(00:00):

one and only Dank Demas. Howare you, girl? I'm well happy
to have you in studio. Thankyou. I'm so excited that you're here.
You've been here for a few days. By the way, we're in
the Atlanta studio and you haven't beento any other restaurants. What's up with
that? I don't know, LikeI'll be wanted something good, something that

(00:22):
I can't get back home, andI can't never find nothing. Okay,
it's okay. We'll get you alittle list, so please do. We'll
make sure you're set and good togo. And talking about set, you've
been on a set. You werefilming this TV show that's coming up Dev's
house with a media mogul. You'reon the show. But tell me about
the show from your perspective. Whatis the show about? What can people
expect and expect from you? Specifically? The show is like really like a

(00:47):
sisterhood, So me and the girlscame together and you know, like joined
us one and built like a bond, a sisterhood and stuff like that.
It is a competition show. ButI won't say like it's every man for
themself, you know, but itis a competition show. I'm super excited
to be on there. From me, y'all can expect me to be very

(01:12):
brave because I am showing y'all whodank is, you know, like I'm
giving y'all the struggles I'm giving y'allto I'm just putting it all out there.
So get ready, just get ready, and we can't wait for it.
So this show just for people whodo not really know. It is
produced and created by Deb Anthony. She's a music mogul. It's the first

(01:34):
music competition reality series filmed in andaround New York. So we are super
excited to see the different cultures fromthat area. BA also from all around
the world because you're from Detroit. So it's gonna be a really exciting show.
So talk to me more about beingfrom Detroit, how that has had
an influence on the type of musicyou make, your sound and so forth.
Being from Detroit. The you know, it's motowne you know, this

(02:00):
city of you know, the greats, you know. So I've always been
inspired. I've always been intrigued withlike Motown, you know, growing up
watching like the Little Temptatious movies andstuff like that, Diana Ross and you
know, so on. But Detroitnow, like the music scene is like
kind of like up tempo but withme, like, I love all music.

(02:21):
So I'm gonna give you a littlebit of New York, I'm gonna
give you a little bit of Lanta, a little bit Memphis in Detroit,
and I'm gonna put it as one, you know. But yeah, we're
the city of the greats. Soyeah, that's exciting. Okay, let's
talk more about your music. Whydid you decide to really pursue music seriously
and what was that moment for youwhere you knew that you would be good

(02:43):
enough to really just climb the ranks. So funny story. I was in
college and I was going to schoolfor law and social thought because I wanted
to be a lawyer or judge. So I was in school for law and
social thought. My dad died intwenty sixteen. But my dad, he
was a rapper, you know,he was an up and coming Detroit artist
and we always kept a little studioin the house or whatever. So that's

(03:07):
what got me into music. Butwhen I was in college, I wasn't
really taking it serious. But whenmy dad died, I started taking it
serious. I wanted to walk inhis footsteps and finish where he left off
at. And eight years later,I'm here and it's working for me.
I feel like I've grown within likemy writing and stuff, and yes,
working for me. But the momentI knew that this was for me was

(03:30):
after my dad died. So yeah, that's beautiful. I know he's really
proud of you and all the workthat you have been doing and what you
are doing. And let's talk aboutit. You mentioned that your writing has
gotten better. You also have putout there you're a ghost writer. Yes,
can we ask, like, whoare some of the artists I'm gonna
I'm not gonna say who I've wrotefor, but I have wrote for some

(03:50):
people, and I actually enjoy it, Like I actually like, I enjoy
putting myself in somebody else's shoes, you know, becoming somebody else for a
dope as record, you know. But I have wrote for a few people,
and I plan on writing for morepeople and writing for some elites.
Actually, yeah, I enjoyed writingfor other people. But when I say

(04:14):
my writing, hands got better, because when I first started, like listening
to the music that I put out. When I first started, I'd be
like, damn, who the fuckis that? But listening to it's and
I was like, damn, I'ma goat for real, you know.
So, and I feel like alot of distance. That happens with a
lot of people. You know, you start somewhere and you grow, so
yeah, and your audience grows withyou. So let's talk about them the
audience, Like what do you feellike was the record or the song that

(04:38):
really took you to the next levelfor that recognition that the audience really or
just really connects with. I mean, I got a lot of music,
but I feel like I did Idid a cipher and I hopped on it
bit well, I hopped on therelike I'm ned bitch, it ain't no
catching me. It was nineteen othergirls, and I hopped on there like

(05:00):
I'm not you know, I'm thislittle I'm this calm, sweet girl.
But it's like when I rap,it's just like, oh okay, nobody
fuck with me. So that thatright there made people, you know,
like, oh okay, yeah, dank it is she that once? Yeah
she's not playing with nobody. Yeah, I love it. I love it
and the music is good. Welove it, and of course the fans

(05:21):
are really just showing you the recognitionand giving your flowers. So that's fantastic.
Let's go back to the show fora second, because it is a
music competition show. What can peopleexpect from the show that they haven't seen
with you or in your music thatthey can see on the show? Y'all

(05:42):
can expect like my I'm trying totell y'all without you know, it's okay,
we'll take a spoiler or two.Or has your style changed or it
hasn't changed, But y'all, y'allcan see the more vulnerable side of me,
you know, because I'm so hardcoreand I have like I got a

(06:08):
wall in front of me, youknow. I kind of let that down
a little bit, you know, because I really want my people to see
and get to know me and howhard it is being a I can't even
say plus size. I'm not plussized being an obs rapper, so I
want people to see that. Soyeah, that's it. Just expect that,
you know, And what can youtalk about that? Because you are

(06:29):
a woman who is really embracing yourbody, embracing your music and really an
inspiration to so many. How doyou feel like that really helps a lot
of other people out there and pursuingwhatever dreams they have. I feel like
a lot of people need to seesomebody else do it first, you know,
And I carry that on me andI carry that on my shoulders because

(06:50):
it's a lot of people in sittingin a house with all these capabilities and
talents and you know, just sittingin the house because they scared to do
it or they're scared to go outside. So, like I said, I
feel like they got to see somebodyelse do it first, and that's me.
So I carry the people that can'tdo what I do on my back

(07:11):
so that they're like, Okay,if she doing it, I can do
it. Yes. So yeah, yeah, we have to of course love
ourselves, loves our body, andjust really pursue our dreams no matter what
it is. But let's talk aboutthe show for a quick second again.
So I know you can't give anyspoilers, but can we talk about who
you really gravitated to? I knowyou said it's a sisterhood, but any
favorites out the bunch or any collaborationsyou would like to do with any of

(07:34):
the ladies or how does that go. I don't have no favorites, okay,
but what I can say out oflet me see, out of all
the girls that was casted, it'slike five or six that I really love

(07:56):
my SLISters. Like, yeah, that's that's all I'm gonna say. Okay,
you know, I'm not gonna sayno names, but y'all gonna see.
But it's like, out of allthe girls that I picked, it's
like six, five of them thatI love those my sisters. And would
you collaborate with them in the futureof course? Okay, of course anytime
any day. I'm excited. We'redefinitely excited. So let's talk about more
of your music. Right. Youput out some great hits in the past,

(08:20):
but you're also working on some newstuff. Tell us more about it.
What can we expect so I cansing? So the new music that
I've been working on is like singing, like giving y'all like a hint of
like my range and what I cando vocally. Yeah, I'm throwing in
a little bit of rapping in it, but it's I'm singing more. But

(08:46):
yeah, I mean more about whatyou're singing about if you can is it
love? Is it the girls? Is it family? Is it the grind?
It's love? You know, I'msinging about love and you know,
you know, girl empowerment stuff likethat. But yeah, I'm gonna ask,
do we have a person in themix that we're singing about specifically?
Okay, just curious past experiences iswhat we're talking about. Yeah, okay,

(09:09):
yep, that's exciting. That's exciting. Well, anything else you want
to leave with the people before weget on out of here, it's big.
Thanks for vigf and reason. Yeah, and how can people follow you
all my social media's Dank the Malls, d A n K, D E
M O S S. And youhave to tune in for the show.
It is out now with on weTV. Definitely a great show. We

(09:33):
cannot wait to see more from youand we wish you all the best.
Thank you once again. Alexandri Kaimoniin the studio with Dank Demas
