(00:22):
Hey there, thanks for joiningme on the podcast today.
It is Gemini season.
And what does that even mean?
Well, I have Kambria Davis ontoday as our guest and she is
Daybreak's resident astrologist.
She will tell us all things youneed to know about dipping your
feet into astrology and how it'sa language, not a belief system.
(00:45):
And I just love Kambria.
So I can't wait to introduce you toher and to learn from her with you.
Jen Banks (00:51):
I'm here with Kambria
today of the KAYA community.
How are you?
Kambria Davis (00:54):
I'm doing well.
How are you?
Jen Banks (00:57):
So good.
I have so been lookingforward to this interview.
I knew even when I was planning outmy podcast season that I was going to
have you on for letter K because KAYAcommunity and Kambria, not only because
you talk about astrology, but alsobecause more people need to know you.
They really
Kambria Davis (01:13):
do.
Oh, You really know howto get to a Leo's heart.
Jen Banks (01:19):
Well, I just feel like every
time I talk to you, it's a party and
it's just, I learned something new.
So yeah, I love it.
Kambria Davis (01:25):
Yes.
I love that.
Jen Banks (01:28):
Okay.
So tell my listeners how you got intoastrology and how that all came to be.
Kambria Davis (01:33):
Yeah.
So, I mean, I've heard about astrology.
I think we all have heard bitsand pieces in our lifetime.
Um, it was about, I'm going tojust try to remember the dates.
What, what year would it have been?
It would have been 2017.
So seven ish years ago.
Was really when I started getting intoit, I was going through what I would kind
(01:55):
of call like a total, it would have beenconsidered maybe a midlife crisis, but
it wasn't like my midlife and I just hadthis week where I was just felt like I was
dying and being reborn and I was cryingand just shedding like a decade worth
of stuff and my brother who, my olderbrother who lives in Los Angeles, He's
(02:16):
been into astrology long before I have.
So he would say stuffand I'm like, Oh, okay.
Like, but I never really landed.
And he, in that week period, wedon't, we're not, we're close, but
we don't talk often and he calledme and was just like, how are you?
And I was like, I am not good.
I am crying and I'm, I have noidea what's happening and I feel
(02:40):
like I'm going insane, but I, butthere's this weird sense that like,
I'm okay, but I can't stop crying.
It was so, it was themost unusual experience.
And looking back, I'm like, okay, well, I totally know what that was,
but while I was in the thick of it,it was frightening and very scary.
And you know, your brain startsto tell you all kinds of stories.
(03:00):
And he was like, well, I don't know.
He's like, okay, well, and then he justkind of started rattling off what was
happening in the cosmos at the time.
And back then it was, it was,I can't remember for this.
I'm pretty sure it was the solar eclipse, like back in 2017 ish area near August.
And, you know, our lunar eclipse, there was something, there was
some type of eclipse happening.
It was the lion's gate.
(03:21):
Cause my birthday is August 9thand eight, eight is a really
powerful day in the cosmos.
And so he just kind of waslike, here's what's happening.
And I just was like, whoa.
And then he was like, text me your birth time.
And if not get it from mom.
And I was like, okay.
(03:41):
And then over the next coupleof days, we just had a couple of
different types of conversations.
And he essentially kind of gaveme my first birth chart reading.
And, you know, people arelike, what is your brother?
And he knows these things, but it was so spot on.
So spot on and he was talking aboutwhat I was personally trans like
(04:02):
transiting at that time and Where I waslike I had been doing Kundalini yoga.
I'd been meditating I spent time with alot of time with my family and friends
and this like week of melt meltdownI guess you know and the astrology
reading was like the one thing thatI felt like I could breathe finally.
(04:24):
I was like, Oh, okay.
And from then on, it's just been kindof this slow, intuitive, as things
have come in, you know, back in 2017,I would have never been like, I'm
going to, you know, claim myself asthe Daybreaks resident astrologer.
(04:44):
And I'm going to be doing birth chartreadings and small group readings and.
Trying to teach this languageto so many people to, you know,
involve it in their lives.
I would have never thought that at thetime it was just so powerful for me.
Um, and so, yeah, it'sjust been an ongoing study.
And that's what I like to tell people isthat astrology is not a belief system.
(05:05):
And it's just a language.
And so I'm just studying this languageand have immersed myself in this language.
And I use that language as a tool.
For my life.
Jen Banks (05:15):
Wow.
That's so interesting to hear thestart with, at that point, were
you in the corporate world still?
Kambria Davis (05:22):
So I had just left.
So yeah, I worked as a district managerfor journeys for a decade and I had
just left six months prior to that.
And so that was the whole unraveling.
So I had given my noticein December of 2016.
Final day was like a weekor so before Christmas.
And yeah, I mean, I went from,Working, literally working
(05:47):
70 to 80 hours a week too.
And I hadn't had myreal estate license yet.
So then I was like, I carry two phones.
I worked all the time, you know?
And at that time, after I left,it went to pretty much silence.
I went to.
One phone, I was not answeringemails from 6 or 7 a.
m.
till 10 p.
(06:07):
m.
I was going to like school kind of,but I was like surrounded and totally
distracted 24 7 and other than sleeping.
To total silence.
And that is why six months later,a total shedding, you know?
Jen Banks (06:24):
Yes.
Wow.
So interesting how peopleget where they are.
So what do you feel like you've learnedabout yourself through astrology?
You said you're a Leo.
What does that mean to you?
Kambria Davis (06:36):
Yeah.
So my whole life, people be like,Oh, anytime I'd be like, I'm a Leo.
They're like, of course you are.
And it would be so annoying.
And now I'm that annoying person, right?
I'd be like, Oh, and peopleare like, what does that mean?
So, um, you know, it was just, youknow, I think we know ourselves or
we've, or, or actually I'll backtrack.
(06:57):
I feel like a lot of usmight not know ourselves.
Right.
And we've gone through life andpeople have been like, Oh, you're
shy or you're this, or you.
And then we've taken on those roles.
When we've taken on thosecharacteristics and titles.
And so now as I embrace a Leo, rightnow, as I fully understand what a Leo
(07:18):
is, what's interesting is if I'm evernot feeling myself, if I'm feeling
down or discouraged or insecure ordepressed or anxious, I can, our
sun sign is kind of our purpose.
Our sun sign is our light.
And so when I tap into that, the core ofLeo, you said it at the beginning, anytime
(07:39):
I talk to you, it's like fun and a party.
And that is the energy of Leo.
Leo is the inner child.
Leo is, Leo season is in the dead ofsummer, right in the heart of summer.
And what is everyone doing in the summer?
Partying and Boating and campingand you know, this, that, the other,
and that's the essence of Leo.
Leo's love, attention.
(08:00):
That's why when you're like,Oh, everyone needs to meet you.
And learning that about myself, thatthat's not, that's not me being,
you know, conceited or egotistical.
It's actually Leo's need attention.
That's how they thrive.
Right.
So, um, you know, it's, and it'sinteresting because your sun sign
(08:22):
is Sagittarius and Sagittarians.
Seek truth and your podcast, you know, what you've done transiting yourself
into blue, like blooming, right.
Is about becoming true to who you are.
So that's your purpose, your life.
So yeah, when I'm like, Instead ofbeing like, I'm a Leo, you know,
(08:42):
there's two sides of every sign.
Don't get me wrong.
Right.
You know, the pendulum, right?
You could, there's lots of Leos thatare super self absorbed and then
there's lots of Leos that are like, Idon't want to be self absorbed so that
they're not standing in their power.
So we, you know, I talk, when I teacharchetypes, I talk about like the
balanced part, but being a Leo and beingtold that my whole life versus being
(09:05):
like, okay, what's the essence, right?
And that is the play.
It is the fun.
It is the party.
It is, you know, for meto, to feel like myself.
I got to go have joy.
I got to get outside.
Like I love to play with my kids ormy nephews and nieces or my friends.
Like that's what brings me light.
(09:27):
So it's not just, this is who I am.
It's like when I'm feeling dark orI'm feeling down, I go to my light.
Jen Banks (09:36):
That's so good.
I hired Kambria for a girl's nightand she came over and did a few
readings based on sun, moon, and risingsigns for a little group of women.
And it was so neat to just learn differentpersonalities and how people are able to
get back to that light, because anotherthing you said about Sagittarius is
(09:58):
they value freedom and independence.
A lot of times I feeltrapped in motherhood.
And so that was spot on.
It's like, Oh yeah, that no wonder.
And I've always been kind of anindependent person wanting to get
away from my family and live, youknow, spread my wings and bloom.
And so, yeah, just every time I hearthings like that, it just rings true.
The parts that, you know, resonate and that we keep.
(10:22):
And I love too, when you say.
Oh, we need to get that person somehelp if they aren't living in what's
true to them and what rings true.
So all of, all of the good things.
What are some examples of peoplenot living in their power maybe?
Kambria Davis (10:37):
So when I do bird
chart readings, like people can use
astrology for a lot of stuff, right?
You can, astrology again is not a belief.
It's just a track.
It's a tracking system, right?
You know, 200 years ago when allthe planets aligned like this,
there was the French Revolution and.
We're in similar time.
So it's, it's just alanguage and using that.
(10:59):
So when people, when I do birth chartreadings, um, and when I say like,
Oh, let's help that person or, I tryto do it from a standpoint of like,
what is your soul's essence, right?
Like from the moment you took yourfirst breath, there were energetics
that were hitting the planet.
And we've talked about this, youknow, I use the moon example.
(11:20):
Somebody can find it in a differentpodcast, but the energetics are there.
So this is not made up and wewant to try to define ourselves.
It's like, these were theenergetics that were happening.
These were the imprints.
This was the influence on us.
So, you know, each sun sign, um, causethat's usually where I tell people to
start, would that's people's light, right?
(11:42):
So to you, um, you talk about, you know, you feel have felt and
can feel trapped in motherhood.
Now that's a pretty, if moms arebeing really honest with themselves,
I would say go on a limb here, butI would say most women and mothers
would say that, that they feel thatat least at some point in time.
(12:03):
Now you being a Sagittarius andAquarius moon especially is going
to feel that significantly more.
But when we feel things sointensely, often we look through,
we look for solutions, right?
Or we look for, how can I work with that?
So you have an ability to work withsomething that some people are affected
(12:24):
here, but it affects you very deeply.
One of the biggest things, one ofthe biggest signs that I probably
talk to about what they shouldbe doing or what will help them
are our beautiful water signs.
And I often ask, how often areyou crying to like a Pisces
or a Cancer, even to Scorpio?
(12:44):
Because Scorpio is fixedwater, but it's still water.
And just, you know, when I, when I talkto, especially I would say men more so
because We live in a very dominant, right?
Masculine society that mostpeople have been raised in.
And that doesn't necessarilysupport men crying often.
Um, from an astrology standpoint though, that's super detrimental to them.
(13:09):
Right.
Um, so it's kind of like when youunderstand the archetype of somebody's
son, like for me, right, like.
If I didn't ever, if I like beingon podcasts, being on a, in front of
people talking in a microphone, thosethings are what brings my light out.
(13:31):
Right.
So he's like, what do you do for a living?
Oh, I, if I work from home and I have likea really dark office and I've never spoke
to another human, my soul is going to die.
And.
That would work well fora handful of other signs.
Like, to them, that is it, right?
For some being like, I gotta get on apodcast, and I gotta show my face, and I
(13:53):
gotta talk in front of a group of people.
Absolutely not.
That, that would be so faroutside what makes them shine.
You know what I mean?
Jen Banks (14:02):
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's the other example I thought of isthinking about someone's job or employment
is what, you know, are they, is it agood fit for their soul, their sign,
their son, all those things, becauseI feel like sometimes we just get in
the habit of going and doing and intothe routine and the, the grind, so to
speak, but we're not truly happy if wehaven't looked at what truly is going on.
(14:25):
Is our soul's calling.
So that's good.
Kambria Davis (14:28):
Well, so many
people go through that at some,
it's not going to go away.
Right.
I did a birth chart reading forthis guy yesterday in Phoenix.
Again, never met the guy.
Don't, I don't know him.
Didn't look him up on socials.
He was a referral from areferral from a referral.
Right.
So, and you know, I have no idea, but what his chart was telling me.
(14:53):
Um, definitely sharing that he shouldbe in some type of healing space, right?
He should be, um, an energetichealer, potentially a trauma
therapist, this kind of stuff, right?
In a healing space.
Okay.
And there's multiple things.
So then I asked like, whatdo you do for a living?
(15:13):
And he's like, Oh, I manage a hugesales team for longterm apartment
rentals or something, something.
But what, right.
What eventually, but he's like, but I feelsomething shifting and changing, right?
And then I'm like, okay, well, here'swhere we're looking at your sun sign
and here's, and he's like, okay, yeah.
(15:34):
Right.
I don't know this guy from anything.
And so I'm just seeing the chart andit's lining up and he's feeling it.
He's also dealing with, um, stagefour cancer and going through this
like really big healing journey.
And so it's interesting because you saidit like people's souls are not happy.
(15:56):
So I'm, this is why I'mpassionate about astrology.
I'm passionate because.
When we find our lane, when we reallyget there, things just work out.
Things, things work out.
We get promoted or we find moreabundance or we just find more peace.
And you're right.
(16:17):
We get so conditioned.
We just kind of go, we just get autopilotand being in tune with your birth chart or
knowing these core characteristics, it'sjust like, you know, cause we'll all veer.
It's like, okay, cool.
What?
Feeds my soul.
And then how can I make changes, especially in a job, especially
in a career where we spend somuch of our time, you know?
Jen Banks (16:39):
Yeah.
And I think you said it too.
Timing is a huge thingas well with this man.
He felt like it was a transition periodand you had a transition period and
maybe it was a good fit for a while andthat's what you needed to learn and grow.
But then once it doesn'tserve you, then you can pivot.
Kambria Davis (16:56):
You are dead on the money.
Yeah.
Because we have to be ready.
I mean, when I was working in corporateAmerica, I was like, dude, this is it.
This is, I'm going tobe a district manager.
Then I'm going to be a regional manager.
I'll be the VP someday.
Like, I was like, I love this company.
You know, like I wasdrinking the Kool Aid, right?
(17:19):
My whole life was planned out.
And had somebody told me You know, however many years ago, it's been
now like, Hey, you're going to bedoing energy work and astrology.
And you're going to be used.
I would be like, what are you talking?
I don't even know whatyou're talking about.
Like what foreign languageare you speaking to me?
And I'm not going to be doing that.
Cause that's weird.
And.
(17:39):
Your work ethic depicts everything.
And that's just absolutely not how it is.
It's not, but this is like a seat.
It's like a secret.
I feel like there's this secret thatI'm trying to share with people that I
want people to have that has massivelyimpacted my life for the better.
(18:00):
And I want to, I just wantpeople to be able to know because
yeah, but timing is everything.
We have to be willing and ready.
And it's, unfortunately as humans, we dothis thing where it's not until we're.
Sick, or we are so sad, so depressedthat often turns into some form
of disease that our life is just acomplete mess and then we're like,
(18:22):
okay, something needs to change,
Jen Banks (18:23):
you know, right?
Dang it.
If only we'd known this sooner,
Kambria Davis (18:28):
but yes,
Jen Banks (18:29):
like you said, timing.
Great.
Well, thank you so much for givingus an introduction to all of this.
So like you said, people.
It would be a good idea to startwith your sun sign and then a
birth chart reading from there.
Is that what you'd recommend?
Kambria Davis (18:42):
Yeah, I definitely, I
mean, of course I'm gonna, you know,
plug myself when I get an opportunity.
Um, but I would say start with abirth chart or do what you did.
Get a bunch of friends together.
I can come do like a small little reading.
We call them your big three or yourmain three in astrology, but getting
(19:03):
familiar with those because I get it.
People hear about it and itwas kind of the same for me.
I wanted to know everythingas soon as I started learning.
My brother was teaching me.
I wanted to know everything, but it comes in layers, right?
It's like, you can take Spanish and acouple of years of high school and you
have a, you can maybe get by, but thenif you were to travel to a country,
(19:25):
if you were to live in a country thatSpanish is the language and then be
with the people and then you understandthat, like, so everything gets layered.
So it's like, start with your sun sign.
And most people are learningabout the archetype.
via Instagram or TikTok.
And while some of that'saccurate, a lot of it's not.
(19:46):
It's clickbait, right?
Like, Oh, get more clicks.
So I would tell people, like, if you'reinterested, I do bird chart readings,
start there and then see how it resonates.
Um, I'm also starting and I'll sharethis too, is I'm starting to do monthly
astrology nights, monthly Zodiac nights.
So whatever season we're in, which is.
(20:07):
currently Gemini, um, I willhold a, a night at Biscott's
or somewhere in our community.
And you can come learn about Gemini.
And even if you don't have Gemini, you'regoing to meet a Gemini, maybe raise
a Gemini, marry a Gemini, whatever.
But nonetheless, the energetics of what'shappening to the planet are Gemini energy.
(20:27):
So then it's like, that's a great place too.
If people are too scared for a reading,it's just like, Start to learn the
archetype of each Zodiac, and then you canstart to implement things into your life.
Jen Banks (20:40):
That's so good.
Well, thanks for making it digestible.
It's a lot easier to take, youknow, once it's like, yeah,
just a little bit at a time.
We can do that.
Yes.
So good.
Well, and then you haveyour own podcast, too.
Where can people listen?
Kambria Davis (20:52):
Oh, yeah, the Kaya podcast
with Kambria Davis, and Kaya is K A Y A.
It's Kambria's with a K as well.
I've found it's easier for peopleto just search for Kambria, K A M
B R I A, anywhere on their podcastplatform, because when you search
for KAYA, myself included, it took melike 10 minutes to find the podcast.
(21:12):
So yeah, I mean, and I, and I talkabout like how I got into it and my
background and then I'm, my intentionhopefully is to, Do like little five
or six minute podcasts each season.
Um, I'm teaching the course in person.
And so that's where we deep dive, but like, okay, it's Gemini season
and here's what everyone can expect.
Here's kind of the vibe for thenext, you know, 30 ish days.
(21:34):
So
Jen Banks (21:35):
great.
Well, thank you.
It was a pleasure to talk to you.
Kambria Davis (21:38):
Of course.
Thank you for having me.
Yes.
Jen Banks (21:42):
So good.
Okay.
See ya.
Kambria Davis (21:44):
See you later.
Thank you for listening.
Be sure to follow me onInstagram at A's for adversity.
I'd love to connect with you thereand I'll talk to you next week.
