Thank you so much God for this day. Thank you for every person listening to this episode
(00:06):
I thank you for every single person that has ever listened to this podcast even if it was just one episode or part of an episode
I pray that
Every single person who listens to this that
there would be some seed that is planted in them whether it be encouragement or
Or
(00:28):
Conviction or peace something that just flourishes and
Flourishes into this huge tree God. I pray that this seed would be watered by others
If it's someone that I know directly I pray that I would
Water that seed also God and that
All of us Christians who are truly truly Christians not just not not the ones who proclaim it and not live a God
(00:52):
I pray that the ones those of us who proclaim it and actually
live our life for you and with you and repent when we screw up and and talk to you and
Study your word and listen to you through your word and obey you God
I pray that we would do those things and all of us who do those things God. I pray that we would
(01:13):
Obey you in the fact that we need to check up on the seeds that we're planting and water them God
I
Praying this for myself God. I need this
God, I just want to focus on you today when I'm speaking I want to speak to you
I want you to speak to me. I want you to speak to others and I don't want to hear my own
(01:33):
Words from my flesh God. I want all of that to be suppressed and pushed away and honestly just thrown in the trash God
In Jesus name. I pray amen. Hey guys welcome back to our worship warriors podcast
Good morning, everybody. Welcome back to our worship warriors podcast
(01:55):
Well, I don't know if it's morning for you. It's morning for me right now. It's 615 in the morning
for me
That is so crazy. That's hilarious. I literally almost well, I kind of laughed almost just now. I am NOT a morning person
I hope my mom was this and she would be like
It's 615 in the morning and you're recording this Wow
(02:15):
God really does do miracles
I think that I think every time I record in the morning, it's like wow, that's hilarious
I
This topic today, I'm actually pretty excited for this is something that I
Have been like shouting
(02:36):
The top of my lungs
At least well, not really it just kind of feels like that some days
This is like the message I speak with my life now and it's the best it is probably
I don't know. I might say this about other things from time to time too, but I
Mean I'll say anyway because I feel like this is true
(02:57):
It's just changed my life more than maybe not more than anything but pretty more than almost anything
is this mindset switch and
So I'm really excited about it. And this is just how I live my life. I still kind of
Um, I don't know I still kind of do the opposite of this occasionally like it's still I still struggle at times but
(03:21):
Over nine over nine. Oh, excuse me. I can't speak over 90% of the time
I live my life the way that we're gonna talk about today and so and it's so helpful
It's brought me a lot of peace and it's just makes life so much easier
So we're gonna talk about it. I do want to share it with you guys a passage
I read actually earlier this morning in Proverbs
(03:45):
And it has nothing to do
I mean, maybe God will loop it back around where it does have something to do with what we talked about today
But as far as I know it has nothing to do with
What I mean, I guess it kind of could have something to do what we're gonna talk about today. So it might come up but
Not
Not really
So
We talked in I think it was the very first episode of this season. Yeah guarding your heart. It was
(04:10):
We talked about in the first episode of this season about guarding your heart what that actually means what it looks like
And I gave this analogy of what it looks like
To guard your heart and I gave this analogy of the devil and the the demons like the enemy
Being on the other side of this wall and then there's this wall and then on your side of the wall is your heart and
(04:34):
it's the control box of your emotions and
What flows from your heart to your control box of your emotions is is like is how you it's it's
the way that you act the way you live your life and
What goes into your heart is ultimately going to go to your mind and then it's going to come out of in your actions in your words
And so we need to guard that anyway, so I gave a picture of that. So go listen to that
(04:58):
If you want to I definitely think you should just because that was an analogy that the Lord gave me and I just absolutely loved it
So maybe I'm a little biased, but I really did love it. Anyway, so
This verse kind of backs it up
So I if you listen to that or maybe you didn't and you know what it means to guard your heart and what that looks like
But you're just struggling. Here's a reminder
(05:19):
I read this in
Proverbs chapter 4 this morning and it is verse 23 through
27 and this is the nlt version. So it sounds a lot more simple
Guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life
Avoid all perverse talk stay away from corrupt speech
(05:42):
Look straight ahead and fix your eyes on what lies before you
Mark out a straight path for your feet
Stay on the safe path. Don't get sidetracked. Keep your feet from following evil
23 through 27 these go together and I've read chapter 4 of proverbs before
more than once and
(06:02):
I this is the first time that that really stood out to me that those verses actually go together
And I don't know that I would have noticed it before some people may be like well, no does Sarah
But some of us are like, I don't even know how it goes together explains Sarah
So it says guard your heart above all else for it determines the course of your life. There's the first part of this section
Um that i'm talking about and so that's like the introduction
(06:24):
It's telling you what this paragraph or this section is this this passage is going to be about so then the other verses
literally give just
uh
practical things
for us to to do the act of
These are acts of guarding your heart
If you do these things, then you are guarding your heart by doing these things
(06:46):
Avoid it says avoid all perverse talks stay away from corrupt speech
That is how you guard your your heart in this way
If you are someone who struggles with talking poorly of people or maybe you're saying things that
Um are
Causing other people to stumble and to be pushed further away from god instead of closer to god
You need to be avoiding all of this perverse talk all of this talk
(07:09):
By avoiding this perverse talk perverse talk
You're guarding other people's hearts with what you're saying
But you're also guarding your own heart because you're now by avoiding those things. You're no longer pushing yourself away from god
More or further and further away from him by saying these things you're now getting rid
You're avoiding those things. You're avoiding that talk. You're getting rid of the perverse speech
(07:30):
And in doing so you're actually bringing that perverse talk
You're avoiding that talk. You're getting rid of the perverse speech and in doing so you're actually bringing yourself closer to god because god
his
His space is not a space full of corrupt and perverse speech
It's not
If it was then why would this be in the bible? The bible wouldn't be true
(07:54):
if
Um, if that was the case, he would be a hypocrite by allowing this to be in his word
And god is not a hypocrite if he were a hypocrite, he wouldn't be god. So
By avoiding all these things you're going to be
Um in the long run bringing yourself closer to god. It's just giving you practical steps of guarding your heart
so anyway
(08:15):
There's that I just wanted to share that because that was something we talked about before
Okay, let's move on. We're not going to beat around the bush or anything
We're just going to get straight into the video as usual. All right. So today's topic is
Go with the flow
All right
All right
I cannot tell you how many times
In a week, I think or say these words whether i'm saying them to someone else
(08:40):
Saying them to myself out loud or just saying them in my head
Uh, it's literally a daily thing. I feel like at this point for me or you know, or at least thinking about it is a daily thing
for me
Um, so what do I mean by go with the flow? Well, you're like, well, that's pretty self-explanatory
Sarah go with the flow. Yes, but why is this a topic that I believe is biblical?
(09:04):
Go with the flow letting things here's your definition. So
Listen up folks
Letting things happen as they happen and adapting to each scenario
Instead of stressing or worrying about the change and instead of trying to take control and redirect it back to where you want it
(09:25):
I'm going to say that one more time
because
I am someone who needs you to repeat it at least one more time sometimes
Letting things happen as they happen
and adapting to each scenario
Instead of stressing and worrying about the change and instead of trying to take control and redirect it back to where you want it
(09:45):
Okay
God's got plans that you are involved in that don't always include you knowing what those plans are
Did you hear that god has plans that you are involved in you're involved in these plans
That do not always include you knowing what those plans are
You're going to be doing things according to god's plan
(10:06):
He wants you to do these things and say these things but you may not know what his plan ultimately is
And that's good. And that's okay
Jeremiah 29 11 is a pretty well-known verse
It says for I know the plans I have for you says the lord
They are plans for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope
Listen to that first part for I know the plans I have for you
(10:28):
He's saying I have plans for you
Philippians 1 3 through 7 I give thanks to my god for every remembrance of you always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer
Because of our partnership and the gospel from the first day until now
I am sure of this that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of christ jesus
(10:48):
Indeed it is right for me to think this way about all of you
Because I have you in my heart and you are all partners with me in grace both in my imprisonment and in defense and confirmation of the gospel
Okay, the reason I put this in here for under god has plans that you may not know all the things or whatever
The point of this passage is not the
(11:10):
Second part of my statement here where it says
These plans don't include you knowing about them sometimes
The whole point of this is I want to point out something
This is not about you yet. These plans are not about you
This these plans these this plan that god has for your life this purpose all these things
(11:31):
It's not about you
It's about god
Everything we do and say should be glorifying god. Why because he's god
He's god
Does he love us as he care about us? Yes?
Do we have passions? Do we have desires? Can we have fun in life? Absolutely?
Absolutely
absolutely, but
(11:52):
Our main purpose in this life even those things that we're doing for fun
These you know all the things we're doing should be glorifying god everything that god
Has us doing and everything he does
Is for our good yes, but more than that
Is for our good. Yes, but more so it's for his glory
(12:14):
And if you go back i'm not going to read it again, but if you go back and read this passage
Uh what paul is saying?
paul and timothy, I believe actually what paul and timothy are saying in this
Is I am speaking to you
He's talking paul and timothy are talking about themselves and the people but what are they doing?
(12:35):
I mean every statement you see in this passage is glorifying god
It's glorifying god because it's not about them and they recognize that it's about god god's got plans
That you're involved in that don't always include you knowing what those plans are. He's god
he doesn't have to tell you and honestly, it's better that he doesn't tell you the whole plan most of the time because
(12:57):
You're you
And i'm me
We would say but that doesn't sound fun. Why why does that not sound fun?
Because you live in a world that the devil is just and you're allowing it to as well
Some of us not your fault and some of it is but we are sinful in nature in in our original nature
and so
(13:17):
we
just
start
Going toward the sin why because it sounds fun to our flesh because we are quick fix
Flesh people we are I want this now because that sounds fun
I don't want to have the self-discipline to do the hard things now. I want to do the easy things now
You end up suffering later on if you do the easy things now, but
(13:39):
We don't care in the moment because we're selfish and we're idiots. Honestly, let's be real here. We're idiots
God didn't create us to be idiots
But because we are we have the free will we decided to just be idiots. I mean that's basically the essence of it
It should be glorifying him. We don't need to know the plan because it's not about us
It's about God and he knows what's best for us and he knows what's best for
(14:01):
His main purpose in everybody's lives
Worry and stress need to be thrown out the window. So we're here. We're talking about go with the flow, right?
So we're going to get in as we keep going through this video
and then
All right through this video. Sorry through this episode
You'll be seeing what I'm meaning by go with the flow each thing
(14:21):
I talk about it'll be talk or it'll be revealing what I mean by this even more
So the first part was God's got plans. You don't have to know about it all
The next part is worry and stress need to be thrown out the window
Why am I saying these things?
We need to live our life
(14:42):
In a way that says God you've got this
Whatever comes my way. I'm going to adapt to it
And I'm going to just trust you and yada yada yada. I don't have to have listen to this
I don't have to have control over every situation
I don't have to have complete control over every situation
(15:05):
And that
Should not cause me worry and stress
Because God says that we don't need to worry about things. He's got it. He's God
He's God and he has these plans that will benefit you in the long run benefit others in the long run
And glorify him more than anything else
Worry and stress need to be thrown out the window
(15:29):
Throw it out
You're like well Sarah, it's not it's not a light switch situation here
You can't just stop stressing
Well, you kind of can but there is a process to it. You're right
This process can happen quickly as you practice this more often or it could still take longer for for a while
And that's okay as long as you're being intentional in having self-discipline about
(15:52):
Remembering I need to trust God and not worry your stress over the situation and this is little and big situation
These can be daily things or this could be like a big disaster in your life
What are some things that we can do in the moment?
like when a when a situation arises and you're just overwhelmed and you're stressed or
Anxiety is happening. Maybe you feel an anxiety attack coming on literally or whatever like what what can you do?
(16:15):
There are several things but something that does help me is recognizing the things I do know in this situation
I can't control everything but what I can control are my thoughts
And my actions
But before I have my actions my thoughts my thoughts are what and my emotions turn into thoughts
Remember your thoughts are what you're feeling
(16:36):
My emotions turn into thoughts remember your control box. So guard your heart
Your your emotions turn into your thoughts and your thoughts turn into your words and actions. So how can my words and actions?
be of peace and
um
like
Words and actions that show that I just go with the flow and I can adapt to these scenarios
(16:57):
How can those be like that if my thoughts and my heart are just like running around?
All stressed and anxious how the heck is that going to happen? It's not going to happen. Okay, so
What are some things that help me is?
Thinking about the things I do know in this situation
So like what do I know about god in this situation?
Remember we're glorifying god and god actually is going to be the one to get you through this and pull you out of it
(17:21):
Whatever it is. So what do I know about god in this situation?
Ask yourself questions to calm you down redirect your thoughts and emotions to a more rational state
You have to be rational
What do I know about god in this situation? What can I do to glorify god in this situation?
You know anything else that
You think of like what do I know if you ask those two questions?
(17:43):
That's going to help you tremendously because it's about god it takes the pressure off of you
And it also reminds you
About god and his power and who he is and the things he's done for you. So ask those two questions
What do I know about god in this in this situation?
What can I do to glorify god in this situation and then anything else that you recognize or that you know or whatever about god?
(18:03):
And just about the situation surface level also like
Talk about it and I personally say in your head if you can
All right, no in your head at least but out loud talk about these situations to god
And if someone's talking to you and they're saying something that's causing that's that's leading you to have these anxious feelings or whatever the heck it is
(18:26):
You know you don't have to respond within two seconds
You can take a moment to process
I think people forget that
You can take a moment to process what your answer is going to be in fact
It's going to be better if you do that and if they say are you listening or whatever it is you say hey
Yeah, just just let me process. I'm going to respond. Um
(18:49):
With my full thought here, so I just want to think through it or whatever, you know say whatever but you know, it's not rude
In fact, it's going to show your maturity and it's actually going to make you look better
Not that that matters, but it's really going to make you look more mature and better
and of sound mind and that's
People respect that a lot way more than you realize even if they don't say that they they do people are going to think higher of you
(19:13):
And realize that you are different from the world because you're thinking rationally and processing things. I had a teacher
Back in school. Well, obviously back in school because he was my teacher
But I had a teacher who?
Did this you said a simple question it could literally be
Can you please tell me what 20 times four is well
(19:35):
Not literally because he would probably just answer that but whatever you get the gist like you just ask him simple questions also
And he would just sit there or stand there for like just a few seconds
Sometimes sometimes longer depending on the question and how hard it was and he would you could it's like you could see the gears turning
He was really making sure he had
His whole answer and it was so wise it shows that you have wisdom
(19:59):
And I will never forget that about him because it was just and it's something that stuck with me
And even though I have struggled with this and I still struggle with this. It is something that I see that is
It's just I respect him so much for it something that is needed
especially in our world because we are all people who just are quick to anger and quick to answer and impatient and
(20:20):
And whatever and I think people have been like that for all of time because since the first sin
um
Because that's just
How it works, you know, we when we have a sinful nature we're selfish and so that's part of being selfish
So I think this is a beautiful way to display the fact that you want to be selfless that you desire that is to just
(20:43):
process things
and
So that was a little side note for you
But anyway, so ask these questions and just kind of quickly go through it through your head
If you're in a situation like I was saying and and if they are wondering why you're taking so long
Just say hey, can you give me just a second to process?
Um, give me just a moment and then process it pray pray out your questions in your head or out loud again
(21:05):
I say out loud
But if you're in a situation where someone's there you may not want to do it out loud, obviously
But pray out your questions like ask these questions god. What do I know about you in this situation?
You know and then answer
These questions while you're still asking the questions. So ask the question and start talking about the answer
What can I do to glorify you in this situation?
(21:26):
God then you start listening off the things that you recognize or that you can see that you see how you can glorify him
In this situation, and if you're still not sure
After saying these questions and trying to answer them in your head or whatever
And there's a person saying they're waiting on your response
Well, then just remember that you have the holy spirit inside of you if you truly are a child of god
(21:47):
If you have the holy spirit inside of you, let me remind you that is the spirit of god
That is god inside of you
He will speak through you if you just trust him fully trust him proverbs
three
Maybe it was four no three five
It's a well-known verse trust in the lord with all your heart did not depend on your own understanding
(22:10):
This verse is perfect for situations like this
Don't lean on your own understanding because you're just going to fall you're just going to fall
And it's not going to be great. It's it's going to be bad
And so if you trust in your heart if you say I trust you god, I trust you. Holy spirit
That you are going to guide me convict me help me direct me the right path say help me say the things that I need to say
(22:35):
You trust him in these situations
He's got you don't lean on your own understanding. That's why i'm saying when you process these things you ask these questions
I'm directing you to ask questions about god
in like in relation to the situation not you
In relation to the situation but god
In relation to the situation because why he's got plans not you
(22:59):
He's got plans for your life. We need to familiarize ourselves with scripture
Or have them handy to read over
in these moments of stress and worry
To combat the stress and anxiety
The this is literally how we defeat the devil in our daily struggles
Back to where we see in scripture jesus
(23:21):
in the wilderness 40 days and
The devil comes satan comes and tempts him
I think I laughed the last time I said that too tempts literally tempts the son of like literally tempts god stupid
anyway
What did he do though to combat the devil's temptation he literally just quoted scripture
(23:44):
That's all that's all he did
It's all he did he quoted scripture
What does that tell us?
if jesus who is god
Is just quoting scripture
to turn the devil away
What should we be doing?
Whenever we are tempted with stress and anxiety
Yaz, we should be able to protect ourselves from anxiety
(24:07):
Because Isaiah still says instead of trying to stay back where the devil is
and not knowing they've put us through a dark day
Making it hard for all demons to come
We are sitting here watching is
Three
(24:29):
horas
Using what is inside our daily situation
at Tantrum today, speaking as someone who goes through this, because I have a toddler,
he could be screaming at you and you're just extremely overwhelmed because he's screaming
at you, the music seems louder because you're so stressed so you need to turn off the music
and then there's another kid over here who might be having you who's babbling away and
(24:51):
just all of the noise is just getting to you and then you look in the kitchen to try to
get away, you walk in there but then the sink's overflowing and all of these things, I'm saying
these things because I'm a stay at home mom so I know a lot of you can relate to this
too but whatever it is, you might not have kids, you might not be a stay at home mom
but whatever your situation is, there's a lot happening.
How do you combat?
That is environment, that's an environment that just is inviting stress and worry and
(25:15):
anxiety, it really is, it's inviting it all in there but it's going to happen.
So what do you do?
You need to have scripture handy to combat the devil.
I'm not telling you to memorize word for word, I've talked about this before, I think it
was in the guard your heart, I think it was the guard your heart episode but you don't
have to memorize word for word, it'd be silly for me to say that because there's different
(25:38):
versions out there.
If I said memorize it word for word, what version are you going to choose?
You know what I mean?
But at least familiarize yourself with it, you know, read over a verse often, maybe whenever
you're sitting down and you're having some undistracted time with God and you come across
this verse and you're like that's a great verse.
I think I would definitely need to use that sometime later on today even or whatever.
(26:05):
This is something that I struggle with, a sin cycle I struggle with or whatever, you
know, write that verse down on like a sticky note, like literally paper towel, whatever
the heck you have.
Don't do it on your phone.
I'm just going to say, I mean I guess I can't tell you not to do it on your phone but I
personally don't think that that's smart, I think you need it physically in front of
(26:25):
you or near you so you can grab it because it's just way better, it's just way better.
That's a whole new, that's a different video but any or a different episode.
Anyway I personally don't recommend doing it on your phone or a tablet or whatever.
I recommend doing it on a sticky note or a paper or something like that of the sorts
and I think it handy even.
(26:48):
Read over it often.
If you hang it or set it on the counter maybe then maybe every time you walk to the counter
or set it on your desk at work, you know, maybe every now and then throughout the day
just read it and not just read through it and then look away, like really read it and
think about what it's saying and if you want to memorize it, memorize it but if not at
least just read it often so that it's getting embedded in your mind and in your heart for
(27:13):
these moments and if you can and if you remember to maybe grab it before you leave work, grab
it off your desk, put it in your bag, that way if you come to a stressful moment you
can just pull that sucker out and read it.
You know, combat the devil with scripture.
Combat temptation of worry and anxiety with scripture.
This is key to being able to throw it out the window, to getting rid of it.
(27:39):
Okay, I mentioned earlier you can't control everything.
There are only certain things you can control at all times.
Being a controlling person, in my opinion, is a sin.
You are not God.
You're not God.
Don't try to be.
That might sound harsh, but I am literally someone who struggles with this.
(28:03):
I try to control things.
Ask my husband, I try to control things.
I'm not God.
Why should I be controlling everything when I'm not him?
I shouldn't be.
I have no right, no authority to be controlling everything.
As I should not, we would be screwed if I was the one in control.
(28:24):
Because I'm sinful.
I'm selfish.
Being a proper leader brings righteousness when done in a godly manner, but this is not
being controlling in every situation that comes.
Controlling a situation as best you can is okay when needed, but only if you easily let
go of control when needed.
(28:45):
Let me say that one more time.
Controlling a situation as best you can is okay when it is needed, but only if you easily
let go of control when needed.
Let go of the control.
This is really hard to do.
Again, it's not just a light switch kind of thing.
It doesn't just happen immediately with a snap of a finger.
(29:06):
You've got to start with where you're at.
Start small with letting go, and then get bigger as needed.
When something comes up where you could easily just try to control the whole situation and
whatever it is, start small.
Be like, you know what?
I don't really have to control all of this.
So let's stop.
Let's think it through.
Ask those questions again.
(29:27):
Glorify God with it.
Put your, reset, refocus your heart and your mind on God.
You don't have to control everything.
Start with that.
Allow the Holy Spirit to show you where you can just let go of control in this situation.
How do you do these things?
You can't listen to the Holy Spirit.
You can't hear Him and hear His guidance and see His guidance and see His tips and suggestions
or whatever it is, His conviction, His commands.
(29:50):
You can't see those things if you're not living with God.
This is the moment where you have to be living with God because if you're living with God
and for Him, well, if you're living with God, I should say it like this.
If you're living with God, meaning you are building your relationship with God daily,
often, you're talking to Him, you're listening to Him, you are guarding your heart to where
(30:11):
what's coming into your mind is not things of the world, it's only things of God.
You're doing these things.
You're going to be able to hear the Holy Spirit and see what He's saying.
So that's how, that's the beginning of how to let go of control in these moments.
You have to be able to hear and see the Holy Spirit and see and remember God's principles,
but you won't even know His principles if you're not in His word or if you're not talking
(30:32):
to Him.
You're not allowing Him to talk to you.
Start with where you're at.
Start small with letting go, then get bigger as needed.
Ask God for strength.
Man, this is important.
In order to let go, you have to have self-discipline.
Ask God for strength and self-discipline in this area.
That's one of the hardest parts, guys, having self-discipline because we don't have the
(30:54):
strength on our own to even have the self-discipline to glorify God.
You have to have the strength from God in order to have that self-discipline and in
order to enforce it.
Another thing that I would say is if you're someone who really struggles with being controlling,
if you have trusted people in your life, whether it be a spouse or a best friend or even if
it's just your mom or someone or whatever, maybe preferably someone outside of your family,
(31:18):
like I mean, maybe your husband, yes, but also like if other than that person, I really
suggest a good Christian friend who is not someone who's spaced back and forth, who's
really strong and grounded.
If you struggle with being controlling in situations, ask those friends to help keep
you accountable.
It also needs to be someone who talks to you often and sees you often, though.
(31:41):
So, yeah, but if you don't have that, that's okay.
You don't need need that, but it's definitely something that is very beneficial because
even God speaks of things similar to that in scripture of why we need people.
We need that community to help us and build us up and he uses people like that to really
(32:03):
speak truths into our lives, to direct us in the right way, you know, so that's important.
Ask friends to help keep you accountable.
We're almost done here, so bear with me.
Not everything has to be perfect.
This is so hard for people.
Not everything has to be perfect, but your attitude in everything should reflect the perfect
(32:26):
God in you.
Did you hear that?
That is so good.
Thank you, God.
Your attitude in everything should reflect the perfect God in you, but not everything
else has to be perfect.
Like not the situation doesn't have to be perfect.
Your attitude should be the thing that reflects the perfect God in you, though.
The Holy Spirit is to be the one guiding us and directing us through commands and conviction.
(32:52):
Because you don't know what circumstances are coming your way, literally the only way
not to be overwhelmed and stressed and full of anxiety is to simply just go with the flow.
Like honestly, that's the only way.
If you look at Jesus Christ and his life that we see through scripture when he was here
on earth, did Christ have this schedule that he just stuck to?
(33:18):
Did he have things that he was like, I don't know, just this strict, rigid whatever?
No.
Did everything go perfectly and according to that schedule?
No.
He literally, like he was the epitome of going with the flow.
What did he do?
He jumped from place to place and just told people about his father, about him, about
(33:38):
the Holy Spirit.
He just told people.
He just lived out what we are supposed to be doing.
He just lived out God.
Now am I saying God's going to tell you you need to move from place to place and no Christian
needs to have a house and a yard and a homestead or an apartment?
Like no, I'm not saying that.
You don't have to live in a tent and go place to place.
Some people, some of you are living that life because God is telling you to and that is
(34:01):
amazing.
But my life is also amazing because God is telling me to do what I'm doing.
The whole thing here is just whatever your life as a whole looks like, whether you're
like me a stay home mom, whether you are going, like you're just living in a tent going from
city to city and telling people about God, whether you do live in an office or live in
an office, whether you do work in an office and you work nine to five, it doesn't matter
(34:24):
what your job is, what your life looks like on the surface as long as you are just allowing
the Holy Spirit to guide your whole life.
You're allowing God to tell you, hey Sarah, I really think you just need to go to the
park with your boys today and then I might meet a mom there at the park who needs to
(34:44):
hear about Jesus.
Like I just don't need to have this rigid, strict schedule to where I'm not allowing
God to have all of the room.
Here's the thing, you don't need to leave a little bit of room for God like, oh yeah,
I have all this, but make sure I leave some room for God because he's important.
Guys, are you serious?
God's important, yes, but he is the only important being in your life.
(35:07):
Well, basically, y'all know what I mean, hopefully.
He is not just your top priority, he is your priority.
He should be your priority.
So along with that, it's not leaving a little bit of room in your schedule for God or in
your day or week for God.
Your whole life is an open canvas for God to paint whatever he wants to paint on it.
(35:31):
Gosh, this is so convicting.
So the Holy Spirit is to be the one guiding us and directing us through commends and conviction
because you don't know what circumstances are coming your way.
So go with the flow.
That's how you're not overwhelmed in stress is by going with flow.
Knowing who God is, how powerful he is, how loving he is, that should be more than enough
(35:52):
to give us peace in the moment instead of being anxious or stressed.
Guys, ask yourself frequently, often ask yourself questions.
Who is God?
What are some, and you might think, well, duh, I know who God is.
It doesn't matter.
You need to ask yourself anyway because we are humans.
We need to be reminded of these things.
You are more forgetful than you realize.
(36:12):
Who is God?
What are some powerful things he's done for me and for others?
Think about in scripture, what has he done for me?
What are powerful things that you read in scripture?
If you don't know, if you don't know a lot about the Bible, open it up and find stories.
You know, Google's a great tool to be able to find references for certain things.
Then go to your Bible, open it up and read those references.
Find things of how God has been so powerful and so loving and so compassionate or whatever
(36:36):
it is toward people.
And then also find stories.
Listen, not listen, read stories of martyrs and their lives.
If they're, you know, find those, you know, there are people in history who have just
lived a life for God.
There's books written about them.
People maybe that you've seen in your current life, things that they've gone through where
(36:56):
they just really, you could see the power of God through that situation.
Stories in your life, listen them off, guys.
Think about them.
What are some powerful things he's done for you and for others?
Ask more questions.
Why can I trust him and trust that he's got my back in this situation?
Pray through your questions, guys.
This is also a key.
This is so helpful for me.
Pray through your questions and answer them out loud as you're talking to him.
(37:20):
Guys doing this for me personally, doing that, praying through the questions and answering
them.
It just causes me to feel like this, it causes me to feel like God is just giving me this,
like it feels like this giant hug as I'm talking to him, asking these questions, answering
the questions.
You know, he speaks to you as you're praying as well.
So it just feels like he's giving me this huge hug.
(37:43):
And you may not be a hugger, but getting a hug from God when you're stressed and worried
and overwhelmed and anxious and all of these things, that is what brings you peace.
It really does.
It's like he's just wrapping you up and just holding you.
He's not even saying words sometimes.
He's just holding you.
And you realize as he's holding you, God's got me.
(38:06):
So guys, adapt and let go and let God.
Okay, that's the whole point of this.
The whole theme here is adapt, let go, and let God.
That was so good.
Like, man, this is not me tooting my horn.
This is just, like I said, this has been a theme in my life.
(38:32):
And it's been a big one.
I've had people comment on how relaxed I am as a mom.
And those of you who maybe aren't a mom or aren't around kids a lot or whatever, you
may not realize how big of a deal that is.
But that's a big deal because there are many moms and dads who are not relaxed.
They're not relaxed.
(38:55):
They're not chill.
They're overwhelmed all the time.
They're stressed.
They're very fast paced.
They don't slow down and just sit in the presence of God.
And that's a problem.
It's a big problem.
I used to be someone who would get worked up easily and would just rush around.
And God really changed me a lot.
(39:16):
A lot.
And I still have moments like that, but they're very far and few in between now.
And I'm so grateful to God for that because He has just really helped me through that
struggle.
I used to have anxiety.
I would have anxiety attacks.
This topic is really something that I can actually relate to.
(39:37):
So I'm not just preaching at you.
I'm basically telling you about my own experience.
And so just hear that through this and just know that you're not alone.
This is hard.
All of these things are hard.
Just letting go of things is so hard.
Going with the flow, just saying, oh well, my kid just vomited and it got all over me
(40:00):
and it got all over the toys and whatever.
And then at the same time over here, the dishwasher broke or whatever.
Whatever it is.
There's several things happening.
If you just sit there for a moment, breathe and you're like, okay, God, let's just slow
down.
What do I know about the situation?
All right, cool.
You know what?
(40:21):
At least I can be a good example to my kids today about what it means to not overreact
and not get overwhelmed and to just have joy in the moment.
You know what?
God is so good and we can still have a good day and our attitude can be a whole thing.
And we just need to talk to God and allow Him to bring us peace and bring us joy and
we can still have a little dance party later or whatever.
(40:42):
Maybe we can have a treat later.
I don't know, whatever.
Let's just clean this up and sit down for a minute and chill and then we'll move on
with our day.
You know how much peace that has brought me?
So much.
And the more you practice this in your day to day life with the little situations, the
easier it is to just, like it's almost second nature to just be able to move on, you know,
(41:03):
as time goes on.
And then along with that, the more you practice this in the daily situations, the weekly situations,
then when those huge situations like the life altering situations arise, you're going to
be more inclined to be able to just go with the flow in those situations because you practice
this daily and weekly with the small things.
(41:24):
Alright, that's all I've got for you guys today.
I know this was pretty long and I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry at the same time.
I hope that you really enjoyed this and that you got a lot out of it, whether it be encouragement
or maybe some insight about some things or God maybe convicted you through some things.
He definitely reminded me of some things for sure throughout this, like the controlling
(41:47):
part.
Like I said, I really struggle with that.
Again, I say this a lot, but I ask my husband, I really do.
My poor husband has to deal with all of this.
But anyway, yeah, so I hope you guys have a wonderful rest of your week whenever this
comes out.
Not sure.
And yeah, make sure you go witness to someone.
(42:07):
Share God's love with someone, whether it be just through an act of kindness, through
praying for them, through just speaking a word of encouragement or whatever, you know,
maybe giving them a little gift and saying, hey, I just wanted to tell you that God put
you on my heart this week and I love you and I just wanted to give you this.
You know, whatever it is, something small, something big.
God loves you guys.
Peace.
