Today's Guest: Executive Deputy Athletic Director and COO at Yale -Ann-Marie Guglieri
Our guest journey in collegiate athletics is truly impressive, starting with her education at Syracuse University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in 2004 and was a three-year starter on the field hockey team. In 2006, she went on to earn her master’s degree in education with a concentration in athletic administration from Springfield College. During her time there, she also served as an assistant coach for the field hockey team, helping lead them to two conference championships.
This women’s career in athletics took off at Colgate University, where she spent ten years in various roles, ultimately serving as Chief of Staff and Senior Associate Director of Athletics. At Colgate, she oversaw the construction of over $43 million in capital projects, including a state-of-the-art ice hockey arena and a new soccer and lacrosse complex. Her leadership extended across all internal operations of the department, and she served as sport supervisor for a wide range of teams, including football, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball.
In 2018, she joined the Yale Athletics Department, where she was promoted to Executive Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer just four years later. In her current role, she leads the organization and workflow strategy for all areas of the department, from finance and human resources to capital projects and facilities. She also supervises football, women’s basketball, heavyweight crew, and softball. She is an integral part of the senior staff, working closely with her team to set and meet departmental objectives.
Highly involved in national athletics leadership. She chaired the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Committee in 2013 and 2014, playing a significant role in shaping the landscape of the sport at the collegiate level. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to collegiate athletics, she received the Nell Jackson Administrator of the Year Award in 2014 from Women Leaders in College Sports. She’s also been a sought-after speaker, presenting at national conventions like NACDA and Women Leaders in College Sports.
Her dedication to excellence in athletics has also been recognized by her alma mater. In 2024, she was honored as a LetterWinner of Distinction—one of the highest honors given to former student-athletes.
