wow.
Well, it, it is. What's the vibe like?
Is there like a threat in the air?

(09:11):
I mean, is, is there hostility? The, the reputation about New
York is everyone's rude. And if you look at somebody for
too long, you're gonna get stabbed.
No, I haven't felt that. Jen says she has.
But yeah, I feel like that at all.
I mean, there's a lot of, you know, I guess pot's legal here.

(09:31):
Reminds me, you know, I just every street you walk down
smells like weed. So a lot of pot.
But no, I mean, I had a homelessperson begging me for money.
So I gave him a dollar. They're like a dollar and I'm
like, all right, give it back. Yeah.

(09:53):
And then, well, no, another guy came up and and asked for, you
know, and I, he goes, no, I don't, I don't, I don't want no
slice of pizza 'cause we had a pizza.
I don't want no slice of pizza. And Jen's like, well, he already
gave his dollar to the other lady over there and I'm like, go
get it with her. She don't want it.
Oh boy, there's a little bit of that going on, but.
Yeah. You know, I mean no worse than

(10:16):
San Francisco. Yeah.
Amber's got a nightclub across the street on the top of the
roof from her apartment, so you can hear the music every night
going. You know, they're banging the
music over there and stuff. But yeah, yeah.

(10:38):
No, it's it's. I don't know.
I don't, I mean other than I mean it is packed like San
Francisco, but San Francisco youI would say, I mean very, I mean
it's about 5050 that need cars in San Francisco.
For one, it's got a lot of hills.
Yeah. And and people, you know, work
out at the city and stuff like that, I guess.

(10:58):
But here I don't see any electric.
That's something that's different.
I don't see any of the electric cars here.
But really, yeah, we we went to that Stardust.
They were over there Jackhammer in the streets up and you know,
just like in anything you expectright in the middle of the day.

(11:20):
But you know, it it just just a lot of a lot of different things
going on at the library. There's an area called Bryant
Park that was really cool. Yeah.
Yeah, we, it's like got all kinds of stuff going on, a
couple of Charis wheel car, whatare they called?

(11:41):
Carousels and they did somethingcool.
So it was free games in the parks.
They had a bunch of tables and then a bunch of board games like
Scrabble and chess and you know Domino's and all that and people
could just go pick out a game and sit down and play.
So there were a lot of families there just playing board games

(12:03):
outside in the park and stuff. So that was pretty cool.
And we, we stopped and got some very good waffles, like from a
waffle place that, you know, like, what is this waffle funnel
cake? Like, like funnel cake.
Yeah, way better, but like a funnel cake.

(12:26):
So, so that was cool at Bryant Park and, and everything that
was going on there and stuff. So yeah, we, you know, a lot of
fun stuff today. I'm going to learn Amber's
school route, so that'll be kindof cool.
This'll be like how she goes to school every day.

(12:46):
Does she have roommates? No, no.
Oh boy. I mean, it's kind of like a
dorm. I mean, literally it's just got
a bathroom. Yeah, it's a studio.
So it's just got a maybe a 12 by12 bedroom area.
So she's got a bed, a desk and Aand a nice closet.
And, you know, not a not a desk size refrigerator, but the next

(13:11):
size up and a microwave and the bathroom.
OK, Yeah. I mean, but, you know, it's nice
She's on the 11th floor, so she can, you know, see the skyline
and and look over the top of thebuilding across the street and
stuff like that. So, yeah, it's pretty nice.
Not too bad. Cool, man.

(13:34):
Yeah. So we're gonna go, we're gonna
try and hit the Statue of Liberty and go to the 9/11
memorial for the World Trade Center.
OK, you guys gotta go to the topof the Empire State Building
too, right? Well, they charged for that
dude. It ain't free.
Really. Yeah.
How much does it cost to go up there, $95.

(13:56):
We know we're not going on top of the Empire State Building.
That's per person, too. 95 bucksper person.
Oh, that's crazy. That's stupid.
Fuck your city. Yeah.
See that place man? I'll go watch When Harry Met
Sally or something. You OK?

(14:19):
So New York's supposed to have the greatest pizza in the world,
though? What's that?
And New York is supposed to havethe greatest pizza in the world.
Yeah, I mean, that it wasn't. It was good.
Yeah. No, they cut it into big slices
and stuff. I ate, you know, a whole pizza.

(14:39):
Yeah, but wait, so. Were you like, Oh my God, yeah,
this significantly better than the pizza in California?
Or were you like, yeah, you know, Domino's got that special
pizza with the white sauce and yeah.
No, I mean, it's definitely better than Domino's or
something like that, but. No, I'm just kidding.

(15:01):
But but no, that is the reputation is like, yeah, it's
supposed to be great pizza in New York if you go to the right
place. Yeah, well, we, we went to one
place and we will find another pizza place today and get a
slice or something. But the one I got today was, I
mean, yes, there. By campus there's a place called
Joe's Pizza. It's only like 3 bucks for this

(15:24):
slice. Bigger than my head and it's
cash only. Favorite pizza in the city.
OK, OK, so there for lunch. Oh, that sounds great.
Joe's Pizza man, you can't go wrong with Joe's Pizza.
Joe's pizza man. And then, yeah, the other thing.

(15:47):
So we went to the movies here. Oh yeah.
Give it a shot. We went and saw the new Freaky
Friday movie that came. Yeah.
So yeah, the movie theaters heresuck though.
Dude, I'm sorry. Maybe it was because we went to
the last show, the 10:00 show last night or something.

(16:10):
Yeah. Dude, I ordered so it's, it's
the the theater is kind of like they're, they're set up like our
movie studio grill type movie theaters where you go and you
basically get your chair and it's got a swing tabletop,
right. And you order your food and they
bring it to you, right. So they don't the concessions

(16:32):
and stuff. But so I ordered coffee.
The dude brings me a cold cup ofcoffee and tries to serve it to
me. Yeah.
And. And he's all like, oh, I'm all
like, this isn't even hot. And he goes, oh, yeah, it's the
end of the day and we're not brewing anymore.
And I'm like. Well, what the fuck are you?

(16:53):
Bringing it for me. Well, you know, what are you
doing? I'm all like, I I don't want
this and and he's all like, oh, well, I can take it off the
bill. He's do you think?
No. He's he's all.
Do you want me to bring you a cup of bite?
Yeah, it was. It was just like, are you
kidding? Me and then for their candies
they only had two What? What is M and?

(17:14):
M's and. Sour patch What?
No red wines? No.
No Red Vines, no Reese's, but they had.
A lot of other good food optionslike wings, pizza, mozzarella
sticks, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, regular loaded, the

(17:36):
works, burgers like grilled cheese.
OK. But but no candy, it just.
Yeah. So some of it, you know, it's
different. I just can't.
I just don't understand how you'd go to the movies and not

(17:57):
get Red Vines and Reese's and M&M's and Junior Man.
Well, they had M&M, Junior Man, You know what I mean?
I mean, I got to be able to havea few different candies.
Yeah, so but. The movie was a 10 out of 10.
Super funny. Oh.

(18:17):
Really. You guys liked it?
It was, it was, it was funny. Yeah.
Yeah, I was laughing, dying, buddy.
Yeah, it was, it was, you know, it had, it had good comedy in
it. I mean, the storyline isn't
anything miracle breaking, you know what I mean?
It's not like we haven't seen that 50 times already.
You were. Laughing so hard I thought you
might need the pen. But well, how was like the

(18:46):
theater itself? Was it clean?
Was was the projection sound good?
Or I mean, the people were fine, but.
It was reclining seats. Yeah, it was reclining seats and
stuff, and, you know, you got the TV tray and all that, but it
it was, you know, it was OK. There's yeah, theaters too.

(19:10):
This. Is just the one that by me, but
there's like other ones, there'slike this was just like a local
place. It wasn't like a chain like
Regal or Antsy or anything like that.
Yeah. Oh, OK, But yes, she got a huge
mall right here behind her apartment, so there's.

(19:32):
All that's big, she can get groceries and stuff.
Yeah, she's got a Target and a Trader Joe's.
Those are her two go to's anyway.
Oh, OK. And at the library yesterday I
got my NYU Public Library card. What and?

(19:54):
I want to live at the New York Library.
It is amazing. Is it though?
Is it like a big place and like this?
It's yeah. And they've tried to, like,
preserve as much of the historical building as possible.
So it's got like probably like the natural pillars and like
architecture and doorknobs and it was just so beautiful.

(20:21):
Yeah, they, well, she, she always wanted to go into one of
those rooms where the books go all the way to the ceiling, you
know, and stuff like that, and had all the for like research
and stuff. So they had a model and I found
it where it was. So we, I go, let's, let's go up
here. I didn't tell her what was in
it, but we went up there. But then there was security at

(20:42):
the door and they were telling people, no, only researchers can
get in here because it's not open to the public.
You have to be a a researcher tocome in here.
So we were standing there and Amber saw like another student
or whatever, show them their ID and she had her NYUID.
I'm like Amber. Well, then just go, just show
them your ID and go in. You're a master.

(21:04):
You know, you're working on yourmaster's degree.
They're not going to know, you know, you have your NYUID.
So she did it. She went in there and showed him
her NYUID and and and then, you know, it took forever for.
I sat down. I was just looking around and
looking. The ceiling was like cotton
candy looking, and it was just so cool.

(21:26):
It was flat, yeah, but it was really cool.
And there was big windows with natural lighting.
And they had those, like, cute little green historic lamps that
have the little chain that you have to pull to turn it on and
just aisles and aisles of, like, tables with chairs.
And it honestly looks like Oxford's not gonna lie.

(21:51):
Oh, that's cool. Yeah, so she's all set up so she
can go to the library and do herresearch.
I'm gonna. Be there every day.
Wow. Overnight day.
You can stay overnight in the library.
I wish. I'm gonna wow.

(22:12):
So you're all excited and you'reready for this and and this is
great. And when mom and dad jump on the
plane and go home, you're like, cry.
Like a baby. Oh, I'll try with you.
Yeah, that's gonna be that'll bea little bit of a moment.

(22:33):
Hi, like, OK, well, we're, we'retaking off now.
You're we're leaving to you in New York City.
Well, and I, I was like sobbing when they dropped me off for UC
Davis's, like moving day. I was like.
Bawling my eyes out. That was five years ago.
I know. Yeah, can't believe that time

(22:54):
went so quickly. But anyway, that's I'm very
excited for you. I want you to be careful there
though. I mean it, it does have a Rep
and, and I on Saturday there wasa big stabbing down in Did you
hear about that? I did.
I think it was in Harlem. Oh, I thought it was.

(23:14):
What's that mean? You know, like where they did
New Years and all that stuff? Central square?
Is that what it's called? Yeah, I thought it was Central
Square or something. Times Square or Times Square?
There's been a few that I've read online about, so there's
probably multiple. Yeah, you got it.

(23:36):
I just want you to be extra careful there, yeah.
That was probably the yeah, theyprobably bled out and died
because the ambulance can't get anywhere.
I. Think the ambulance is stuck in
grid. They they the ambulance drivers
just like jumped on the subway to get there.
Where's the youngest? We had to leave it which the
traffic wasn't moving at all. So is there a sense there?

(24:03):
Like people say there's a real sense of history because you
know, the way America was settled, like we everybody
arrived on the East Coast 1st and so New York and those cities
got built and then slowly the rest of the they started going
West and the rest of the countrykind of got built.
But like, one of the first cities is, is New York.

(24:27):
So people say there's a very deep sense of like history and
memory and like ghosts and, you know, just weird energies from
the ages and all that. So yeah.
Does it have that? Do you?
Does it feel like an old city with stories to tell?
Yeah, yeah, there's definitely some of that.

(24:49):
You know, you look at these buildings and you know, they're,
they're old and stuff. So you know, you could, you
could have some fun here, right? You could really get into some
of the older buildings and a lotof sneaky stuff underground for
sure. All these businesses and stuff

(25:09):
have storage under the basement, under the buildings and stuff.
And you know, I'm sure there's there's all the subways and
platforms everywhere and stuff like that, you know, so it's it
could we only seen like one or two rats.
I was expecting to see like, youknow, a whole marching army of

(25:32):
rats picketing or something. That or.
Giant. Cockroaches, yeah, No, I haven't
seen any of that. So we met a really right next to
Amber's apartment. Here is a Mediterranean
restaurant and I went in there to get a cup of coffee the other
night. Yeah.

(25:54):
We started talking to the guy and really nice guy.
It's just like amazingly nice and stuff.
And we were talking to him and then and then, you know, that
we, you know, told him about Amber being going to Greece and
and all that. And they were talking a little
bit. And then we were getting ready
to leave. And Jen.

(26:15):
Jen looked at him. So you're going to watch out for
our daughter, right? And he goes, oh, yeah, she can
come in here anytime and sit down.
He was, you know, he but he was sincere.
Yeah, it was. It was all like, yeah, I'll make
her food. She can come in here anytime and
sit down. You know, if she needs anything,
just come see me. My name is Ali, you know, and.

(26:40):
And so he was an older, you know, he's like an older guy,
Like, you know, he looked like adad or something and just just
really nice. So I mean, other than people
being kind of rude in general, like bumping into you and trying
to get from point A to point B kind of thing.
Yeah. Yeah.

(27:00):
There is no personal space. But, you know, I mean, we talked
to him and he, he's probably theonly person I've really like
talked to here. And he was genuinely nice.
I mean, you know, so, you know, that's been my limited
experience with the people and stuff.
But yeah, everybody's trying to get somewhere and there's a

(27:23):
there's just a lot of people. The sidewalks are really big
here. Something I noticed.
It's like this city is set up for people to walk and not
vehicles to drive, whereas like San Francisco is the opposite.
It's set up for vehicles to drive and not really for people
to walk. Like the sidewalks in San

(27:44):
Francisco are maybe 1/3 of the sidewalk size here in New York
and stuff. So that is something I noticed.
Oh. OK, yeah, well, cool.
You know, there's a lot of museums and stuff there too.
Yeah, he wants to get. Can we get a museums at all or?

(28:06):
I don't know. I don't know if we'll make it
just 'cause we're running out oftime.
Yeah. Yeah, she with her, with her
library card. She gets one free admission into
the Museum of Natural History where they filmed Night at the
Museum, which is a great movie, by the way.
That's fun. Robin Williams.
Yeah, yeah, that's a fun one. We are checking out Coney Island

(28:30):
tomorrow though. Oh, that's cool.
Did they have a good roller coaster there?
Huh. An old wooden roller coaster.
Yep, and they have the best hot dogs.
Yeah, I got a hot dog off the street card.
I wasn't super impressed. You know, I haven't, you know,
I, I guess I haven't seen anything that has like outdone,

(28:57):
you know, California as far as the, the food, right.
We, we got some beef brisket last night.
That was, you know, their BBQ sauce was, you know, OK, not
very good. It is New York though, so I
don't think they're really knownfor BBQ sauce.
Yeah. And the hot dog I got off the

(29:17):
cart on the street was, you know, wasn't, definitely was not
better than a Dodger dog. I've had quite a few Dodger
dogs. So that that that didn't stand
out. The movie theater didn't really
impress me over California. No, because like, like mom and I

(29:42):
have gone to that. That one we went to in, in where
it was at Redwood City or someplace over there by us, man,
it was like a total luxury, fullon theater.
It was, it was, it was, it was pretty nice.
I mean, this, this was a good experience.
It wasn't bad. It wasn't bad, I feel.

(30:04):
Like the food is like better more in Manhattan.
Like we haven't, yeah. We didn't really eat much over
there, but the like the restaurants are like better and
that's probably because it's more of the tourist area and
they want to like impress. Them and yeah back and then by
by then amber will have all the restaurants lined up for us I'm

(30:27):
sure be like OK we're gonna go here for tacos we're.
Gonna there is a really good Taco place next to my school
that's really good too. Oh, that's good pizza and tacos
and we'll just. Get a little bit of each place.
Yeah, well, I mean, that Stardust Diner had good food.

(30:47):
I mean, I mean, it didn't it wasgood, but I mean it, it didn't
like, it didn't define anything different.
Like you would have served at itanywhere else.
I mean, I don't know, I, I can'texplain it.
Like, you know, when you go to arestaurant and you have food,
they they they do something thatdefines it for that restaurant.

(31:08):
I just haven't seen that here, You know, I haven't, you know,
you tasted like a pizza from anypizzas, only it tasted like a,
you know, eggs and and I got eggs and bacon and when I get a
waffle French toast, you know, and yeah, it's like eggs, bacon

(31:29):
and French toast, you know? Yeah.
So yeah, it's it's it is cool, though.
I love the Spider Man water tanks.
I don't know why I always call them that, but, you know, the
water tanks on top of all these buildings that.
Was there a scene in Spider Man where something to do with one
of these water tanks on the building?

(31:49):
I don't know, probably. But.
For Spider Man to do. Yeah, but I could totally see
how Spider Man could fly throughthese streets.
But they're still so tall and the streets kind of narrow and
stuff. Yeah, you could.
I could totally do it. I could totally be Spider Man
here. Well, that's what you you send

(32:13):
me a video. That's what I well, you sent me
a video looking out Amber's window.
And I was like, oh, well, that'sperfect.
She should be able to, like, slip out the window and spider
woman and web sling all over theplace and yeah, come back in and
know it'll notice. So are you?
Are you ready to fight crime in New York, Amber?
Oh yes I am. I got pepper spray.

(32:38):
Where are your web slingers, man?
Yeah, she's got a a, It's prettycool.
We, we, we went up there on the top of her building.
They've got a rooftop deck. You can go up there about lounge
chairs and stuff like that. So it was nice.
We went up there the other evening and just sat around and
talked and I drank my Norwegian. What was that?

(33:00):
Coffee? Turkish.
Turkish coffee. How is Turkish coffee dude?
It was good. Was the maid was real Turkey?
Sorry. That was very bad.
Well, yeah. So this is great.
What? What else?
What else is there to do? What's left for you?

(33:22):
Well, we just, we're going to goon.
We're getting ready to head out now on an adventure and go see
Amber's. I want to ride.
I want to go like how Amber's going to go to school.
So so we know how that so I knowhow that goes and we'll go check
out her buildings. It's not really like a college
campus like you'd expect in California where it take it

(33:43):
takes up 100 acres and has fields of grass everywhere and
buildings with different studiesin them and stuff like that.
These are just basically streetsof commercial buildings in in
this building is NYU, you know, so it's not really a campus life

(34:04):
where you can go out and sit on a bench with squirrels and trees
and stuff like that, you know, or take a blanket and sit on the
grass and hang out and stuff. It's not like that.
So. Oh, OK.
Yeah, it's a little bit a littlebit different, but I see.
Yeah. That's that's what we're getting

(34:26):
ready to do. How much longer are you going to
be there? We come home tomorrow.
Oh. OK, tomorrow night.
Alright, How about Broadway, dude?
I bet, I bet Amber and Jen want to see a Broadway chef.
Yeah, it's expensive, but yeah, Amber would love to see like

(34:47):
Mamma Mia, but we got to see allthe Broadway actors at that
Stardust restaurant. I mean, I would recommend, I
mean, of what I've seen, I'd recommend everyone go to that
that that Stardust restaurant. It was a fun way to eat.
And they don't charge extra. It's not like you have to buy a

(35:08):
a ticket. It's basically like a Denny's,
you know, or any other restaurant, right?
You just go in and sit down. Although there was a line, you
know, so we had to wait in line outside to get in.
But the food, the food was good.It wasn't bad.
It was good service. And they just are constantly

(35:31):
singing. So someone's waiter is they have
this center stage area and they go, it's got a, they have a
mezzanine or, you know, second floor and it's open in the
middle. And basically if you're upstairs
or downstairs, the singers go upstairs and sing and walk
around to everybody and, and sing.

(35:51):
And then they have a, a center stage area downstairs and they
go on there and sing and they'rejust, it's constantly someone
singing and your food's coming. They got busboys and food comes
out hot. You know, it was, it was good
service and the entertainment totally free.

(36:14):
I mean, they, they, they pass the bucket, you know, like they
all do for tips. And then they split that among
all the waiters to help them getsinging lessons and acting
lessons and to get on. But they're all Broadway, you
know, inspiration. They all want to get on
Broadway. Some of them have been on
Broadway, you know, and they're in between shows and stuff like

(36:38):
that. So.
Cool man. Yeah, and.
Well, that's great, dude. Did you ever think he'd be in
New York City? No, no, I I never thought I'd
have a reason to come here, but apparently I do now.
Yeah. So.
But overall, it's so far, it hasnot been bad.

(36:59):
You know what I mean? That I haven't, you know, it's
just, there's just a lot of people.
So you just got to know that, you know, I mean, it's like, OK,
so there's people. Yeah, and there's no need for a
car. Is there in Central Park, is
there any chance for like privacy or like, oh, I found
this little spot in the trees and no one's here and now I can.

(37:21):
Just keep that. Yeah, there's a little bit, I
mean, not every, I mean, there'sa lot of people around, but
people put blankets on the grassand, and yeah, it's huge.
You could, you could find a place to chill, probably.
I mean it's not going to be, youknow, like no one around, but
you know, people leave you aloneand and stuff.

(37:43):
So do any of you guys want to move to New York City and live
there now? No, it's too, it's too much for
for for too much walking. Yeah.
It's not a, it's not an old people place for the young.
Yeah. You know, I mean, yeah, it's,

(38:04):
it's pretty tough on the I'm getting around.
Amber's over here laughing. She just takes what?
Cuz it's a lot of walking dude. Yeah, she's young.
So it's like, what are you talking about?
Yeah, but no, that's, I mean that's something, I mean it

(38:27):
means like. When you go get groceries,
you're going to be schlepping them back and stuff.
Although I guess you could have your groceries delivered these
days, huh? Yeah.
But she's got a cart that she bought to do her groceries, so
she'll wheel them. OK.
Yeah. I mean, you know, it's it's

(38:47):
doable if you're organized, but you still got to walk.
You still got to walk. I mean, it's not far.
It's maybe two blocks for her atthe most.
Yeah, you still got to walk and you know it.
When you get older, that shit hurts.
Yeah, I'll walk, you know, to the.
I don't want to walk to the grocery store.

(39:08):
I already got to walk in the grocery store.
But at least you're thinking these things through, man.
Yeah. Yeah.
Well, now let's think about this.
We we got to walk to the store, but then we're also going to
have to walk inside the store. What's happening?

(39:28):
People are conspiring. Make me exercise.
No. Yeah.
When when do you classes for Amber actually start?
September 2nd. OK, so you still have the rest
of the month to party? Yeah.
And I do have orientation the week of the 18th to the 22nd,

(39:51):
OK. And my friend from Davis is
actually flying here at the end of the month to hang out for a
few days as well. Oh, OK, that's cool.
Yeah. I was going to ask, do you have
any friends that are also going to the to NYU who were with you

(40:12):
at Davis or anything? No, I don't.
So I'm starting fresh, but I have a lot of people scheduled
to like visit and stuff throughout the month, so that's
nice. Well, yeah, it seemed like you
kind of had an established circle of at least, you know,
two or three girlfriends that you were hanging out with.

(40:34):
Yeah. Are they coming to visit you or
or Yeah. So the the one that's coming at
the end of the month, she was also in that friend group.
So she's going to be staying fora few days.
She still has one more quarter to finish off at David's.

(40:56):
OK. So she'll be done with her
degree in December. OK.
But she's actually studying abroad right now.
She's an engineering major, but she's studying abroad in the
Netherlands right now. So that's why she was like, oh,
I'll just stop in New York on myway back so that way we can hang

(41:17):
out, OK? That's cool.
Yeah. Excellent.
Who's this person that's coming to visit you first?
Yeah. Oh well.
Oh yeah. Oh, she's my.
Friend, her name's Leilani. Oh, OK.

(41:39):
We're just trying to make sure, you know, make sure it wasn't a
guy or something, so. Hey, on a on another note
brother, I forgot to tell you this just happened yesterday,
but mom's in the hospital. Oh no.
So she's got pneumonia. Uh oh.

(42:03):
So if you wanna reach out to herand say, hey, I wouldn't do it
this early. She's asleep, but probably.
But you know, this afternoon or this evening.
Oh, OK. I definitely will do that.
The number. That I have for her, that's just
her cell phone or whatever. Yeah, you can.

(42:24):
You should be able to reach her on that.
OK. If not text me.
I'll send you the hospital and room number.
OK, yeah, I'll definitely check on her.
But and she just went into the hospital.
Yesterday, yeah. And if you do call, just just
say you're like her son Michael or something like that, because
they're kind of difficult, OK, to talk to her.

(42:49):
You know how they are at the hospital.
Right. Yeah, OK.
I will reach out to her. Is there anything scary?
Is she stable or? Yeah, yeah.
I mean, I talked to her. She seemed, she she seemed
alright. I mean, you, you know, hard to
hear cause of all the congestionand stuff like that.
But other than that, she's OK. So OK.

(43:18):
OK, I'll definitely. Yeah, I'll reach out to her.
OK. So wow, so today's like your
last full day and then tomorrow's the travel day.
Yep, tomorrow's the travel day, so we got to play the game early
and then get the players on the plane and head to the new city.

(43:40):
OK, well, amazing. Are are you guys like, wow, I'm
so glad we have the opportunity to do this, you know, Like what?
Oh yeah. Yeah, I'm, I'm definitely glad
I'm here and get to see it and hang out and be a part of, you
know, her world and see, you know, what's, what's going on in

(44:04):
her world and, and just just just kind of know it, you know,
So it's not as easy to get here as it was to get to David.
Oh. OK, Yeah.
So. Well, do you think you'll be
going back out there to visit her?
How long is she going to be there, like 2 years or
something? Two years.
Yeah, Yeah. So you'll be, you'll be going
back to visit, Yeah. Or is she or I don't know, like

(44:26):
is, is the Amber like, Yep. I think I'll live in New York.
City. Well, we'll see.
I mean, no, when she was youngershe was talking about it.
California is my favorite place. You can't.
Be exposed, yeah. I'm a beach girl at heart.
OK, well, yeah, but there, there's beaches there too,
right? Yeah, but they're not as good as

(44:48):
ours. Like, the sand's mushy and cold
and the water's like an iceberg, you know, it's not like, sunny,
warm sand. And, you know, like, yeah, our
water can be cold, but like, youcan go, like, waist deep and,
like, endure it, you know what Imean?
Or wear a wet suit and be OK. And we actually have waves.

(45:10):
They don't really have a ton of waves here.
So there's not like surfing or anything like that.
OK, isn't Coney Island's all beach stuff right?
Yeah, they do have beaches, but. It's are you guys going to the
beach today? You said you were going to Coney
Island, right? About tomorrow morning before
they head out. Oh, OK.

(45:31):
Yeah. All right, brother.
I'm going to cut it short today because we haven't eaten.
It's almost lunchtime here. Oh, all right.
Well, it was really nice talkingto you.
I'm really excited for you, Amber.
Good luck with everything. I love you all.
Have fun sightseeing, and I'll talk to you guys later.
Love you. All right.

(45:53):
All right, peace out. We love you too, audience.
