Guest Bio(s):
Reginald "RJ" Jackson II, born on December 7th, 2010, faces the challenges of Netherton Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder, with remarkable resilience. Despite spending much of his early life in hospitals battling conditions like ichthyosis, allergies, and heat/cold intolerance, RJ remains a happy, caring, and socially engaged individual. His body's inability to form an outer layer of skin requires frequent IVIG treatments, making him susceptible to infections and necessitating meticulous hygiene practices.
RJ, now 13 and in 7th grade, has been undergoing treatments for eight years, striving to live as "normal" a life as possible. Despite limitations in sports due to heat intolerance, he enthusiastically embraces activities like basketball and Fortnite. Despite facing disappointment in not making his middle school basketball team, RJ's positive spirit shines through as he celebrates his friend's success. While excelling academically and forming close bonds with friends, he also confronts challenges, such as bullying, with admirable strength. As the fourth of five siblings, RJ is part of a tight-knit family, showcasing both physical and emotional resilience in his extraordinary journey.
