Well, there is a lot happening around the Northern Territory
at the moment.

And if you have got kids, or if you've year eleven,
year twelve, our senior.

It can be a bit of a stressful time maybe
as well. And I'm really excited to say that joining

of the Essington Year twelve students in the studio. Now

Will get a bit of an update and m Tholey,
Good morning to you all. Morning.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Thank you so much for joining me in the studio
this morning. Now I might ask you first, Paniotti, how
are you feeling about heading into your final exams?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
You're in year twelve, aren't you?

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Year twelve. I've only got one exam, but I'm feeling
quite confident. Essington's really been just helping me out with
the studying exam preparation, so I'm going in pretty confident
going into that exam.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
So, now two of you in the studio this morning
are completing year twelve in.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
How many weeks?

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Two more weeks until our last exam and then your
graduations the day after the last one.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
But our last day is this Thursday.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
So oh, my last exam is actually this coming Monday?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Is coming Monday? Or are you like counting down the days?

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Are you feeling?

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Wait?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
Are you stressed or excited?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:38):
A bit of both, bit of a mixture, but excitement
at the same time.

Yeah, now two of you are doing you're actually in
year eleven. But the way that Essington works, you can
you can do your year twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
You can do year twelve exams. Is that right? Talk
me through it? How does it work?

Speaker 5 (01:55):
So in year ten we got the opportunity to complete
year eleven subjects and then that just lets us do
up to three year twelve subjects in year eleven. Yeah,
whence we finished those and we can that's not do
them for your twelve producers? Stress, it's very good.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
How good is that in terms of juggling your workload
over the next couple of years?

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Heaps, very lucky.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
Now remind me again how to pronounce your name correctly?
Because I want to make sure I get it right.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Through.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Like, was it quite a daunting sort of thing for
you though, determining you know, whether you were going to
take on the additional exams in grade eleven or did you?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Was it a bit of a no brainer for me?

Speaker 5 (02:39):
I think it was a bit of a no brain.
It makes your tip so much more fun. Yes, that's
very good.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
And now you're also doing your year twelve exams in
grade eleven. Was it the same situation for you where
you were feeling like this is the right step for me?

Speaker 6 (02:55):
Pretty much?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I was a bit nervous.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
I was like, what if I'll be better prepared than
your twelve? But I think the benefits outweigh the rest.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Good on you, guys, I think that's incredible.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Lightly, like, I love that, and I love that it's
there's that flexibility as well, because it can sometimes make
it easier depending on what your extracurricular activities might be
or the other things going on in your life now
in terms of the year twelve students that are actually
going to be completing your exams finishing school, how are
you feeling when you're kind of on the cusp of

(03:27):
you've been going to school every day for like the
last twelve years. How are you feeling about the big
stamp panda and the changes in front of you?

Speaker 4 (03:37):
Oh, well, it's very daunting, but haven't really processed the
fact that it's all going to completely change in about
three weeks. But we've been doing all the university application
stuff like that, so we have been already taking those
steps towards next year for most of us. So yeah,
we all have like a kind of set plan for
next year. But yeah, still just trying to focus in
there now for the exams coming up.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
And it's like it feels like such a big time
and it is such a big time, but you've still
got so many opportunities in front of you, even if
your pathway maybe changes a tiny bit.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Do you feel like that?

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Definitely? I think I'm prepared for whatever comes next, but
if it doesn't go my way, you just take it
as it goes. I'm looking forward to, you know, where
I go next inside for doing what I want to
do next year, university wise, studying, moving all the new
exciting challenges that comes with graduating and going into real life.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, and I know that, you know, for the two
of you that are about to complete year twelve. This
is probably the most asked question you get. But do
you know what you want to do after year twelve?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I do.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
I want to do construction management next year, so that's
about a four year course'll be the honors that is included.
So I've applied down south in Melbourne and Adelaide. Hopefully
I'll get into Melbourne at r MIT, but wherever it goes.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
See where you end up, Charlotte. What about you?

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Well, I've found it interested in math and economics in
you're eleven and twelve, so I'm doing actuarial studies next year.
I got an early entry, but there's.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
A really mean like what kind of job does that
mean for you down the track?

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Potentially?

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Well, actuaries when we work in super annuation, a lot
of statistical maths and I'm a very interesting that kind
of stuff and applying it to help people analyze risk
and also sorts of mathematical applications.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
You pack of legends. This is so cool.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
What about you, two year eleven students? Do you know
what's next after year twelve or is it a bit
too early still?

Speaker 4 (05:32):
For me?

Speaker 6 (05:32):
I'm really interested in medicine specifically. I think I want
to do surgery. Yeah, we'll see. I'm hoping to get
into my nowtion and do a quicker university length.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Yes, we need homegrowing doctors in the Northern Territory, so
that sounds like a great thing to do.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
What do you reckon, I'm not I'm not fully decided yet.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Yeah, something to do with engineering. I find physicsite cool.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Good on you guys. I just think it's it's so exciting.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
It's such an exciting time of your life, you know,
and I know it can be daunting, but it's so exciting,
you know, the years that are about to come. I
feel like you really start living, you know, after school,
and school feels like such a big part.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Of your universe, and it is.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
But you've got so many opportunities in front of you,
which is such a wonderful thing. Now you've got mister
Hog in the studio as well. He's been trying to
avoid getting on the radio, but.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Come on over, mister Hog.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Is it a pretty exciting time for the school at
this time of the year, when you have got all
of these wonderful students that are you know, that are
set to graduate, it's.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
Really really exciting. They put so much effort into their
work in their studies and they get the results. The
teachers work really really hard with the students at Essington,
and the students really really get the results they're looking for,
so really exciting times. We support the students as much
as we can with our well being and I think
that that helps out with reducing the anxiety of the students.

(06:58):
It comes through the exams.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Any celebrations planned, just waiting to see what happens at
the end. Do you have like a nice big assembly
or do you have like your graduation things like that
or some of that already happened.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, so well this Thursday we have our assembly, the
year twelve assembly too. You know, it's like the graduation,
but we get out our awards I believe, or our
certificates whatever, and then we have on the sixteenth of
November we have our actual graduation and then that's when
you know, we have our celebration.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Duff. Good on you guys.
