Unpacking my journey with alcohol, how my relationship with alcohol has evolved, and some tips/tricks to evaluate your relationship with alcohol or drink more mindfully. Vibe Check Questions: Am I drinking to make this "thing" bearable, or fun? Am I drinking to escape, cope, or blow off steam? Am I in a headspace where alcohol could potentially make matters worse? On Paper Exercise: On a piece of paper, break it out into 4 sections- When, Where, Why, How When- When am i drinking? This should be a short list but get specific. Fridays and Saturdays? Wednesday's and Saturdays? Etc Where- Where am i drinking? Happy hours, dates, weddings, holidays, etc. Maybe you can pick one from this list of "where" and decide you'll experiment with opting not to drink at this particular setting Why- This requires you to be super honest with yourself. Why am I drinking? Don't hold any shame- just ask yourself why and maybe you'll uncover some common themes to examine further. How- How do I feel before, during, and after?
