My special guest is Jessica A. Harris, an astrophysicist whose love for astronomy was born under the night skies of her childhood camping in Oregon. From there, her universe expanded as she studied at Grambling State University in Louisiana and worked her way toward a Master’s degree at Fisk University. Even though Jessica was on track to a PhD, she shifted her focus, realizing her true passion lies in guiding underrepresented students in the STEM field. Today, Jessica is more than just an astrophysicist, she's an advocate championing for the potential hidden within the hearts of aspiring scientists.

🎙️ Key Takeaways:

- 🌟 It's essential to seek out programs that support underrepresented students in pursuing STEM degrees, as they can provide valuable financial assistance and mentorship opportunities.

- 🚀 Jessica's passion for STEM education and outreach highlights the impact of representation and mentorship, emphasizing the need for genuine allies and supportive programs.

- 💡 The discussion on the James Webb Space Telescope underscores the significance of pursuing passion and exposing more students, particularly from underrepresented communities, to the wonders of astronomy and STEM fields.
