On your journey to creating your magical life, you have responsibilities and things you need to take care of. Doctor's appointments, food choices, following up on appointments and test results, caring for your home, you name it.  If you put the blame or responsibility on others when something doesn't get done, you're giving away the power you have to run your own life.

If you don't look after yourself, no one is going to do it for you. It's time to take accountability and ownership and build the life you deserve!

Magic Barclay (00:42):
Welcome back to a Magical Life.
I'm your host, magic Barclay, and today we're following on
from our last chat, which wasabout organization.
Today we're talking aboutaccountability.
I just wanna pose one questionto you dear listeners, and that
is who's responsible for younow?

(01:06):
It seems like an obvious answer.
We're all going to say thatwe're responsible for ourselves,
but how many times do we giveaway that accountability, that
responsibility to other people?
I have many clients who havecome to me after being, I guess,
pass to and fro, or seekingdifferent people in the medical

(01:30):
industry, and one thing they allhave in common.
Is that they didn't takeaccountability for their own
health.
And in fact, many people come tome and to my people at Holistic
Natural Health Australia andsay, help us heal.

(01:51):
But in the way that they'resaying it, they.
Handing their own accountabilityover to us.
So something we do in ourprograms is certainly when I'm
talking to someone, the firstthing I say to them is, I am
teaching you about your body.
I am teaching you about yourhealth.
You are the one that'sresponsible to carry out

(02:14):
whatever it is that we discuss.
You are the one that'sresponsible to follow it up.
You are the one that'sresponsible to book your
appointments with me.
I won't chase you for anappointment.
And the reason I lay theseground rules is because these
clients need to takeaccountability.

(02:38):
Now, I also let them know thatat the end of our programs,
hopefully I've taught themenough that they can continue
on, and I'm always here as asupport.
As do my team, but we are notthe ones living in your body.
We are not the ones experiencingthings day to day.
We are not the ones havingemotional reactions to things

(03:01):
that happen in our lives.
You are, it's your body.
Now, this is kind of what drivesme mad about the medical
industry sometimes.
When I say drives me mad, it's abug bear.
You have to beg for your testresults.
Beg for copies to be printedout.

(03:21):
In many cases, not in all, butin many.
That's your blood that wastested, that's your whatever it
was that was tested.
They're your hormones.
Why don't you automatically getgiven results without having to
ask for them?

(03:42):
Slightly off topic, but alsoslightly not because you are
accountable to your body.
It is up to you to make sure youhave these results on hand.
It is up to you to make surethat if you're doctor shopping,
that the next doctor has acomplete list of what it is that
you are taking and.

(04:03):
What you're taking it for sothat there's no adverse
interactions of medications orsupplements or whatever it is.
Same if you go to a naturopathand then you go to a holistic
practitioner.
You need to have a list becauseyou need to take accountability.
At the end of the day.

(04:24):
These people, me, my team, we donot live in your body.
You do Now, I've taught my kidsthis from a young age that they
need to be accountable forthemselves.
My boys now live in a differenthouse on our property.

(04:44):
It is up to them to bring theirwashing over to get done at my
house.
I'm not bringing it over.
They are, it's their washing.
Will it bother me if it doesn'tget washed?
No.
But it's up to them.
So we need to teach our kidsfrom a young age to be

(05:06):
accountable for themselves.
They need to take personalaccountability of their
belongings.
This means their room needs tobe tidied if they stand on a
doll or a Lego or whatever, andbreak it because it was on the
floor.
Take accountability.
Say something to them like, well, that's terribly sad,

(05:27):
that's broken, and now it needsto go into bin.
But was it in a place that youdidn't stand on it?
Was it a way where it's supposedto be after you finished playing
with it?
Take personal accountabilitywith books.
A toddler rips out a page out oftheir book.
Oh, now the story's gone.

(05:49):
You didn't look after it.
They need to learn this and theyneed to learn it from a young
age, and we need to make surethat we follow through with it
throughout our lives.
And this is really important.
You wanna be on a diet for yourhealth, a whole foods diet.
You need to take personalaccountability.
You need to make sure that theshopping is done so that the

(06:13):
whole foods are there for you.
You didn't have a random cheatday because you hadn't stocked
up on the foods.
Make sure you do it.
And many people don't takeaccountability these days for
their own actions, for their ownwords, for their own thoughts,

(06:34):
even.
People rely on government totell them what to do, what to
say, what to think on the tv,what to do, what to say, what to
think.
On influences, what to buy, whatto wear, where to go, where's
your personal accountability.
It's really up to us to putourselves first, not to be.

(06:58):
Egotistical or egocentric or youknow, the world revolves around
me.
No, that's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying is if you don'tlook after yourself, no one else
is going to do it for you.
And this is really, really, really important.
I don't know how many reallys Ican actually put in there, but
it is extremely important andit's something that many of us

(07:23):
sadly are lacking until it'snearly too late.
I.
My boys play lap, live action, role play, and in their war
band, which is the group thatthey run around with.
The standing rule number one istake personal accountability.
Now, this means that yourweapons, your armor, your soft

(07:44):
kit, whatever it is that you areusing must be in good condition.
And guess what?
If it's not, it's on you.
It's not on anyone else, it's onyou.
And if that means you cannotfight that night at the game
because your gear isn't up tosnuff, that is on you.

(08:04):
So an example of personalaccountability.
When we're at work, sometimestasks need to be done in the
office instead of just keeping.
A mental list of all the thingsthat you have to do.
Write yourself a list, or evenbetter, if you're using a CRM or

(08:25):
a diary system or anything likethat, set yourself a reminder or
a task to do it.
Take personal accountability.
It is not up to anyone else inthe office to remind you what
you need to get done.
It's completely on you.
If it means that you have to dowork on a property or.
Yard work at your own home.

(08:46):
Make sure that you schedulethat.
And we spoke about organizationlast month.
This flows on withaccountability.
If it doesn't get done, takeaccountability.
Make sure that you are organizedto do this.
Make your life easier so thatthis can happen.
There's many, many things in ourlife that we need to take

(09:09):
accountability for, and thisalso includes our behavior.
If you are wrong, takeaccountability and admit it.
Encourage others around you todo the same.
Take accountability for theirwords, their actions, and the
effect that has on other people.

(09:31):
So that's how accountabilityworks.
Now, how do we make this easieron ourselves?
Like I said, write lists.
Set yourself tasks, put thingsin your diary.
Take accountability if itdoesn't get done.
Doesn't mean beat yourself up,that it doesn't get done.

(09:52):
It just means acknowledge whathappened, what might've gotten
in a way reschedule and makesure it gets done.
Now, I hope today's little chathas helped in some way to help
you take accountability, and itreally is important.
We take personal accountability'cause it is key to our health

(10:16):
and to our lifestyle success.
If you want something, you haveto work for it.
If you wanna succeed, you haveto put the effort in.
If you wanna enjoy things, youhave to set yourself up for the
enjoyment.
