Speaker 1 (00:01):
A moment in devotion with Dr John P Johnson this
Christmas season.
I pray that the eyes of yourunderstanding will be open to
the revelation that in theadvent, the coming of Jesus
Christ, all men can have peacewith God.
Luke, chapter 2, verse 1through 14, reveals the peace

(00:32):
that has come to all men throughJesus Christ.
And it came to pass in thosedays that there went out a
decree from Caesar Augustus thatall the world should be taxed,
and this taxing was first madewhen Cyrenus was governor of
Syria, and all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city, and

(00:55):
Joseph also went up fromGalilee, out of the city of
Nazareth, into Judea and to thecity of David, which is called
Bethlehem because he was of thehouse and lineage of David to be
taxed, with Mary, his espousedwife, being great with child.

(01:17):
And so it was that while theywere there, the days were
accomplished that she should bedelivered, and she brought forth
her firstborn son and wrappedhim in swaddling clothes and

(01:37):
laid him in a manger, becausethere was no room for them in
the inn.
And there were, in the samecountry, shepherds abiding in
the field keeping watch overtheir flock by night.
And lo, the angel of the Lordcame upon them and the glory of
the Lord shone around about them, and they were sore, afraid.

(01:57):
And the angel said unto themFear not, for behold, I bring
you good tidings of great joywhich shall be to all people,
for unto you is born this day,in the city of David, a Savior
which is Christ the Lord, andthis shall be a sign unto you.

(02:20):
Ye shall find the babe, wrappedin swaddling clothes, lying in
a manger, and suddenly there was, with the angel, a multitude of
heavenly hosts praising God andsaying glory to God in the
highest and on earth, peace, goodwill toward men.
