Salt, while just a commodity in our society has a very rich history for all of mankind. This episode covers the first recognition of  the importance of salt in China and the subsequent recognition that it was provided in Europe when Marco Polo brought it to Venice in the late 13th Century. Salt was esteemed by royalty and many wars have been fought over its dominance. In fact, it was a major factor in the colonies succeeding from England. There are many kinds of salt including refined and unrefined. We currently use refined salt as a common table salt but unrefined salt has more vitamins and minerals.
