Serbian City Club had the pleasure of hosting Miriam Margolyes OBE, BAFTA-winning British actress, on Saturday, 5th November 2022.
During the discussion we reflected on Miriam’s incredible career, how her background shaped her, including where she finds inspiration and a belief in herself. We also discussed Miriam’s Serbian debut as Granny Vera in a contemporary thriller Next To You (Pored tebe), written and directed by Stevan Filipović, and her experience of making a movie on the phone.
We spoke about her experience as a documentarian, what fascinated her during filming, and how that process impacted her. Miriam was equally generous with her advice to aspiring actors and further explained the importance of getting the voice right when preparing for a role, and then proceeded to honour us to an impromptu acting masterclass!
