Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now there is now a million reasons to hit the
road and explore the Northern Territory this dry season. One
million dollars is up for grabs for travelers who go
on a road trip between May and September. The Caravan
Industry Association is stumping up the funds and general manager
of Marketing and Communications, Kilan Howard, joins me on the

(00:22):
line to tell us a little bit more about this
Good morning to.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
You, Kilan, good morning. How are you today?

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Yeah, really good, Thanks so much for your time.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Now tell us a little bit more about this idea
and this million dollar road trip.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Okay, So what we're doing, we're encouraging people in the
Southern States and territories themselves to take a road trip,
go out and those boocket this items and experiences the
nt to God, do them. And if you do that
for each time for accommodation I experience, you get an
opportunity to enter the draw for a chance to win

(01:02):
a million dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
Look, it sounds like a great idea.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Go and have a holiday, get out and about on
the roads and go in the drawer to win a
million bucks.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
How come you decided to launch this campaign?

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Well, we're thinking the territory is an awesome place to go.
And in Australia there's over eight hundred and forty thousand
registered caravans and motor homes and there's a lot of
competition for tourism and off our shore and we just
wanted to remind everybody as the season terms called down south,
there's a beautiful climate up here, fantastic experiences and there's

(01:37):
things in the order and territory to do that are
the end of the world. So Australians should come up here,
get a little bit warmer and enjoy their tourism and
spend the few nights up here.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
So did I need to spend a certain amount of
money to fill in an entry form or who exactly
is eligible?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
So as long as the participating business and that's what
the Red Center top end as part of tourism, NT
are a caravan holiday park depending on the experience. If
the experience is very affordable, if you're just staying a
night in the caravan park, you just keep you received,
filling your details and you're in. So I'm sure there's
very affordable options, and I'm sure there's very luxurious options.

(02:19):
But those people who enjoy those experiences have equal opportunity
to enter.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
So is it I mean, is it just about trying
to bolster interstate tourism through the drive market and trying
to get them to come to the Northern Territory. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Look, I think Northern Territory is a fantastic destination and
if you head to the Northern Territory, the people who
travel sprinkled gold and dust all the way to get here.
You can't get to the Northern Territory without supporting regional
parts of New South Wales, South Australia, our friends in
WA and Queensland. So we think let's have the end

(02:54):
in mind and if people come up, they come here,
great for the NPT and tourism in general wins.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
So what kind of benefits are you expecting that this
could potentially inject into the Northern Territory when it comes
to the economy, Well.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
We have run something similar just in the caravan holiday
pass industry before and we had over eighty thousand people
enter and outdoors and we talked to them. Thirty percent
to them actually spent more money, they spent more nights
and they got an active in more activities. So what
we see is this is a great conversation starter. It

(03:30):
gets them focused on it and it may bring a
certain sense of urgency. So I believe I sat on
the press release Caraveners and Campbells and they come to
the NTEE. It's like eight hundred and forty million to
the economy and we just want to ensure that continues
and we want to see people using the Caravens as
well as the cabin Industry Association Keeland.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
People are messaging through asking where is the money coming
from for a million bucks?

Speaker 2 (03:57):
So just for the industry, it is a chance to win.
So it's some person will have a chance to win
it and we hope they don't win it and worst
case scenario that they will at worst walk away with
ten thousand dollars. So as a tourism body ourselves that
are not for profit, we rely on the support of
people and in this particular one, there's a really good

(04:18):
chance that someone could win it, and even if they don't,
we have one of those up prizes plus ten thousand
dollars in cash at a minimum for that person.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
So what do you have to do to win the
big million?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
So to be in it, you just need to go
to one of the participating tourism businesses or attractions. Enjoy
your day out, have some good memories, and then ensure
when you're at that business there will be cure code.
Some of them will have digital receipts with a link
in it and you just pop your details in and
then you're in with the chance.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Well, so you said that, look there's a chance to
win the million bucks.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
So he it is. It definitely going to go off.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
It won't definably go off. How we have to work
it to make it affordable. So it's one and two
hundred and fifty chance to win, which if you follow
the last three, I'll go to the casino. That's a
really good chance.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Okay, when is the winner going to be announced?

Speaker 2 (05:17):
So we're trying to run this over the next few
months because your season's only staffing, so they will be
a winner announced in October.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Well, I tell you, it would be amazing to win
that money. It does sound as though, you know, it
does sound as though it's you know, it's not a
guarantee that it's going to go off, but hopefully it
does to one lucky person, and let's hope that they
are from the Northern Territory Caravan Industry Association of Australia
General Manager of Marketing and Communications, Keeland Hartt, really appreciate

(05:47):
your time this morning.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Thanks for having a chat with us.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
