It’s the first in our alien double feature that totally omits that iconic 1979 Ridley Scott film! Today we instead review the equally iconic 1982 John Carpenter film The Thing. We get to the bottom of Kurt Russell’s beard, Wilford Brimley’s diabetes, and Donald Moffat’s eyebrows, with some mention about plot, cinematography, and all that other stuff. But those eyebrows are seriously distracting, you know.

Coming at you like a roundhouse kick to the groin, it’s our review of Rowdy Herrington’s 1989 cult classic Road House! The second in our barroom double feature, this one stars Patrick Swayze as a bouncer/cooler who’s able to win the affections of a doctor played by Kelly Lynch. This movie features lots of body oil, lots of fist fights, and lots of shots of men’s asses, so it’s a 10 out of 10 in Erin’s book.
Many have heard of it, few have seen it, and fewer still have anything good to say about it. Today we kick off our barroom double feature with Roger Donaldson’s 1988 film Cocktail. How bad is it? Well, if you thought you hated Tom Cruise after that whole couch-jumping thing, wait until you see him reciting poetry while standing on a bar in New York. Yep, it’s that kind of a movie.
DB and Jared discuss the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys while Erin is away in Ireland chasing leprechauns and shamrocks.
