Hey guys, welcome back to our Worship Warriors podcast.
(00:08):
Welcome back guys to our Worship Warriors podcast.
I am on a roll with these episodes, so let's hope and pray that this continues.
I also don't know how much time I have, so we will see how this goes.
I have two kids sleeping and they've been sleeping for a little bit, and we'll see when
they wake up.
One of them might wake up pretty soon.
Anyway, so this is going to be just another Diary of a Worship Warrior episode.
(00:33):
I've got another episode coming out either the same day as this one or pretty soon before
or after, I don't know when they land as far as coming out.
But it is not a, the other one is not a Diary of a Worship Warrior.
It's not just me babbling about my thoughts.
It is an actual thought out outlined episode about prayer.
(00:56):
So if you are someone who's new to the faith or maybe you're not, maybe you don't have
a relationship with God at all, and wow, literally my son just woke up and I just started this.
Holy Spirit, help us get through this.
Okay, what was I saying?
Oh, if you're new to the faith or maybe you don't have a relationship with God at all
(01:18):
and you're wondering why prayer is so important or maybe it's intimidating to you, I'm just
going to go through simply what prayer is and how it's literally not intimidating whatsoever.
It's actually one of the best things in the entire world.
In fact, to me, it is the best thing that I do every day.
And so yeah, that's going to be a fun thing or maybe you are a believer, you have been
for years and you're close to God.
(01:41):
This is just maybe a really good reminder of some things for you or whatever.
Anyway, you should go check that episode out.
All right, what's just happened in this episode because I've been thinking about some things.
I'm going to babble about them a bit, but it is led by the Holy Spirit.
So I have been talking a lot recently on the last two episodes.
(02:03):
I've mentioned how I don't have a New Year's resolution list.
My list is literally just one thing and it's to do better with self-discipline.
So a little bit about myself is about myself when it comes to self-discipline specifically.
I have always struggled with self-discipline and I know this is something that everyone
(02:23):
struggles with to a certain degree, but there are some people who really do well with having
self-discipline for long periods of time with certain areas in their life or maybe almost
every area in their life.
And I'm not saying they're perfect at it because they're human beings, but they do really well
with it overall.
I am not one of those people.
I do well for short spurts.
(02:46):
Short used to be like maybe a week or two and it has grown to like a month, a couple
months sometimes.
That's great for me.
But then I get in a slump for a couple weeks and I'm back at ground zero and starting from
square one again with my relationship with God or with whatever it is.
And I'm tired of that.
I hate that about myself because I hate the feeling of being back at square one when you
(03:09):
have been trying to get your stuff together for years, for your whole life basically.
And so I'm tired of that.
It's exhausting and it makes me feel kind of depressive and God is not a God of depression.
So I'm here for the joyful God that he is and I am not going to be that person anymore.
(03:31):
And I have officially decided that, not just recently, I decided that a while ago and I've
been working on it with God.
But this new year I am just taking on what I've been trying to do and what I've been
giving to God with my self discipline and the past however long it's been now.
I'm trying to think.
Like it's been a few months.
I don't remember when I was like, okay, I'm done with this God.
(03:53):
Like I'm sick and tired of this.
But anyway, I'm bringing that into the new year and that is my goal.
And yes, I'm going to be doing other things, but my main goal for the entire year is just
to be consistently in with God.
Will I fail?
Probably.
But if I fail, my goal is to just bounce right back in where I left off and only fail for
a day and do better the next day.
(04:15):
And that way I'm also giving myself a little bit of grace because I am a human being and
a year, a lot can happen in a year, y'all.
A lot.
And so I understand that a lot of things can happen in my life that could provoke me to
stumble.
But the point is that I am just consistently looking to God to help me by giving me the
(04:39):
strength that I need to have the self-discipline that I need in all areas of my life.
I hope that made sense.
So that is the main thing.
Now going forward to what I'm actually going to be talking about in this episode, it did
kind of have, it related to that in a way.
So I wanted to preface that first.
(05:03):
In a waiting season, so if you're in a waiting season, well everyone to a certain degree
is in a waiting season at all times.
You're always waiting for the next season of life.
Right now what I'm thinking about is if you are someone who is like many other people
in this world as a Christian and you hear God has a purpose for your life and the way
(05:25):
you take this and sometimes the way it's taught unfortunately is that you each have a plan
and a purpose for God so wait for him to tell you what it is.
Basically they're saying or basically what you're interpreting this as, whether they're
teaching it this way or not, is you need to listen to God and he's going to tell you what
you're going to be doing and it's this big thing, this grand thing or whatever and you're
(05:48):
going to use these gifts.
Maybe you don't know what the gifts are yet but he has these spiritual gifts for you and
you have them.
You don't know about them yet so just wait and listen for him to tell you these things
and then go about your day.
When you find out these things you start doing the thing he tells you to do and bam you're
doing your purpose.
No.
That in my opinion is extremely unbiblical.
(06:10):
God does not say I have one plan for Sarah and one plan for Casey and one plan for Joe
and one plan for Christie.
I have one plan for every single person that is a Christian.
I have this one big plan for all of you and the way that you go about doing them is different,
(06:31):
yes, but you don't have to sit here and do nothing while you wait for God to tell you
what to do.
God tells us go out, teach all nations.
He tells us what our purpose is.
Okay so I had to cut some stuff out because I was researching a passage.
(06:52):
I don't know if this was the exact one I was thinking of but basically there is multiple
passages where God is telling us basically to put our past away and look toward him,
you know, allow God to renew your mind, all of these things.
An example is this one that says in 1 Peter 2, so get rid of all evil behavior, be done
(07:13):
with all deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and all unkind speech like newborn babies.
You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation.
Cry out for this nourishment now that you have had a taste of the Lord's kindness.
Then you go down and it says, go down to 15, it is God's will that your honorable lives
(07:35):
should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against you for you are
free yet you are God's slaves so don't use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.
Respect everyone and love the family of believers, fear God, and respect the king.
Y'all, this is your will, this is your purpose.
(07:55):
Your purpose is to allow God to renew your mind, your purpose is to submit to God, your
purpose is what I just read.
You know, live an honorable life by growing closer to God and him transforming you, you
will live an honorable life as the Holy Spirit exudes righteousness out of you.
It's not you, it's God.
(08:16):
And when that happens, you are living this honorable life and your honorable life, it
says it's God's will that that honorable life of yours, so the actions, the way your lifestyle
is should, that is going to silence the people that worship the devil, the people who don't
(08:36):
have a relationship with God.
You should not be living a worldly life anymore, you should be living a godly life and by doing
so you should silence those ignorant people who are accusing God of not being loving,
of not being this, of not doing that, because they're wrong and your life should display
that.
(08:57):
That is your purpose, your purpose is to grow God's kingdom and strengthen God's kingdom.
What that means is we are to go out and yes, show non-Christians what it's like to be a
Christian and how beautiful that is and how amazing that is and how they need that so
they can live eternally starting now with God and not be separated from him.
(09:20):
We should be showing them that yes, that is growing God's kingdom, but then we also should
be strengthening God's kingdom.
We should be there for people, you know, that's why God has the church, we need community,
we need Christian community and we need it for us, but we also need it for them.
We need to be encouraging other Christians, we need to be praying for them, we need to
be walking beside them when they're going through a hard time or a happy time.
(09:42):
We need to be strengthening them and they should be strengthening us and God strengthens
us as well.
He strengthens the kingdom and the way he strengthens the kingdom is through our private
time with him, but also through our corporal time with him.
That means when you're in church, when you're in your community group, your Bible study
group, when you're in your prayer group, you know, and that is our purpose and plan.
(10:04):
And maybe God has something for you, like for me right now, I have this beautiful ministry
that he's given me and it's nothing grand, it's nothing big, I don't have millions and
millions of people or whatever listening to this podcast daily and weekly, but maybe in
10 years I won't be doing any of this ministry anymore and maybe he'll have something completely
different for me and maybe it won't be as big as putting podcast episodes out there
(10:27):
or blog posts or putting free resources out there for people.
It may have nothing to do with any of that and it may just be working in my local church
and that's my biggest thing that he's given me.
And then maybe 20 years from then I'll have something different and I won't be at that
same church doing the same things.
Like we don't have one job, it's not like a career that you do for the rest of your
(10:50):
life.
But if you're thinking in those terms your career that you do for literally absolutely
forever while you're here on earth is to do everything I just told you to do.
To live with and for God, to grow his kingdom and strengthen his kingdom.
That is your career.
But as far as how you go about that, you're going to have different jobs that God gives
(11:10):
you and you're going to be using different, how do I say this, different gifts I guess,
spiritual gifts that he's given you for those things and those different jobs, yes they're
different jobs, you're going about them in different ways each of them, they're not the
same but they all have the same goal in the end and that goal is the career part.
(11:35):
Hopefully that makes sense.
Anyway, so if you're sitting around you're like I don't know what my purpose is, I don't
know what God's plan is for me, I don't know what my gift is, I just told you what it is
and so it's your job now to just start living with and for God and I don't feel led to go
into extensive detail about what that really looks like on a daily basis, a weekly basis
(11:59):
but the very simple foundation of that is listen to God and talk to God.
Start with that.
What does that look like?
Pray, talk to him and sit there and listen and when you pray, God talks back sometimes
and not even sometimes, the closer you're to him you'll realize he actually talks back
(12:19):
to you a lot of the time and sometimes it's not like an audible voice, it's like the Holy
Spirit inside of you tells you things and not only that but as you're talking, it's
like as you're talking it out to God it's like oh okay actually God there's logic here
and I wasn't saying that, thank you for helping me realize that as I'm speaking about it,
you know it's stuff like that too.
Listen to God is not only just through prayer though, listen to God is read your Bible.
(12:43):
It is God's inspired word and he wants us to read it, he wants us to learn more about
him and then as a result we learn more about ourselves and we learn how to interact with
people.
It's literally the book that tells you how to live life.
So just start reading it, don't make it a big deal, just read it, read through it, read
(13:07):
through a little bit each day.
If someone stands out to you, let it stand out to you.
If you don't know what a word is, look into it and find out what it means.
You know and that's how you start studying and reading God's word.
It starts with just opening it and reading it.
Anyway so there's the basics of what it means to live with God and as far as living for
(13:28):
him that is obedience.
As time goes on you're going to see things that need to be done out in this world whether
it be in your home or out on the streets and God's kingdom is here on earth but through
his body and we are the body.
And so we need to bring the kingdom to the streets and what that means is we need to
bring God's kingdom, God's love and pour it out to other people and that's how we obey
(13:53):
God and there are times when God is going to tell you to do something specifically,
walk in obedience to that and do it.
And also there are other times where you may not know like God is telling me to do this
specific thing but this lady needs help doing this thing so I'm going to go over there
and be kind to her and out of the kindness of my heart show her God's love and help
her with this thing.
(14:14):
Whatever.
You know what I mean?
So there's little things like that too and that's how we walk in obedience to him.
So those are the three things.
Talk to God, read his word, study his word and walk in obedience and that's how you
live with God and for God.
That has been on my mind a lot lately and that felt really good actually to get that
off my chest because I've been thinking about it a lot and God's been bringing it up a
(14:36):
lot the waiting season because I'm actually in a waiting season myself and so that is
your plan and purpose.
And another thing that I want to talk about with the waiting season is contentment.
So yes we should be doing these things.
We should be living with and for God like I was talking about but also sometimes when
(14:58):
we're waiting for something specific and we believe God has promised us that thing, we're
just sitting there and waiting.
And yes, I mean not sitting there and waiting, like doing nothing, we're not twiddling our
thumbs.
We are living, say we're living with and for God while we're waiting, it's just really
hard to wait because maybe it's something that affects you every day.
(15:19):
Maybe there's someone in your life who just does not see that they're living a lifestyle
of sin and there's someone you see all the time.
So you're just sitting there waiting and it's affecting you.
It's directly affecting you.
It's hard going through those hard things.
(15:41):
So you're crying, you're praying, you're crying out to God.
You're asking Him, Lord why?
Why have you not given me this yet?
Why have you not helped this person see this yet?
Why are they still doing this?
Why are they still doing that?
Why are they still saying these things?
It's so hard when it directly affects your life.
It is so hard not to be selfish and just say I want it now, I want it now.
(16:07):
And that's, it's just so difficult.
But when you're in that season, something that God has really been showing me, when
you're in a season where it's a hard season, whatever it is, it doesn't have to be that
specific example of like someone not living a lifestyle that shows God or whatever and
(16:29):
it's directly affecting you.
It doesn't have to be that exactly.
But say it's just a waiting season that's really hard and it does affect you on a regular
basis and maybe you've shed your tears, maybe you've prayed out to God all the time like
every day about it and you just are so confused why it hasn't come yet.
Just know that you don't have to know, first of all.
You don't have, like we are so blessed that we don't have to know how things need to turn
(16:53):
out and how to go about it.
We don't have to know all of these things.
We don't have to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders.
We don't even have to carry the weight of not the whole world but even our little town,
you know, the town around you, the neighborhood around you.
You don't have to carry that weight on your shoulders.
God puts the weight that He wants you to carry on your shoulders and He says, not only are
(17:15):
you going to carry this but I'm going to carry it with you and the rest of the world's burdens.
You don't have to carry the rest of the world's though, I do.
You don't have to worry about that.
So just know that and think about that, ponder that, pray through that thought because it
is a freeing thought to have.
You are not God and thank goodness you are not God.
(17:37):
The next thing with that though is just know that there is contentment in this season.
There is contentment and contentment is something that is very misunderstood.
It is not something that is like, okay well, you know, I can't get a house yet so I guess
(17:58):
I'll just be content with what I have.
It's not something you're settling for.
Contentment is actually peace and joy about that thing, about your present moment, about
your present house or your present apartment or your present whatever.
Contentment is not settling.
Contentment is realizing, wow, I have so many blessings that I didn't even realize I had
(18:23):
and God gave me those and it's not because I deserved it, it's because He loves me and
He deserves to be glorified for that.
That is contentment and then you live that out.
You live your life as if you have realized that you are blessed, you don't deserve that
blessing but you're blessed anyway and you are loved and you love God and that is contentment.
(18:46):
So, while you're in the waiting season, you need to sit down and say, God, what are my
blessings?
Pray, ask Him what your blessings are and start jotting them down.
Just write down everything that you are blessed with.
It could take you days and you could still not fill out the list possibly.
Here's the thing, the point of this is first to be grateful.
(19:08):
That is the first step in contentment.
Ask your blessings or second step of them, I guess, and then be grateful.
Thank God for all of those things and those two things are the key to finding peace, to
finding joy, to finding contentment and when you find that contentment, hold on to it and
(19:31):
don't let go.
You need to start off this year right and remember that while you're waiting for, here's
an example, while you're waiting for your goals to come to fruition at the end of 2025,
(19:55):
whatever your goals may be, you need to start off this year right, prioritize God every
single day, be in your word every day, talk to God every day, find contentment with where
you're at right now and then as you're trying to reach those goals, as you're waiting for
(20:16):
God to bring you whatever or whoever, live with and for Him, be content and have self-discipline.
Those in my opinion should be our three goals for every single year.
(20:37):
Live with and for God, find contentment, hold on to it and then have self-discipline and
that covers every aspect of your life that you could ever imagine, those three things.
Yeah, that was so good.
I wish you guys could see my notes right now because like I said, this is not these episodes
(21:00):
the diary of a worship warrior, these are not episodes where I plan out a whole outline,
I might jot down things that have been on my mind but I do not plan this out.
This is all just me, it's Holy Spirit led babbling, that's literally why I call it that.
All of what I just said was from God and I hope, I know because it was from the Holy
(21:20):
Spirit, I know that someone is going to get something out of this.
So anyway, that's really exciting, maybe it was just me who got something out of it but
maybe there's someone else out there and yeah, peace.
