A multi-hyphenate anomaly! Veronica and I have known one another for a few years here in NYC - not only is she one of the BEST audition coaches (speaking as her client), just read her epic bio below for a whole lot of goodness. I appreciate Veronica’s heart, kindness, faith and generosity. We hope you’re encouraged by this episode.
Veronica Reyes-How is an award winning writer/actor/producer based in NYC. A graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A in Mathematics, she left a career in technology consulting to pursue acting when an open-call audition resulted in her booking the national tour of Rent. Other acting credits include Miss Saigon, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. CBS’ Blue Bloods, NBC’s The Blacklist, CBS’ Person of Interest, and ABC’s Alex Inc. She produced the short film California Roll, which was accepted into 10 film festivals around the country and won the Best Micro Thriller at the 2018 Austin Revolution Film Festival. As a director, she has worked for Theatreworks USA, The Barrow Group, and Unity Stage Company.
All of these roads lead to her love of writing original narratives. Through a string of recommendations, Veronica was hired to write a pilot by an independent producer. The reading of said pilot went so well, the budget went up and she was asked to make a 6 episode series. This is under a SAG MLB contract and goes into production in June 2023. This is her first tv series writing credit, hopefully not her last.
Also last year, she was invited into the Sesame Street Fellowship. After completing it, she was hired by MathTalk to be the Head writer and architect of the world and stories for their animated kids series, combining her love of writing, mathematics, education and comedy.
Outside of work, she’s a poker enthusiast (only to use her math skills, not for money!), loves to play tennis and watch animal videos with her husband and their 13 year old chihuahua, Fergus.
