Speaker 1 (00:00):
Joining us on the line right now is Coda Patel,
who is the colp's candidate. Good morning, Coda.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Good morning Katie, and good morning to old listeners.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Coda. We've got seven minutes and a series of questions.
Are you ready to get started?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yes, I'm ready, Katy.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Coda. Why did you decide to put your hand up
to run for the state of Casarina, Katie.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
As you know, I've traveled around the world since two
thousand and two. I had finished my Bachelor of Arts
in hotel management on beautiful island called Cyprus and then
moved to Melbourne in two thousand and eight. In Darwin,
we moved to with my wife in twenty twelve, where

(00:45):
I found that Darwin was very relaxed place to leave
our work and invest We decided to settle with my
family permanently here to enjoy rest of our life with
the best lifestyle. I believe yeap my bod children were
born here in Northern Territory. In twenty nineteen, I took

(01:05):
a no leap of faith and venture into entrepreneurship, acquiring
ownership of donating at casual Ina Shopping Center. I have
witnessed under current labor government our economic economy was going
backwards and crime is getting out of control at social

(01:26):
behavior is very bad at Consunior shopping center. This is
all because of the poor decision making by current labor
government where they have destroyed our lifestyle, you know, and
mental stability. When I came to Darwin, CLP government was
in power, and I never seen this mass that current

(01:48):
government has met and has created to our lifestyle. So
I believe CLP party only party in Northern Territory who
can deliver and restore our stell back to normal. So
I called myself enough is enough, and I decided to
join and fight my lifestyle that I used to love

(02:10):
for the future. And I wanted to make sure that
it's all available for our children where they can study,
work and enjoy the same lifestyle we go and we enjoyed.
So I'm very proud to be part of the CLP
team where I can contribute my expertise to rebuild the economy.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
So Cutter, why do you think that you're the best
person for the role based on your previous experience, through
your work and through the community.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yes, So with my background in you know, in management
and business, I always work in hospitality industry and I
have a business at Scheduler shop in Center Center and
I think we all understand that all small business if
need a first parity is the safety and we all
work hard to grow with our economy as well. So

(03:09):
me and my wife have decided to open a business
and try to work and make our future here. And
I've been working hard with you know, all multiculture communities
in northn Serburg. I speak different languages as well. I
have a great community engagement that will help me to

(03:29):
represent my electorate and the knowledge of challenges that I'm
aware of in that area will prepare me to fight
with the CLP party kind of what do.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
You see as being the biggest issues in the electric.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Sokatty When I don'tknock my electorate and talk to a
small businesses around, I've found two main common issues that
have come along with at first is a youth crime
and antisue shall be at the scheduled our shopping center
as well as which is I have felt myself if
you remember my staff were attacked and we had a

(04:09):
chat about that one as well of the youth kids
kids through the eggs at my staff. I found also
there's a new business next door to me, and he's
always complaining and talking about the tap in his tore
that those little young kids coming in and walking in
and out with the free stuff and no one can
do anything. My elderly a customers also getting attacked and dropped,

(04:37):
you know at the shopping center. The class in the
shopping center centers are always mashed, you know, and the
people are talking about it. Yeah, Coose stores, you know,
the Cool Store and the little land they had to
do renovations to, you know, to stop this tape happen
like it's happening every day. So I believe said a

(04:58):
load of issues with the antisue shell behavior and crime.
It just become a part of our everyday routine life,
which is I think we need to stop this asthmech
we can. And another example, Friday's the longest trading hours
in Scheduler shopping center.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I remember back then we used to be busy until
almost thirty till late and we were sometime getting out
nine to nine pm, nine nine thirty pm. But now
where people are so scared to come for shopping after
five pm, so I'm started closing between six to seven now,
So my trading hours has dropped on the shopping shopping

(05:41):
hours which is nine to nine.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Coda. We've got just over a minute thirty left, but
I've still got a few questions to ask you. What
would you do to combat these issues at the shopping center?

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I believe I will support CLP class which is based
on time we build, economy and safety of our streets.
And I think we need more policies around that make
a lost more tougher and consequences around that where we

(06:14):
can have driving economy around that. I believe. So if
you fix those three issues that CLP is trying to target,
I think we will come along very well.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Toda, just under a minute to go. Do you support
the development of leaypoint.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
About the lead point? Yes. I support any development or
projects that will strike the right balance between environment and
economic growth.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Do you support the development of onshore gas?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yes. I think CLPS are only the party that will
always support gas and deliver it. I believe the gas
is very key component for I think of our growing economy,
Kenneth is very necessary to be work around that as well.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Coda. Fifteen seconds to go. Why should people vote for you?

Speaker 2 (07:10):
So in the territory there's a thousand people that are
living territory in I think yearly, and I want this
to stop. I want them to stay here and enjoy
the lifestyle that we used to enjoy. So with my
real word management experience and understanding of communities need, I
believe I will be committed addressing the vision of prime

(07:33):
economic decline and the raising cost of living CODA.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
We have unfortunately run out of time. We've got to
try and keep it as fair as possible. I really
appreciate you having a chat with us this morning. Thanks
so much for joining us on the show.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Thank you, Katie, Thank you
