Tony Hendra, the author of Father Joe is best known for his lead position with the National Lampoon and his involvement with the very famous comedy movie entitled "Animal House" in the late 1970's. He moved to the theatre and was fundamental in a very successful play entitled "Lemmings" that brought to fame John Belushi and Chevy Chase. He later co-created a successful tv series in England entitled "Spitting Image". Tony's book centers also around his relationship to a Father Joe-a Catholic monk on the island of Quarr. Father Joe has been a mentor and a good friend to Tony Hendra. Tony desired early in life to join the Benedictine monks at Quarr but got sidetracked by life in the normal life of living. Nonetheless, Father Joe is a trusted friend throughout his whole life.
