In this episode we're sitting down with Daniel Contraguerro from The Defense Lab and talking all things self-defense. First and foremost we talk about why everyone thinks they can fight, and the sad reality that very few people can actually defend themselves effectively.

We then spend some time talking about deselecting yourself as a potential victim. The best form of self-defense is confidence, situational awareness and moving with purpose.

If push comes to shove and it's time to fight, we talk about how to train for a fight. Combat sports are highly removed from the realities of a violent encounter. They are certainly helpful, but if you want it to translate, you have to add some elements of self defense training from time to time in your combat sports.

When it comes to guns, Danny prefers a 9mm and a front carry with a hard back holster. This provides a great balance in his opinion.

In terms of knives, Danny prefers a fixed blade knife in a sheath carried in front as well.

Training with all of these modalities will help develop a violence of mind (thanks for the term Freeborn) that will allow you to react accordingly if the time comes.

We cover a lot of ground when it comes to self-defense in this podcast and I highly recommend reaching out to Danny at The Defense Lab for more information.
