Speaker 1 (00:17):
One, two, three. We have a quorum assembled. We can
do this thing. It's time for three guys before the game.
We welcome you and everyone. It's time to take a
deep dive into the upcoming football season. All right, it's here,
it's here. So what is the name of this show?
This is WVU Football Over Under twenty twenty five. I
(00:42):
think it says it all been talk WVU football. Brad's
got his annual over unders.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Did we check twenty twenty four? How we did?
Speaker 1 (00:50):
I did pretty good? Someone did? Yet at the end
of the last season, one usually confirms not bad. I mean,
I don't. I don't think people in Vegas are gonna
come to us and ask for our wisdom. We weren't
horrifically bad, like most things in life in the middle. Yeah,
most in the middle. So we've got several of those.
We've got textual healing. Got a good question on textual healing,
(01:12):
which allowed me to get into some numbers. Not my numbers,
Jed Drenning's numbers. But Jed gave me the Book of
the Savant sixty three pages of headherding tax code is
what he gave me. So I'll have some of those
numbers as well for you. Let's do this thing. Three
guys brought to us by Gomart. Get yourself one of
(01:34):
those Gomart rewards cards, download that app and immediately begin
saving on your food and fuel. And they've got a
football promotion going on right now where you can sign
up to walk into the stadium with the Mountaineers on
the Mountaineer Man Trip. I'll tell you how to do that.
Three guys brought to us by lou Wendell Marine Sales
in Saint Albans. They sell a family fund. Visit lou
(01:55):
Wendelmarine at sales dot com. Really heavy rain here in
Morgantown earlier today, I took my well Lulu Wendell pond
tune right down High Street. Got a couple of looks
from people, but it didn't have any problem. The blade
didn't touch the road.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
There's enough water covering roads today on the way and
you could have done that.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
Speaking of water, three Max brought to or Comax Business
Systems provides you with water cool refreshing water. They got
it all they got. They got two molecules of hydrogen
and one of oxygen H two and er. That's how
they do that thing. Water machine hop at Comax Business
Systems along with like every piece of office machinery in
(02:31):
the world that they make. They've been doing that thing
for a long long time. And three guys brought to
us by Jan Dill's attorneys at law. They won't take
no for an answer. Jan Dills and also bringing them
back into the fold. Conley CPA group, welcome back. Yeah,
the value beyond number. So Conley CPA, Right, they kind
(02:52):
of take a sabbatical when we don't have games because
Brad's thing is spreads on Stats, and when you don't
have games, we do our summer series, we don't do it.
But now we're into we're into Conley's CPA season and uh,
they're the people that sponsor spreads on Stats and they're
the only accounting firm that we know of. It doesn't
(03:12):
get nervous when April fifteenth rolls in, Like they just like, yeah,
so what it's April text, So what all the other
accounting firms they get all nervous and tight.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I mean, I don't again, I don't know why you
need to attack the entire industry. Why as you do that?
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, we talk to those CPAs. They always get nervous,
like we're helping. You know, tax deadlines. Yeah, I know
it comes every year.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
You're right, our guys don't they don't, they don't, they
don't flinch. Also, he is right about that.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Huh uh. I don't want to hope, we hope, we
hope we never lose.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Them as a client. You can up another one now.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Everything we say, hey, we're looking for a little accounting
help click yeah, yeah, exactly, don't talk to us, Bud boy. Also,
h I don't want to whatever.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
You can always tell whatever comes next after a pause
like that probably shouldn't be said yet. Exactly, this is
going to be something you should not be speaking of
what you're going to say, but it probably should wait,
which means had a meeting.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yes here, we came away, came away, Uh, came away
really good. So as the season approaches, I think three
Guys is going to be afforded the opportunity. We're going
to go out and do some public shows. Public shows
here in Morgantown, kind of like it's the first thing
(04:37):
of a football weekend for home games, all right, separate
from the food court, because we're gonna do the food
court Friday Saturdays.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Right, Stop hitting, Stop hitting, your ring on the on
that you're maybe castor you know better than that.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
This isn't a broadcast this podcast, and uh so might
do maybe have some live events on Thursdays.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
It's not that's not even confirmed. That date is not confirmed.
None of that is confirmed. And I wasn't even in
the meeting that you supposedly had yesterday without being a hobby,
and I know none of that's confirmed.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
May involve food, oh here, may involve a portion of
may involve a portion of a chicken's anatomy. It's tasted
to eat whe fried with sauces.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Homeless.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Homeless.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Dave was just in here and we were having a
general conversation about it.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
But he said, don't over promise, said exactly what he said.
We're a long way from home on that. Why don't
you talk about the food court that is.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
More confirmed coming up Fridays and Saturdays all season long.
Looking forward to that.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
And someone reached out last week on the text line
and said, my daughter, no, it didn't say this. They said, initially,
do you guys have any interest in live music for
your food court? Musician transferred, I know he got a
big an il dealt Northwestern playing Poka music in Evanston, Illinois.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
I'll tell you what, it's going to be hard to replace.
How he's dead was really good.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
So this person asks, it was a dad of a singer.
You guys interested in any of that? So you know
what normally what's that? What's that normally mean? It normally
means someone that's really not good, right, They're they're trying
to push him on you. That's your first thing. And
I said, he didn't say it was his son, didn't
say his daughter, Like are you interested? I said, if
you're Paul McCartney and you're offering to play, yes, that's
(06:29):
a pretty high bar. So he wasn't Paul McCartney. But
he sent me a link and I went played it
and I sent it to homeless Dave immediately wow, one
word wow.
Speaker 2 (06:45):
So he was immediately dismissive immediately, and it was good.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
It was being funny. That was being funny, just joke.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
So did did you know Dave's doing? Did you act
unilaterally and go yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:56):
We both said, like holy heck.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
That's probably also not confirmed, right, So it's nothing he
said is confirmed except the food court.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
We will be there for the food court. Other than that,
don't take anything literally.
Speaker 1 (07:07):

ahead of the snap and you know this is going
to be a pass?
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Well, no more more? Maybe more to the pluytment? Does
he say first down? West Virginia wore the step.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Here's the answer to your question. When I'm I'm.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Doing so, why is he out in front of this stuff?
Because he just can't help himself.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Because here's the answer to your question in that particular
when I'm in that particular space doing that. Yeah, that's
the other time I don't fool the route. Seriously, that's
the only time I don't full I think we can
have a joke, but when I'm in there, it's just
like jokes.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
So you're saying, this is a.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Big joke to you, big clown show.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Absolutely, so all of us, all we're doing is just
a big joke to you.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, you guys entertain me, make me gig like a home.
It's a good day. Yeah, all right, So let's jump
on in a lot of stuff going on last week.
We uh oh, by the way, Monday Show coming up. Historic.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
It is history. You're going to speaking of getting out
in front of things. Godd you handle it.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Take care of our guy Travis Jones technically figured it out.
What Oh yeah, okay, Okay, Now, I was counting the microphones.
I was going like, I was going like one, two,
and three, and that one was down there. I'm going like,
how the heck we gonna I thought, we need five
mics on on Monday. We're gonna have five microphones on Monday.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Okay, first time ever, because five guys, five guys before
the game.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
We're gonna be in studio Monday with new WV president
Michael Benson and Director of Athletics vice president Ren Baker.
They're all going to be in here, so's it's literally
gonna be full, and we're gonna have a little separate microphone.
We probably put Rent right there. We'll see, he's gonna
have his own little mic stand.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Awesome, Yeah, big show.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
You know you have four pots there and need another pot.
I'm gonna have to get a fifth pot over there.
We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Just do it now on the air. Just figure it
out now.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Why don't you know I thought getting an extra mic
would be better than doing this.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Oh yeah, I hate that. Yes, yeah, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
All right, let's jump in man football. Rain and Morgantown today,
first time that precipitation has impacted the Mountaineer football preparation.
I didn't go over today, but I'm assuming they had
to go inside the hand not because of the rain,
but it was lightning, mean, so you gotta be careful.
So I'm sure they went inside. And uh, we needed
the rain though horribly. Saturday, big scrimmage that'll be the second.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
What old guys stuff, I got to check the rain. Yeah,
but we needed that rain.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
We did. Anyway, let's jump in.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
If we have any listeners left by now, let's jump
into some football.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Yes, how did you put the the over runders together?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Was to offense, one defense? Okay, two offensive numbers, one
defensive number, heavy on the rushing side of the offense,
because that's going to be a key to this, and
then we'll come back with some others if we decided
to do it a second episode. I've got some others
stored up. But I've got three two offensive both rushing base,
and I've got a defensive one.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Okay, how would you like to begin?
Speaker 2 (10:53):
We can jump right into them. Let's go. I mean,
I'm fine, we are.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
I'll just do it. I'll just do a little bit
of an aside. Okay, So I spoke with I spoke
with the head football coach over at the college yesterday,
and for all of you that are watching his daily
UH press conferences, you can tell that with the exception
of day two where he kind of questioned, you know,
(11:18):
effort and things like that, which was totally expected. He
shot it one day early, like other than that, Other
than that, he has been like been really comfortable. So
I asked him that I was doing a thing, uh
afterward for a TV show for this weekend, and I said, like,
(11:40):
you seem like totally comfortable. You seem totally at piece here,
you seem like everything. He goes like, yeah, I'm good
like you, And I like, we never thought that at
this point that he would say, I've got five quarterbacks
that I can win with. And that's what he said,
I got five quarterbacks that I can went with now,
(12:00):
all in different stages of development. But I think what
that's saying is there's no one in the room right
now that won't eventually be able to help. And again
he reiterates he has no qualms whatsoever of playing multiple
quarterbacks like some coaches, you don't have if you don't
have if you play too you don't have wan da
da da Like He's like, that doesn't fit my that
(12:23):
doesn't fit my mindset. All I want to do is win.
So that's kind of interesting. We talked about it earlier.
He gave a little bit of surprising love to slot receivers.
Feels he's got some gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
There, said the said the words might be the best
group of slot receivers he's ever had.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
He did say that where's our Where's Rich gone?
Speaker 2 (12:43):
What's happened to Rich?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Well, again, he was in that oasis of the desert
walk for seventeen years. Like I mean, I think now
it's not that he doesn't isn't as intense as he was,
But I think he now has a better perspective of
what's needed and he looks at things probably and goes like, Okay,
this will work. I've played he played at every level, right,
He's played it every played in a Big ten, played
(13:05):
in the Pac twelve, He's been everywhere. He knows what
you need to have, and I think he's going like, okay,
if this continues. Now. Again, all of this is under
the preface that it's still work in progress. Right, there's
still seventeen days before they play, and then after seventeen days,
you're just gonna have to get better, get better. I
think what he's saying is there's some pieces here that
as we progress and get better, we're gonna have a chance.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
It's also evolved quite a bit too, and you can
see this in some of the jack state numbers. If
you go back in there's he seems extremely comfortable, which
I think is leading to the comfort now of multiple
guys that positions playing right. That's always been if there's
been a couple running backs he can play, they're gonna
pay a couple running backs. As you said, if he's
got three quarterbacks that can help you, there's gonna be
three quarterbacks, can play, multiple slot receivers, multiple outside receivers,
(13:52):
just okay, the next man up or who's next is
always one of those coach speak things. I just get
the sense with him he lives that. He really lives that.
And we've talked about that. With running backs. You look
at a bunch of them and physically, body type wise,
they look very similar. So I think that's part of
the comfort level. Is like, Okay, if I don't have
any bona fide Heisman Trophy candidates this year, like a
(14:13):
Pat White and Steve Slaton, like everybody's gonna get in there,
we're gonna prize.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
And I think that all changed because of the transfer
acquisitions they made after spring. I don't think they're saying
what they're saying now had they not picked up some
really good pieces that either will be prominent players. Or
will be backup players this season I think coming out
of spring. I mean we talked to him coming out
of spring, several different people on the staff and they
were like, oh, they're not doing that anymore. Go like, okay,
(14:41):
we got solid, we got internal competition at all positions,
will be okay.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Offensively, the offensive line still continues to be the biggest question.
It's not even so much who it's going to be
in your starting line, it's just simply how good is
their good? Is it below average? Is it average? Is
it above average? And wear on that slide scale does
it get He was interesting the other day talking about
those receivers and how good they've been, and we mentioned
(15:06):
this on here a couple of times ago about this
offense may have to take a different look based on
what he feels they do well. Right, if they have
an offensive line that's better pass blocking than run blocking,
or if the quick pass game feels like something he
can have more success with with those slot guys, then
you might throw it a little bit more. And he
came out and said that said, we're installing more pass
plays than I thought we might at this point. So
(15:29):
that's also part of the intriguing part of how this
is going to look running passing, and well, we may
have to do some over unders on the passing in
the next episode.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
He's the ultimate. I don't care how we get it
done right. So he's the guy again. I keep bringing
us up. He's a guy Glenville that threw it so much.
He had the all time leading receiver in the history
of college football? Is it? West Virginia ran at seventy
percent of the times, had the all time leading rusher
from a quarterback posers, It doesn't matter to him, just like,
show what we can do and then we're just going
to We're going to do it and do it and
do it and do it.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
He's and he's talked about that's our hob. He's talked
about that in these press conferences that he just says
he's going through and weeding out some plays. And if
that means there forty plays have to go away because
you can't execute him, well, then so be it. If
he has ten that he can execute, then let's run
the ten. And as he used his words, he said, next,
what's next? What's the next play?
Speaker 3 (16:13):
We'll run The addendum to that, I think, and this
gets into some stats I'd like to talk about here
later on, is that when he's had success, he has
had a quarterback that is an efficient and effective runner
almost almost to a tee. There's only I could only
find one exception in his career. I'm not talking about Glenville,
(16:36):
but one exception in his career.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Because I was going to come at you with scotti otis.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
No, I'm not post post Glenville, starting with West Virginia
on yes, yes, only because at Clemson two lane he
had guys that could throw it and obviously Glennviley could
throw it so in his offensive coordinator in Glenville days.
But you're saying from West Virginia.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
Jawn King, whatdy, Danzler, Rashid Marshall, Pat White, Denard Robinson,
Khalil Ta right. And then last year he had the
dude Tyler Tyler huff huff.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Yeah, he had dudes. I have some stats for that.
You just used all my stats. But that's okay.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Now go ahead give it to give it a rick.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
No, no, just I'll do it later.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Let's do that.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Let's get the Brad's thing.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
We'll keep going to finish your thought. Okay, Well, like.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
When he was at West Virginia two thousand and five,
two thousand and six, two thousand and seven. Pat White
rushed for thirty five hundred yards over three seasons and
thirty nine touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Okay had a running quarterback.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
His best season in three seasons at Michigan was twenty ten,
seven and six. Denard Robinson rushed for seventeen hundred yards
and fourteen touchdowns twenty seventeen, one of his better seasons,
not his best. One of his better seasons at Arizona,
klill Tate rushed for fourteen hundred yards and twelve touchdowns
Jack State twenty twenty three. They were nine and four.
He had two quarterbacks, Zion Web and Logan Smothers. They
(17:47):
rushed for collectively for one thousand yards and like fifteen
touchdowns fourteen I think, but go ahead, well yeah, fourteen,
I'm sorry, thank you. And then twenty twenty diet end
on my stature. That's how I knew that without looking
on my Okay, and then Tyler Huff was a running quarterback.
Why you're rushed for thirteen hundred yards. The one exception
was that stood out to me was when Anu Solomon
(18:08):
was at Arizona, who was a passing guy had great
success passing passed for thirty eight hundred yards and when
they went ten and four and twenty fourteen only ran
for two ninety one. But he was a very effective pastor.
So again this is just thumbnail stuff, but generally speaking,
when Rich Rodriguez has had success, it's because he's had
(18:29):
a quarterback that ran for one thousand yards or more.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
Which really sets the table nicely for el senators going
to come back.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
An elite quarterback that has an elite skill has led
to success for a head coach. That's our premise.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Our premise is that if Rich Rodriguez is going to
have success at West Virginia, he's going to have a
quarterback that rushes for one thousand yards or more.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Thank you, happy you guys for the game time. Four
spreads on stats brought to us by the Conley CPA group.
They do provide value beyond the numbers. Complete service Public
accounting had this cold here now like three shows Oh
that goes away, not contagious anymore.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
As he coughs into them.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
I'll get to it. Conley CPA. One of the great
things they do is they outsource. They can outsource for
you you're accounting. So if you're a business owner, small business,
big business, whatever it might be, you can get together
with them and they can do your accounting for you
off premise. They also provide CFO services. Really good people.
We've got to know them well. Had a confab with
(19:41):
them this summer. In fact, they do a few things.
They do a few things for three guys before the game,
which is kind of neat and in all seriousness, it's
it's good working with those They're really good, truly good.
So if you're looking to make a change, you're looking
for whatever it might be, check that out, all right,
haven't play this and not a long while. I hope
(20:02):
it's not dusty, So I checked the number spread.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
They're the biggest thing is it came on.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Improvement from last episode.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You know, you're allowed to get you're allowed to get
better week to week.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Two spreads on staffs kindly, CPA, let's jump in over
under we got three of them.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Let's go all right, let's meander through this. And you're
right hot that that was a good lead into what
our first one is. Because you're right, and we've said this.
Everybody listening knows this. When Rich has a quarterback that
can run it. There's success that usually follows that number one.
But you also hit on something in there about the
year at Jack State, he had two guys that can
do it. So it's it's morphed a little bit. It
(20:41):
doesn't have to just be one guy at that position.
I think that's what's most applicable to this year for
West Virginia. But let's start here. We're gonna pick Nico first.
We're gonna go Nico markiel over under four and a
half rushing touchdowns in twenty twenty five, Nico marky Over
under four and a half rushing touchdowns in twenty twenty five.
(21:04):
And let me preface it by say, you guys know,
I love this episode every year. This might be my
favorite year because you talk about some variables that go
into this bad Boy. There are some variables. So let's
start with some numbers first to back this up. Nico
rushing touchdowns by year zero in twenty twenty two, one
in twenty twenty three, two in twenty twenty four. We're
(21:26):
setting the number at four and a half, so happy
A lot of questions come in about Nico, does he start,
how much does he play? How many snaps does he get?
How many carries does he get? Is he the only
guy getting carries? Are there three quarterbacks getting carries? Are
there four? Is there one? Right? So tons of variables
outside of just him. Here's some other numbers. In the
(21:46):
last twenty four seasons, a West Virginia quarterback has rushed
for four or more touchdowns in a season twelve times the.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Last twenty four seasons, last twenty.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Four seasons that began with Rich's first year here twenty
four four. I'm sorry, twelve times in twenty four seasons,
a quarterback has gone for four or more touchdowns. Skyler
did it twice, Rashid did it three times, Garrett did
it three times, and Pat White did it four. A
quarterback rushing for four or more touchdowns in a season
(22:18):
happened in six of Rich's seven years at WVUE. I
think that's an important one that kind of tucked that.
If you're looking at these numbers and rating them on
what numbers may have some carryover.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Say that one again, six.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Of Rich's seven years at WVU. The first time a
quarterback went for four or more rushing touchdowns. The one
season it didn't happen was year one Brad Lewis Rashid
had three fell just short at but Rashid almost certainly
would have gone over that at barring injury. Yeah right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (22:52):
So, by the way, I'm gonna compliment you on putting
it at four and a half. I thought you were
gonna come. I figured that question out. I knew that
was coming, but I figured go five and a half,
which would have made it really hard.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
I think you think four and a half's easy, No,
I think no.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I think four and a half is more challenging than half.
Five and a half you go under.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Well, Kertchival gave us five and a half on the
last episode, and I thought that might be a good
number that I got. I thought, well, let's let's tick
it down a little.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Four and a half is a really well placed number,
thank you.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
So Rich's first year at West Virginia there were sixteen
total rushing touchdowns. Quarterbacks had four of those, so twenty
five percent. But I also think we all agree this
offense has matured and evolved a lot since that first
year twenty four seasons ago. Jack State quarterbacks in the
last three seasons averaged fifteen point three rushing touchdowns per year.
(23:43):
The entire quarterback room averaged fifteen touchdowns rushing per.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
Year quarterbacks and each of his three years averaged fifteen.
There were scoring one touch There was going over a
touchdown per game at.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Forty six total rushing touchdowns from.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
The quarterback hotly cow. So your basic trying to bait
us into saying over on this.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
He loves running that cornerback down by a goal line.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
So here's where I'm going on my four and a
half t don't need anything else. No, I'm good.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
You did a really good That's both of the numbers.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
I got what.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
He's had enough context for the excellent context.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Now, I mean there's probably people now that we've done
this enough years that are going to take this down
and they were going to really make us remember what
we said. So I'm going to go for Nico. I'm
going to go over and I won't be surprised if
he gets seventy five percent of those touchdowns. What of
(24:40):
the quarterback touchdown of the quarterback I think he'll score well,
I think six, I'll go sixty, sixty to seventy percent
of his touchdowns will come in the month of September
running it. And then I think it'll get harder as
a season goes on. I'm going over. I see him
going in like two or three. Robert Morris, Ohio Universe.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
So you think a lot of I think what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
He builds a bunch of equity and then so much like.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
If you're handicapping the wind total for the Mountaineers and
you look like to see him start three and oh
you lock up some wins early. You think Nico locks
up some early rushing touchdowns. Okay, yeah I do.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
I'm going over on Nico.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Hoppy.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
I'm going over, and I would go over at five
and a half. I would go over at five and
a half because Rich likes to run the quarterback. Rich
will run the quarterback. You get down inside the five,
you got a guy who's six two two thirty five.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
His name is not CJ. Donelson.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Give him the ball, let him run in the end zone,
give him some options. Hey, the pass isn't there running
the end zone. I would go over four and a half.
I would go over five and a half.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
I think Nico's Nico. Like, Nico's a ruder too, Like
I see him, you know what I mean, Like he
will get in there and he'll stick his face in
there and he will like he'll drill just he's a
he's a plug. Bang, I'm coming in baby, one way
or the other.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
You know, you both make great points because you have
a bigger quarterback there that could be down near the goal. Ande. Now,
Nico's probably not going to rip off a bunch of
forty seven years runs like Patent zigzag all over the place.
But you get him down inside the five or six,
and you're right. You know, Rich likes to go there.
You don't have a big bruiser like Owen Schmidt right
now to run it in from the full back position.
You do have a superstar running back, though, you do
(26:14):
have a superstar running back back there in j quite.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, so going we're both going over on that one.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, you read. I hate it when we all agree.
And you also, as you know, if you play a
lot over unders, you really should side with more unders.
You really should go under more than you go over. Hop. Okay,
four and a half scenes pretty attainable. Yes, like getting
him to five rushing touchdowns based on what I just
gave you, on the context of Rich's history and how
(26:42):
much he likes to run it. The variable there is
how many snaps does Nico get? If Nico was the
straight out, unquestioned starter and was getting ninety percent of
the snaps or all the snaps barring an injury, I
would have had that number much higher. Right, that's still
a little bit of the variable. I hate to do this,
I will. I'll go over though. Yeah, I think I
(27:04):
think that number, even if that quarterback snap position is
split in some form, I think he can still get
to that night. Would you go under if it was
five and a half? No, I might. I might still
be there for the same reason because we've just seen
it in Rich's recent history at jack State with two
different quarterbacks that had seven rushing touchdowns in the season. Right,
(27:25):
that to me kind of his history the first time
here with quarterbacks getting that number pretty easily, and then
recent history with two quarterbacks getting over that number at
jack State tell me that number may be likely for
two quarterbacks in this system. Like that would be another
over under. Will will how many quarterbacks will get more
(27:45):
than four touchdowns this season? Number set at one and
a half? Right, I might take over on that, Yeah,
I would.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I think some of these rushing touchdowns from the quarterback
position will also make you giggle.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
What do you mean?
Speaker 1 (27:58):
What I mean by that is like Rich does big
play stuff right, and invariably once they make a big play,
they go faster. So it'll be one of those deals
where someone right gets kick out the one and before
you like the exactly the other team, the other team's defense.
I scanled around it and it's like snap.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Poom quicks in touchdown, we go like Nico has one carry,
one yard, one touchdown. Correct, Yeah, and then you're gone.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Okay, I want to see a whole lot of these
come being longer than five, like three four yards, two yards,
three yards. He pops it in there. I see that.
Speaker 2 (28:29):
I like that one. Okay's good. I don't like us
all agreeing, but I but I like that one. Let
me say comfortable. I'm comfortable in that one. Going over
I like like the over there.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
If you're a listener, here's an opportunity for you to
walk into the stadium with Nico and the Mountaineers. Gomart
is teaming up with Double EV to give away the
ultimate Mountaineer experience. You can walk with them the Man
Trip when they come into the stadium. You can also
snag VIP tickets plus go Mart and WVU gear, so
it's a it's a bonanza. How do you do that?
Go to a Gomart, scan the QR code which is
(29:00):
located in the store, take your filling out and get
the QR code and then you just fill in all
the details and then you're registered. And then Gomart will
select for each home game who can walk with the
Mountaineers and get all the other stuff.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
It's a really good deals. What do you do to
get registered? You'll get in the store and scan the
QR code. Yeah, yeah, it's easy from there, right, we
do that. That'd be fun.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
By the way, got gas there Gomart the other day.
You know what I kind of like it here in Morgantown. Yeah, yeah,
what I kind of like on the rewards thing.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Postal Plaza or the mile round mild Ground.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
I just like spinning around the I just like going
around the roundabout sometimes I just ten twelve times just
spinning around. Anyway.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
You have the right away the entire time.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Absolutely. So what I like is when your receipt comes
out after you get the gas, it tells you, like
what you qualify for for all your rewards points.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I should did that. I usually declined the receiver.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Oh no, get the receit because it gives you a
loong like you get a coffee. You can get it.
You know.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
It says it on your app though too.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Yeah, you get seven pound reciat cut whatever you need.
So go to go Mark, get the app do that thing.
All right, what's number two?
Speaker 2 (29:53):
Let's let's save the other rushing one for the end.
So we'll go rushing, then we'll go defense. We'll come
back to a rushing number. Let's go defense defense. Now,
this is a little niche in the weeds here and
won't be as easier as fun to track as Niko's
touchdowns or Jehem's rushing yards that we're getting to. But
let's go this. Read Kariko total tackles on the.
Speaker 3 (30:16):
Season, assist in total assistance.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
Total assist and solo total tackles. Hold on, I'm making
a number.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Adjustment on the fly. Okay, why are you changing it just.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Because I want to just be difficult? Read Karako total
tackles on the season over under eighty four and a half.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Okay, there's a lot of tacks eighty four and.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
A half tackles. Again, you're also just playing time, number
of snaps played and that's part of what plays into
this one. So some numbers. Last year for Reid, he
had fifty four total tackles, So this is a jump
of thirty tackles. Fifty four total tackles. He played two
hundred and seventy nine defensive snaps, or two eighty two
if you look at another source. So these defensive snaps
(30:56):
kind of get wonky, but roughly two hundred and eighty snaps.
Here's what Here's what jumped out to me though. I
found this number last year Reid average point one nine
tackles per snap, zero point one nine tackles per snap.
But here's what jumped out about that that number is
slightly higher than Texas texts. Jacob Rodriguez, who's an All American,
(31:21):
is the preseason Big twelve defensive player of the year.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
You got this is interesting? Good job by you.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Hold on get more a little bit more, so give
you more context here. If he averages the same number
of tackles per snap, he'll need to get at least
four hundred and fifty snaps played. So again, how what's
that linebacker rotation look like? What does the injury situation
look like? How long is he on the field.
Speaker 1 (31:50):
Here's another big piece. How many snaps will the defense see?
The defense was really bad last year, it saw a
ton more snaps in all like leihood, then it we'll
see this year less opportunities.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
So to that, last season, West Virginia had ten players
played at least four hundred and fifty snaps. Ten ten players,
ten defensive players. Two of them are linebackers Trotter and Lathan.
Last season at OU, where Zach Alley was a defensive coordinator,
the Sooners had seven players that played four hundred and
(32:25):
fifty snaps. Two were linebackers there as well. So Karrico
is probably going to need to double his snaps, maybe
not double one and a half times as snaps to
get to this number. Read Karaco over or under eighty
four and a half total tackles. I'll go sure, I'm
(32:45):
going to go over and I'll tell you why. And
I looked at bred I think your stature better than mine,
but I looked at different steads. No.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
In twenty twenty two, the leading tackler was Lee Pogmom
ninety two. In twenty twenty three, it was a pug
Bug in ninety seven. Last year was Anthony Wilson one
oh two, followed by Josiah Trotter at ninety two. Somebody
has to be the leading tackler. Now, it can be
if you play more people, then maybe those numbers won't
be as high as you alluded to. But and as
(33:16):
you said, read Karako had fifty four. So I took
Wilson's numbers, Pogba's numbers through in Trotterer for the heck
of it, I came out with ninety five point seventy five,
which is high.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
But I'm going over.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Somebody's got to be the leading tackler, and the leading
tackler usually has over the last couple of years at
least ninety so I'm going over.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
Okay, good, good logic there. It's interesting because I have
a bonus category here. Oh, okay, Kariko will lead West
Virginia in total tackles, Yes or no? I gotta go yes,
since I went, since I went with the over number
under and know okay, So double bonus then goes to you.
If Kariko doesn't lead in tackles, who does you want
to go with Fred Perry? You want to go Chase Wilson.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Chase Wilson and Fred Perry.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Yeah, I think that you said under.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Yeah, I'm going under on both. I think Rie Karraco
really is an exceptional football player. I'm thrilled that he's
on this and that he's on this team. He makes
plays all the time, He's always around the ball. Really
like him a ton. I just think you know that
they'll see less snaps overall in all likelihood than they
did a year ago. And I think it'll be close,
(34:23):
but I'm gonna go under. Going to go under. Okay,
just as a FYI, Zach Alley last season defended sixty
four plays per game at Oklahoma and twenty three at
jack State. When he was the DC, they defended seventy
three per game.
Speaker 2 (34:45):
That's still pretty average number of plays.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
It is it is so to me.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
The thing that jumped out there was West Virginia having
two linebackers that went over this last year and Zach
Alley's defense having two linebackers that went over this number. Right,
that's where your tackles likely. I'm from the fact that
Anthony Wilson led Westerding last year. It's part of the problem,
part of why they struggle. Actual so a Chase Wilson's
a potential candidate reads a potential candid game, and there's
(35:11):
gonna be linebackers that have to make tackles here, right.
I don't like going over on these things.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
And Ben Cutter is gonna wrap a few people down,
and Cutters going.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
To get a few mm hmm. I'm gonna I'm gonna
go under because that's a that's a big jump for
Reid in terms of total number of tackles. And I'm
playing into part of why the unders should be more
popular and these is this is a this is a
tough sport to get through the season unscathed. Yes, and
(35:41):
that number is a pretty big jump that if there's
a game or two where Reed is dinged, it might
be hard to get to that. I'm gonna play the
percentages here a little bit. I think Reid needs to
have a good season for this defense. I think he will.
I'm gonna go slightly under on this. And number was
eighty maybe four and a half, four and a half, okay,
(36:03):
stays healthy, probably gets there, Okay, I'm gonna go two
hunderds in and over, two hundreds in and over. Okay,
I think we can remember this by these No, we won't, Okay.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Oh, I don't have no idea, No, we won't, right, okay,
ready for not we'll like by the time the November comes,
we'll forget. We opened with Robert Morris.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
Yeah, I won't have any idea what the questions were
here in a couple of weeks. All right, you want
to go ahead and finish up? Yeah? Number three sure,
number three over under Jaheim Rock, Jaheim White over under
twelve hundred rushing yards this season one thousand, two hundred
(36:41):
rushing yards Jahim over or under. You're not gonna do
some math contacts. Hold on, don't do your math yet
until you get the numbers. Okay, all right? Twenty twenty
three eight hundred and seventy one rushing yards for freshman
Jahem a monster eight yards per carry, seventy yards per game.
Twenty twenty four eight hundred and forty five rushing yards
(37:03):
five point seven yards per carry, which is pretty wild. Guys,
in a year where it was he so burst on
the scene in twenty twenty three, last year didn't feel
that same burst because of course the offense wasn't his
dynamic right, but still almost six yards of carry for
Jaheem surprised me a little bit. If you if you
weren't really looking at that. Just ten times in the
(37:25):
last twenty four seasons has West Virginia had a leading
rusher with less than a thousand yards. So, going back
to what you tried to do right there with Karaco
about somebody's got to make the tackles right. So West
Virginia way more often than not. Fourteen out of twenty
four seasons has had a thousand yard rusher. Eight times
(37:49):
in the last twenty four seasons, has West Virginia had
a rusher go over twelve hundred yards in five of
seven seasons under Ritch. The first WVU had a rusher
player that rushed for over twelve hundred yards. One of
those misses was in two thousand and five and Steve
(38:10):
was only seventy two yards shy of hitting that number.
So rich the first time had those numbers. Year one,
Avon right, with not a lot of other weapons.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
That's what I was going to ask you, what did
he finish with?
Speaker 2 (38:23):
I was just not a lot of weapons for our guy, Avon?
He went for one two and ninety eight as a workhorse.
Did he really nearly thirteen hundred yards rushing with not
a prolific running quarterback? So that and that's kind of
is that maybe more similar to what you see this year.
(38:44):
A pretty defined one guy backfield right now and no
running quarterback that is probably going to mass a thousand yards.
Speaker 1 (38:55):
You're doing a heck of a job trying to beat us.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
For me, is the average in Riches seven seasons here
the first time one three hundred and seventy yards for
your leading rusher. Again skewed because you had a couple
of the all time greats.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
And throw in here you have one WVU career start
on the offensive line that was it's land and living
inging name last year against UCF. That's the only Now
there's guys that will be on the line that have
started football games right in other places, but like as
far as your West Virginia starts, so that throws a
(39:32):
whole another piece into it. This is a this is
an incredibly challenging question.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
I thought this was the most challenging of all of them.
I think. Let me give you a couple more real
quick Jack State twenty twenty four. Hoppy alluded to this
a little bit. You had two players that went for
more than this number over this number. Running back Trey
Stewart went for sixteen sixty two. Tyler Huff, the aforementioned
Tyler Huff went for fourteen to fifty two on the ground.
Some big numbers there. Twenty twenty three, no single play
(40:00):
went for one thousand, but you had a running back
go for nearly nine hundred and quarterback Zion Web went
for seven to fifty four. That season, Rich had some
variety in depth. He had five players that had three
hundred and fifty yards or more rushing. That was literally
a plug and play there. Twenty twenty two, he also
had no single player that went for one thousand, and
(40:21):
war Lewis a running back win for eight forty six.
Quarterback Zion Web went for six seventy six, and he
had four players that went for four to fifty or more.
So his first two years at jack State he had
a little more depth. It was more guys, it was
spread hit. Last year he had two superstars he that
he rode. If Jaheim averages five yards per carry, he
(40:42):
gets home in two hundred and forty carries. So again,
your variables here are. Rich has talked a lot about
the lack of running back depth right now, but you
know you've got Jehem White and he's had two really
solid seasons injury plays back, in workload plays in He's
going to get a workload if he stays healthy, he's
going to get there. And what Rich's system has showed
(41:05):
us because I think this is and this isn't handicapping,
This is just guessing because the main variable here is
the injury part of this. When Rich has had a
healthy back and a clear number one running back, this
number goes, it goes over. Those are your variables. Lack
of depth at running back, which you may be sitting at.
(41:26):
You may be staring at that right now. Hop yes,
without a clearly defined rushing quarterback that may get over
one thousand and a stud running back. I mean the
ingredients are there if health comes along with this, I
think jeems sales. So you're trying to handicap getting a
bunch of carries? Can Jaheim hold up behind an offensive
(41:47):
line that's a little inexperience over or under twelve hundred
yards rushing?
Speaker 3 (41:51):
I'm going under for three reasons. One is that he
has not come close to twelve hundred in his previous seasons.
Second of all, if to get to twelve hundred, he
would have to increase his output from last year by
forty percent.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
That's a lot. That's a lot.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
Third is that you mentioned, which is a very bold
that you have to account for, but you don't know
what it's going to be. In that is, if he's
going to carry the ball two and fifty times, it
is hard to go a season and not get dinged
up and say, well, White can't go this week because
he's dinged up. So for those reasons injury possibility, it'd
have to be a forty percent increase. He's not come
close to that number before. I'm going under now.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
In Jahime's first two years, he had a super talented,
very capable running quarterback in Garrett Green. He also split
carries with another big running back in CJ. Donaldson. There
was a lot more people carrying the ball than are
likely to this year.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
And three emerging NFL offensive linemen. Why the Collum, Zach Frasier, Dougnesk.
Speaker 3 (42:52):
Who knows about the offensive line? You just don't know.
I think so.
Speaker 2 (42:55):
Splitting the carries the last two seasons because it was
the same thing last year, right, even though Garrett was
a lot of the season you had, you had a
really a three headed rushing attack. You probably don't have
that right now as it stands. Maybe one develops, but
as you sit here today when you're making this call,
you don't have that. You have one returning guy that
has done it at this level and has done it
(43:16):
extremely well. Hmmm. I'm not a suede. No, I'm under.
Speaker 3 (43:20):
I'm trying to I'd love, I'd love for it to be,
but I'm under.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
I'm trying to figure out.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
I don't. I don't. You don't have to qualify that,
that's okay.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
I'm trying to figure out where you're trying to lead us.
Probably a good direction because I jumped, Like my initial perception,
my initial gut reaction was go under.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Mm hm again, how most of these season long things,
if you're playing the odds, you probably should go under
because of what I mean. The the injury is the
biggest thing here. But man, when if there's no injury
and the other variables line up, Rich's numbers at multiple
places tell you that a back hits this number.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
Having watched Jaheim play and having much other running backs
who have had success under Rich, right, you can take Jahem,
he can be Avon Kober right, he can be Quincy
Wilson right.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
You know what, it's not physically.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
I mean my point is like he's got that it
to him. Okay, he's got that it to him. You
don't look at him and go like, well, there's no
way he'll be able to So I started with a no.
Then you're the fact that there isn't a whole ton
of other guys right now at that running back position
makes me kind of go, well, he's going to get
(44:32):
a ton of carries. Then the the the all time
intangible is does he get hurt? Right? Then? How many
yards are you going to get out of your quarterback rushing?
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
And if you're going to have offensive success, you're going
to have to have a You're going to have to
have a bell cow. And so we know rich when
he finds a bell cow, he rings a hell out
of that bell. And so despite my intuition to say
under you got to have an attraction, Hoppy and I'm
(45:07):
going to say that Jaheim will become the attraction and
I'm going to go over.
Speaker 2 (45:17):
Okay mm hmm. Brad, I am super conflicted here join
the club because I want to go over because the
only thing holding me back is injury. But as I've
said many times. Now, that's also the one reason why
you really should probably play unders more often. Right, But
(45:41):
he fits this profile like Tony, you just said that, right,
That's exactly what I keep coming back to. Avon was
so damn durable twelve ninety eight and seventeen ten.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
You know it's also creators under itch. No, it's also
crazy we're saying this with a totally rebuilt offensive line
that you have zero idea. Will they be below average,
will they be average? Will they be above average? You
got no clue what I mean.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
We keep referencing Avon was an exception in skill and endurability.
We don't see that that much anymore of somebody who's
that durable for that long.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
You're right, Quincey did it, Slayton did it, Pat did it,
Noel did it twice, Okay, Wendell Smallwood did it. Crawford
came right up to it. Jahem has shown you a
ton in the last two years. And Jaheem has also
(46:37):
shown you different than what Avon had to do when
it was much more of a grinded out five six,
had to get eight, then got eleven, then had to
get six more and than seven just felt like I
felt like Avon was a lot of Emmett Smith, right,
just had to keep going, keep going, keep going, and
just could stack those carries. Jehem's gonna bust a couple
big ones, isn't he.
Speaker 1 (46:56):
That's kind of what I'm thinking.
Speaker 2 (46:57):
He's gonna rip off. He maybe doesn't have to get
I said, he has to get to two hundred and
fifty carries. If he averages five yards of carry, that'd
be a pretty significant drop for what he averaged the
last couple of seasons. But counterpoint three NFL minimum three,
probably four. That first year offensive lineman maybe ends up
with five if Remac ends up there last year, multiple
(47:19):
potential NFL offensive lineman, and you just don't know that
this year. Maybe some of these guys end up there.
You don't know that right now. But he doesn't have
to average five. He can average if he averages six again.
What if he everages six and a half, What if
her rips off some more again?
Speaker 1 (47:35):
On my pick, he got to have a really good
first two weeks. My man, My man needs to go
like about one, six, three and seventy five yards after
the first two games. Something in that neighbor.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
One hundred yards a game, and that's an average.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah, Brad, you're going over.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
I shouldn't. I shouldn't. I should not. Oh it's August.
You can go over.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
Man, you're over.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
Yeah. That's probably fanboy part coming out there too, because
you writ it's easy. The chat. The the selfish part
of this is you want to root for overs, right,
if you want to be right, you want to root
for overs. The play is probably under, but I'm not
doing I'm going over so great, So I say I
come on here and lead with go a lot of unders.
I went to two weeks.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
The thing is if you don't follow rich and you
just think, oh, you know, a hurry up offense. Uh,
spread it out, throw it all over the place. No,
they run the ball. They run the a lot more
than they passed the ball, So more bred to your point,
more opportunities probably.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
We'll say, jumping Jack. We'll write these down and then
we'll update three quarters of the way through the season,
maybe the three cords the way. When we start in November,
we'll say, Okay, here's where we are, here's what needs
to still happen.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
Now, what have we got wins and losses? Bread, No,
that's our three Okay, that's our three categories.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
But you're going to come back next Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (48:54):
I think these are fun. Yeah, if you guys like them,
YEA love them.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
We've got the President in here and rent on Monday.
So next Thursday when we're we're going to go to
two a week now here on in through April. Hey,
you want to hear something neat our good friend Jen.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
Dill's attorney at Lull Correct.
Speaker 1 (49:11):
Won't take no for an answer. They have been The
law firm has been ranked by inc Business Media of
the sixty eighth fastest growing legal firm in the United States,
and it has been ranked the number one fastest growing business.
You're listening, fastest growing business in the state of West Virginia.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
How about that? Congratulations?
Speaker 1 (49:31):
How about that that just came out Jendale's Attorneys at Law.
Congratulations of those guys ranked the number one fastest growing
business in West Virginia. As we've told you in the past,
they serve clients in all fifty of our states, and
they specialize when it comes to veterans benefits and when
it comes to Social Security disability issues as well. If
(49:52):
you are someone that you know needs help in those areas,
they are there they will become your guide and bring
you through the process. And it doesn't cost you a
single penny unless they collect for you. So congratulations on
the honor. And if it's veterans benefits and Social Security
(50:12):
disability benefits, contact Jan Dill's attorneys at law started right
here in West Virginia and doing business and have business
in all fifty states.
Speaker 3 (50:21):
Cannot throw this out, So Brad, again, I don't want
to discourage the over I just looked at something here.
So how many D one teams are there?
Speaker 2 (50:32):
One hundred and the thirtieth under thirty one thirty two something?
Speaker 3 (50:36):
So last season there were only twenty three rushers who
had more than.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Twelve undred yards? How many twenty three?
Speaker 3 (50:46):
So he'd be in pretty elite company if you can
do that, not quite ten percent.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
I think he's pretty elite though.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yeah, see that. I mean that's the thing. I think
you're dealing with an elite back here.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
Okay, he's got skidaddle. He can run away from people,
he can run.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
Away from the pop bulkings, head down, run inside too
if you need so. And again I think not to rehash,
but I just think you have a dynamic elite guy
potentially I think you've got an offense that that lends
itself to this, and past history has shown if healthy
Rich has a guy that does this more times than not, h.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
You know, Rich is going to get him the ball.
I'm just hoping that it isn't a whole lot of
touches via the swing pass, because basically that's almost like
an extended run. So like if they feel okay, let's
just stick in his hands and our guy will be
catching the ball two yards behind the line of scrimmage
and then just ripping up field and we're going, well,
(51:42):
that's that's actually that's a toss. That's just a sweep.
He's just running a swep. Can we get those yards? Probably?
Not right? Maybe added probably not no seriousness. A good
over under would also be his with his catches, you know,
compare where his catches.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
I know, but we always we do running back catch
every year and it's never I think it is that's under.
Whenever you want to make the number under. That's one
of the great lies. One, that's one of the great
lies that and tight ends a lot of running backs.
There may be playing some running back in slot this
year trying to get the ball in their hands if
we can't. To Rich's credit, has not said that he's
gone the other way. Rich had said, they have so
(52:19):
many slots, they've been sitting some of the slots back
at the running back position. That's what we should have
done carries for slot receivers.
Speaker 1 (52:25):
Yesterday in media, tight ends, Coach Ryan said Rich busted
him a little bit in the team meeting because the
sign on the door said tight ends running or tight
ends full backs on their on their meeting room door,
and Rich said, doing like coach, he goes, do I
miss something here? We have fullbacks. I'd probably go out
(52:47):
there with Sharpie.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Nice Wonder the New Titan. He also had a funny one, though,
he said in saying that though the first touchdown scored
in a bowl game for Jacksonville State's program came from
a guy lined up as the full back position in
an eye stuck it eye formation. You know, we love that.
We love the eye formation.
Speaker 1 (53:05):
Handed to the touchdown, I love the eye I love
the ie formation.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
School All right, So there you go. So there's over under.
I assume we'll get some text from people playing along
with us that we'll get into next.
Speaker 1 (53:16):
Week, and textual healings coming up. Lou Wendell Marine Sales
is the largest single pontoon boat dealer in the state
of West Virginia. They've been doing it not for ten
twenty thirty, they've been doing it for forty years. They
are family owned for four decades, located in Saint Albans,
and they are the premier pontoon boat dealer in the States,
sell more than anybody else. They sell the avalon pontoon
(53:37):
boats and they're made right here in the United States,
in the state of Michigan. So whether it's a pontoon,
whether it's those neat G three John boats that they
have which are super super cool, you can check them
out online at lou Wendell Marine Sales dot com. And
Senator was out on Sunday, in fact, on the on
the lake. Did you guys pulled the tube?
Speaker 2 (53:58):
I was just gonna say, no, tube crashed out. Don't
have the two. That's why I was looking for one
other than chucks that he offered that hop be offered up.
I do think every boat I saw out there was
a lu Wendel boat, though not surprised. Perfect day on
the lake wasn't perfect, I mean perfect, very little wind
seas weren't, weren't.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
Choppy, sea.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
Was tied, had not come in yet.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Very relaxing day, sun perfect, hot enough that it made
you want to get in and cool off, but not
so hot that you couldn't just sit on the on
the boat and enjoy. No, he's a wonderful data. It
was good signal the end of summer coming.
Speaker 1 (54:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Fall boating though underrated. Absolutely, Fall is boating underrated.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
Like I'm excited right now. I'm not chasing summer away,
but I there's some September days that are absolutely just
you just want to stand and just go like this
is perfect. Temperature zero, temperature zero, temper zero, Like you
can't feel the temperature, like there's no humidity. It's not hot,
it's not cold, it's temperature zero.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
It's just like, I have trouble. That is one of
your all time great phrases, temperatures here.
Speaker 3 (55:05):
And this may surprise you. I have, you know, racked
by anxiety. I have a little trouble enjoying fall.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Same. I know what you're gonna say, because you know
what's coming after it.
Speaker 3 (55:14):
Not only that, but there's about two weeks okay where
the full age is perfect. So I'm trying to take
it in, going, this isn't going to last. I have
to I have to get to a place where I
can enjoy it because it's going to be gone here
in like nine days.
Speaker 1 (55:27):
I didn't realize that, bums you guys out.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
Oh yeah, I should love fall Football's back. Basketball is
right around the corner, the temperature settling in nicely. It falls.
Should be way higher on my like list than what
it is. I also get the anxiety I can't totally
relax because I know winners right behind it.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
It doesn't bother me at all because of basketball.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Oh basketball is I love basketball.
Speaker 1 (55:51):
Basketball is my absolute elixir, Like I don't if I
didn't have basketball, Like if Nay Smith didn't invite invent
basketballbably would have to be like hospitalized in the winter.
But basketball is like this, It just it's it's my
lifeblood because it takes you through the ugliness right and
(56:13):
really here doesn't get bad till January. December's fine something,
January February mar like that. When that March comes and
it's still like it's still crappy, you going like enough
is enough. So March kits me through that and then
then the flowers start growing, you go at the lou
window and you start the whole season over again.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
I'm looking forward to spring. I'm working on it. Yeah yeah,
I'm already bummed out. Like it's not light at nine
o'clock anymore. Snow wins? Is it? March days are getting shorter.
If we just didn't have to deal with the snow,
that's really my only thing, and quite frankly, only snow
on the roads. If it could just find a way
to snow and stay off the roads, then then winter
(56:51):
wouldn't bother me as much. That's really my issue. If
I niche it down, that's my problem.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
I don't disagree with.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
I can handle the cold. I can handle everything. That fine,
You're right, we're inside most time we're doing games. It's great.
But having to affect my ride and calculate for bad roads,
worry about bad roads all that.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
I can handle snow and even the roads. It's it's gray,
oh yeah, I mean if it snows, if it snows
it's eight inches.
Speaker 2 (57:16):
But it's a clear day. I'm cool. But man, it's
that great. It's that gray weather that we took a
turn August thirteen, talking about gray weather. Yeah, just enjoy
get it back on track. All right, let's go, three guys.
I've been telling you about these new sauces, Yeah, from Tutors, Tuitors. Yeah,
we're ready.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
Remember I've been teasing those saying, hey, they're gonna get
new sauces for the upcoming, for the upcoming for out. Yeah, hey, Jake,
do you have that one graphic? I'm gonna tell you
what they are, because like the Tutors, the Tutors sauce,
the sauce. Do you heard of sous chefs they got,
they got. Look at the new sauces, folks, you are
you are looking live at the three new flavors of
(58:00):
Tutors barbecue sauces. Laying it off that in two ninety five,
it's honey Siracha in good power, three doubles on the
season along with two home runs. Honey Siacha, it's a
saucy pulled pork barbecue sandwich, available now at Tutors. Next
up on our new list, how about folks, some Carolina
(58:22):
gold there. Really, it says it all Carolina gold. Look
at the little driplets there off that sandwich for those
of you that are watching. But wait, there's more. How
about a little sweet terriaki sweet teraiaki. It's just a
it's a bowl. Teriaki just makes you want to go.
Can I have another? That's basically what it does. Or
(58:45):
you can go with their their traditional they use sweet
baby rays, that's their standard, but now they're gonna go
with honey saracha, Carolina gold, sweet teraakei and of course
the original made with the sweet baby rays.
Speaker 2 (58:58):
What would you get today?
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Get?
Speaker 2 (59:00):
I need to I'm starving Carolina gold or serrata me
Carolina gold one, serata two for me?
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Really, I start with Carolina gold. Yeah, I'll do that,
all right?
Speaker 2 (59:10):
You already all unison. We are very agreeable today. We're
all very agreeable, trying to get along.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
That'll change, that'll change.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
There's no and you had a snack before the show game.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Yeah you saw a snack, saw me sna But now
you're hungry again.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
It's time for your favorite something. It's time for my favorite,
it's time for everyone's favorite. It's time for textual healing.
Your opportunity to write into us, text into us. We'd
love to see her here from you third three oh
four four or four forty eighty three three oh four
four or four forty eighty three.
Speaker 2 (59:45):
That's a quick fix for you. I'll take you.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
I'll take you thirty seconds seat and I'll give you.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
A quick fix. That's interesting, but I think i'll hold Okay,
thank you. That's interesting. That's good.
Speaker 3 (59:54):
Oh yeah, well they're good enough, and they're a good
they're a good fix, fair enough.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
I know what you're saying. Relatively healthy.
Speaker 1 (59:59):
We receiving. Each of us received a box really well done,
like a nice blue box with the flying WV onnes say.
We had no idea what it was. I still don't. Okay,
yeah I did. I'm gonna read this letter to you. Hey,
put these on here so I can see it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Only mildly suspicious of boxes, that are right.
Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Russell writes in from Durham, North Carolina. I think there
was a college, their college down there in Durham. Yeah, Tony,
I'm a doubv you alm huge fan of three guys.
Before the game. As a thank you for being such
a great representative of my alma mater, I wanted to
send you guys signed copies of my Mountaineer mystery series
always a West Virginia connection, and the author is mister
(01:00:50):
Russell Johnson. Look at these books he wrote, he wrote
this one. It's called Moonshine. Messiah signed it too, Like
the Illegitimate, a child of justified and sons of anarchy.
The Moonshah Massah leaps off the page with a rarefied
air of gritty hillbilly realism. That's by Craig Johnson, an
(01:01:10):
author of the Walt Longmire series. The other one is
called The Mountain Mystic. It's a mountaineer mystery. Wes Brown,
author writes, Russell Johnson has packed more twists and turns
into the Mountaineer Mystic than you'll find in West Virginia
back roads. His character's Rome. And then this one, well,
(01:01:32):
he'd really nicely. I love the paper and I love
the I love the cover. It's really well done. This
is called Miners Miners Myth. The Miners Myth is a
high octane Appalachian noir noir where justice ain't always clean,
but sure as hell is satisfying, awesome, and he gave
us book.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
I'm in the back of these, I know, thank you.
This is this is great. I'm in on this.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
Ussell Johnson is an attorney who got so sick of
billable hours he started writing crime fiction.
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
Well guess what, he should join the Mike Florio fan club.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
There we did, Yeah, he did, started writing.
Speaker 1 (01:02:11):
Why does every attorney want to do something other than
practice law? Did you ever notice that except for except
for jan Dills, she's the only one that really wants
every lawyer we know always has got a side hustle.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
Russell won the West Virginia Writers Association's Pearls Buck Award,
as well as first place for book linked Fiction. For
more information, go to Russell W. Johnson dot com.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Thank you, Russell. I appreciate that. I'm interested to read
all these. Also, bookmarks underrated piece of the reading process. Hopy.
I read a lot on my phone too. Right so,
but when you have a book, not having a good
bookmark is a is a major source of frustration.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
Otherwise you're reaching for something. Put a sock in.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Something, put something in there. I don't want to fold
the page on that. Thank you, seriously, Thank you look
forward to it. Thank you dig into these.
Speaker 1 (01:02:59):
And I don't remember the context of our first textual healing,
but the guy right in and says you, okay there, Timmy, Yeah,
I'll get it over with maybe December. As a former
fat guy, I have to watch my chip consumption, especially
after a fried green tomato and bacon sandwich. However, my
kids and grandkids don't have the same issue. I think
(01:03:22):
he's referring to that bag we showed you holding in
Gomartse chips.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Which what were the Mothman ones and then the Pepperoni
roll ones.
Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
Uh huh, Coach Rod, you can do a lot of
stuff with ai coach Rod confirmed unconfirmed photo. There he
is in the garden pulling weeds. Remember he went on that.
He went on that riff about when he was, you know,
growing up. His dad put him in the garden Pollee
and there's Coach Rod work in the garden. Maybe maybe
he's right near the practice field there.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
I think he's pulling kind of grooming things up at
the push car shore.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
Absolutely. But in Lexington, Kentucky, guys, there is a Tutor's
Biscuit World in Lexington on New Circle Road. Did not
know they were in there, probably Shebway probably went there
a lot, right, so Oscar was here, Yeah, saw the
tutors down there University Avenue and then when he got
to Lexington probably saw that on no place like home
for him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:15):
Unconfirmed. Where's os these days?
Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Jazz Jazz Organization. Texter, I am way late on this.
Life's caught up with us doctor's appointments, going out of town, work, travel, baseball,
family vacation, finally getting back into a normal routine, and
listening to the episode with Dusty Rutledge maybe the funniest
guest on the show. This guy writes, not sure if
(01:04:39):
this is Tony or someone who runs the text line
for the show. That's me.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
Dusty was good.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Dusty was really really good.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Whenever way, the scones we ate on the show sold
out fast.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
Thirty two and thirty two, thirty two in two days
in Mountaineer roasting. They were gone, really grateful, grateful bread.
You know I told you about her. Yeah yeah, got
a micromay, sold thirty two of women in two days.
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
But you could never tell me how to get it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:10):
You don't start your crap, Garrett.
Speaker 3 (01:05:12):
And now they got Now they have west Over blocked off.
It's like East Berlin.
Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
I mean you can.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
There's a lot of infrastructure going on in west Over
right now. There's some there. They're into some pipes that
hadn't been seen for a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
And the fact that they have guys in these gray uniforms.
You know at checkpoint Charlie.
Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
There who deer goes into the house.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Just want to go to west Over?
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
I just want to go to west Over via going here?
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
What was?
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
What is the purpose off your physicis?
Speaker 2 (01:05:48):
Let me papers, please papers?
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
Why do you want to come to the triangle in
west Over? Get over there with the furniture Galleyon used
to be.
Speaker 2 (01:06:00):
Trying to get to Calisante' what's the hard thing? Have
you tried the intestance?
Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Go back where you came from. Hey, three guys, longtime listener.
I'm curious what stats are out there around how many
big plays per game Zach Alley's defenses have given up
historically with his aggressive nature. I'm excited to hear what
Brad Drum's up, excited to see the defense flying around.
So I took it upon myself.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Got up in bread zone.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
I'm absolutely lying. These are Jed Dreading's numbers.
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Come up with that. I do my own numbers. He
doesn't come up with his number.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Now, So this is from Jed Drenning, and he does
a great podcast and literally he has a sixty two
page pdf that he's that he compiles. He said, he
told me the other day. He said, see all this stuff.
I go, yeah. He goes, I do this while I'm
listening to you. Guys do basketball games in the winter.
He goes, that's what I do. I'm at home at night,
and I'd just put all these stats together. The He's
(01:07:02):
the savant. So I said, okay, good, I said, I
promise if I use any of your numbers, I'm going
to give you credit. So credit to the one and
only Jed Drenning. But so I've got some basic things.
So I've got Zach Alley at Oklahoma. Last year, Zach
Alley at Jacksonville State in twenty three he allowed he
(01:07:23):
allowed ten ten yard plus plays allowed at Oklahoma average
to be eleven per game, one hundred and thirty six
on the season. Just to give you an example, last
(01:07:44):
year West Virginia so one thirty six at Oklahoma, total
one eighty six at West Virginia. So scoring defense. I'll
give you an example, Zachlast year Oklahoma gave up twenty
two a game. Jack State gave up twenty one a game.
(01:08:05):
Last year West Virginia gave up thirty two a game.
So ten ten more, I'll give you some. I'll give
you some pressures. West Virginia pressured last year one hundred
and sixteen times Oklahoma one hundred and sixty six and
at jack State one pint eighty.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Who jack State had a good defense last year.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Yeah, tackles for a loss Zach Alley last year seven
point four at Oklahoma, seven one at Jacksonville State, West
Virginia last year four point eight. Okay, So last year
here's the answer. Plays of twenty yards or more against
(01:08:55):
Oklahoma's defense last year fifty one, which put him ninth
in the Big twelve. Plays of thirty yards or more
twenty nine put them fifteenth in the SEC. Plays of
forty or more fifteen which put them fourteenth in the SEC.
But nationally, yeah, I mean this defense is going to
(01:09:18):
give up big plays. He's also going to have a
lot of TFLs. He's also going to have a lot
of sack It's going to be mayhem. So it's gonna
be one of those classic things. Can you can you
keep them outside of the goal line, but they're gonna
they're gonna get up some plays.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
The ten plus yards was a little more efficient. Oklahoma
was top five in that category. Opponent ten yards or more.
West Virginia last year one hundred and sixth in that
category ten yards or more.
Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
Red zone touchdown percentage. In other words, can you keep
them out of the end zone even if they're hitting
big plays. They were fourth best in the SEC last
year forty seven percent. They were sixth best in the
in the SEC last year in sacks, they were third
best in tackles for a loss. So there's your aggressive
there's your aggressive nature. And they were six the best
(01:10:04):
in takeaways in the SEC with twenty one thirty six
in the country.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
You know, I generally speaking, Tony, I like that aggressiveness
because at the college level, guys make the other team
screw it up, I mean, increase their chances of making
a mistake rather than sitting back there going Okay, they're pros,
we're pros, and somebody's.
Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
Gonna you know, and play it that way. So I
like the risk taking bread to you. I'll tell you
in December, there's there's not much worse than getting beat
when you're just getting carved up, right, So there is
an element of okay, make them do so just if
you're gonna get beat. We said that a bunch last year.
(01:10:47):
Ye right, how many times last year and it got
turned around a little bit. There were moments where that
happened where it's just like, all right, you're getting beat anyway,
get up on somebody and get after somebody and then
see where it goes. The one thing, though, guys, I
mean we can pair last year's Oklahoma stats to the
last year's West Virginia's all we want players? Yeah, I
mean it's players. I mean, okay, Zach's aggressive with it,
it's still players. He had some dudes on that Oklahoma
(01:11:09):
team last year. Who are the dudes this year for
West Virginia? Right? Because West Virginia's defenders last year just
didn't didn't play enough. I mean, some of your guys
that should have been your studs just simply weren't. We
talked all season about guys being in the wrong spot
coverage wise, especially on that second level, So that that's
part of it too. Scheme's great, and I have the
(01:11:29):
utmost confidence in Zach Alley. Who are the guys? Who
are your guys? And if Jamory Robinson's not available for you,
who's going to be your pass rusher? Somebody's got to
go get that quarter. And you know, if you want
to be aggressive. What's the best thing that will make
an aggressive defense work? Guys?
Speaker 3 (01:11:43):
And Zach howly said that when he was on this program,
I asked him, is how much what percent is scheme?
You guys would teaching me? What percent is scheme? And
one percent his players? He said, one hundred percent players.
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
Just is every good coach will say that. Every coach
that thinks it's them will be totally wrong. It's got
to be players. Texter wanted us to shout out the
female umpire that worked for the very first time of
the major leagues this past weekend behind the home plate
and from all accounts, I mean both managers, so that
(01:12:13):
she was fantastic, which is art. It was great, Right,
you got female officials now in NFL, in NBA and
now Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
Jen paw Oil, Powell, Yeah, paw Oil.
Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
It's awesome. Guess what's twenty twenty five? Right?
Speaker 2 (01:12:28):
Yeah? Really? Hey?
Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
Three has three guys officially reviewed these I'm about to
dive in. We got a picture here. Those are big cups.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Yeah. I have tried the great I've tried one of
these two. I can't remember which one, whichever one was,
I liked it. I don't know that I liked it
enough to go away from the regular traditionalist. Yeah, but
I'm okay with it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
This pretty good one. Here and again we always talk
about the impact or the expanse of this podcast. Brad
and Saberton rights in he wants a big hello, Hello,
I'm six thousand miles away. During the textual Healing Hiatus.
We went to Greece, representing West Virginia in Greece at
(01:13:14):
the Acropolis and the birthplace. There we go, birthplace of
modern Olympics. Here we go the Pena. I say, hup,
panathon Yatic Stadium, Pana Panathean, Panathonia, Mikonos.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
Paneon, Pantheon, Pantheon plus uh.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
I was going to say that, and my guy Mikonos,
take a look at these there's Brad, you know Brad, right, yeah, yeah,
you know Brad. And then there was a look at
those windmills, sixteenth century windmills lined up, started spinning, got
the whole whole country at Greece, game electricity.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
It's a good trip. That was fun.
Speaker 1 (01:13:55):
Six thousand miles away from Sabreton flying the flag. Three guys.
Listener Glenn from Glenn Ferris writes, thanks for the Dusty
Rutledge episode. He is a state and football program treasure,
a football and rich rod lifer who has some of
the best football stories ever. I'd love to see video
of Dusty working the mic at practice, as I've heard,
(01:14:16):
is a site to behold, and surely his microphone skills
were not up to par during the episode one. Oh yeah,
he struggled with his microphone.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
We got it. We have to do something about that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
We got to make the person wear headsets is what
we need to do. Yes, one last thing is not
a big deal. We can do then, thanks. One last
thing is Spreads and his boat bowie story from the
Summer Camp episode. It's called a boat fender, which protects
your boat went mooring to another. Perhaps the senator's neighbor,
Chuck has a few for Salepy.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
His neighbor, Chuck.
Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
Chuck's probably got some booies from Mchal's Navy. Probably. I
think Chuck buys all stuff at an Army Navy surplus store.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
Wef Chuck buys something thing. It's good, high quality and
well taken care of.
Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
I like that. Yes, Ted from Colorado here is how
I would define success this season. Seven wins this year
and go up from there? Is that too optimistic?
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Probably five and a half win total? Sevens in play?
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
How do you start? You go three to zero that
pit game? Here we go stating the obvious. How large
does that loom on so many different levels? Well, I
mean if you win that, you think certainly you can
get three out of the next nine.
Speaker 1 (01:15:33):
Right, But as Mountaineer men's soccer coach Dan Stratford would say, yeah,
it's a massive fixture on the schedule. That's what he
would say. It's a massive fixture. Texter. My name is
Josh and I'm the assistant principal at Myrtle Beach High School.
Good gig, I'm a That is a good gig. I'm
(01:15:54):
a first time Texter, longtime listener. I'm texting and to
share my thoughts on the new president Mikes. As someone
who has had the privilege of knowing Mike, I've seen
firsthand as character, leadership, and commitment. He is genuine, has grit,
and is the epitome of efforting. He's the perfect fit
for our great state and university. Well done, WVU. I
can't wait to see what the future holds in store
(01:16:15):
for us and hop great job on your biking adventure.
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Talk about grit good point.
Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
It was gritty gritty, gritty, got effort. First name basis
with President Benson.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
Well, the President will be here on Monday. I probably
should have saved that for him when he was here. Anyway,
Hey guys, I like this one a lot. Hey guys,
I wore my Hope hat for a hike of the
Tahoe Rim Trail. It is a one hundred and seventy
mile trail around Lake Tahoe. Look up. Unfortunately, there have
(01:16:48):
been no West Virginia connection stories in study. Instead, a
few folks have asked, what's the odd shaped oh on
the hat? I took the opportunity to talk about the
good work you guys do for the WU Cancer Institute
and the Food Insecurity program. In two days we will
be in Tahoe City. I cannot wait to see the
armada of lu Wendell marine pontoons at the marina.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
I think I see one out there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:13):
It will dwarf the Allied invasion fleet for D Day.
Thanks for what you guys do for the university and
the state. Mister Phil Hall from Ashland, Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (01:17:23):
Of a picture, wasn't it was?
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Well? I tell you what. Some of our listeners have
had a good summer. They've been to some places, been
to some places.
Speaker 3 (01:17:29):
They've been in Tahoe. Brad's at Cheatlink.
Speaker 1 (01:17:32):
This next one is our last textual healing and it's
super interesting and I'll explain. Hey, Tony, it was a
pleasure running into you this morning in front of the
football stadium. I know how all of you are into barbecue,
and I wanted you to invite the listeners to follow
our Facebook page which is called dog Bite Barbecue. We
just learned last week that we have been invited to
(01:17:54):
the Jack Daniels Barbecue World's Championship in Lynchburg and we'll
have some fun content on the page. Here are some
pictures of our recent successes. Let's go mountaineers. So I
met this gentleman and his two boys, got two young guys,
and he is really good buddies with Luke Darnell. So
(01:18:14):
he's in that same world. There's Luke right there. He's
in that same world of doing these world championship uh competitions.
Look at them, dude, like those right there, I would
annihilate them and there the bones might look at those ribs.
Are you serious? Oh, perfect, right, man. So this guy
(01:18:38):
is at a super high level. There's some brisket and
some ribs right there. I like how they put that
artificial turf underneath that stuff. That's kind of neat and uh.
And there's so there's his little guys. He got little
guy little guy helpers like those. Yeah, got little guy
s sous chefs there. Those guys who are going to
be barbecuing by the time they're like middle schoo Well,
(01:19:00):
they'll be doing whole hogs, no question, they'll be.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
Doing whole hogs.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
He got them working, They got their own aprons, and
they're probably making the little side things there and just fantastic. Yeah,
that's how I saw him. I saw him one little
one dude had a trophy when I was walking. I
was just walking in front of the football stadium and
they the two boys and he were walking and he
had an aluminum pan of barbecue. This is seven thirty
in the morning, and he says, Tony, big three guys, listener,
(01:19:26):
I want to just try this barbecue.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute. Wait, So they knew
you were walking.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
There, and I don't think so. I think he was
bringing it somewhere at the same time, simultaneous simultaneous passage.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
What barbecue synchronicity?
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
If he did new if he didn't know that, I
was going to be walking at that time. Now I'm
scared because that would be stalking, right, that would be.
Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
A good I didn't have any he declined.
Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
I just had taken something where I can't put anything
on top of that that at that hour. Oh, now
he comes back about three clock in the afternoon, they're
gonna be gonna be sparks coming off that styrofoam. I'll
tell you that dog gone much those chicken drumsticks, Like
I seriously, I could. I could spin that baby out
there and I'll be like a bone.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Stand. What's it called dog bite Barbecue?
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Correct? Dog Bite Barbecue. Check them out on their Facebook page.
So if he's bodies with Luke darn now that means
like super high level. Yeah, all right, as I get,
as I gather our stuff here, I'm hoping there's any
nothing that I didn't do. We are coming back on Monday.
We will have President Benson, Vice President A d Reren
(01:20:41):
Baker with us in the studio. Look forward to having
those guys on there. That's always a good hoot. We'll
have next Thursday, we'll come back in and we'll do
a minimum of three more over unders. Okay, So when
we're back here next Thursday, that's day two next week,
can we do more? I can't do Thursday. Excuse me?
Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
What I gotta be somewhere.
Speaker 1 (01:21:04):
No, dude, let me tell you something about you. Let
me tell you somethingoy you and your schedule. Ronnie retired,
you're on less. I mean you're you're not committed to
this show. It's obviously you're trying to separate. This is
exactly what happened with the Beatles. This is your Lennon.
I don't know where Yoko is, but you're pulling this.
When pulling this group part, you turn your mic off.
Speaker 2 (01:21:26):
Go ahead, you're around Wednesday. I'm around Wednesday. All right,
we'll talk.
Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
Might do wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:21:30):
I got you. I got seriously, I got to do
something on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
That's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
Well, so do we We got to record a show.
I understand.
Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
I'm sorry. I retirement has turned out to be pretty
busy for me.
Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
Seriously, that I'm not man.
Speaker 3 (01:21:45):
I'm managing retirement like Brad manages his food intake.
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
Poorly, not good. Yeah, all right, Michael, we'll talk.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
I like you there for over under. Oh I want
I want to be there.
Speaker 1 (01:21:55):
I don't know why you hate the show.
Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
I love the show.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
Three Guys before the Game your number, episode number six
and forty nine. So next time we come on, like
on Monday, we probably have more details on that show
we're going to do Thursdays before.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
On that, we might have more details on the food
court that's actually in place. That it might be nice
if you start telling people so they can plan for
that that is actually confirmed and known, rather than something
that is not confirmed yet exactly right, Yes, wouldn't that
be pr and promotion one on one talk about the
things you know are happening. Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
Absolutely, Well, I think people know the food Court's going
to happen Fridays and Saturdays. What they didn't know is
we're going to do live shows Thursdays.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
First of all, that right out of the gate is
in that, and that's not totally accurate. There's already a
change to that that has been voiced to you that
you continue to pass over, and so you're already inaccurate.
