Julian Hayes II (01:25):
Hello.
Hello.
Thank you so much for having me,Magic.
It is an absolute pleasure.
Pleasure to be here.
Magic Barclay (01:31):
It's a pleasure
to have you here and you're a
very different guest for me.
I don't have many people talkingabout technology and health, so
I'm excited what we're going tonut out today.
Julian Hayes II (01:44):
Well, that's
good to hear.
I, I, there's nothing morethat's music to my ears than to
be, uh, someone that's uniqueand bringing something
different.
I've guess that's the only childin me right there.
Magic Barclay (01:55):
I love it.
All right.
I ask everyone the same threequestions.
All the answers are completelydifferent.
So here's your first one.
And that is what can yourexpertise do to accelerate
health, not just physical, butalso emotional and spiritual
health?
Julian Hayes II (02:12):
First and
foremost, it's about giving you
back your personal power.
A lot of times I think we tendto give our personal power away
when it comes to our health, whether it's thinking about our
genetics or our background.
I'm here first and foremost toinstill that personal power and
that reminder that you have muchmore control over things than
you may even believe or think attimes.
Magic Barclay (02:33):
Great.
And we talk about wealth here aswell, Julian.
Many people think that's justthe financial, but it can also
be personal and emotionalwealth, something that all
entrepreneurs in my mind shouldbe seeking.
So what are your top three tipsto creating wealth?
Julian Hayes II (02:53):
Well, first and
foremost, I know.
Know your end point, know whatyou're actually going after.
And I say that because, uh, alot of times, a lot of our goals
and maybe not necessarily whatwe actually truly want.
It's what we think we shouldwant, or maybe even some
pressures from society.
So the first thing is to knowexactly what you want.
(03:17):
And the second thing is to seekcounsel, whether that's through
some sort of coaching ormentorship or just.
an accountability group, justdon't go at it alone.
And the last step is to, it's abook that I really love, it's
called The Slight Edge by JeffOlson.
(03:37):
And it's to remember that whenyou're on this journey of wealth
and creating a richer life foryourself, is that results will
often be invisible at thebeginning.
A lot of times you'll be doingthings that are beneficial
toward that goal, but you maynot see a tangible result for
that for a long time.
But just as it takes.
(03:58):
Fruits, vegetables and manyother things to sprout from up
from up the ground.
This is the same thing with thewealth and our goals.
Magic Barclay (04:08):
We also talk
about weight loss here.
Have you ever battled yourweight?
If so, how did you win thatbattle?
And what can you offer thelisteners who might be dealing
with this?
Also, Recognizing that stress isoften a key factor.
Julian Hayes II (04:24):
It's patience.
So for me, I had to learn it'sholding two ideas in one hand.
It's to be aggressive, but toalso be patient.
to accomplish that, what I didwas I expanded my time horizon
and instead of looking atsomething as maybe 30 days or 60
days out, I thought If I keepdoing what I'm doing right now.
(04:46):
A year from now are the odds inmy favor that I'm going to be at
the weight to have the body Iwant and each time it's
emphatic.
Yes, but I just had to expand mytime horizon instead of being
caught up in this short termmoment.
Think about the long term.
Instead.
Magic Barclay (05:06):
Great.
Now, tell us about what you do.
Technology and health, they'renot something that I would, in
my mind, pair up straight away.
So tell us how you can helppeople and why you're passionate
about it.
Julian Hayes II (05:23):
Yeah, I'm, I'm
passionate about leveraging
technology because it gives usdata and insight into how we're
living our lives.
And a lot of times we can go byhow we feel, but the benefit of
data is that it doesn't have anybiases and it essentially holds
up to the mirror.
to show that are we doing whatwe should be doing throughout
(05:45):
each and every day to get ourgoals.
And sometimes technology gets abad rap.
I think at times because it's, Ithink we're afraid of technology
because you can get to a pointwhere the technology can't
control you.
But I always preach the messagethat you control the technology
(06:06):
and you leverage that.
I know it's sometimes I've seenpeople where there may be a
little more type A and they gethighly neurotic with the
technology and then it becomes adetriment instead of a benefit.
For the most part, um,technology is just there to
assist us and to create a moreefficient and effective method
to whether that's losing weight, whether that's, you know,
(06:28):
Building some lean muscle orwhether that's just to build a
healthier you.
Magic Barclay (06:34):
So many people
think health is linear and
particularly for entrepreneursand executives, you know, you
mentioned that they're type apersonalities often and You
know, people on that linearhealth path will just look at
one thing.
And I know when I work withpeople, you know, I teach them
(06:56):
wholism, looking at all thesystems of the body and how they
all integrate.
So how do you change someonefrom that very linear thinking
when you're working with them?
Julian Hayes II (07:09):
Well, we
establish, you know, coming from
the business world.
A lot of times they're familiarwith the KPIs, key performance
indicators.
So we do the same thing withtheir health.
And, and a lot of times they'resurprised that one of those key
performance indicators is nottheir weight.
Initially.
I don't look at that really.
Um, I look at things.
(07:30):
More like the intangibles ofhow's your energy throughout
the, how's your energy?
Has it been improving?
Has your mood been improving?
How have you felt just in yourbody over, you know, the last
few weeks and everything.
And then of course we have moretangible things where we can
look at how's your blood.
We can look at different bloodwork and different tests like
(07:52):
that, that we use and thosethings that we can measure as
well.
So there's a whole gamut of, of,uh, different markers that, that
I use.
And weight is not necessarily atthe top of the list because a
lot of times it can be, it canbe a delay depending on where
they're coming from anddepending on how much weight
they have to lose.
Magic Barclay (08:12):
So we've covered
a fair bit, Julian, what's
something that you feel thelisteners need to hear today?
Julian Hayes II (08:19):
lot of things
come to my mind.
But I think with the listeners,I just got done running.
And so what came to my mind wasthat, you know, just, just keep
going.
Just keep going.
I think a lot of times, uh,especially people that listen to
podcasts, they're prettyambitious individuals and
they're, They're people whothey're not lazy by any means.
(08:42):
And so a lot of times they don'tgive themselves grace and
they're always looking after thenext thing or thinking about the
next project.
And so they take very littletime to celebrate how far they
come.
So if I can give anyone someadvice today, it's just to take
a few moments out of the day, maybe journal or something, and
just think about how far thatyou've came from some of your
(09:03):
goals.
From where you were and thenwhere you are right now.
Magic Barclay (09:08):
I think that's
really important.
We often compare ourselves to,you know, what we were in our
twenties or thirties when we getolder.
And, you know, we might evenjust compare ourselves to where
we were last week, but thisweek's completely different.
So take stock of where you arenow and go from there.
Julian Hayes II (09:25):
Absolutely.
Magic Barclay (09:27):
Okay, Julian.
So we've kind of discussedeverything here, but we love
freebies.
