a while since we met the Bobcats. We're gonna dive deep,
deep into the Bobcat world and figure it all out.

by Commonly CPA group providing value beyond numbers. All right,
it's West Virginia and Ohio University four o'clock start time
on Saturday. Spoke with their play by play voice just yesterday.
Told me they're getting ready in Athens for what they're

(01:32):
considering to be the biggest game since two thousand and
five when the pit Panthers visited. So I'll tell you
that going to be big from all And here's the
other piece to this. If you're going to the game,
all right, if you're going to the game and the
game as you're listening to this still hasn't been played

(01:55):
and you're not sitting in the stadium, you're too late.
What now? He said, you better get there early, like early.
He said this. He said, if you think, if you
think you're gonna roll in at two o'clock and like
be comfortable to find a place to park, and then

(02:16):
finally that you're gonna you're gonna miss some of the
first quarter.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Well, Mountaineer fans have gone to big games before.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
They that's not the issue. They that's not the issue.
Mountaineer fans aren't doing the logistics, they're not bringing up
that's not their responsibility.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Well, it's not.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
But listen, there's a lot of Mountaineer fans season ticket
holders now in Ohio. You I'm sure they know the
process there because they own season tickets to the game,
So they'll be fine because they're used to doing They
probably have green lot passes, shy and influx of West
Virginians on the Ohio season ticket base, so they'll be fine.
Season ticket holders know how to get around.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
I'm just saying, don't blame the messenger. If you're going,
don't play it late. Go super early, Otherwise you'll be
text us after the game's saying that it was an
absolute horrific situation. You missed half of the first court.
I'm just saying, just you decide.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Are they playing this at the old washing the Washington
Football Team Ballpark where they don't open the parking lot
cls till an hour and a half before.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
There's probably some folks from Parkersburg over there tailgating right now, right,
they're probably in the lots already.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Calm down, Tony, Okay, Hey, that's fine, that's fine. Let
me just we'll just see if there's anything that comes
out of it. If not, you can thank me for
telling you to get there. Early, and you got a
good situation. That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
I don't know if it's if it's four o'clock, do
you think mount their fans are going to get there?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Yes, But yeah, here's the problem. It's not that big
of a facility. They don't have a lot of that
good ingress egram. I mean, it's not just be ready. Okay, okay,
all right, do we noted? Noted noted? That's my obvious observation.
What about yours? I know you've been you've been really
working obviously on.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
These obviously are you only to go well, yeah, okay,
a obvious trap game?

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Now it's not the head football coach address that at
his press conference.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Trap game playing a home underdog opened at three and
a half, went down to two and a half. So
some of the money's coming back to three and a half. Okay,
So it's a definition of a trap game. Second, is
I love the coincidence Head coach Brian Smith is one
and one since becoming a head coach. His one win

(04:30):
Brad Jack State Jack State last year. This is an
Ohio university and Brad's going to get all over me
on this, but this is a pretty good program has
been for a number of years. Frank Solich had it going,
then handed off to Tim Albyn. They won thirty one
games in three years, eleven games last year, and then

(04:52):
Alvin left for Charlotte and they turned it over to
Brian Smith, so they filled internally for the last couple
of coaching Highers. So it's been a good program for
a while. I'm gonna Brad's gonna start rolling his eyes already.
Parker Navarro is legitimate, very good. He is a run
pass guy. He had almost one hundred yards last week

(05:13):
against Rutgers running and then Rutgers to something passing, so
he he's legit and you have to worry about a
running quarterback. They rallied in the second half, lost to
Rutgers thirty four to thirty one, but they did rally
in the second half. They have a big tight end.
By the way, mine lost over.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
They gave up thirty one in the first half to Rutgers,
but thirty one in the first half to Rutgers. Like
shut him down to three points in the second half,
so made a good effort in the second half. I
love the name of the tight end that called two
touchdown passes Jake Bruno.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
That's a tight end. Name, isn't it Jake Bruno. That's
tight I had two touchdown catches. Doesn't sound like a cornerback,
doesn't sound like No, it's a tight end. Yeah, they
like they run the RPO. I talked to Steve Dunlap
yesterday and former West Virginia defensive coordinator, and Dunlap said,
if you're gonna stop the RPO, the pressure is on

(06:05):
the corners and the safeties because they got to be
up there. They got to watch the pass obviously, but
they got to be up there in run support. So
he said, if you're doing the RPO, you probably are
not going to be able to throw deep. So the
corners and the safeties have to not be suckered in

(06:25):
and run down field. They got to stay up closer
to the line and be ready for the run or
the short passes. Brad West Virginia. If West Virginia wants
to run a football right, so a team's defense is
probably gonna load the box. If they load the box bad,
what do you want to do? Throw it?

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Throw it?

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Can West Virginia throw downfield? We saw the one big
one last week against with Cam Vaughn. But can they
do that consistently? They really didn't do it last week,
maybe didn't have to, didn't have to. So can they
throw deep? Can they stretch that defense?

Speaker 1 (07:00):
A Vona nine catches against this team for one in
the poll.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
He's still catching passes against this defense.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
But go ahead and have the players decided. I know
what the coaches say. I know what the coaches say, right,
and certainly they are saying it and saying it and
saying it, and sometimes it goes in one ear and
out the other. Have the players decided, and have whoever
the leaders are on this team going to be decided
that this is an important game and they better be

(07:28):
ready to play, because again, after the coaches say what
they say, somebody on this team or bodies have to
be leaders and get the other players to understand that
this is a legitimate program and a legitimate team and
you better be ready to play otherwise you're going to
get beat.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Obviously obviously, right, yeah, obviously he had a lot there.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
He had a lot that was really good.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Are you anxious about the game? Hop? Yes, you are, yeah,
and you should be, because I mean, there's absolutely nothing
wrong with you saying that this is a really good program. Yeah.
They won eleven games for the first time in school
history last year and they're picked third in the back
this year. Despite the coaching change, and what Frank Solich

(08:16):
did there was absolutely tremendous. They named the field after him.
Solich one of the all time great football stories. He
is the heir apparent at Nebraska for tom Osborne when
they were absolutely rolling in winning world championships, and that
Husker fan base turns on him in an instant as

(08:39):
soon as he doesn't do exactly what tom Osborne was doing,
and they have been paying the price, fair to say,
ever since, they've never recovered. Instead, Solo said, is that right,
We'll tell you I'm gonna do him go to Lincoln
andand over here to Athens and just gonna win a
bunch of games. Is gonna name the field after me?
And he's a class guy. So we never gave him

(09:01):
the full thumder nose, but like one of the all
time worst decisions in the Braska football history because they
haven't been themselves since I have not. So, Yeah, they're
a really good program.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Oh I thought you guys were going to shut me down.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
No, absolutely, it's a quality program.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
They were really good last year. Yes, they were really good.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Knocked off.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
I was stayed a couple of years ago at home too.
That's part of why people start to get anxious about
this game. I was stated to have a flu bug
running through their program in that particular game, though, which
was a factor. Good good team last year, Really good team.
Are you done?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
I am done? So.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I wasn't planning on doing this, but I'll have to
break out my my numbers on the eighty six Bears.
Since Kurtchivill lined up here, did you say you did
the line? You jumped right into the line there. West
Virginia is a twenty one point dog in this game. Apparently, No, yeah, no,
just say and a half points and a half your
greatest team ever to line up in college football?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
What I said, what I said, you're mischaracterizing what I said. Everyone,
No chances that I said not what I said. I'm saying,
you're on the roade against the team that you would
normally be. You would think you are a definitive favorite,
and you're only two and a half, three and a
half point favorite.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
That's significant. That's that way for a reason. I'm surprised
that line's low. You look at power rankings and it's
not even close to that. It's a ten point difference
in most power rankings. So I'm surprised at that line.
And that's why you see West Virginia now taking money.
Once it got under that key number of two and
a half, people jumped on that and the numbers starting
to go up the other way. Here's a couple other
things to counter Ohio's national championship.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Hid from Kertchible.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
This Ohio team's one hundredth nationally in returning production. So
we talk so much about all of West Virginia's new pieces.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Ohio.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
You right in that same boat, one of the bottom
thirty teams in returning production. They lost a twelve hundred
yard rusher, They lost a twelve hundred yard receiver that
had eight of their fourteen catches. They lost their top
four offensive lineman, they lost their entire starting front seven,
top five defensive lineman, top four linebackers. So this is
a team that was really really good last year. Hoping

(11:04):
we did that bowl game against jack State, this was
an outstanding team led by Navarro. You're right, he's very good.
This team lost a ton. Now I was surprised how
well they hung with Rutgers in that game. But there's
some numbers. Are we on the number segment?

Speaker 2 (11:19):
You start the number segment already. Let's just start the numbers.
We're going right in.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Kerchivale set this up as a national title, so I'm
not messing around with any nasties.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
We're going right to the numbers.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
So you just want to do it right, Yeah, going
for its third national championship game. I want to I
want to get the numbers.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
I'm not gonna get not gonna.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Up in a big game. Analytics, Let's do the let's go,
Let's do the numbers. Then if I we'll do the numbers.
Three guys before the game Spreads on Stats.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
This game, I wasn't playing on a road trip. I
might go to this game. I'm gonna leave today. I'm
gonna leave today so I get there early.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Might be going Three guys brought to us and Spreads
on Stats. Brought to us by Condley CPA Group. They
do provide value beyond numbers. They're a complete service public
accounting firm, but they do so much more. They're a
consulting firm, so they serve clients throughout West Virginia, surrounding states,
helping them, guiding them, shepherding them with their business questions.
They say, Nah, do it this way, don't do it

(12:18):
that way, otherwise this could happen. That's Condy CPA group
forty year anniversary going on right now. Local firm, experienced
pros and they do offer remote accounting so you don't
have to deal with all the numbers. They'll do it
for you and they won't even take up a parking space.
Kind of neat, isn't it all? Right? Jump on in here?

(12:39):
Are you putting a black You're you're putting a Buddy
Holly Glass last song?

Speaker 2 (12:42):
As I got a lot, I'm gonna kind of jump
around on this.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
He went straight Buddy Hollyglasses out there.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I review Slash, So let's just look at some things.
So this isn't a straight normal Keys to the game.
Let's just look at some different things about this. And
I want to start with this Rutgers game that Ohio
open with because I I do agree with Kurzgel from
this part of it. When this schedule came out, you
did look at this game as it's coming off. What
was we knew was going to be an obvious win

(13:08):
for West Virginia, and it sits right ahead of the
pit game, so I understand the trap game part of it.
It's your first time on the road. It is interesting, though.
I can't wait to see Tony. You'll have to report
back on how many Mountaineer fans are in this stadium.
Is it ten percent, is it twenty five percent? Is
at forty percent? But I think if you're if you're rich,
and you're West Virginia going on the road for the
first time, this is about as good a road situation

(13:30):
as you can have. It's close, and you're gonna have
a good contingent of fans whatever that number ends up being,
and it will be a loud contingent of fans. So
in terms of road games, and yes, Ohio use a
good program, but you got about as favorable a road
situation as I think you can come up with.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
So start with that.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
But I went from uh oh, this maybe is a
little bit of a trappy game too. You start digging
in and all those things I just said about how
new they are with their personnel. Then I back to Okay,
you're gonna go in and you're gonna handle this game.
You win by a touchdown or more, and you move
on to the pit game and it comes next. Then
you watch the Rutgers game and you're like, well, hold
on here, they did a little bit more than you
thought they might. And listen, Rutgers probably isn't going to

(14:09):
win a national championship. I might not be on a
limb all due respective course to our friends at Rutgers.
I don't know how good they are, but there's certainly
a team that you would have thought would would have
been able to go through an OHIOU team on the road,
putting in a bunch of new pieces, and they just couldn't.
They didn't get that win until late in the fourth quarter.
But let's look at a couple of things here. Sure
in that game. First of all, Ohiou was really efficient.

(14:31):
They did not get inside of Rutgers forty yard line
very often inside the scoring zone a little different than
the red zone of course, scoring zone inside the forty.
So if you look at their points per opportunity, really high.
Five trips inside that forty and they produced twenty four
points off of that, almost five points per opportunity. That
was a lot. Conversely, Rutgers got inside the Ou forty

(14:55):
ten times but walked away with only thirteen points. So
that's one of those games, guys, if you dive into
those numbers and start to look, maybe that game should
have been a little more in favor of Rutgers than
what it was. Rutgers just one point three points per opportunity,
really low, so they didn't take advantage of some of
their opportunities. Rutgers also held a seven yard field position

(15:18):
in that game. We always say, you start to get
up closer to ten, your chances of winning increase, So
maybe that game was a little bit closer than you
might have expected it to coming out of that game
Week one, let's jump over to the defense for a second.
Hopy I mentioned they gave up thirty one in the
first halfter Rutgers, then you're right kind of got it together,
only gave up three in the second. But coming out

(15:39):
of Week one, OU has the one hundred and eighth
tackling grade in PFF out of one thirty six. If
I'm OHIOU and I'm looking at something this week, they
better get tackling fixed or they're going to have a
big problem against this West Virginia offense. We saw Jahem wide,
in particular run through tackle after tackle against Robert Morris.
That's a concern if I'm O you that you're in

(16:00):
the bottom. What is that twenty eight teams in terms
of tackling grade overall defense one twenty seven out of
one thirty six. Rutgers had its way offensively, couldn't punch
it in when they got inside that forty, as I
just said, but really had their way one twenty seven
out of one thirty six for this remade OU defense.
Now here's another one to look at, Hoppy, you asked

(16:22):
about the ability to throw the ball if you had to,
OHIOU comes in one thirty four out of one thirty
six when it gets to coverage grade.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
That's not real good.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
That's something to be concerned about. Again, if you're Ohio
you and you're worried about that, replacing that entire front
seven and then a couple of your d backs, that's
Those are some alarming numbers right there, guys.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Six and a half. Cam Vaughan over under catches.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Over I mean you mentioned I was going to go
there on the camvon one eighty three. I mean he's
still catching passes in that bowl game, and that was
a quality OU defense that was top twenty in the
nation and have it created. We're off early with our havoc.
If you had over two on havoc in the first
two weeks the season, you're over because I'm going to
avic again. Top twenty last year OU defense and Cam

(17:07):
Vaughan caught passes all day long. You know who else
had a big game last year receiving Rod Booie, Thank you, Tony,
appreciate that tryst. The former player of the year here.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
In the state.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Does he re emerge this game. You're gonna have to
throw it a little bit because you're right, they're gonna
load the box. Now, let's see if they can tackle
if they load the box. But I think you should
have some success offensively here.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Pac Man Fox, you know he had a great special
teams game. Did not have a catch in the game
the other day. Pac Man might get himself a handful.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Man Man Singleton could be could be Rodney Gallagher ready
to break out here.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
You know this isn't man Man's first time against this.
Bobcat team played against him last November in Athens. Had
a good game. Believe he sneered five, had hit his way,
had five catches.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
Rutgers quarterback in that game against OU went eighteen of
twenty three, two fifty two and two touchdowns. That was
a career high completion percentage from me. So we're seeing
Nico coming off his career high in completion percentage getting
an OU defense that just gave up a career high
to the Rutgers quarterback. Here's another one that led to
this tackling grade guys, Rutgers had one hundred and thirty

(18:12):
five of its one hundred and fifty two rush yards
after contact, had seven rushes of ten or more yards,
so you can see why it was what it was.
Here's the other thing. Rutgers clearly knew it had something offensively,
goes for fourth down five times in that game, including
at the end of the game to try and seal
that thing. Went forward on fourth and seven converted. Not

(18:34):
only that one converted every fourth down against this OU team,
five of five.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
But weirdly, it was one of ten on third down, which.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
Is probably why they had five fourth downs, but got
it every single time without any push. How many times
you go for it on five made all five forward
five made all five of them.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
They were one to ten on third.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Yeah, that's a stat you don't see it right.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
So again, if I'm OHIOU and I just struggled to tackle,
and I just struggled to contain a passing game, and
you've got a rich offense in here. If you're going
to struggle to tackle, guess what he's gonna keep doing.
Guess what he's gonna want to do. Keep So I
think first and foremost before you get over to the
concern about containing Parker Navarro, which I'll get to now,
because there's a little bit of a concern there, that

(19:15):
defense for OU has to be much better than it
was against Rutgers, or Rich is just gonna keep running that.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Okay. If that's the case, then maybe a little bit more.
Number two, Tye Edwards this weekend, big body guy that
kind of takes on first contact.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
Well should be more ready, I would think with Tye Edwards.
But again I think a heavy dose to jaheem. I mean,
I think you're gonna see if you bring in Scotty's
airway again, he can run it. Nico Fox, Nico Schmid
at two thirty two, you need to line him up
and just run right at people.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
You can do that as well. What.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
I'm sorry, what with Scotty fox Scotty's airway, Scotty FOXX
say that same thing. So I'm anxious to watch this
West Virginia offense against a step up in in competition
in terms of athleticism and talent, but against a team
that struggled mightily in Week one with a bunch of
new parts itself. So that's my first matchup. Pops questions, No.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
But Dom, you're making a really strong argument undermining my
obvious observation. So keep going. I'm fine with.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Them, just trying to provide balance, covered chair, Ops. Since
he went one way, I'll go to the other. All right,
let's talk about Parker and Navarro for a second, because
he's really good in today's day and age, kind of
surprising he's still at O You right, I would have
thought that's a guy given what he did last year
in the Bowl game, throwing for two hundred plus running
for another one hundred. Really elusive and fast, both of

(20:34):
those things. So he had a couple of plays in
those Rutgers game that just make defensive coordinators crazy where
he pulls it down and he starts to take off
and then pulls up before the line of scrimmage and
drops it over the defense. So I think you're most
concerned about him when he takes off. Although he didn't
have a ton of those, three of his nine carries
against Rutgers were classified as scrambles, but just be careful

(20:55):
when he takes off. That was the second highest rush
usage rate for the game, behind their number one running
back Bangura.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Am I saying that right?

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Right? Ben Saie Bean Gura? Thank you? Really weird situation.
He emme at matthewsed, oh really, and came back. He
m at Matthews, Yeah, he left, came back, went up
to Minnesota, had a great season at Ohia and then
gets the you know, gets the nudge, goes to Minnesota,

(21:25):
gets four carries the entire year for the Gophers.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
So he decided not to continue to row the boat.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
He took the boat. Lou Wendell got a Lou Wendel Pontoon.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Said, I'm gonna take you row the boat. I'm gonna
get a nice wend I gonna not row it. Turn
the engine on and go yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Hey, PJ, you can take the ore and put it
somewhere else. I'm going on down the road with a
Lou Wendell Pontoon and coming back to a Higau.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Now they have a lineman that did the same thing, right,
didn't He got a Rutgers and then came back.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
I believed they did not have a single player in
the transfer portal at Christmas last year. Oh, obviously they
had some guys going after. But before that, like everyone
was in only team of the country at that point
that didn't have any portals.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Okay, here's a matchup to watch, kirts. Will you want
to match up? Yes, we thought, or at least I'll
speak for myself, not for you too. I thought the
West Virginia defense looked fast, looked athletic, and got after
it on Saturday. Brought great pressure, I thought him and
Russell was very good. Karaco with pressure. Devin Grant I mentioned,
was in on seemingly every play. Eddie Kelly had a
nice game up front as well. Can West Virginia's pass

(22:30):
rush get to Navarro against Rutgers? He was just too
of eight when under pressure. Now again that's not a surprise,
right quarterbacks struggle under pressure, news flash. But when he
was kept clean in that game, how about this guy's
nineteen of twenty three for two fifteen and two touchdowns.
So two issues. One if if he stays clean and
you can't get to him, he's probably gonna have success

(22:51):
throwing it. And then if you do get pressure, can
you contain also, because that's when he's a little bit scary,
when he gets outside and goes. But start with some
pressure and maybe we make an early prediction here that
an interception may be coming for Parker Navarro. And that's
something we have not seen. We didn't see it all
last year from West Virginia. So few turnovers forced. You
saw it a couple of years ago with Beanie Bishop

(23:13):
having an All American year, part of why West Virginia
was able to win nine games. In his career, Navarro
has fifteen big time throws according to PFF, fifteen big
time throws, nineteen turnover worthy plays, so very good, very talented.
Those numbers suggest there may be some turnovers coming. Can
you get some pressure at ev Can our guy get

(23:35):
in there, cause some problems and get a pick or
two here in this game?

Speaker 1 (23:38):
How about a how about a sider's sack? He was
very good too. How about a siders they may have
been They may have been had the reins on him
a little bit. You know, horses hoppy, Well, you know this.
You grew up rate near the horse track there eastern Pana.
You know how they those jockeys will kind of just
hold him back a little bit, hold them back, then
let them go. They may have had the reins on

(23:59):
him him Saturday and they may have to give him
a little bit of a giddy up there.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Did Rutgers get a sack? Uh?

Speaker 3 (24:09):
No, I don't believe. I'll have to look that up.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
I don't know that.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I don't know. You don't You don't have to sack
if you can hurry.

Speaker 3 (24:15):
Yeah, pressure, pressure's more to the point, right, And that's
and that's the thing. Like most quarterbacks, Navarro struggled when
he was under pressure. Right there, the tight ends. You
mentioned OU's tight ends as he looks for weapons, losing
that twelve hundred yard receiver that caught the bulk of
their touchdowns more than half of their touchdown passes last year, Bruno,
you're wright came back with two. Their other tight end

(24:36):
was a freshman All American and Mason Williams. So they're
very good at the tight end position. They had the
two highest those those two tight ends. The two highest
predicted points added against Rutgers. So that's going to be
an area to keep an eye on there. But to me,
the two parts get some pressure that potentially leads to
a pick or two. So I'll go on on record
here saying I think that a pick is coming. And

(24:57):
then I do think Cam Vaughan you mentioned I think
Cam Vaughn can have another big game in this.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Particular game, I'm going I'm going Cam Vaughn and Fox
Fox in P Fox or s Fox P pac Man
pac Man Fox pac Man Fox. I think pac Man
will make some catches.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Rich talked about it in his press conference this week.
It is interesting that these two teams played each other.
So Richard said yesterday during or two days ago during
his press conference that he had he had started preparation
for Ohio you when the West Virginia job came open
and then moved on, but he wasn't sure how much
that helps. He's seen it, yes, but they've seen West
Virginia's base system at some extent too. The one difference

(25:36):
the matchup to watch Jack State almost at West Virginia
couldn't run it on OU last year, Jack State didn't
run it real well in that game. One point two
yards per carry in that bowl game, so that's why
they had to go to the air and throw it.
But totally different. As I mentioned earlier, Front seven, all
new Front seven for Ohio.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
You they got blown out in the first half of
that game and then put on a furious rally to
make it a competitive game. Rod Smith was the play
caller that day for Jacksonville State. Now is the offensive
coordinator with Tony Gibson over at Marshall. Always a West
Virginia correct connection, always a West Virginia connection.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
It's a pretty good that's a book what I got
to try and counter's National championship game here.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
I think you tempered him down a little bit. Hey, Hoppy,
there's nothing wrong with what you did. You made obvious observations.
He just came back in with factual observations. No big deal.
It's fine.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
We all have our specialties.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Absolutely an attack on you, I was, those are the
numbers I was going to bring anyway. Well, I understand,
but I just didn't know you were going to come
out of the gate so strongly.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
There you were. You were dismissive of my points.

Speaker 1 (26:39):
He really was. Yeah, he was a little discising.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
And also also mischaracterizing a lot of what I said.
I don't I don't think that's true. Well too, he's
never done that.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
We'll come in Sunday, and if West Virginia GaX went
up here, then then you'll have certainly the last word
Western comes in and rolls by ten or more. You
might just want to be prepared. So there's the two scenarios.
I'll eat it if West Virginia and he goes in
it kicks one. I'll eat it on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
I don't want them. I don't want them to kick.
I'm not making an argument that I hope, oh you wins.
I'm making I'm making when I think are the obvious
arguments that this still remains a trap game and you
better be ready because this is a solid program. Yes,
they got a bunch of new guys, but they have
an effective running quarterback, which what Tony is always a

(27:23):
problem always And you still don't know. I know we
said after Robert Morris, like, oh, we know this team's
not going to be bad. But you play Robert Morris
ten times, you beat them ten times. So now you're
playing a better team. How do you perform against a
better team. Let's see sure I think you're right on it.
Huh well, thank you.

Speaker 1 (27:42):

Make fun now, you make fun now.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
If you haven't left already, don't bother.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
You know what? It's fine?

Speaker 2 (29:21):
No serious?

Speaker 1 (29:22):
No now is the's nothing serious? No no, now. My
feelings are just.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Just trying to pride a community service and you're all
over him.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
First of all.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
The folks that take three days off work and head
over and get to get to the stadium early.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Kurtibal Kurtible's gonna go. She does show up at three
forty five, going to the Pieden Stadium at three forty five.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
They do say it's going to be the biggest crowd.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
I have to say last night I did spend some
time with our good friend Coach Hunter, trying to go
over the parking map to see where the best place
to park was. Did you in anticipation of the same
thing that Tony.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Said, would you go over that way?

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Hi? Hunter had we had to try to map out
where the where the parking spots were.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
He's making today, he's making it a Saturday morning. He's
going over Saturday morning.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Well I think so, I think so.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yeah, when are you going Saturday morning? Oh?

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Really?

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yeah? Early?

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Oh, because you're not going to early.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Trust me, I'm gonna get there early. I'm not going
to be the guy.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Yeah, you better not get caught in traffic of all people.
Welcome to the ballgame, folks. I'm Dwight Wallace with Jed Drenning.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
We go live to play by play voice Tony Credy
from his car as he's getting parked.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Now, I'm going to be there early, you know, and.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
You have a parking pass. Yeah, but it could be
just a one.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Here's here's a good thing. Like when you do go
down fifty right, Yeah, Like they say that there's a
mechanical problem with the vehicle. It's the one game where
you know all you have to do is stand on
the shoulder and lift your hand up. There's gonna be
so many well by, so many West Virginia fans are
going to be zipping on by.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
I am anxious to see that. We're interested to see
how many how many fans there actually are. I've heard
from a handful of folks that did do that, bought
their season tickets in order to go to this game.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Yeah, oh wait, that's a that's a beautiful campus. Have
you ever been there? Yes, it's a beautiful campus.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Last time I was there, there was some equipment problems
with the basketball stanchion during a game.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Coach Hunter remember that time, called the coach Hunter. H
Coach Hunter on the brain there?

Speaker 1 (31:15):
Yeah, couldn't he?

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Yes, So we played basketball there, had a little situation.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
During the game.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
What was it? That was Geno Ford era Ford era?

Speaker 1 (31:25):
Yeah, you remember we played those cats. Gary Trent was here. Sure,
Gary Trent was a dude, you think, Yeah, that was
good back. Larry Hunter did a fantastic job there. But
you know what, Danny Nee used to coach there at
the high University and basketball had an assistant by the
name of Fran for Schella.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Really, Fran tells.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
An unbelievable story about this wicked snowstorm that was going
on and fran was supposed to leave during practice to
go cross West Virginia over like the Cumberland, like Alleghany,
the recruited kid, and so fran Lee's and the Bobcats
are practicing and about five minutes into the trip, like

(32:03):
Frank goes like, there's no way I can make this trip.
So he turns around and he goes back to the
gym and he walks back in and Danny Knee saw him,
and he said, oh my goodness. Now Danny Knee was military.
He said, I've never in my life been ripped like that.

(32:25):
Got back in the car and he said he drove
over and he said Billy Han, who was an assistant
on that staff, was the guy they'd said listen deep breaths.
He goes, this is what you're going to do, and
I think he said, just get to Morgantown, stay the night,
and then finish through and go over the next day.
And that's what he did. Yeah, Frand always never forgets

(32:48):
that story. You know, Frand met his wife. First date
fran for Shilla had with his wife was at the
mall in Parkersburg. What yeah, what's that called Grandview Grand
Station or Central Grand Central, Grand Central Mall. That was
the first place they went on the.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Date to the mall.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
Yeah, well back in the era, hop, I mean we're
talking seventies now.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Probably when you've got a big old pretzel.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
Yeah, probably a seventies something like that. But yeah, I
mean they were at Athens and so he brought her
over there and they went to that grand Central Mall
that's still around Small world. It is a friend will
not be at the game, Saturady, you know, why.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
Can't get there early enough.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
And leave you.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Hey, but Brad, you touched on this, but what a
what a good game to have in terms of when
it comes quality of opponent. It's a step up in
quality of opponent. But you're not playing Penn State. West
Virginia fans can get there, a little bit of a rival,
a little bit tiny bit of a rowe because a
neighboring state. It's just a it's a good game to have.

Speaker 3 (33:52):
It's as we've said many times, it's the second stare
in a nice staircase up schedule for West Virginia and
again road game. So you get some of that out
of your system. Understand the logistics for an entirely new group,
new group of players. But it's a road game that
will have a less hostile environment than some you're going
to face because of all the West Virginia contendents.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
So it's a great spot.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Now.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Now, if you're the team, just go out and take
care of business. Go out, handle your business, come back,
and then get ready for what will be an absolute
chaotic week heading into pit.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
Exactly if you are going to the game, can the
team get there?

Speaker 2 (34:26):
If you're driving in with buses that.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Game day, they know how bad it is. They're staying
in Columbus Friday.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
That's true, there's no place for the buses to park
in Anthens.

Speaker 1 (34:36):
So if you are going to the game, and you're
listening to this before the game actually happens, and you'd
like to listen to the MSN broadcast in the stadium,
eighty nine point one FM, eighty nine point one FM. Okay,
we'll put up our little pirate radio transmitter eighty nine
point one FM if you'd like to listen to the game.

(34:56):
Here's something that's always special if you are going to
the game. Guess what's coming back? Triple point Saturdays at
gomart Oh did you hear what I said? If you've
got the app and the rewards card kickoffs not the
only thing worth cheering for. Triple points Saturdays at every
go Mart every Saturday in the fall, rewards members rack
up triple points on everything, snacks, drinks, gas, you name it,

(35:19):
you got it. More points, more savings, more excuses to snack.
Visit the Gomart app, download that Gomart app. And also,
you know, all you have to do is going on
any Gomart. They got a QR code going in right now. Yeah,
the Ultimate tailgating package. Just sign up for it and
once you get at two hundred dollars go Mart gift card,

(35:40):
a pop up tent, a portable grill, and a cooler.
It's a starter pack for domination. So all you have
to do is go into any Gomart, scan the QR
code that puts you in, and you could be a winner.
You can get a world championship.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Get your connection three to zero four there while you're
at the Gomart and put it right in that cooler
you've just won. Yeah, that's the other nice thing about
this road game. You'll hit plenty of Go Marts. If
you're driving from the state leaving today and heading over,
you'll go through lots of Go marts there.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
You'll get ready before you get there. And they have
him in Ohio too.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
They do have him in Ohio.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
They do have they have him in the state of
Ohio as well. All Right, you guys, ready for a
little little healing.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
Hit a traffic jam, just pull over in the parking lot,
listen to the game.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
A lot of people.

Speaker 3 (36:18):
You see, he's going to be insufferable when he comes
in Sunday and there'll be a bunch of texts and
say they got caught in traffic. You think I'm going
to be insufferable. If West Virginia wins by fourteen, your
boy over here. If there's a lick, if there's two
cars trying to get into the beginners, your boys will
be insufferable.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
May we may have overplayed or overplayed that because he
might be right on.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
What I may do is go back and it'll be
the first replay edition of Three Guys Like we'll pull
cuts from the show. Let's take a look at the videotape.
Here's kergieball Kurge. We'll say West Virginia got no judge Boom.
Here's career to conference traffic, big headline in the Affens paper,
Traffic may have.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Traffic in a century.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
Yeah, yeah, well we'll take it. That's all right. This
all stays on tape. As y'all know, it is time
for your input. Textual healing is our text line that
you can chime in on at three oh four four

(37:17):
oh four forty eighty three. Three zero four four zero
four forty eighty three will accumulate these texts. Not all
of them can be used because we just get too
many of them. I would say, however, that they I
would say it's fair to say that they're all red,

(37:39):
and then sometimes you get an individual response a lot
of the same. You know, ones are themed simularly, simularly
you guys ready ready, it's god, I gotta put on
my I mentioned it all. Let me get this, I mean,
scummy clean up a little bit. I mentioned it all.
That they're concerned about traffic coming up on setn.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
That do you have anything on that?

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Get there early, that's what they're saying, Get there early,
all right? You ready?

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I do think Mountaineer fans will get there early, regardless
of his warning or not.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
Yeah, I think they will too.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
That's why you weather's going to be ideal. Why not
get that early?

Speaker 2 (38:19):
They will yeah our first one.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Hey, three guys, this is Luke Vass from Fayetteville, West Virginia.
I would love for you all to give my grandmother,
Margaret Michael of Beckley, a shout out and well wishes
as she is battling cancer. She has a lifelong mountaineer
of seventy plus years, and we'll watch every game this
season while she is kicking cancers. But I love the

(38:43):
pod appreciative of you guys and all that you do
and represent West Virginia. I will see you guys week
three in Morgantown. Let's go. So Margaret, we wish you
the absolute, very very best, and I love that you're
ready to kick cancers butt and we certainly do appreciate
it and wish you the very very best. Tony Senator

(39:04):
and the retired Ish hop Hello. I heard you mentioned
there were a few people that purchased Ohio season tickets
in order to attend Saturday's game. A group of friends
and I got together. We bought eight season tickets for
a whopping four hundred dollars, throw in a parking pass
for another one hundred tongue click in order to secure seats.

(39:25):
I know of a few more people that did the
same thing. I expect a huge turnout. I can't wait
to make the eighty minute drive from Putnam County. Keep
up the good work, the assumed mayor of eleanor ps.
If you guys know anybody looking for Gardner, Webb or
U Mass tickets, I'm the cheap point them my way,
you know.

Speaker 3 (39:42):
Unfortunately I didn't write down the answer to this, but
coach on the other night on sports Line, if you
go back and find it on the podcast, they're collecting.
There's an organization there that's collecting any unused tickets. Really,
so for West Virginia fans that bought those season tickets
and aren't going to use the others, if you'd like
to send those into this organization, they'll distribute it them
to kids in need in that area that might like

(40:02):
to go to that game. So that was on the
Monday edition of sports Line. If you want to go
back and listen to that.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Okay, very good. Joe from Barbersville looking forward to the game.
Friend of mine from church, his son plays in the
Ohio band. Season tickets there for several years, had a
chance to purchase individuals for the school. So I'll be
sitting at the forty yard line about twenty five rows
up bonus for US Huntington fans. The drive is a

(40:28):
leisurely hour and a half versus the trip to Morgantown.
My friend also tipped me off concerning parking, from which
I hear is atrocious. He said to park at the fairgrounds.
Park at the Fairgrounds twenty dollars American money, and shuttle
right to the stadium entrance. So he might want to
go to the Fairgrounds there. I'm just trying to help. Hey,

(40:48):
you go, Joe, good tip. Texter gave you some actionable
information there. It was.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
I'm just looking at the party. They got a whole
section here pre sale. Game day parking passes are sold out.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
I would think I heard it was gonna be big.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
We only have seven spaces.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
But on still, why would you say something like that.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
I was just I was being a wise guy. But
they the parking lots. If you have a open at
seven am. Let's see that. Now you got me concerned.
I'm not going.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Hobby's gonna be nervous for the people that are going. Texter,
on a recent trip up US thirty three from the
Canaw Valley to Columbus. I decided to stop in Athens
do a little early scouting. With the gate open, no
one was around, I took the chance to look around.
I can definitely say the stadium is no mountain near field,
but it should still be a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, I

(41:37):
didn't have a football with me to attempt a field
goal challenge. So Nate, look what he did, Brad. He
went on the field and blacked out his face so
he couldn't be arrested for trespass. There he is, and
then he took another shot down the sideline.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
There he is again.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, this next one a nice stadium there, Yeah, it
was a very nice stadium. This this next one always
just flabbergasts. Listen closely. Readings men from Joe Oliverio. My
daughter Alyssa was in Prague, Czech Republic, attending a Vivaldi
concert and saw a guy there with a West Virginia hat.

(42:15):
When she was near their theater, she went up to
him and said, you know, my dad always wears a
West Virginia hat. Can I get a picture with you?
He says, wait, pulls out the West Virginia flag and
takes a picture to send to me. Small world. His
name is Tim, He's from Wheeling, and he knows her
uncle Mike. So she just by chance meets this guy

(42:38):
after a Vivaldi concert in the Czech Republic and he
knows her uncle. That's West Virginia and.

Speaker 2 (42:45):
Only a West Virginia wears his or her West Virginia
cat to a concert and carries a flag. Hold on,
I pull my flag out flag here?

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Yes, seriously, the flag. The flag did make it. Yeah,
you need anything else? Readings? Uh Andrew from Danville. I
had the full three guys experience for the game. In
the opener, here we go, look at these pictures. He
goes tutors for breakfast. Yeah, good start, got gas at Gomart,
help view, got a fly rod, slim besides.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
That slim.

Speaker 3 (43:20):
Away the elkv won. You know one of my favorites.
Hockey been there about fifteen times this summer. It's a
good one.

Speaker 1 (43:24):
Then he made it over to the three guys food court.
I saw Brad and Hoppey, but I didn't want to
interrupt them as they were talking as me and my
son Carter moved through. Look at you got that rev
keV bishes. Then he heads over to the stadium later.
So there was his son Andrew good young man, I'm sure.
And then he goes to stay. There's there's Boss Ross. Ye,
Boss Ross Hodge there at the ball game.

Speaker 3 (43:47):
So yeah, I had a good time and a really
good experience in his first Mountaineer basketball game.

Speaker 2 (43:51):
Had to recruit there.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Yeah, like the atmosphere football. I hope he has a
good experience his first basketball.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Game as well.

Speaker 3 (43:58):
But yeah, is that kid that nationally ranked top one
hundred there, Tony Good?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (44:03):
Big a few of those young fellas, we'd be a
big as they say, Phil.

Speaker 1 (44:06):
And Ashland, Kentucky. Seventeen years ago, I was at West
Virginia's opening game. I was at a towlgate with hundreds
of my closest friends that I did not know. Cherry
Michigan's lost to Appalachian State. I don't remember who we
played or whether or not we won, but at that
moment it didn't matter. Rich Rodriguez lost. We have certainly
come full circle and it feels great. Thanks for all

(44:28):
you do to West Virginia's everywhere. Hey, Tony, Yes, sir.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
Parking information does reinforce what the texture said.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
That you don't believe me, believe the Texter.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
Check out the available off campus lots and shuttle services
if you.

Speaker 3 (44:46):
Park it, freaking guy, you talked to the ou guy.
That's not a good enough source. Kirchivill was on Facebook
getting information.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
He's on Craigslist.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
No, this is the official park because guys.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
I'll have to Now you've made me, You've pushed me
over to his side. He did give me the information
from a credible source.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
Now you're speaking definitively. I just was reinforcing I'm coming
around to this parking thing. I'm coming, he says, to
go to the fair grounds.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
I was. I wasn't buying it early, but I finally
came around to it. There's going to be a lot
of people in a lot of cars in a small space.

Speaker 2 (45:28):
You can pre instagram real and now I'm in.

Speaker 1 (45:31):
Yeah. Nick the Greek Texas Nick the Greek Fellas Happy
back to football season. Growing up in Bridgeport, going to
West Virginia as a freshman two thousand and seven, Saturday
had me all my fields, so many great memories. With
the birth of my son this summer has me even
more excited to share the joys and create new memories
with him. I'm also he had us up last year

(45:53):
on this about this year's Greek festival down in Clarksburg.
Now that comes up Friday, twelve September. It's one day
only and we will have dine in, takeout and pre
orders available. Now, this is what I like this. I
want to tell you. I want to talk about this
a little bit. He says, it, hands down is the
best Greek food in the state. It's all homemade gyros, baclevah,
all of the Greek essentials that we know and love.

(46:14):
Flyer and website attached. I didn't get to that. The
baklavav will go fast, so make sure to pre order
it for your pit game tailgate. All of your friends
and family will thank you. As always, I'd be happy
to share any and all Greek food with you. All.
You got bucklevov from I believe Hudson's family last year,
with all due respect, you have to have real Greek
bucklevov from us. All jokes aside. Looking forward to this season,

(46:37):
listening to you all. See right there at the end
that last graph and that really that sentence speaks volumes
about ethnic people and their food. He came back with,
I believe you had bucklevoff from Hudson's family. Then he
goes with this one with all due respects, you have
to have real Greek Bucklevov from us like people are

(46:58):
incredibly territory about their food, Like if it isn't this,
then it don't count. So if you're into that, by
all means A ten coming up, tex Scopes. Thank you
very much for clarifying my recent question regarding hyenas and
the Deans actually a diagnosis of your fixation. In all seriousness,
watching Rich get emotional during Country Roads made me realize

(47:21):
why we needed them back aside from starting the postgame tradition.
He understands the magnitude that the program has on the state,
and the blue collar work ethic and the fan based
craves of its world champion mountaineers. He gets us, and
I'm damn proud to again call him our football coach
once again. And also, would you please rate my Robert
Morris game day play Glenn from Glenn Ferris. He went

(47:42):
two slaw dogs and it's a good picture. I mean
he went heavy on the sloe. That was not like
there wasn't like, hey there's a little teeny bit left.
Let's know. He just he slaughed them he did.

Speaker 2 (47:52):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (47:53):
This is this next one is a wow. This goes
back to our last episode when Hoppy did a great
job letting us know that Robert Morris owned land in
West Virginia.

Speaker 2 (48:03):
Now, which was in Virginia, but k became West Virginia.

Speaker 1 (48:05):
Yeah. Now the rest of the story. Oh, okay, don't
look down at it, don't read it. Just let me
read it. Let me read it, and you hear it
all right. As a young West Virginia attorney, I frequently
reviewed title on land that Robert Morris once owned. It
wasn't tens of thousands of acres. It was five hundred
thousand acres.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
By the way, I didn't say tens of thousands.

Speaker 1 (48:26):
You did whatever. Now see, I think that's not true,
and we could go back and find that.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
We can go back.

Speaker 1 (48:32):
You did say tens of thousands, did I? Yes?

Speaker 2 (48:34):
Well, tens okay, go ahead, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (48:36):
Well it was five hundred thousand. That's tens of thousands
out of tens of thousands. You could have said hundreds
of thousands. But okay, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
He's got to land.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Yeah. Well, he goes on with the birth of West
Virginia's mineral extraction industry in the late nineteenth century. Robert
Morris's successors in interest reasserted their claim to the land
ultimate eighteen ninety eight. The case goes to the US Supreme Court,
which told the Morris claimants toughlof The seminal title abstract
on the Morris Patten was written by West Virginia Senator

(49:05):
Chapman Revercombe, who lost his Senate reelection campaign in nineteen
fifty eight to Robert C. Byrd. Some of the Morris
lands came to be owned by Island Creek Coal Company,
which was once chaired by Al Gore Sr. Other lands
came to be owned by James O. Cole, whose grandson
Cole Porter lived off of his family's coal wealth while

(49:28):
composing some of Broadway's most famous musicals. And now he says,
you know the rest of the story, that's impressive.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
That has some strong Robert Morris from you first hop
and then our texter there that's really well.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
Appreciate the deep dive. There was a lot more tentacles there.
They're fascinating.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
If you were done, yeah, but if you were worth
a nickel, you would have had the real estate abstracts
on the parking at Ohio University. Where did it all start?
Who owned the parking at Ohio University in the eighteen hundred?

Speaker 2 (49:58):
There's a just that blows my mind. There was a
cold porter connection.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
Yeah, why wouldn't there be?

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Exactly?

Speaker 1 (50:06):
Texter Tony mentioned he enjoyed watching the airplane's land in
Morgantown when he got his gas at the Gomart out
there on the mile ground. Here is a picture of this.
Here's a picture of our bird that we flew in
for the Mountain Air game. Okay, very nice. Big shout
out to the FBO crew at Morgantown Municipal who take
great care of us and our airplane when we fly in.
So he flies that board bad boy in there, got
a little bit of a golden blue. And there they

(50:28):
are at the food court.

Speaker 2 (50:29):
Oh very good. Right, Yeah we met them because there.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
Yeah, sure you did, hop that's your Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
I remember talking to him. Yeah, I flew in.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
Got the nice Daniels quarter zip on there too. Ye,
fine looking Phil.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
So another big topic last show, Hoppy, you made a
suggestion that West we need to come up with a
name when West Virginia goes into its tush push and
our listeners immediately jumped on it good and I got one,
and a little bit after six o'clock Sunday, we recorded

(51:02):
Sunday morning, a little bit after Sunday, and it was
this one. First one in some ideas for the tush push,
you could call it coal rush mountain mash and assuming
people know the origins of that good old mountain dew
mountain mash. Of course, of Nico's running the Nico Nudge,

(51:24):
And then others came in and said, Niko nudge is funny, Yeah,
calls how about this? He called it the Nico Sneako.
My gut has that even when we play multiple quarterbacks,
Nico will be the tush push quarterback with his size.
Thanks for the pod. This came from Arch from Arch Street,
and yes that is my real name, but Arch, I
bet you don't live on Arch Street. And here's some

(51:45):
other ones. The Nico Nudge, the spruce Blob, which I
think is hilarious, spruce knobs, spruce blob, the push car push,
the John Denver Drive, the I seventy nine shove, or
if you want to get concepted, actual the PRT because
it's a huge structure designed to move one guy a
relatively short distance. I'll see myself out. That one's pretty funny,

(52:09):
you know what I'm going with?

Speaker 2 (52:10):
What are you going with?

Speaker 1 (52:11):
Mountaineer mash?

Speaker 2 (52:12):
Are you yeah?

Speaker 1 (52:13):
Because it's a it's a It is an ode to
the to the moonshine industry, right the mash mash. You
make mash when you make that stuff, and I think
that's what it is mean. You just get your your mash.
I'm going with, I'm going with going to the mountaineer mash.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Well, it's up to you. You're the.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
I'm gonna try the mountain. Did he say mountain mash?
I think I'm gonna go mountain cash.

Speaker 3 (52:33):
Richard Tyree on Twitter hit us up once the once
it called the Hillbilly plunge.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
There's a yeah, mountain mash, mountain. I like that, mountain
mash or mountaineer.

Speaker 1 (52:43):
I'm gonna go mountain mash, mountain mash ARTI is funny
mountain mash. Uh. So this is a follow up to
again some pictures from for this weekend. Frank and Chad
Moore with the Man this weekend before the game with
Robert Morris. That's him for those that don't know, that
is Dave without a Home in the middle. I think

(53:04):
I'm gonna change his name to Dave without a home.

Speaker 2 (53:06):
It's Chad in the hat. Frank.

Speaker 1 (53:08):
Yeah, well there's all the Onores. Go ahead, flip through those,
Jake and there So who are these guys here? These
are the Moores.

Speaker 2 (53:13):
Yes, that's Frank Moore right there.

Speaker 3 (53:14):
Graduate graduate school here, late nineties now is way up.
The ORG chart might run the whole thing. I haven't
confirmed that yet at CIA per the CIA.

Speaker 1 (53:25):
What department is he in? Is he in like movies?
Is he in?

Speaker 3 (53:27):
Lessness doesn't count oh County Okay, but he's not liked.
He and Chadd they're fired up.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
By the way, You've got a correction here. We talked
about the two Gomarts side by side in Flatwoods. Texter
came in and said, the Gomart on the right at
Flatwoods is their truck stop.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
It is.

Speaker 1 (53:47):
Oh yeah, we knew that's right. We knew that.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
But you can still go in there if you want.

Speaker 1 (53:51):
Well, yeah, they don't they won't.

Speaker 2 (53:52):
Yeah, they don't.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
They don't check, ID see if you're driving semi in there. So,
but He's right is the truck stop, but you.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
Can get in.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
I'm sorry, sir, you're not driving a truck.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
Sometimes the other one is so busy. I mean, the
other one gets busy.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
I pulled in there earlier. There's summer.

Speaker 3 (54:05):
Every sparking spot taken, every pump taken. Sometimes you got
to go to the right there and get in their skin,
get in, get out.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
Yeah you can. It's it's actually it's it's a cheat
code because if you're full in the first one, the
semis are getting their gad they're fuel. They get fuel.
They're getting theirs in their own separate are you can
you can kind of come circle back around and you
got axit.

Speaker 2 (54:26):
Go in and get your get your recess.

Speaker 1 (54:28):
It's a cheat code, and get your recess.

Speaker 2 (54:29):
And you're drinking, you're out. Why do we keep saying
right or left because it depends on which way you're
going if you're pulling.

Speaker 3 (54:36):
So if you're pulling into the go mark on your
right or the one on the left, it's not off
the interstate or which way you're coming. Don't complicate it.

Speaker 1 (54:44):
And you don't have to yeah right, and if you
go to the truck stop, if you go to the
truck stop one like you don't have to pretend and
like walk up to the cash here and go, Yeah,
got the rig out there and just take these two
reces here. You don't have to play, just they'll let
right side. Guy.

Speaker 3 (55:01):
No you're not, No, you are not. You go to
the main the main building right in front of you.

Speaker 2 (55:06):
I've been with you.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
Are you struggling with this? Hi? Gosh? Sometimes I just
wonder if we need to get you some medicine. I mean,
why is that a struggle? You don't go to the
one on the right when we.

Speaker 2 (55:21):
Confident you've been to the one on the right.

Speaker 3 (55:24):
Ever, because we've been with you multiple times, you go to.

Speaker 2 (55:28):
The main one right straight ahead. You've not been to
the one on the right.

Speaker 1 (55:33):
Tell you what we are going. You know what you
are gonna get. You're gonna get a leash and we're
gonna just gonna walk you around. Now.

Speaker 3 (55:39):
If we didn't have to leave for Ohio you today,
I drive you down to Flatwoods right now.

Speaker 1 (55:46):
If you're looking for a refreshing upgrade for your office,
Comac's Business System is West Virginia's answer, introducing the I
twelve water cooler, where sleek design meets cutting edge technology.
If you're a business owner, you can get to do
away with all the plastic bottles. Get your water right there.
One machine forty four pounds ice, eight and a half

(56:07):
pounds of additional storage hot water, cold water. Check it out.
They want you to be well hydrated if you're looking
for a super duper water machine for your business place. Also,
three guys given a salute to Lou Wendell. I guarantee
you that the state's leading pontoon boat dealer will have
pontoons in the Ohio River. Oh yeah, this weekend. Folks

(56:28):
will make a weekend of it. They've been doing it
for over forty years. Located in Saint Albans, and they
do sell avalon pontoon boats, which are the premiere boats
made one hundred percent here in the United States of America.
Also those G three John boats. You're getting a little
bit of a lot of good stuff going on in
the water ways right now as we head in toward

(56:50):
the fall season. So visit Lou Wendelmarinesales dot com. They
are the premier folks here in our state.

Speaker 3 (56:56):
Leaves are starting to change, yes, right, be nice out
there on that boat. Beautiful, a little cool to start
your day, sun coming down. Fallboating underrated, as we often say, often.

Speaker 1 (57:08):
Okay, I think I got off track here, but anyway,
good morning, three guys. This is Nate from Virginia Beach.
I've got a very easy solution to the fake injury situation.
They should change it so instead of requiring players to
come out for one they have to come out for
ten plays, or the rest of the series, or the
rest of the quarter, or to find time like a
two minute penalty box and hockey. I believe this would

(57:30):
stop the fake injuries quickly. Love the show. PS. I
did not go to West Virginia. I don't own land
in West Virginia. I'm not a P one rated listener,
but my West Virginia connection as I was turned on
to WVU by a college roommate, Zop from Elkins, West Virginia.
Keep up the great work. Sometimes that's a stop.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
I have spread the word.

Speaker 1 (57:50):
Like my son when he went to school, he brought
a bunch of kids that didn't know anything about WVU
and now they're like huge mountaineer fans. Weren't raised on it.

Speaker 2 (58:01):
It's whether it's the game or the state or whatever,
or the university. What do people always say, if we
can get you here, right, if we can get you here.

Speaker 1 (58:12):
Yeah, Texter jd from the southern coal fields. Who's on
your list of top five good hyaenas from West Virginia
defenses of the past. Pac Man Jones has to be
on there right, Yes, Oh, there's no question that pac
Man is definitely in the den as one of the
all time great hyaenas.

Speaker 3 (58:32):
He has to be the hyena leader. Yeah, that's a
that's a great one there.

Speaker 1 (58:36):
Hey, three guys, please keep the hyaena thing.

Speaker 3 (58:38):
About him though, a lot of times when the lion
then comes out, those hyaenas start to back away. Pac
Man wouldn't back away there, He'd go right out the lion. No,
it's a little different breed of hyena there. Yeah, he'd attack.

Speaker 1 (58:49):
Yeah, Hey, three guys, please keep the hyaena references going.
I absolutely love Tony's impression of those god forsaken creatures.
Machine gunned them all down. Got quite a laugh out
of me. Dave from Cleveland, also known as America's North Coast,
And I was over there at practice yesterday. I was
watching defense and I kind of continue down with it.

(59:11):
So if the defensive back, if they're the hyenas, so
I'm going like, okay, let's go Animal Kingdom here. The
down linemen are the pacaderms right right, that's a down lineman.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (59:27):
On demand.

Speaker 2 (59:28):
It was pretty so.

Speaker 1 (59:30):
Those those big guys are it's good. And then your ends,
your Russian ends Jaguars, right, jaguars, And then Mafossa's are
your linebackers. Those are the lions. They're just kind of
like this, right. They got that big old, big old
head just like here. Yeah, bring it up here and
we'll eat you. I think that's the remaining of it.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
What are those defensive backs sound like when they start talking?

Speaker 1 (59:58):
Next one comes in referencing Alaskan hyenas. I flew into Juno,
Alaska over the Labor Day weekend to meet my son
who was flying over from Fairbanks. Given that there could
indeed be a western threat of hyenas to the local
Morgantown area. I did a land look at these hop
I did a land and sea and air expedition of
the Juno ice Field, my goodness, and the ton Gas

(01:00:21):
National Forest. I am happy to report to you no
current hyenas indicated from your western flank. Signed by W. E. Heasley,
nineteen seventy nine, graduate of the state's Landgren Institution, some
great shots. So happy he went in there to check
for hyenas in Alaska and he says, good to go.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Awesome, that's increasing great shots. That's unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Hey, Jake, will you go back to the first picture
of the planes in the water there, Like, I've never
done one of those landings like that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Was lou Wendell planes.

Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
No, they sell a pontoons. So if you were to
keep going to the left of that shot, there's lou
Wendel pontoons on their options like that. Yeah, lou Wendell
has not gone in the and in into just the
boats for right now.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Yeah, Hey, Tony, here's something. Hyenas have a higher kill
rate success in kill rate than lions. Then lions are
more scavengers than hyenas. Hyenas kill sixty six to ninety
percent of what they eat, so they're more about tracking

(01:01:30):
and killing than they are scavenged.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Let me ask you this, Yeah this, I do would
love to know this, Okay, Like, what's the kill rate
of lions against hyenas. Let me check. I'd love to know. Like,
I'm gonna be so bummed out if you don't come
back with a heavy percentage to go like Oh yeah,
lions are constantly killing high.

Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
That's got to be said. That's that's a Hall of
Fame win percentage.

Speaker 1 (01:01:50):
I would think you would hope. I mean you would
hope last one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
What'd you say about hyenas?

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
What about them?

Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
When you flip flop?

Speaker 3 (01:01:59):
You you like when they're if they're attacking something you
want attacked. You're on board with the hyenas. Yeah, if
they're going out the other side. Do you want the
hyenas to get machine gun?

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Yeah? You know I've talked about this before. Those bores
in Texas that rip up all that land. I love
when they go up there to them helicopters, at those
machine guns and just mow those pigs.

Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
You watch that on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
They just roll around on the ground. You watch that
on YouTube. Love it. And we put the night vision
goggles on and those are the best. Love that situation.
Saw the sign at Buffalo Wild Wings. Over there at
the Suncrest Town Center, there's a sign out front now
that reads three guys l I V here. So the

(01:02:50):
three of you living together could make for a successful
reality show. But if anyone needs housing, wouldn't it be
homeless day? So there is a sign in front of
the Buffalo Wild wind It says three guys live here,
but you could take it as three guys live here
and we're not going to live there but a week

(01:03:11):
from Thursday, which would that date be, That would be thirteen,
so it would be twelve eleven eleven, on September eleventh,
we're doing another live show from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
And I knew it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I knew because I know what he's about to say. Yeah,
and it's hard to not say what he's about to
say because if that happens, it'll be awesome.

Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
But he should say it.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Yet, Actually, I wasn't even say that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Now he's going to No, I'm.

Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
Actually not going to say that. I was going to
say this in all seriousness. I've talked to a bunch
of people since we did our first one, and you
need to get there early, not as early as not
as early as the Ohio University game. But I'm just

(01:04:06):
telling you, he's right here.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
There's a lot he's right on this, Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
So what's happened is obviously Rich Rodriguez's talk show weekly
is Mondays now and last year it was Thursdays, and
so people coming in for the weekend would make Thursday's
Coaches Show their first event of the weekend. Well, now
the Coaches Show goes Monday, which is fine, but like Thursday's,

(01:04:32):
people are looking things to do, and a bunch of
people have come to me over the last several days
and go like, hey, you like what's third like where
you And I said, Thursdays Buffalo Wild Wings. We're going
to do a live show and we're going to have
another hot wing Blazing Wing cook Challenge, and there's a

(01:04:53):
potential that we might have an unbelievable contestant for that.
And I'll leave it at that because I don't like
to overpromise. Yeah, of course, I don't like to report
things before.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
Hopefully our champion returns.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Champion will try to defend and the clock will be
very important.

Speaker 3 (01:05:08):
So this will be interesting on this one. Do we
have more than one tables worth? Like what if we
have more than four or five contestants? Do you just
have more chairs or do we do a second flight?

Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
No, we'll do it all at once. We'll do just multiple,
We'll just multiple.

Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
I'm worried about wing challenge.

Speaker 2 (01:05:26):
Former staff guy worried about staffing. How are you going
to do? Is get some extra chairs.

Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
So that's that's next Thursday. But hey, forget about pitt
for now and that whole pit weekend, which will be
an absolute circus because that pit game doesn't mean anything
at all, unless well it don means something. It does,
but it means game day is not coming. If you lose, yup, well,
you don't know if they're coming. If they win, I
say they are. I reported that first.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Don't handle your business. Don't handle your business.

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
You gotta handle your wins up, run right at them.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
When lions and hyena's face off, typically not much happen.
They sort of face off with each other, but there
are instances where male lions will take on a female hyaena,
an injured hyaena, or a young one. Other instances where
if there's a bunch of hyenas and an injured lion,
and the hyenas could take over. So it's kind kind of
even almost like the West Virginia High University football game

(01:06:18):
almost even there. You probably slight edge to the lions there, but.

Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
You would think that you would think hyenas should have
like no shot whatsoever against the lion.

Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
Well, if there's if there's ten or twenty, who knows
what a source is here. Just yeah, yeah, he's doing
this on the fly.

Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
You don't even know which go March. You don't even
know what go March you're going into. I'm not listening to.

Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
After the show, I want to ask you about that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
See he's he didn't believe us.

Speaker 2 (01:06:47):
All right, we've been with you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
When you go in the other one, you've not been
to the right unless you've been by yourself and gotten lost.

Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
In end of day, we talk about Somerville.

Speaker 3 (01:06:55):
Now, no, nor are we talking about Elk.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
You're talking about flat woods. Yes, yeah, oh okay, I
know what we mean.

Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Then three guys brought to us by Gomart.

Speaker 2 (01:07:06):
Do you think we were talking Somemmersville. You're talking about Somersville.

Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
There aren't two. There aren't two, and there aren't two
next to each other in Summersville.

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
There's just the one.

Speaker 3 (01:07:15):
