Welcome to Nutriessential wellness series. We interview our experts to discuss ongoing health challenges people face. We shed light on how they are managing it, what are the gaps and how to deal with them in the correct manner. Today we picked one of the biggest talks among Americans and it’s “Stress”.
In today’s always-on culture, stress has become a silent epidemic. Let’s see what Dr Aditi says on this demanding topic!
Nutriessential team: Stress, stress and stress everywhere! What do recent stats say?
Dr Aditi: I read current trend reports and they clearly pinpoint increasing burnout and stress among young generations also. In fact, it's becoming common in Gen Z as well.
Nutriessential team: There is rising workplace stress. What would you suggest?
Dr Aditi: Stress management is more necessary than before. It’s not about the presence of stress in your life but it’s about the tools you have to enjoy a stress-free life.
Nutriessential team: Can you elaborate?
Dr Aditi: Sure!. I would say stop worrying about workplace stress. It’s time to work on communication gaps, set realistic expectations and enjoy the process of your work. Stress is a common element of the digital era. We are surrounded by digitisation, social media and so much, stress will be there but if you manage it the right way you can create a better work-life balance.
Nutriessential team: What people are doing right now for stress management?
Dr Aditi: Well they already know about it and they are working on it. They are implementing mindfulness, journaling, using health apps, joining personalised yoga sessions, supplements, etc.
Nutriessential team: Do these options work?
Dr Aditi: Definitely! These are effective and research has proven it. Personalised health customisation and experience is far more strong than ever today.
Nutriessential team: Supplements are on rise for stress and sleep. Is there any particular ingredient gaining traction?
Dr Aditi: Yes, you are right. Many reports surfaced this year and there is particularly increased demand for ashwagandha supplements.
Nutriessential team: Is there any connection between stress and sleep? What’s role of ashwagandha here?
Dr Aditi:Yes there is a connection and they are directly proportional to each other. Those who sleep less are more stressed, and vice versa. People say they want to sleep more but stress doesn't allow them to sleep longer so if you are choosing options like ashwagandha then it's trending because it works. You will come across many studies where the role of ashwagandha in balancing cortisol levels, reducing stress and promoting relaxation is proven.
Nutriessential team: What are the popular choices for selecting ashwagandha supplements?
Dr Aditi: Capsule forms are popular but gummies and powder forms are emerging. We have choices now for people of all ages and generations. You will find patented forms of ashwagandha and presence of other complementary ingredients as well like L-Theanine, saffron, etc in cortisol balancing supplements.
Nutriessential team: How safe are these ashwagandha supplements?
Dr Aditi: High-quality brands focus on formulating evidence-based supplements where they follow the dosage mentioned in research studies. Practitioners also recommend high-quality supplements so follow what your doctor says.
Nutriessential team: Thank you for such comprehensive information. What message would you like to give to our audience?
Dr Aditi: Don’t focus on “ I am stressed” but on “ What can I do to prevent the stress?” Let’s support preventive healthcare strategies.
