Speaker 1 (00:25):
Hello and welcome to
another episode of A Spectrum of
Hyperfixations.
I am your host, miss T the Ttoday stands for Taken, because
I'm going to be talking aboutone of my more recent
hyperfixations and that isJeremy Jordan Jordan.
(00:47):
Broadway actor, jeremy Jordan,I am taken with him.
I am taken by his voice, hislooks, all the good things.
I guess s would be probablybetter because it'd be smitten,
but either way, we're gonna runwith the tease, so let's talk.
How did I get into him?
(01:08):
So you may have heard of thisshow called has been hotel and,
if you haven't, fair enoughbecause I feel like it's kind of
niche enough still that a lotof people don't know, even
though you probably couldn'ttell based on the fan base.
They are pretty rabid, but itis an adult animated show that
came out on Amazon earlier thisyear.
(01:29):
The pilot was actually postedto YouTube back in 2019.
I want to say so.
It's taken some time to to gethere and, um, I wasn't gonna
give it a try because, based onsome things, I heard about it,
this and that, whatever but Iended up giving it a try, I
(01:52):
think shortly after the firstfour or five episodes were
posted.
Yeah, five episodes, becausethey dropped them in a small
little batch.
So that episode five is wheremr jeremy jordan comes in as
(02:22):
lucifer and he is so charming,so adorable, looking up, who
voices him, who brought him tolife, you know sort of thing.
And then I was looking at allthis stuff on Jeremy Jordan,
finding out he's a Broadwayactor.
He was in this show that mysister really loved called Smash
(02:44):
, from back in the day.
So I even went and just watchedlike the first one or two
episodes of season two of Smash, because that's where he comes
in.
I didn't care about anythingelse about the show, I just fast
forwarded to his moments on thescreen.
And that led me to finding outthat Bonnie and Clyde a live
(03:06):
stage version of it was filmedand recorded in the UK back a
couple years ago, I think it was, and it was just now coming out
for people to stream.
Now, all the things you know, because your algorithm gets all
messed up once you startGoogling people and things.
And so then Google was showingme all these like clips from the
(03:29):
Great Gatsby, because he's beenon there.
He's currently starring thereGosh, what else?
It's just it was a rabbit holeand I haven't really gone down a
rabbit hole that much since, well, no, yes, okay.
So I was gonna say I haven'tgone down that rabbit hole very
(03:51):
much.
I do with voice actors but Idon't really get into, you know,
like watching other shows thatthey do in time.
(04:14):
Back in 2003, when I was in highschool and I told myself I
didn't want to uh, fall foranother celebrity as hard as I
did for Johnny Depp, becausethat's just become a
disappointment.
Let's be honest, after all thatAmber Heard trail and
everything coming out, I mean hejust kind of lost a shine for
me.
Um, so I didn't want to becomereally hyper fixated on another
real life person, becausefictional characters can't
(04:36):
really disappoint you.
They're not going to, you know,do horrible things.
At least you know, whateverthey haven't done in the show.
It's just you know, you alreadyknow, so I didn't want it.
But you know you can't reallypick your hyperfixations.
They just kind of latch ontoyou and that's what happened.
So I ended up buying a ticket tostream Bonnie and Clyde, even
(04:58):
though I'm not really a fan ofmusicals, but go figure, I like
Hasbun Hotel, which is prettymuch a musical, but I ended up
really enjoying it.
It was like a good time, and Imean Bonnie and Clyde are not
good people, so it doesn'treally represent them accurately
(05:20):
, at least as far as what I canremember, when I read the Public
Enemy book which of course isafter I watched the movie of
Public Enemy when I was stillback into Johnny Depp, which
John Dillinger became a wholeobsession based off out of that,
anyways, so that was a reallyfun time.
Um again went through watchsmash, which I want to get back
(05:42):
to you because, uh, yeah, I wantto see more of him.
My sister just thinks thatfunny and she wanted me to give
the whole show a chance.
But I realized pretty quicklythat smash is a show that I will
not like and it reminds me somuch of kids from high school
(06:05):
who were very much that kind oflike look at me, I'm so good,
I'm so popular, I'm so talented, you know all these things and
I'm like barf, so I won't bewatching it, even though it's
got such a solid cast.
I was texting her live, youknow, as I'm watching it, and I
(06:27):
was also, you know, pretty tipsyon some wine.
But like it has AngelicaHouston, it has Jack Davenport
from also the Pirates of theCaribbean movies, norrington, if
you remember him, um, I think Ihad somebody else that I was
very surprised was in it and nowI can't remember.
But yeah, so Jeremy Jordan hasbecome one of my most recent
(06:50):
obsessions.
And just last night so I'mrecording this on September 5th,
just last night, I was all inmy feels and I took a sleep
gummy to try and help wind medown, because I've also been
having like an 80 year olds backlately, so that I started
feeling kicking in.
You know, getting that highfeeling.
(07:11):
Rather than putting me to sleep, it was keeping me awake, as it
sometimes does.
So, you know, my heart's kindof racing a little bit and I'm
in my feels and I recognize thatwhen I get into kind of these
low, almost kind of like manicepisodes emotionally, I go on
wild purchasing sprees and I solast night, uh, I was just
(07:39):
scrolling YouTube before I go tobed to see if there's any like
last minute videos I want towatch.
And I saw on Vivzy Pops YouTube, um, because you know how they
can post like, uh, texts andlinks and things if you're on
the app.
I don't think you can see itwhen you're just on YouTube,
like on your TV.
But it was a post saying like, hey, this new artwork has hit on
(08:03):
Streamlily and for all youradio apple shippers out there
and it will be signed by AmirTalai I probably butchered his
name, I'm so sorry and JeremyJordan, and I knew I had to have
it because I'm just goingthrough watching Bonnie and
Clyde for the third time.
(08:23):
I put it on at work last Fridaybecause we were pretty slow and
I was just pulling taxes andI'm like I could just put this
on for the last couple hours andso I'm riding high still from
that and I love the radio Applepairing.
That is like my OTP for thisfandom and uh, yeah, yeah.
(08:51):
So I bought it.
It was quite a pretty penny,I'm not gonna lie, but it's
gonna be totally worth itbecause it's really really solid
, nice artwork.
It is like I'm a fan ofalistair, but no offense, like
lucifer is where it's at andbecause I took that to the next
level with, you know, hyperfixating on this voice actor a
(09:11):
little bit, here we are to whereyou're dropping money that you
probably shouldn't be at nightduring bedtime, when you're high
and in your feels.
When you're high and in yourfeels, so, pro tip, lock up your
(09:32):
phone or your credit cards whenyou get to be in that state of
mind, anyway.
So I will probably talk moreabout him, definitely more on
Hasbin Hotel, but I just thoughtthat was a fun little story and
I would be curious if you haveseen any of his work, if you
know of him, if you're a fan ofhis.
My sister told me she's watchedthe Newsies.
She watched the Newsies atschool when she was a para.
(09:55):
The kids were watching it andshe said she liked it.
She said he was really good.
Again, I'm not a fan ofmusicals and how am I going
after a Broadway actor?
So weird conundrum.
Uh, yeah, so jeremy jordan, that's another hyper fixation of
mine that came out of nowhereand, uh, I cannot wait to get
(10:18):
this autograph.
I think they will be signingthem live on stream.
I don't know how this works.
I've never bought anything fromStreamlily in this sort of way
and now that the post on YouTubeis actually gone, because I had
texted it to a couple friendsto show them what I had done and
they're like I can't accessthis link, so I'm assuming they
(10:41):
sold out, but I'm going to.
You could put how you wantedthem to sign it and anything
else.
And I just told them to putlike sign whatever comes to mind
and then you can sign it to myname and my pin name.
And maybe they've read somefics of mine.
Doubt it, I mean, those ficsare gone now.
I deleted them.
That's a whole another podcastfor hyperfixation, your uh,
(11:04):
negative thoughts and feelings, because hyper fixating isn't
always a feel-good thing,unfortunately.
So that is this week's topic, this little brief update into my
world of uh with jeremy jordan.
So I hope you have a wonderfulday whenever you're listening to
this.
(11:25):
Do check out Bonnie and Clydethe Musical if you are a fan of
musicals.
I've also kind of enjoyed whatI've seen, the little clips I've
seen of the Great Gatsby, whichthat's a whole other topic,
because my brother-in-law lovesthe Great Gatsby, he loves that
book, and I had some fightingwords for him because I said
(11:48):
nothing happens in this book.
This book was so boring I hatedevery minute reading of it in
my I think it was junior year inhigh school.
This book was so freakingboring and I told him I watched
the what's his name, like samwater waterston, whoever was in
the the law and order series, and he was playing nick, I think
(12:09):
the character's name was, andI'm like this is, this is a
mind-numbingly boring and uh.
So then we were googling, likewhat I googled what happens in
the great gatsby while he washere, and google brought up some
things about there being friedchicken and just like a chicken
(12:30):
metaphor or something in thegreat gatsby, and so we had a
good laugh about that, becausehe did not remember anything
about a chicken.
And so now he's like I'm gonnago read the book and I will let
you know, uh, what I learnedabout the fried chicken.
I would love that the musicalcame out on streaming somehow,
just to be able to take a lookat it.
(12:50):
I'd probably enjoy it betterthan the book, even though I'm
really not a fan of musicalseither.
But if Jeremy Jordan's JayYatsby, then I'm there.
It's unfortunate that New Yorkis so far from Kansas, and New
York is one of those places Iwould feel so overwhelmed in, I
believe, and just overstimulated, that I don't know if I could
ever go to a Broadway show, tobe honest.
(13:13):
So there you have it Again merambling hyperfixations.
That's what it is A lot oframbling and a lot of info
dumping and just getting caughtin tams and all the things.
So I really need to find asign-up for this.
This is like the fourth everepisode I'm recording.
I really need to pin down anintro, an outro, because I just
(13:35):
feel so awkward when trying toend these things.
I don't know how to end them.
So you're seeing live me kindof having a little, uh, mini
breakdown panic over this.
So I'm just gonna say, uh, keepon hyper fixating gosh, what a
hard word that is.
And uh, we will catch you nexttime.
