Speaker 1 (00:23):
Today we're going to talk about a couple of different
resources.
I'm going to talk about myfavorite, favorite, favorite
resource, which a lot of peoplesleep on.
So if you're not familiar withthe MWR Digital Library, you're
going to learn today.
And then we're going to touchbase on just some different
opportunities.
We have quite a few folksjumping on the call before we

(00:44):
kick off.
Just note ACMA Education is a501c3 nonprofit.
All the funds that we receiveand get 100% of it goes back to
the military community.
Everyone on my team isvolunteers so, including myself,
no one's paid on our staff.
This is what we do becausewe're passionate with it, so

(01:05):
please keep that in mind whenyou reach out to us or you need
something.
It's not like we have afull-time team supporting this
endeavor.
It's more so like whatever timewe can do this or however we
can do this, we try to put ourenergy and effort to it.
I do spend a lot of hours doingthis, but overall, collectively
, I still got a full-time dayjob, still got full-time

(01:28):
businesses that I'm running, myfamily and then anything else
that I'm working on to includeACNA education.
So we're going to put out aquick survey just so you can
understand what we got.
So if you're a first-timeattending, please let us know.
If you're a pre-offender, shoutout to repeat we need a repeat
offender t-shirt.
We need a repeat offendert-shirt, we need a repeat

(01:48):
offender t-shirt and a loyalattendee t-shirt.
We need to get those two uh inthe mix.
Some act now t-shirts, um, uh,so I think that would be dope,
uh.
And then, yeah, let us know.
We got a lot of veterans in thebuilding.
Shout out to all the veterans, veteran veteran spouses.
We got a few National Guard, afew Reservists.
Got some active duty in thebuilding.

(02:10):
Good, good, good, that'sawesome.
And then everyone just want toknow what resources can help
them upskill.
Some people are looking for jobopportunities.
That's good, that's awesome.
Let me just do a quick rollcall.
Do we have Nolan on the chat?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Don't see him, let me just type in I'm here.
Sorry, I was trying to get mymic on, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Awesome Is Vertforce in the building.
Today, katie's here.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Hi Jay.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Okay, awesome and then is it.
Vets in Tech is vets in techdoing something today?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
no, no, okay, we can post, we can talk about that
talk to links.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
All right, you'll talk to links.
All right.
So the order will be we willtouch base with katie and you'll
hear from Burt Force, thenyou'll hear from Amazon, from
Nolan, from Amazon, then Anwarwill talk a bit about Vets in
Tech and then I'll get into theresource of the day, essentially

(03:19):
learning more about MWR DigitalLibrary, and on the hour, if
we're good at it, we will sharethe resources for the Coursera
account, give you access to theSplunk and then the Career
Compass.
Today we're going to dosomething a little bit different
from Career Compass, so we'regoing to try something new, just

(03:40):
to see if it works.
If it doesn't, then we'll goback to our own process.
But I just want to testsomething out and then we'll go
from there.
All right, right, cool, starting off with Katie, you're
up on first.

Speaker 5 (03:51):
Awesome.
Hi, jay, hi everybody, thankyou for having me.
I am Katie Castillo, thecommunity expert at VertForce,
and for those of you who don'tknow who we are, vertforce is a
military spouse owned andoperated company and our entire
purpose is helping militaryspouses, veterans, other
military-affiliated members tofind remote or portable careers.

(04:15):
We do that through resources, employer events, educational
events, tips, resources, all thethings and, first and foremost,
a job board.
So we have a job board.
I'm going to drop some links inthe chat for you.
I usually just like kind ofthrow them all out there for you
at once, just because it makesit easier.
So I'm going to put those inthe chat for you.

(04:35):
Hopefully it goes.
But we have a job board.
So that's jobsvertforceus.
It is a free job board.
Everything we do is free formilitary spouses, veterans,
everybody.
But we have a job board.
It is a private job board, sonot just any job can post on
there.
They're all vetted, legitimatejobs with military-friendly
employers.

(04:55):
But you do have to make anaccount there so you can see all
of the job postings.
If you don't make an account, you'll only see like a little
snippet of them.
So make sure that you do makean account so you can see all of
the jobs.
So we've got those on there.
You can browse those.
We've got all the informationyou could need on there.
Hopefully you don't needanything else from there, but if

(05:16):
you do, you can always reachout to us.
We're happy to help.
We have a Facebook group wherewe share networking tools and
resources, tips Great place forcrowdsourcing much like the
ActNow community as well.
Um, you can join there.
If you have questions aboutjobs, that's a great place to
ask about that.
Um.
Couple events that I wanted tomention today that we have
upcoming Um.

(05:36):
We have a Home Buying 101 classcoming up on August 26th.
Um, this is like I said, all ofour resources are free, so this
is a free class for you guys.
It's a great, um great chanceto talk to experts.
We're going to go throughbasically like from start to
finish on steps for home buying,a roadmap for you,
misconceptions, common homebuyer mistakes, how to avoid

(05:58):
them, things like that.
Plus, there will be Starbucksand Stanley giveaways at that
live event.
And then on September 18th, wehave another employer event
coming up.
It's Coffee and Connect withImagine360.
If you don't know whoImagine360 is, they are a very,
very, very military-friendly,remote-first healthcare company.

(06:18):
So there's obviously going tobe some clinical positions that
they have, since they are ahealthcare company.
But they do have lots of otherroles as well customer tech,
everything like that.
So we're going to be doing anemployer event with them.
They're going to behighlighting a few available
roles that they have, talkingabout what the company is.
You get a chance to talk to therecruitment team, which is
pretty awesome.
There will be Starbucks giftcard giveaways at that event.

(06:41):
And then the last link you'llsee that I posted is our YouTube
.
We go live on our YouTube everysingle week to talk about jobs,
events and resources, tips, things like that.
But if you are looking for jobsor you're looking for
information on how to get yourLinkedIn going, if your resume
tips whatever it is we share aton of videos on that YouTube.

(07:01):
It's a great place to find moreinformation, get resources and
get yourself ready for the jobsearch.
So I'm not going to take up anymore of your time.
I'm going to drop those linksone more time.
If you guys do have questions, feel free to reach out in the
chat.
I'll be hanging out in therefor a little while and I hope to
see you all at our upcomingevents, so thank you for having
me.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
Thank you, katie, for your assistance and thank you
for sharing your information andresources.
Make sure you connect with vertforce, like I said they're,
with what?
Everything that's going on inthe current job market.
It is good to have options.
Um, there are very few and farbetween opportunities to do
remote work.
Um, as this whole return backto the office, uh, um, focus is

(07:45):
happening.
So if you are very interestedin that, make sure you have them
listed, bookmarked and dialedin.
All right, enough of that.
On to the next one.
Now we have Nolan from AmazonAWS and he will be talking about
opportunities that, if you areinterested in, are ready for you
right now.

(08:05):
So make sure you have your penand paper and you're able to
take some notes or follow thelinks that he drops as he shares
those for his spiel.
So, nolan, the floor is yours.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Okay, appreciate it.
Really excited to be here asAWS, amazon, continues to focus
on military and military spousetalent.
So my name is Nolan Evans.
I am a recruiter at AWS,specifically in the data center
space.
Data center space is super hotright now as we continue to

(08:38):
build out data centers globallyand across the country, really
powering artificial intelligence.
That's really.
The new focus is on the cloudcomputing for AI.
Three main roles that we hirefor is our engineering
operations technicians.
They are the buildingmaintenance people.

(08:59):
They do all the power systems, mechanical systems, all the HVAC
systems.
So we have great success hiringformer military, know former
military, like Navy nukes, electricians, mates, machinists,
mates a lot of success hiringpeople out of the aviation
mechanic you know field.
So that is one job that we havea big push, especially in the

(09:23):
Northeast Virginia Baltimorearea.
And we do utilize people withclearance also.
So a lot of our data centers arein what's called GovCloud and
require that people that work inthe building have either a top
secret or even there isfacilities where the requirement
is top secret with a full scopepolygraph.
So we definitely have positionsthat you can utilize security

(09:45):
clearance if you already havethat.
We also have our infrastructuredelivery technicians.
So they are responsible fordoing all the server installs
and rack installs and a lot ofthe networking side of things.
I've had a lot of successpulling, you know, people
transitioning from positionsthat were relevant, you know, in
IT spaces, in the military.

(10:06):
And then also we have our DCOtechnicians.
They are the hardware break-fixteam, so another IT-based field
where they're troubleshootingall the servers, routers,
switches, things like that.
Again, both those roles too.
We do utilize people withtop-secret clearance and
top-secret with a full-scopepoly Not a requirement but

(10:34):
certain facilities.
Again, we do have thoseopportunities and the
compensation does go up whenyou're utilizing your security
clearance.
So the best thing to do ifyou're interested or know
someone that's interested, I'mgoing to drop my LinkedIn
profile, also my email, and youcan just email me directly if
you would Just reference ActNow.
That way I can kind of reportback to Jay on any success we're
having with candidates that areutilizing his services that

(10:57):
were connected through him.
So appreciate the time andthanks again, jay.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Absolutely.
And please know, folks, we aredoing this because we care about
the community.
There is no kickback, there isno hook us up.
There's more so, like I'mtrying to help you get jobs and
opportunities and dig in mynetwork and see who can help you
no-transcript and it helps megauge whether or not we should

(11:36):
continue working with thecompany, and so I'll give you an
example TechSystems.
Techsystems by far has hired themost people from the ActNow
community that I know of.
The second to that is Microsoft, and then I don't know what the
third company would be, buttech systems by far like time
and time again, and the salariesrange from anywhere between

(11:58):
like 90 K to 240 K.
And so when we work withorganizations like that, it
helps me understand like, okay,I will put more effort in.
You know, establish thatrelationship so that we can
bring you organizations likethat.
It helps me understand like, okay, I will put more effort in,
you know, establish that inrelationships so that we can
bring you folks like that.
So AWS VertForce has hiredfolks as well.
So make sure you touch basewith these organizations, find
out what opportunity they haveand then go from there.

(12:20):
All right, Anwar.
What do we have or what isgoing on in the vets in tech
space?

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Not a whole lot, all right okay, no, but uh, you know
, basically for vets in tech, you know steve marlois sometimes
comes and he shares someclasses and opportunities, but,
um, I'll drop his linkedin here.
You know, this is anotherorganization that we like to
support because they haveresources for education,

(12:58):
employment and entrepreneurship.
Okay, so just get on theirwebsites and usually they're,
you know, especially here, withthe steve always sharing a link.
It's for somebody who's tryingto learn about aws.
They have classes for aws.
Um, security plus courses foranybody who's trying to get
their security pluscertification.

(13:19):
It will pay for your voucher, for your test voucher for that,
so you don't have to come out ofpocket for it.
And you know, pmp he wasmentioning pmp last time.
I don't know if their coursesare full or not, but anyway, his
email is going to be posted inthe chat right now and then also

(13:43):
just hit him up for anythingelse about employment.
They have access to platformcalled Upline where you can just
create your profile and they'realigned to your military rank
and years of experience with MOSand everything like that, and

(14:03):
there's jobs that are postedthere, namely also Amazon and
AWS and whatnot.
But of course, sometimes whenyou're hooked up with someone,
you can go straight to thesource, so you can also DM or
connect with Nolan, for example, somebody else like this, and
he's, you know, just mentionedActNow and he's going to know

(14:25):
you and you already gotsomething of a conduit.
Okay, but this is all differentresources that you can leverage
in order to get some type ofgood position.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Absolutely Speaking of that, nolan, if you have, I
know you already did, but canyou drop your LinkedIn in the
chat so that people can connectwith you via linkedin as well?
All right, all right, folks, the moment you all been waiting
for, um, actually, let me sharethis first and then I'll go into

(14:58):
, uh, the resource.
So here is.
This is the rundown for today.
So majority of you are firsttimers, so that's good.
I'm glad you guys are here.
You're in the right place.
You're going to learn something.
I promise that.
And then, like I said, veteransare coming in strong, so shout

(15:22):
out to all the veterans in thespace.
Like I said, we will talk aboutsome skills and I'll touch base
on some of these things.
We will talk about some skillsand I'll touch base on some of
these things.
I'm going to give you a kind ofa hint.
Or, if you are interested intaking advantage of some certs,
we have some search programsthat we're currently working on.

(15:43):
One of them is an AI programthat is focused on compliance.

(16:06):
As AI expands, there is a largebody of how, does you know you
develop a pathway where you canrely on it, not necessarily like
the hallucinations of AI andgetting incorrect data and
feedback.
So there is a CERT program thatwe are pretty much going to be
dropping, are pretty much goingto be dropping, I want to say,

(16:34):
towards third quarter, fourthquarter, it's going to be
roughly around Novembertimeframe, november, october
timeframe and it's going toallow you to go through a series
of certifications all for free.
This is the best part.
It's all free, but we only have500 opportunities to do this.

(16:56):
That opportunity will only beshared in our newsletter
no-transcript newsletterlearning about those types of

(17:18):
certifications.
You will also see and I'm kindof like the cat out of the bag,
but you will also see the CSM,the product owner certification,
in there too.
So we're offering up some slotsfor the one that we're having
in September and that will beshared in the newsletter.
So if you are Scrum certifiedand you're interested in trying

(17:40):
to knock out your product ownercertification at no cost, it's a
good way to do it.
Join that newsletter and then, lastly, you can share this with
anybody.
If you are looking for directaccess to Career Compass, we
also have a direct link in there.
It's very different from how wedo it here, where you sign up,

(18:01):
you fill out your information,we create your account.
That's just the way we do it onthe.
On the um we can't do that, butwith the code thing on the
newsletter.
So what we do is we share alink to it and you just have to
create your own account.
Um, just as long as informationis correct, it'll get processed
and you'll you'll be able toaccess it and so benefits of of
being a part of what we do andhow we do it.

(18:23):
Every day we try to expand, every day we try to get better.
So that's just something tokind of share with you guys.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
All right now let's go into for everybody else right
now who's just excited aboutthis newsletter and wants to
sign up for it.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
I didn't tell them how to sign up for it.
You just go to act noweducation website and wait a few
seconds.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
It'll pop up there there's gonna be a pop-up that
unless you disable your pop-ups,yeah, if you disable your
pop-up, you won't see it, yeahbut otherwise you can sign up
for the newsletter right thereabsolutely laurie bell.
She said the newsletter isawesome.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
So hey, take it from somebody who just read it and uh
run with it yeah, yeah, we wejust to give you an example like
our newsletter is not likeeverybody else's newsletter.
We're doing it intentionallyLike you can actually get things
from the newsletter other thanjust reading about things.
So we'll have stuff that youcan learn about.

(19:20):
But on top of that we'll alsohave opportunities for you to
take advantage of so that youcan really help move you along
in your career.
So there's that.
All right, this resource ishands down.
Like I said, one of my favoriteresources that's out there.
It's called the DOD MWR Library.
A lot of people sleep on it.

(19:40):
If you are a retiree, you willhave access to this.
If you're active duty, you'llhave access to this.
If you're active duty spouse, you'll have access to this.
And I'll kind of go over this.
This resource is a bunch ofresources kind of put together
in a collection to be able tosupport whatever your needs are.

(20:03):
A lot of people pay forgenealogy related information
and data.
You don't have to, because it'shere for free.
You can access Ancestrycom.
You can access Fold, which isanother kind of like.
It's pushed by Ancestrycom, butit specifically focuses on
military records records.

(20:23):
So if you have family membersthat have been in the military
who have now passed on.
You can look up their records, figure out when they serve,
where they served, how much timedid they spend in the military,
and then, if there were anywars, it'll have the information
in there as well.
And so these resources are atno cost.
All you have to do is sign upand get access to them.

(20:45):
But just think about it, thesedo cost money outside of the
site.
So if you actually go toAncestrycom, you can expect to
pay money, but these are freehere.
Okay, on top of that, you have abunch of eBooks and audio books
that you can tap into.
I'm not going to go through theeBooks and audio books, but
there's a lot that you can go in.
There's Children's Corner thatyou can download books as well,

(21:07):
that they can read books eitherto whatever device you want to
use.
I've used the e-book aspect toread the PDF version of books
when I was forward deployed tohelp me out that way because I
didn't have a library.
So I just use that to kind ofhelp me get the digital copy of
whatever it is.
But you'll read it on whateverapp it is, so you can't take it
off that app.

(21:28):
They got newspapers andmagazines.
They have everything fromMorningstar to National
Geographic to Wall StreetJournal.
You have to understand like allof these things cost money and
all these things have differentresources that can help you in
wherever you're trying to do inyour career.
If you are focused on learningmore about you know what's going

(21:51):
on in the global spectrum andyou're trying to be better at
understanding how tech businessaffects overall world, the
Economist is perfect for you.
If you just want to go throughdigital magazines, the Overdrive
Collection has a bunch ofdigital magazines and foreign
policy, like I said, worldstreet journal.
They have national geographicand all this stuff is at no cost

(22:13):
and really good to be able toutilize.
And we still haven't even gotto the best part yet.
This is um kind of slow rollingin here, but just to let you
know that these are reallyreally good resources and I
haven't even touched the bestaspect yet, right, yeah, science
and technology in here.
So if you're interested to doresearch, if you are in school
or currently taking a class, theGale Science and Research or

(22:38):
the Gale Library, like it'llhelp you pull up different
information.
I actually use this for one ofmy one of my master's degrees my
thesis because it was asked andin my thesis you had to come up
with like a counter argument.
And so I searched on here andit was actually a bunch of
different counter arguments fordifferent topics, and I had
never seen that on any platformwhere they'll take someone's

(23:02):
opinion and then have a counterargument for it.
Now, I mean, you can use AI forthat as well, but it had
directly sourced to differentarticles and different papers,
research papers, and so it wasextremely helpful to have that,
and so I'm a big fan of Gale.
It's phenomenal.
Then we got the children'scorner right, and so you got

(23:26):
BookFlixora.
You got humble bees middleschool, elementary, national
geographic true flicks.
Uh, tutorscom.
This is a live tutor that willsit with your children for 30 to
40 minutes teaching them on aparticular topic.
I use use this to get throughmy bachelor's degree because I

(23:49):
was writing a lot of papers andI wanted someone to verify, like
look at my papers, and that'swhat they did.
Let me see if I can log in so Ican show you guys, it is legit.
Do I got to do this whole thing?
Yeah, I got to do my DOD ID.
No, no, I don't want to do this.
I want to go directly to tutors, so I don't need to do this

(24:10):
aspect.
But when you do this, essentially I'll bring you to
this page and I'll say provideyour DOD ID and your birthday
and submit, and then you getauthorization If you want to
find out whether or not you haveaccess.
This is who has access to it soactive duty military, members of
reserve components and nationalguards, retired military,
including reserve and nationalguards, medal of Honor eligible

(24:32):
family members who are official, who have official sponsored IDs
, and then DOD Coast Guardcivilians.
So all those folks have accessto this, this, this resource.
But let me go to I'm just gonnabring it up here tutors no,

(24:54):
tutorscom, military.
You don't want to go to theregular version because that's
not the.
This one is for us, the onethat says military.
There's tutorscom, which youwill pay for, and it's this one
that doesn't cost any money.
All right, so sign in.

(25:16):
Let me see if my link, my signin, is still good.
Let's see.
Oh, we in there like swimwear.
Look, I haven't used thisaccount in a minute, so I'm
happy I still got All right, andit's asking me to save my
account.
Let me go back.
So I want to show you this.
So, just so you can understand, this is my locker and in your
locker these are all the essaysyou worked on, and so these are

(25:39):
all the essays that got reviewed.
So if you look back, 59 monthsago was when I was in my
master's degree program Well, no, probably further than that and
all of these papers.
Imagine having someone help youwith your paper and I'm not
talking about AI, I'm talkingabout like an actual person that
you can have a dialogue withand then you can have them read

(26:00):
it and they can say well, thisis what I think you mean from
this topic.
But these are the directionsthat you can kind of go and it
doesn't even matter.
Like it's, it's a whole bunch, but this is all of my papers
that I've essentially gotthrough my, my, my master's
degree with um I mean mybachelor's degree and my
master's degree.
Correction, all right, but thisis what you can go through.

(26:22):
So if you're looking for a tutor, you come in here, you click on
a topic.
You could say math, science, english reading, social studies,
world languages, computersubjects, business, nursing,
advanced placement for APclasses, act, psat, sat, life
skills, study skills, parenting, and then GED.
So if you're looking for any ofthese topics, I'm just going to

(26:44):
click on math, study skills, parenting and then GED.
So if you're looking for any ofthese topics, I'm just going to
click on math, for example, andthen I can click on the grade
in here anything fromkindergarten to college to
adults and then the subtopicsright here so you can pick on
the actual topic.

(27:04):
So if I'm like doing atrigonometry class or I'm doing
calculus or discrete math orinfinite math, I can do that.
I can add a video here or add afile here that says whatever
the problem I'm working on andthey'll bring a tutor for that.
If you are good at being a tutorand like, and you have some
like experience, you can also bea tutor for the platform.
I personally know that if youare a chemistry tutor, they get

(27:24):
paid roughly about $1,500 amonth to do tutoring.
I don't know about any otherfield, I just know, because I
ran into a chemistry tutor whowas on this platform and he he
says I think chemistry tutorsget paid the most.
Um, but I don't.
That was like maybe a fewmonths back.
All right, but if I wanted toget let's say, if I'm looking
into business right, gotbusiness in here, got different

(27:47):
classes for business, all uhintro classes to help you
understand that if you are doingworld languages, grammar,
writing and readingcomprehension, if you are doing
and, like I said, this is alsofor you and your kids, not just
your kids as well, this is youand your kids if you have access
to the platform.
Um, so my daughters were usingthis and, as you can see, here's
my tutors.

(28:07):
I have my list of favoritetutors I had down here, just
based off of my sessions workingwith them, and what other
topics let's see.
Let's go to science.
You just look at the scienceand you get the different topics
in here.
So really really good, reallygood resource.

(28:29):
It's free.
I would highly recommend youuse it.
They even have coding in here.
So if you're trying to figureout your issue with coding,
there's a C++ which is old.
C is old.
They don't have Python in here, but they do have Java,
microsoft PowerPoint if you needhelp with that and Word or
Access.
Those things are in there.

(28:54):
This is if you want to plan fora future session.
You can set that up.
If you just want to drop offyour paper for review, that's
what I did.
I would just drop my paper off,say exactly what I'm looking
for, and then I would come backand within 12 hours and my paper
would be, you know, redlinedand a bunch of comments on it so
I can start working on it.
If I'm trying to go get mydaughters into college, there's
some admission help for thereand then test prep.

(29:14):
So we have practice exams forSAT, act, lsat, mcat, gmat and
then AP, nclex for the nursesout there.
So you have a bunch ofresources and they're all for
free.
We haven't even gotten into thebest part, but this is why MWR
Digital Library is one of myfavorite resources.

(29:37):
Let me go back.
You got all that stuff highclass, different classes that
you can learn.
Let's go back.
We were here.
Now let's get to the meat of itand continuing education, where
I spend majority of my time.
Like I said, you have thetutors down here.
You have blue careers.
Blue careers helps you findjobs, um, and job resources.

(29:58):
Uh, mango languages.
If you want to learn language, mango languages is on here for
free that you can learn language.
You can get access to over 70different languages and learn
critical skills over, and so itgoes directly to your phone.
You can practice on it day in,day out, easy day.
O'reilly Media is my go-toresource.

(30:21):
Now there are different toolsthat you can use to study and
prepare for your certificationexams, depending on what you're
trying to do.
This one has been, like I said,go-to.
I have to use this or Udemy, and hand-in-hand back and forth.
Coursera is good, but Courserais really focused on the

(30:41):
institution-based training.
So if an organization orcollege is providing you
training on PMP or somecertification, it's related to
their curriculum.
Whereas O'Reilly is focused onthe exam, udemy is focused on
the exam and providing youadditional content to help you
pass Right, and so I'm going toclick on O'Reilly so you can see

(31:03):
what that looks like.
This is it.
This is us being in here, right?
And so, o'reilly, when youclick on it, you come in here.
You can either explore skillsso if you're interested in you
know, computer, cloud computing, data science, data engineer,
aiml, program, languages it'sall in here broken down.
You could just do startlearning.

(31:24):
You can go to the live events, interactive learning courses,
certification or books, so youcan actually just say I want to
prep for a certification.
Say somebody give me acertification that they want to
work on.
That's technical, let me see.
Let me bring up the chat realfast.
Security plus.
All right, security plus it is.

(31:44):
So I'm going to come in here, click on that.
As you see, there's a list ofdifferent certifications in here
.
I can come here, go to thevendor, I can click on CompTIA
and then I can say Security Plusit's down there, right.
And then I can did I click onit?

(32:05):
Yeah, I did click on it, allright.
And then I can say format.
All of this is differentformats so I can ask for a book
related to it.
I can get a certification guide.
I'm going to click on the guidebecause I'm going to show you a
quick hack Guide is the truthPractice test video and stuff
like that.
So if you want to click oncertification guide right, click
on this.
What the guide has.

(32:38):
The guide has all of that inone Right.
So if I had to just focus laserin for a week or two on one one
particular, you know resource, this is a good resource to do it
.
So you have, you know, comptiaSecurity Plus the class, and
this is just a live intro on theclass.
This is coming up so you canjump on this class 11 and 12.
It's from noon to four, right?
So even if you don't knowanything about Security Plus.
You got a class that you'reabout to enroll in for free,

(32:59):
that starts in a few days, thatyou can knock out right, and
then you can follow back up withthe crash course, right, which
is happening at the end of themonth.
So you can take what you'velearned here, take some good
notes right, study the materialthat you've been studying and
then at the end come back andtake another class and like,
okay, is this resonating with me?

(33:20):
Did I learn enough?
Did I get the stuff that Ineeded to get right?
And then you have this, thecomp t is sec plus.
This is the 27 hourinstructional video.
And you see, this is all syo701, which is the latest uh,
security plus.
And so you got differentresources that you can use all

(33:41):
under one, not paying any moneyfor this um, and you can kind of
prepare yourself for anycertification that's out there,
and it's going to best help giveyou a leverage or upper hand on
it, right.
So I got this, this class I'dtaken.
Then I went back to take thisclass and then now I have the
on-demand course that I'm goingto take in between that.
And then I got thecertification exam, cram, which

(34:03):
is a book that's going to helpme build my confidence.
I can finish that video notbook, but a video.
I can get through that video inan hour and 34 minutes.
And then I'm going to gothrough the SERP guide for
CompTIA and then I'm going tohit the total course that goes
through every single thing again.
That's another 20 hours that Igot.
And then I'm going to hit thetop CompTIA Security Plus
Practice Test, 3rd Edition.

(34:24):
A bunch of different pages onthere.
I can click on that, go throughthe questions, slowly,
understand it.
By that time I should have agood understanding of the topics
.
I should have a goodunderstanding.
Nothing should surprise me,it's just more so refining my
skill set so I can be able topass this exam.
And then I'll get into thethird edition, another book
that's 634 pages.
I don't know if I need all that, but I do have that as an

(34:46):
option.
And then I'm going to go downto another book, right, which is
, and I'll probably.
At this point I'm just goingthrough the exams, the practice
exams, and I'm trying to getfamiliar with making sure that
there's something I don't know.
I can double back on that.
And then, lastly, the Pearson'spractice test.
I can tell you for personalexperience these tests are a lot

(35:06):
harder than the actual exams.
So if you score like a 50 on aPearson's practice exam, be
prepared because you're going toblow that test out of the water
.
Their tests are a lot harder.
In my experience I've alwaysbeen like damn, I'm not ready to
take this test whatsoever.
And then I end up taking a testand I blow it out of the water.
I'm like man.

(35:27):
That Pearson test had menervous.
So if you do really well, thenyou're ready to go.
But imagine that.
Now think about this.
Let me see from the chat Do youthink you have better odds of
passing an exam if you're usinga resource like this?
Put in the chat, let me know.
Put a.
Put a yes in the chat, put a no, or if you don't believe so.

(35:49):
So this is the reason why, like, knowledge is so important,
because you just don't know whatresources are out there that
can really impact or change yourcareer and help you align.
One thing to note uh, if youare like I don't know for other
services, I do know the Navy hasa way that you can also get

(36:11):
this outside of the MWR digitallibrary.
Um, but also if you are like apart of the federal government,
typically most agencies haveprograms where you can get it.
So, like the agencies that Iwork at, where I have worked at,
they have all had programswhere I can actually get access
to the digital not the digitallibrary, but O'Reilly Media

(36:33):
directly and I can startstudying for exams, and so they
used to have something calledSafari where you get access to
it, but then it switched up, soI don't know what it is now, but
understand that thisinformation can be extremely
impactful if you use itcorrectly and you use it for
exam.
That way, you're not taking andspending time trying to look at
YouTube university to not sayingthere's nothing wrong with

(36:55):
YouTube, but YouTube is YouTube,right?
You, you, you you'll study orlook at one video and then five
hours later you end up watchingsome troll video uh of troll
video, of them doing a song anddance and you're like how the
hell did I get to the trollvideo from studying?
It's just the way that YouTubealgorithm works.

(37:16):
It just distracts you to keepyou on YouTube watching
something else that has nothingto do with what you came on
there for and you totally forgotwhat you were there, for I
don't know if anyone's been ondown that road, but I've been
down that road many a times.
I'm like came there to studythe vietnam era and then I end
up on, uh, watching somethingabout denzel washington in the

(37:37):
news, or something like that.

Speaker 9 (37:38):
How did I get here?

Speaker 1 (37:39):
I was.
This is crazy youtube, but so,if you're interested, use it has
a lot of certifications, mainlytechnical certifications.
So I will caveat that they dohave SHRM, so HR certifications,
but the list goes on.
Let me go back to the cert, soyou can see, but these are all

(38:00):
the different certificationvendors and, like I said you can
tell, most of them are mainlymainly, you know, technical
certifications.
We got Scrum in here, so weclick on Scrum.
You got some guides andinformation in here that you can
use as well.
So take advantage of that Easyday.

(38:21):
And then, if you look as well,if you're trying to do the
Splunk right, because we haveaccess to Splunk, well, if
you're trying to do the splunkright because we have access to
splunk, you could take theirpractice certification user,
which is a cert that we providefor free.
Um, they got a practice exam inhere, so before you actually
take it, you can study here, take the exam here and then see
how well you do, all for free.

(38:42):
Uh, yeah, cssp is on here aswell.
So if you wanted to go to uhic2, you can come in here and
click on cssp and it's in here.
It's all the same stuff.
All this, uh, and I'll.
I'll even let me show you theguide for this.
Which one is the guide?
I want the guide.
I'm gonna put you on game realfast.

(39:05):
Uh, who was that person thatasked for that, maurice?
So let me put you on game realfast.
Who was that person that askedfor that, maurice?
So let me put you on game realfast.
Dean Bushmiller is actually theperson who created some of the
questions on the CSSP exam, andso this individual here created

(39:26):
the test.
Help was a part of the groupthat created the test, so that
is the level of skills that youhave with the people that's
teaching it.
He's actually on the platformtalking about it and he gives
you his own resources.
When I've taken the class, hegave us a list of different
resources off platform, and so,yeah, great opportunity.

(39:48):
But you can see all this stuffin here.
It's in here, you can use it.
Help you, yeah, all right, butagain, all of this stuff is on
the MWR digital library.
This is where you go, so theMWR digital library.
I'm going to share the linkwith you guys, so you guys have
it in the chat.
Uh, there goes.
Uh, kevin shared it with you.

(40:09):
Take advantage of it.
Don't sleep on that resource.
That's a great resource to have.
I will take a few questions ifanyone has any questions related
to that.
If not, then I will go on tothe next thing, which is just
sharing our resources and thecorsair information and
everything else.
Uh, any hands raised, or if you, if you put a question in the
chat?
I was not paying attention tothe chat, so just just raise

(40:30):
your hand and let me know.
That way we can.
If you got questions related towhat we just talked about.
Looks like we got no questions.
How do you sign up, terrence, are you?

(40:51):
You stunned me with thatquestion.
It's on the website on how tosign up for that.
It's on the link I will share.
Sign up for that.
It's on the link.
I will share this.
Here you go, there's a link, you go there.
That's how you sign up.
That's the first part of that.

(41:13):
Good question, jen.
What question do you have?

Speaker 10 (41:19):
So question are there any programs or websites
that can give us like hands-ontraining or hands-on labs for IT
and cybersecurity?
Because one of the main thingsthat I already have the search

(41:41):
is just one of the main thingsthat is kind of an obstacle for
me is the fact that I lack theexperience.
So I am in an IT job.
Technically I'm an IT assetmanager, so only times I ever
actually utilize my help deskskills is just re-imaging things

(42:04):
whenever there's an emergency, but that's like not often.
So you know, I just wantsomething where I can put on my
resume that I have, like thisproject done or such and such,
but the downside is like thingslike downside is like things

(42:29):
like uh, who's it defend the box?

Speaker 1 (42:30):
uh, hack, react, not hack the box.

Speaker 10 (42:31):
Hack the box, capture the flag yeah, stuff
like that, like it's somewhatlike I got recommended those,
but then I saw the price andit's like I'm like is there
anything like cheaper or cheaperout or free for veterans?

Speaker 1 (42:47):
there are definitely non um ones that do not cost
money, like so just just justjust be aware of that.
Like um, yeah, somebody justmentioned before, try to hack me
.
Those do not cost money, sodon't try to like if somebody's
trying to get you to pay forsomething first, let's do a
little bit more research, goahead.

Speaker 9 (43:10):
My name is Irvin Frenzel.
I actually oversee severalundergraduate cyber programs.
I would actually recommend youdo the CCT through EC Council
CCTV.
No CCT Certified.

Speaker 10 (43:22):
Cybersecurity Technician, the cct through ec
council.

Speaker 9 (43:26):
Cctv no cct certified cyber security technician oh
sir, okay, cct it's actually anancy accredited certification.
Um, the reason I recommend itis they actually have close to
85 or 90 labs that are actuallydone in AWS.
Okay, so you're not yeah, you're not actually going out

(43:51):
there and just going.
Oh, hey, you know, this is asimulation where there's only
click, click, click and there'sonly one possible route.
It's actually when it spins upUbuntu server.
It's a full scale Ubuntu server.

Speaker 10 (44:00):
Okay.

Speaker 9 (44:01):
And you can do everything that you would do on
a normal server, because it's afull-blown VM and it actually
walks you through the process ofdoing the actual labs and
hands-on component pieces.
But they have everything fromintroduction to digital
forensics, to digital hacking,to network defender, to pretty
much any of the courses, but inthat particular situation you're

(44:23):
going to go down the hands-onprocess capability.

Speaker 1 (44:27):
Are you active or what are you?

Speaker 10 (44:32):
I am active.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
I'm sorry, which one of us?
Jen Jen.
Yeah, Jen, are you active orare you reserved?

Speaker 10 (44:40):
No, I just got out.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
You just got out.
Okay, I was going to say C3 isanother resource that you can
utilize, but you do have to beactive for that one.
But just to go back to the site, if you come back to O'Reilly,
you click on labs.
They have labs and sandboxes inhere, and so you can learn some
of the things that's in here.

(45:03):
And then I know for and this isthe sandboxes.
so you can try any of thesandboxes and if you're not
familiar with sandboxes, it'sessentially the same thing, like
a boot-through server orwhatever it is, and it allows
you to do test development in it, depending on what it is that
you're trying to do.
So if you want to just kind oflearn more about it and get some

(45:23):
experience, it's best to alsobuild out your portfolio.
So if you don't have like aGitHub portfolio, to start like
putting some of these projectstogether, it'll be a good aspect
and opportunity.
I would also recommend twoother aspects for experience.
Right, experience is sometimeskind of hard to come by.

(45:44):
You can always build your homelab, which is always a good
thing, cause then you can talkabout it, get experience of
building your own network withinyour house.
Um, but in terms of like beingable to help and use your
experience, you can do that with, uh, nonprofit organizations.
A lot of nonprofit organizationsdon't have the manpower or the

(46:04):
funding to have the technicalexpertise and support that's
needed, and so they usually havesomebody that helps them with
that.
To give you an example, marioSimons, who's on our board.
He's a pen tester for Act NowEducation, and so, because we
deal with so much PII, we madesure that we had a pen tester
that can actually test thethings that we do and how we do

(46:27):
it, so that the information isnot leaked to anyone else,
because we don't share ourinformation with outside
entities.
And so he's obviously doesn'tneed experience, but he's more
so helping a nonprofit dosomething that we wouldn't be
able to do Right, and so you canuse that and find opportunities
to kind of get experience andstart doing project based work

(46:48):
for nonprofits in that regard, the other aspect I would say is,
if you look into Vets in TechI'm not sure which program it is
, let me see if I can find itbut uh, I know that vets in tech
is partnered with cloudveterans.
I don't know cloud veterans, cloud guru, and cloud guru has a

(47:10):
bunch of aws labs in it.
Like you actually practice onthe aws labs as well, and, um,
if you're looking for experience, say again no, jay um, they
have access to pluraluralsight, but Pluralsight is only for the
Security Plus students.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
And it has some labs.

Speaker 4 (47:28):
So for Jen, the one thing I would just say, and
we'll let Tom and others say,but for me, what I would advise
you just to look at right nowand do some introspection,
because what you mentioned, Iwant to get hands-on IT, cyber
and everything that's common.
Everybody wants to do this.
But again, my advice toeverybody you cannot just say I

(47:49):
want to do hands-on and cyber.
What is cyber?
There's like 50-plus roles inthere.
What do you want to learn?
And everything has its ownclimbing ladder to it.
Just last week I was talking toto somebody and he just this in
his first year in in college andhe's like I want to get into

(48:09):
digital forensics, what?
And?
And then he's like what isdigital forensics?
I want to get into digitalforensics.
And we're like dude, take it insteps, man, all right, don't
tell me that you just raise yourhand to go at you know, um, uh,
you know to enroll in themilitary and you want to say I
want to become a sergeant in bythe end of the year.

(48:31):
You haven't even gotten in themilitary.
You know, I don't know aboutyour level of knowledge and
things like this, but basically, take it in steps.
You know I'm saying and so, forexample, like you know, if you
have access to, for example, oO'Reilly, yeah, try it.
Play around in some lab, butknow what you want to do,
because you're going to go there, and it's what he was just
showing you.

(48:51):
There's labs about Azure, gcp.
You know AWS, apache, kafka, sql, mysql, postgresql, big data
, everything.
Ok, what do you want to learn?
All right, you understand me.
Mysql, postgresql, big data,everything.
Okay, what do you want to learn?
All right, you understand me,yeah.

Speaker 10 (49:08):
And that's the thing .
I know specifically whatdirection I want to take
vulnerability assessment but Ithink a lot of the walls I've
been like running into is whatyou mentioned Like they have a

(49:29):
whole broad uh uh arsenal fullof tools but I don't even know
what direction or which one.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
If I was, if I was you, if I was you right now, I
don't know if you're in collegeright now, for example, if
you're in college right now.
I said a couple of times we arein 2025.
Ai is in full bloom.
Okay, ai is in full bloomMeaning you know, as a student,
you know Google is providingfree access to students until

(50:05):
next year to Gemini.
At least that's one LLM thatyou have access to for free.
You don't have to pay the $20 amonth and then you can ask for
different things.
Okay, I want to learnvulnerability management.
Create, you know, a 30-day planfor me to learn vulnerability
management.
What's involved in it?

(50:26):
Okay, do you have you learn youknow nexus?
Okay, how do I learn nexus orwhatever other platform for
vulnerability management thatyou try to play with?
Okay, I'm sure tenable has, youknow nexus, has their, uh, has
their, you know, free edition orcommunity edition or whatever.
Somebody else might haveanother one.

(50:46):
There might be another opensource and just it's about
skills.
Okay, it's about you havingbecause have those job
descriptions.
Again, I'm not a recruiter.
Maybe Nolan or anybody elsewould say, you know, they would
ask for, like, knowledge ofsomething.

(51:07):
Okay, unless they say, expertknowledge in Python, and you
have to be a coder.
You know Python coder for 25years and have a PhD in nuclear
physics and be a submariner for35 years and you know things
like that, building your skills.
But I mean yeah.

Speaker 10 (51:32):
Okay, yeah, that is helpful.

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Hopefully.
So I mean anybody else, I thinkTom or anybody.
Jerry had their hands up.
Yeah, jerry had their hands up.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
Yeah, Jerry had his hands up.
Go ahead, Jerry.

Speaker 8 (51:58):
Thank you, missed our question.
Do you know?
Is that ACNAL have acollaborative with organizations
that help people to volunteer?
In order to have the answer onthat means I want to ask you.
So ACNAL?

Speaker 1 (52:19):
and I can speak from this, so ACNAL by itself does
that.
So, if you partake in our um,but we don't do that with, like,
cyber security just yet.
We are looking to do that withthe ai program, but we currently
do that with the scrum program.
So every time we've ran scrum,we've actually, uh, giving the

(52:40):
folks something to to actuallywork a set.
So, because we have a largecommunity, we have a large
audience and it means somethingmore if you can go to an
employer and say that, yeah,I've helped create this or
develop this tool or, you know, did this thing that affected
80,000 folks, so we do that.
So, for the folks that areabout to start the CSM course,

(53:04):
on the 8th and the 9th of thismonth, they'll be working on a
project for us to be able tohelp do something, and so we do
that.
And, but in terms of likeworking with other organizations
, not so much because, like Isaid, we are all part time I

(53:27):
mean essentially, like I said, volunteers and so we don't, we
don't have the capacity to reachout to a lot of organizations
to see what they have going on.
In terms of the resources, wecan find those things, but when
it comes to like trying todevelop those relationships to
to be able to do that.
We would like to do that, butwe definitely need a full time
crew to be able to do that.
That makes sense.
Thank you.
All right, cool, awesome.
We got two other questions andthen we can share the resources.
So, mike, what you got.

Speaker 11 (53:50):
Thanks, yeah, so I may be getting ahead of ahead of
the brief, but when I attendeda couple of years ago, there was
a great resource guide.
It had, you know, a laundrylist of if you wanted help with
your resume or with interviewsor things like that.
Is that something that we'llget at the end to be able to
access again?

Speaker 4 (54:08):
It's available on a platform.
If you go on an app, now thatyou'll be able to download it
from there.

Speaker 1 (54:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (54:15):
So we have.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
We have, yeah, we have two ways to do that.
So the career compass is one ofthem, and then the other way is
our, our notebook.
I would drop the notebook inhere so you can have that for
those who like the PDF version.
But this is just a snapshot, ora snippet of the resources that
are available to you.

(54:36):
So let's see notebook.
Here we go.
So let me drop this in here inthe chat.
You'll see it there so you canuse that.
That has a lot of goodinformation in there.
While I'm at it, I'm going todrop the military spouse guy for
our military spouses in here.
This is created by militaryspouses in our community.

(55:03):
These are projects that werecreated by people who did scrum,
like the scrum project.
This military spouse guy was ascrum project, um and so, but
the first one was us creatingthat.
Uh, here is something else Iwanted to share with that.
What was the other thing?
Oh, also, if you feel like, um,you know, there's resources out

(55:26):
there that you're just lookingfor, or resources that you can
share, please feel free to sharethose resources with us as well
, and then we'll just we'll putthat information out to the
community, as long as there areno cost resources, we don't have
a problem sharing it.
So that's kind of our go-tothing.
Does everyone feel like thisinformation has been helpful or
is it like not useful?
I know we've got a lot ofpeople on the call.
I just want to see what yourguys' intake on some of the

(55:49):
stuff that we've covered today.
Awesome, awesome.
Well, with that being said, sliding right into it, if you
feel like this information ishelpful, please write us a
review.
That'll help us out a lot.
We use this to kind of help usget more certification
opportunities, speak toemployers and, you know, use
this as ammunition to be able tobring back different

(56:11):
opportunities.
So please feel free to write areview.
I will drop the link in there,or Kevin will drop the link in
there before I get to it.
Most of the time, there he goes.
But yeah, please feel free towrite a review for Act Now
Education.
We greatly appreciate it.
Thank you, let me see.
Oh, that's the connect one.

(56:36):
Let me share the review one.
Hello sir, yes.

Speaker 15 (56:41):
Yes, I thank you for what you're doing.
I was trying to.
I know you have a lot ofinformation here, but I was
trying to let Jen, the lady thatwas talking earlier.
I posted three links that shecould benefit from.
I posted in the chat and, foranyone else that's interested,
it will help her for what she'sdoing or what she's trying to do
, and they're all free, ofcourse.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
So I put it in there for anyone that wants to look at
it.
Can you share that one moretime?
Uh, we'll let you drop that inthere and then we will put that
out there.
Sure we'll do.
And then also like uh, Iprobably need to do a session on
linkedin so you guys can likelearn how to utilize linkedin.
I am a big advocate of linkedin.
Um, it it's more than just asocial media platform.
It's a tool that you can use tohelp you land a job, help you

(57:29):
find a job, help you findopportunities, help you run your
business, help you expand yourbusiness.
But you would take informationthat you learned from.
Just to give you an example, you would take information that
you learned from this session.
Right, this gentleman is aboutto share some resources that
talk about how to get into, youknow, understanding to do labs
for tech.
That's a struggle that a lot ofpeople have, right?

(57:50):
And you put that information onyour LinkedIn and say, hey,
this is something I just did, Iexperienced this.
This information is good, hopethis helps you.
You put that information outthere.
You're not helping other folks, and then other folks tend to
look at your profile or tend tolook at what you offer or the
things that you share about.
My following has grownsubstantially because I do that
Right, and that's also broughtme other opportunities.

(58:12):
I'm talking about people who'veasked me to do anything from
hey, jay, can you speak forfifteen thousand dollars to do
this thing or can you talk onthese topics?
All because of the activity onlinkedin not any other platform,
only on linkedin.
We do make money on otherplatforms, but linkedin is like
my go-to, so I would highlyrecommend if you are trying to
grow your brand or you're tryingto make sure you spend time to

(58:35):
do that.
Linkedin is extremely powerfuland, as you see, I hear a lot of
people um, especially withinthe ic community talk about well
, I'm not on social mediabecause I don't want to have my
information out there and Idon't want people to know what
I'm connected to and anythinglike that.
Go look at my profile.
You can't tell where I work at.
So if you say that I'm acryptologic warfare officer, I

(58:57):
have a TS clearance.
I work in some places thatrequire you to get in several
doors.
You need badges and access andcodes and stuff like that, and
so if I can do that, and I cando it.
Where I'm not like highlightingthat aspect of my career, you
can do it as well, so just keepthat in mind.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
You mind if I jump in real quick from a recruiter
perspective.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah.
So a lot of people probablydon't really realize how kind of
the backend of LinkedIn worksfor LinkedIn recruiter.
Linkedin recruiter is a heavilyutilized tool for recruiters
and one problem that I see a lotof LinkedIn profiles.
They really need to read likeyour resume and the reason for

(59:41):
that the LinkedIn recruiter tool.
We're searching keywords andthings like that, um, and if
they're not on your profile, they're not going to come up as
as someone's trying to, you know, look for a specific skillset.
So, um, I highly encouragepeople to you know, really,
really make their LinkedInprofile as detailed as possible.

(01:00:01):
You know, a lot of times peopleliterally just put a job title
in the company they work for andthere's no bullet points or
anything underneath those.
You really want it to read justlike your resume and that will
allow people to search you outas they're recruiting for talent
.

Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
Can I add one last small stupid detail to what
Nolan said?
I've seen it for most of them.
A lot of people right now tryto use AI to optimize their
bullet points and everything.
It's okay, it's awesome, it'ssmart, but please, for the love
of little puppies wake up in themorning and waiting for their

(01:00:35):
mama to come and lick them inthe face.
Please edit and read that.
Don't just copy paste, postsomething in your chat, gpt or
something.
Please edit and read that.
Don't just copy paste, postsomething in your chat, gpt or
something.
Just yesterday I was just madeyou know.
Yesterday I was talking tosomeone.
He's getting on the army as aninfantry soldier and on his
LinkedIn as infantry US Army2005 to 2025, it says you are,

(01:01:02):
you know, that's what Chad GPTtold him to put.
You are a weather sensor, youare a master planner, you have
planned missions and patrols, and that's what he copied.
Okay, stuff like that.
So please just edit and make itgood for as if you were putting

(01:01:25):
it on your resume and you putit on your LinkedIn.

Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Yeah, I would second that.
Just don't go off of everythingthat's on you know and then
learn how to actually use theplatform.
It's not like Google Learn howto actually use it.
We're going to have a sessionwith Tom and some folks the
community, uh, here shortly oncewe get the day coordinated.
But for the love of smalllittle kittens that are looking

(01:01:50):
for their mother's milk, uh, inthe morning, do it for anwar.
For those who don't track, anwar always talks about like
puppies or something to thateffect.
I've just first time evermentioned it, but this is funny.
All right, let's go back to theAll right we have.

(01:02:14):
Is this a Sean?
Am I saying that right or is it?

Speaker 16 (01:02:17):
Yeah, hey, hey, jay, I don't.
I don't remember if this end isthat two or three, but you
didn't mention last.
I was in this meeting last week.
I signed up to Career Compass,but I don't know if I've.
I can't find the link on yourwebsite.
I don't know, like if I'vegotten, like if I'm going to the

(01:02:39):
right places, but I alsohaven't gotten anything back in
my email.

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Yeah, so I mentioned this and I'll mention it again.
So if you created, if youcreated an account through the
career compass, like you filledout the form, your account is
created.
There's no email that's sentout to you.
You just have to go to thecareer flow with the same email
address after Tuesday to createyour account.

Speaker 16 (01:03:04):
Is there like the link that could be shared?
Careerflow CareerFlow.

Speaker 4 (01:03:09):
CareerFlow Appcareerflowai.

Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
Yeah, I'll share it with you.
But all right, thank you.
No worries, who else we have.
We have a this pal.
You're on the line with Anwarand Jay.
How can we have?
You're on the line with AnnWarren, jay, how can we help you
?

Speaker 10 (01:03:31):
hi, I'm I'm looking to see if there's any resources
for law to go into law, specifically like for paralegal
for military spouse.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
Are you active duty military?

Speaker 10 (01:03:54):
No my husband is a veteran.

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
Let me do this let me do this.

Speaker 9 (01:04:05):
Hey, jay, I know that there's some lawyers that have
signed up for in uh mill.

Speaker 1 (01:04:10):
Mentor, of what I've heard oh, yeah, look at that,
look, look, tom tom comesthrough in a clutch.
I totally look folks.
We run so many programs I Idon't remember all the programs
we create, but we createdanother program that, if anyone
needs help with something reallyspecific, no mentor is a good
resource and tool to be able touse.
It's a platform that we spentsome time on because, like I

(01:04:36):
said, a lot of people werereaching out to me asking me to
do one on ones and I'm not ableto do that anymore ones and I'm
not able to do that anymore.
Uh, and it's a something thatbothers me a lot, because this
is the reason why I was starteddoing this is so I can be able
to share my, my knowledge withfolks.
But created mill mentor insteadso that you can speak to other

(01:04:56):
people who have experience andknowledge, and so this is the
platform here.
You just come to the website.
It'll tell you everything aboutwhat it is the need, why we
started.
You know and there I am,there's Peter and there's Nicole
, there's my team that wecreated the Mill Mentor platform
.

(01:05:16):
You sign in and then in herehere, if you come down to let me
go to switch to mentee, you cancome in here and you can search
by industry, right.
So legal services, you canclick on that.
But you have media,entertainment, nonprofit

(01:05:39):
transportation, hospitality,tourism.
You can click on one of theseindustries and it'll bring up
folks in that particularindustry.
You can search by company andthese are the folks that have
joined, or mentors from certaincompanies, so you can touch base
with them.
If you're looking to be able totouch base so, let's say, for
Amazon, you want to touch basewith folks at Amazon, these
folks are also at Amazon.
So let's say, for Amazon, youwant to touch base with folks at
Amazon, these folks are also atAmazon.
So you can say, hey, just letme know, and this person has

(01:06:01):
helped a lot of people and hehas employment opportunities.
Then the other thing you canalso do is connect by if they
have opportunities to employment, if they're veteran military
spouses or their businessfounder or they have access to
Skill bridge opportunities.
And then the last thing istopics if you need help with
transition, career journey, askabout job education, startup

(01:06:26):
interview prep resources, jobsearch tips, all this stuff.
Now guess how much we chargeyou to use this platform to
still free 99.
So use your resources.

Speaker 15 (01:06:41):
I don't want to have to.

Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
I don't want to have to create anything else because
I think I've created.
We've created enough.
But use your resources that youcan be able to take advantage
of this and if you want to be amentor on this platform, please
sign up to be a mentor.
We are always looking formentors.
I'm trying to get Nolan to signup as a mentor so that he can
have you can reach out to Nolandirectly and get job
opportunities directly on here.

(01:07:02):
So this is a free resource, great opportunity, mill Mentor
and within the first two monthsor month of us starting this,
people have gotten jobs off ofconnecting mentors, connecting
with mentors on here.

Speaker 4 (01:07:17):
So tell them if uh dependents are able to sign up
or who's?

Speaker 1 (01:07:23):
oh yeah, yeah yeah, so, yeah, so that it's the
military community with at large.
So the dependents, veterans, transition service members, uh,
national guard reservists, uh,military spouses, um, and active
duty, you can all sign up.
There's no limitation in here.
Um, I would just say thedependent must be like like, um,

(01:07:46):
a working age, working age likeit's not like like 12 year old,
like on here, um, if so, it'sbest that the parent signs up
and then help them whateverthey're trying to help them with
.
But, yeah, and then on here, ifyou want to know who has the
most impact and effect, here arethe folks that do so.
So we have Bruce Thompson, whois 1,100 hours of mentorship.

(01:08:13):
This man is.
That's why I don't know.
This is not even a race.
Bruce Thompson is way out there.
He has spent more time thananyone else doing one-on-ones
helping people and he's super, super, super knowledgeable.

Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
Somebody was asking I'm sorry to disrupt you
Somebody was asking aboutfinance and things like that.
Okay, yeah, no.
Because you're sharing thescreen.
Somebody was asking him aboutfinance and things like that.
Okay, how to get answers inthere?
Yeah, no, because you'resharing the screen.
All right For whoever'sinterested in banking and
finance.
David Trenholm, unfortunately,is a Navy guy.
He's a VP at bank of America, all right.

(01:08:51):
So somehow he became successfuldespite being in the Navy.
But it's okay, we need allkinds, but he's at Bank of
America, all right.
So talk to a variety ofdifferent folks, people, okay,
even if you don't know.
But my advice, I'm just givingout small advice.

(01:09:14):
Giving out small advice, let'ssay, whoever I forgot, who
posted about wanted to get into, whoever wanted to get into
finance, all right, you want totalk to David Trenholm?
This is a VP, all right, notmaking it bigger than anything,
but still you understand whatwe're talking about here,

(01:09:35):
meaning this guy's got a lot ofresponsibilities, a lot of stuff
.
He's making his time availablefor you, so what you need to
maximize your interaction withhim.
If I was you, I would get onchat, gpt or Gemini or whatever,
and start having a conversationback and forth about you know,
I want to get into this careerand what's related to it and
what's required.

(01:09:55):
And oh, by the way, I ammeeting up with David Trenholm.
Here's his profile fromLinkedIn.
What kind of questions could Iask him in order to maximize my
hour with him?
Yeah, and then later on.
You can have another follow-onsession with him.
For folks who want to get intoIT, cyber, whatever, there's

(01:10:15):
like this guy, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
David Hart.

Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
Fisher, and then, like here, even in here, you
have Kevin Dessler.
Okay, who's you know?

Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
Who's on both sides.
He's helping people and helpingpeople learn Like look, this is
Okay, you have.

Speaker 4 (01:10:36):
David Muhammad here people and helping people learn
like look, this is okay, youhave, you have.
You have david muhammad here.
He's fresh up, you know, likearmy guy, 22 years at at&t and
so on and so forth.
All right, you have a bunch offolks, but please just make it
make use of your, of yourresources here, guys yeah, look,
and lydia latrone.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
She's known for branding like specializes in
branding.
Her focus is branding helpingpeople understand.
She's a civilian that has beenhelping people.
She's a ted talk speaker, allthis stuff like I, we.
I mean, I can't go into all thedepth, but use these tools
because we create them for youto use them, to be able to
utilize it, and so please feelfree to to get your value out of

(01:11:18):
this.
We got like 20 questions thatcame out of nowhere once we
showed this.
Well, so let's get back to theoriginal question.
Oh, so yeah, if you're lookingfor the lawyer aspect, you use
that to connect with someonethat has a legal background.
That way, you can probably useas a resource.
Other than that, I wouldprobably say uh, you can use

(01:11:38):
chat, gbt or any of the the aisto say come up with some legal
resources that can help meprepare for whatever it is that
your parent has, apparently oryou can connect.

Speaker 4 (01:11:48):
You can connect with the lady megan duchess of sussex
.
She actually used to work as aparalegal for this firm with all
harvard lawyers.
Okay, for like about eightyears before marrying a prince
from england, all right it's sheactually used to work as a
paralegal for this firm with allHarvard lawyers.
Okay, for like about eightyears before marrying a prince
from England.
All right, it's perfectHollywood story yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:12:03):
And then All right For anybody who did not pick?

Speaker 9 (01:12:05):
up it's a dead joke.

Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
Okay, it was a dead, it was a stupid joke, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
Nobody picked up on.

Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Lady Megan.

Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
Peter Peter Klein.
Peter Klein he Klein.
He's also studying to become alawyer, and he can provide you
with a lot of different aspectsas well, so please reach out to
him.
Peter Klein always doesone-on-ones.
I don't know how he does it,because he runs Booster Books
and does everything else thatI'm doing, so just reach out.
Thank you.
Tammy, you're next.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
All right, you can barely hear you.
Yeah, it's All right, let'shave a good evening.
I wanted to see if anybody canput a thumbs up.
We can barely hear you.
You can barely hear me.

Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
Yeah, it's a little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Okay, go ahead.
Okay, we have a thumbs upcoming in.
Sorry, I wanted to see ifanybody in the past has been
actively and successfully ableto get LinkedIn experience.
I heard successfully LinkedIn.
Yeah, I'm not fully able to getmy LinkedIn premiums in the
first place.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
I heard successfully LinkedIn, yeah, active duty
something.

Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
It was garbled, If you want to.

Speaker 9 (01:13:04):
I'm sorry, if you want to post it in the chat.
Yeah, I put it in the chatalready.
I put all the LinkedIn premiumsin the chat.
I'll put it in again.

Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
Oh the.
Linkedin premium Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Yeah, the issue is, your idea is still rejecting you
as a spouse.
Yeah, I had the same issue aswell.
Okay, okay, I was wondering ifit still so.
It looks like veteranstransition support is who we
need to talk to about that, thenfor linkedin, yeah uh, no, not
for LinkedIn.

Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
Veteran Transition Support is mainly for Coursera.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
For Coursera?
Okay, because it says thecontact viewer.
It says they don't give anyadvice on why they're rejecting
us.
It's just like the contactviewer they're going to date us.

Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
You said LinkedIn is rejecting you.

Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
Your ID is rejecting us on behalf of LinkedIn, so you
don't need the qualificationsand they won't provide any
details.

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):
Okay.
Is it the fact that you'retrying to establish like I'm a
military spouse on LinkedIn andit's not connecting?

Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
No, it's that.
We're trying to get theLinkedIn premium for one year.

Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
Okay, no, if you were trying to get the linkedin
premium for one year, okay, um,let me reach out to my point of
contact at linkedin and I willfigure this out.
Is any other spouse real comingthrough this experience, trying
to get there one year and it'snot working?

Speaker 10 (01:14:30):
yes, I tried to do it a couple minutes ago and I
got the same identificationissue.

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Okay, all right, let me reach out to my point of
contact.

Speaker 17 (01:14:39):
Sorry to cut you off but what I believe it's like
before the PCS you have a oneyear and after the PCS you have
a one year, so it doesn't workin the middle of the tour For a
military response.
They only get that one yearbefore and after, and it's
either before the PCS or afterthe PCS.
Okay, who was that?

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
Samuel Legere.
What's going on, samuel?
So you're saying that, essentially, if they want to
take advantage of it, it'sreally depending on where they
are in their transition aspect?

Speaker 17 (01:15:16):
Yes, and that's what I heard.
Don't vote me for it.

Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
But, Hmm.

Speaker 15 (01:15:23):
Okay, the other issue that I had.
I remember just doing the samething to get the LinkedIn for
free premium, whatever you cansign up for basic LinkedIn,
right, and then you contact theI think it's whoever owns the
company that does theverification and they'll contact
you back and they'll do it forfree, because I remember having

(01:15:46):
that issue myself but I haveLinkedIn premium now but you got
to get in touch with themthrough LinkedIn and then they
fix it because they have athere's some type of glitch in
verification.
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
Okay, Yeah't know why Okay.

Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Yeah, I appreciate that I dropped on the microphone
.

Speaker 17 (01:16:03):
I think my hand dropped.
I was next on the line.
Go ahead, Samuel.
What's up?
So I have a question for theLinkedIn again.
I'm an NCI CTR with Pack Fleet.
I can't put everything that Ido for Backfleet on LinkedIn,
you know.

Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
You said did you say you're a cryptological
collection?

Speaker 17 (01:16:30):
CTR.
I'm a customer technicalrepresentative for NNCR oh okay,
all right.

Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
And so you're saying that you're trying to
representative for NMC?
Oh, okay, all right.
And so you're saying thatyou're trying to create a
LinkedIn, but you essentiallymajority of the information that
you're putting in there issensitive.

Speaker 17 (01:16:46):
To put all my work and all my stuff in there.

Speaker 1 (01:16:49):
it's a little bit to jeopardize my security clearance
yeah so the way that you goabout that is you take the title
of your role and then you willfind either job you can use job
descriptions or post orinformation and, like you, still
like you use your chat gpt ifyou want to, but you'll have it
create in the unclassed versionof that right.

(01:17:12):
And so if, like for me, i'm'man electronic warfare officer,
well, electronic warfare, cybersecurity and SIGINT is my
background.
I would not put SIGINT on therebecause I don't want people to
automatically deduce that I'm inSIGINT operations, but I would
put electronic warfare in theaspect of being able to protect

(01:17:34):
systems and or assets.
And then the other thing, forcybersecurity.
I would put cybersecurity inthere.
Now, the thing that I wouldhave probably connected to is
something related to projectmanagement of that, and so I
will create a few PM tracks forwhat it is that I do, how do I
do it, and then the end result.
If you actually look online, you'll see that it's like

(01:17:55):
project management for what Icurrently do, which is
acquisitions, and it doesn't gointo anything classified,
anything in depth.
And then also, when you'redoing that right and you're
creating that cause, essentiallyit's gonna just take you time,
but you wanna make sure that youat least highlight the work
that you're doing, not in theaspect that you're doing it.
You also want to make sure thatyou get that push through pubs.

(01:18:17):
I don't know what yourorganization does, but each
organization does have likesomeone that reviews the
information before you releaseit and then that way it could be
thoroughly reviewed and thenyou'll have any problems
releasing the information to putit out there, just to make sure
that it doesn't go againstanything that the organization
doesn't want you to do.
When I worked for NSA and whenI worked for some of the other

(01:18:40):
three-letter agencies, I didthat and it was perfectly fine.

Speaker 17 (01:18:46):
It's a little bit like some of the bullets that I
did out of my experience.

Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
Yeah, you're not going to be able to mention
every single thing, but you haveto keep it generic enough for
people to understand.
Like, if you're protectingnetworks and you're talking
about how you protect networks, but not an aspect of like like
what the actual, the result isfocused on the actual work that
you do, so like what is it thatthe job is called, that you do,
the title that you're doing itin, and then how do you break

(01:19:18):
down the components of that?
So you did this that led tothis and was a result or impact
of that, but you're not talkingabout, like specifically what
networks.
It's very generic.
You're not talking about whatnetworks, who does it impact or
what does it affect, whatadversariesaries you're working
with or adversaries you'reworking against.
You're not listing all thatinformation.

(01:19:40):
You're keeping it really plain.
Jane, if I'm doing networkdefense, I work with protecting
75 different servers forcovering.
That supports governmentoperations I'm not really
talking about and we have, uh,two million incidents a day or

(01:20:00):
whatever I'm, I'm talking aboutgeneral stuff, not necessarily
like getting down into the weeds.
Does that make sense?
It does, yeah, yeah, it's justthe way that you articulate that
is on a high level, like, justput it?
Put this way if you took, notyour supervisor, but like your
boss's boss's boss, and he askedyou what do you do?

(01:20:22):
You got to dumb it down forthem because they wouldn't
understand, because your handson keys so they would not
understand anything you'resaying, so you have to put it in
the most plain language words.

Speaker 17 (01:20:32):
It's like if you're explaining it to a 12 year old
what is it that you go right tothe five bullet points?
When it happens, yes, nobodywill understand what we're doing
, yeah, but it's easy to tellthem like, hey, this is what we
do, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:20:49):
So, like I said, you put that in there and you can
put it in ChatGBT.
Like I said, just make sureit's clear first, don't you
don't have anything in there, crazy, but put in chat gbt and
say how best to articulate theskills that are related to jobs
that do this work or what arethey like.
If I'm a network engineer, write down exactly what it is
and then I will drop in what doI do and then have it conveyed

(01:21:10):
into, converted into that.
So it's, it's not hard, butessentially it does take some
finessing because it's notsomething that's easily done,
especially if you've been doinga job for so long.
And, believe me, I know somefolks that are in some spaces
that they like everything theydo is classified.
But essentially they're aproject management.
They're running some type ofproject.
They may not be able to talkabout the project, but they have

(01:21:31):
to talk about what the resultof the project is.
How does their leadership drivethat that project and the
things that they've done to helpsignificantly make an impact on
that project and the timelinerelated to it.
Anyone can talk about that.
You could do that with cleaningup something.
So you could definitely do itwith a classified project.
You just make sure none of thatclassified work is in there.
Cool, good, absolutely Allright, folks, I know we're over

(01:21:53):
time.
I'm going to go through thesequestions real fast and then
we'll go into.
Um, actually, we'll pause for asecond.
Let's share you the link so youhave the links and then that
way, if anyone wants to drop off, they can, and then I'll answer
the question.
So if you guys can hold on, Iapologize.
Uh, let me get you the courseralink first so you guys can uh
sign up for coursera.

(01:22:14):
If you're interested in kind ofsigning up for coursoursera, if
you're interested in signing upfor Coursera Now, if you don't
know anything about Coursera,it's a great resource and what
it does is allows you to takeadvantage of certificates that
they have.
They have over 12,000 courses onthis platform.
This is a partnership throughVTS, no-transcript worth college

(01:23:11):
credits.
You can get up to 201 collegecredits based off of the course
work that's on Coursera, all atno cost.
Like I said, 12,000 courses.
So if you're looking forsomething whether it's building
your resume, learning how tobuild a lab, I'm pretty sure
it's going to be on here, sotake advantage of it.
And it's open to militaryspouses, veteran transition
service, national Guard, activeduty and so forth, so take

(01:23:35):
advantage of that.
I dropped that link in there.
There's that.
And then the last thing I'mgoing to share with you guys.
All is like I said, this is adifferent way of me doing this,
so I don't know how it's goingto turn out, but we're going to
attempt it.
So here is the link to ourcareer flow.

(01:23:55):
Normally, I have you guys fillout, we give you a code, have
you fill out a form, and that'sthe typical process for this.
Sorry, let me switch over, butthis is our database here that
you'll get access to, and thiswill allow you to create a
resume using AI.

Speaker 17 (01:24:12):
I have a switch gap.

Speaker 1 (01:24:14):
You're still on VTS.
Oh, thank you, appreciate it.
This will give on VTS.
Oh, thank you, appreciate it.
This will give you a resume.
I mean, this will allow you tocreate a resume, it'll allow you
to track jobs, it'll allow youto look for job opportunities on
here and it'll take youdirectly to the site that has
those jobs and then, if you comein here, you'll see the list of

(01:24:35):
jobs here.
You just gotta wait till itloads.
Once it loads, then you cankind of look and search through
the jobs here, just waiting forit to load.
But it also has resources inhere.
So, right here, over 5,000 jobs.
This is like more than just5,000 jobs.
This is like probably withinthe millions, but we've capped
the number, so it says 5,000plus.

(01:24:57):
You can work on your LinkedInand improve your LinkedIn in
here.
It shows you how to improveyour LinkedIn.
You have also resources in here.
You click on resources.
This is all the resources thatare available for our community
at no cost.
You switch out the grid layoutSorry, I don't know what's going
on.

(01:25:18):
There it goes, and so you haveapprenticeship, certifications,
child care, clothes makeover, college, community college I
mean sorry college education, community, cyber it.
So you just search through hereand you'll maybe find your
resources.
If those are looking forfinancial certifications is in
here too, so there's a lot ofdifferent resources that you can
tap into.
Use that.

(01:25:39):
So the link for this and, likeI said, I haven't done this
before, so this is new is goingto be this link to create your
account.
So you go there, you use youremail address, you create your
account.
It should give you access tothat and it should be good to go
.
If not, let me know.
But that's how you get accessto our career compass,

(01:26:02):
specifically our career compass, and then how you get access to
Porcero.
All right, now let's go back tothe questions and then we'll
call it a day.
So, maurice, you're up next.

Speaker 18 (01:26:15):
Yes, good day to you and good day to all.
So my I have two quickquestions.
So the first question is what'sthe turnaround time when you
upload these, the podcast, tothe YouTube.

Speaker 1 (01:26:28):
I'll try to do as fast as possible, but usually it
takes us about a week or two.
Okay, this will probably be out, maybe next week.

Speaker 18 (01:26:34):
Okay, okay, I want to read rewatchwatch the uh last
week where you went over thenotebook, so okay, yeah, yeah,
so that definitely should be out.

Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
Uh, um, I gotta ask, because I did like a series of
them, so it should be either outnext week or the following week
okay, and then the only otherquestion I have is um, what uh,
what uh?
So when you give us the code,do we upload?
There's no code today that Igave that.
That link that I gave is um toit's to overwrite the code.

(01:27:09):
I'm just trying to see if thisworks instead, cause if so, then
I'll just do this, cause it'san easy option.
Gotcha, all right, are you Allright?
Awesome, all right, melissa, what questions do you have?

Speaker 14 (01:27:25):
Hi, okay Well, I don't have a question now, I
just have.
I was trying to figure out howto get into CareerFlow but I
just used the new log and itsaid my email wasn't registered
as an account, and I just usedthe new link you gave and it
worked beautifully.
I'm in and now I have anonboarding.
Start onboarding, so I'm prettysure I am good to go.

Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
Awesome, cool, that works.
Yeah, all right, dave, whatquestion do you have?

Speaker 13 (01:27:59):
hello, yo, your mic is super loud I just want to
follow uh, piggyback on what Iknow I said and uh, for the love
of tiny tunnies, you are usingai for anything with your resume
.
Please save another copy andremove your name, address,
clearance and anything that hasto do with your information,

(01:28:23):
please, you have to do it nowwhen you are using HayHive.
Many people on this forum don'tknow about breaches going on
day in and day out.
If you know, you have done thatalready with your private
information on any heihei.
I'm going to post a link.
Please run your email throughit and see if you have been

(01:28:44):
breached already.
The name is haveibeenownedcom.
Please, if you are using anyheihei with your resume, remove
your name, remove your phonenumber, remove your clearance
level, remove anything that hasto do with you before you upload
it into any AI system, please.

(01:29:08):
We keep getting breaches day in, day out.
Many of you don't know what isgoing on.
Trust me, they have.
Many of you don't know what isgoing on, trust me.
But if you have done thatalready, use this site to check
if your information has beencompromised.
Thank you all.

Speaker 1 (01:29:24):
Dave, thank you for sharing that.
I used this, I think, threeweeks ago, just to see what my
email was good.
Strangely enough, it wasn'tanything that I thought like
activity online.
It was auto parts for pickingup a filter from my car.

(01:29:44):
My email, my name and my phonenumber my physical address was
taken.
And then DC has this silly parkmobile app that, in order for
you to park, you can use thisapp.
I was on there because theirstuff was compromised.
So same thing my license place.
This time, my name, my phonenumber and then the password

(01:30:06):
that I have associated to thatapp.
So, definitely, take his word ofadvice and see if your name is
on there and then understand, like, what breaches it's
connected to.
And so, yeah, it's kind ofcrazy out there, all these
organizations that store yourdata.
There's an opportunity for itto be breached depending on how

(01:30:27):
they're using their POS systemsand things like that Auto parts
of all places.
I'm like I can't even get afilter.
I can't even get you know, change out my window wipers.
Like, so, yeah, I can't evenget a filter, I can't even get
you know, change out my windowwipers.
So, yeah, thank you for sharingthat, dave.
Can anyone give me their bestAnwar impression, for the love

(01:30:49):
of little.
Got anyone out there that'swilling to try that.
I'll give a certification ifpeople are interested.
All right, we have, I'm notsure how to say your name, but

(01:31:12):
I'm going to go with yeah theperson on the screen.

Speaker 19 (01:31:14):
Macchi Macchi, can you hear me?
Yeah, I can hear you.
Okay, thank you.
Okay, thank you.
I wanted to know about the CSMcertification class that was
supposed to be this August, sonext weekend.
I wanted to know if it's beingfilled up and also if spouses
were eligible.

Speaker 1 (01:31:33):
Any program we run is open to everyone in the
military community.
We don't like separate uhanybody in terms of that, but uh
, for that particular class, those classes are all full, like
if it's if it's like a weekfrom now.
Usually we have we're full withthe class um, the next csm
cohort, I think, is in inOctober, so that one is mostly

(01:31:58):
filled.
So I would recommend jump onthat newsletter because I will
share it there.

Speaker 19 (01:32:06):
Okay, so it's it's.
How do we get the informationthis time?

Speaker 1 (01:32:12):
Oh, you have to go to actnoweducationorg, wait a few
seconds, and then it'll be apop-up saying join the
newsletter, and then you'll justput your information in there
and you'll get the newsletter.

Speaker 19 (01:32:22):
Okay, thank you.
And the last question is I seea lot of information about
cybersecurity and things.
Are there information orresources for data databases,
analytics?

Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
for, like data databases, analytics.
Yeah, I mean all most of thestuff that we.
I mean anything that has to dowith data database, cyber
security, ai tech.
Majority of the stuff is theresources that we share,
especially o'reilly media, ifyou, if you look for any of that
stuff, you'll find that stuff, that information related to that
.
So, yeah, data, data science, databases, data engineering
there's a bunch of informationrelated to all of those topics.

(01:33:01):
Okay, thank you very much.
All right, awesome, michaelHarris, you're up next.

Speaker 15 (01:33:08):
Hi, good afternoon.
I got a quick question what'sthe timeline to get imported
over to?

Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
CareerFlow.
Let's try this, see if you canuse this link and then see if
you can have an account createdthrough that link.

Speaker 20 (01:33:44):
Cool, I can respond back.
Yeah, I can respond back.
Yeah, I can respond back intothat to check.
Okay, all right, mark, you'reup next.
Yes, sir, thank you, it's agood information, as usual, so I
appreciate everything you'redoing.
Just wanted to circle backabout the splunk access for the
training.

Speaker 1 (01:33:54):
Okay uh, was that not passed out, or oh yeah?
Well, I'm not sharing the full, that's right, so let me get
that.
Thank you for bringing that up.
I'm showing everybody.
Look, here's the breaches thatwe're talking about.

Speaker 20 (01:34:14):
And while you're pulling it up, just so everybody
will know I'm about yourLinkedIn profile.
It is important you do that.
Make sure you set it up rightbecause people can find you.
I was at one state college herein Florida.
I have my profile typed andright on LinkedIn and another

(01:34:34):
recruiter reached out to measked me if I was interested in
a certain job.
Long story short, I'm now thedean of the College of Computer
and Information Technology at StPetersburg College, so I'm over
that program.
If you inbox me at LinkedIn ifyou're interested in that or you
just want mentoring or anythinglike that, I'd be happy to help

(01:34:56):
out.
So having your LinkedIn profileset is very, very important and
if you want to transition tohigher ed or anything like that,
just inbox me and I can helpyou out.

Speaker 1 (01:35:10):
All right, here are the steps for creating a Splunk
account.
I'm going to share it in thechat so everyone has it.
Let me make sure that's right.
Yeah, I can't share it in thechat because it's too many words
.
Hold on one second.
I'm going to share one part andthen I'm going to share the

(01:35:32):
other part.
There goes the first part andhere is the second part.
There goes the first part andhere is the second part.
Cool, so that's everything thatyou need to get Splunk access.

(01:35:52):
Cool, all right, steve, whatquestions do you have?
No question, if you are talking, we cannot hear you.

Speaker 15 (01:36:18):
I can come back.

Speaker 1 (01:36:19):
All right.

Speaker 5 (01:36:27):
Next Alicia?
What question do you have Minegot resolved, sorry, okay,
awesome, easy day.

Speaker 17 (01:36:35):
Samuel, did you have another question?
So I'm working on my PMP rightnow.
I have all my PDUs.
They get accepted to take theexam.
I just want to know what's theprocess if I want to get a
voucher to take the exam.

Speaker 1 (01:36:48):
For us, you have to go through Chris McPhee's IRC,
which is Intensive Readiness.
Intensive IRC Is it Readiness?
Intensive Review course orsomething I can remember I was
like, oh, I don't know.
I know it's something intensive, but you have to go through
that and then you score acertain amount for the

(01:37:09):
assessment.
You score a 70.
Then we'll pay for it.
We'll give you a voucher.
But if you don't want to waitfor that, that we do have a
partnership with pmi.
You can get a hundred dollarsoff of paying for the voucher.
So you just go to.
If you have access to careercompass, you can uh, you can do
that with pmi.
You can do that with uh comptiacertifications.

(01:37:29):
We get uh, like as a non-profit, we get a hundred dollars off
of any of the certs and so we'lljust we're just transferred
chance, we're transferring ourdiscount to you so that you can
get that good for that.

Speaker 17 (01:37:41):
You have.
Um, I already have my sick, plus I'm working on uh, pmp and
aws, yeah, so aws.

Speaker 1 (01:37:51):
I could tell you the hack, for that is, if you
actually go to I'm not surewhere you you're, you're at, but
if you actually live near a um,a headquarters, the aws
provides you with free trainingand certifications, but you have
to be, there once again I'msorry if I leave near what.

Speaker 17 (01:38:08):
What happened?
You said that I missed part ofthe info.
You said if I live near, near,if you live near uh headquarters
AWS headquarters.
I'm all the way in the Pacific,I'm in Hawaii, so there's
nothing.
Oh, yeah, no, no.

Speaker 1 (01:38:23):
But the closest one to you is Seattle.
But yeah, but the other thingthat you could do is every month
they do like a training, avirtual training.
Every month they do a virtualtraining.
I don't know Like they always.
I would love to like share thelink, but they always change
their links, so I stoppedsharing the links until, like,

(01:38:43):
they could actually drop them.
But if you take advantage ofone of their virtual trainings,
they always give a voucher atthe end of it.
So don't pay for AWS, uh,certifications and things like
that.
Just look up for when they dotrainings and take advantage of
that and they also do like.
They also do like their freecertification period, where you
could just work on acertification and they give you
vouchers for it.
So they'll do like theirchallenge or whatever it is that

(01:39:05):
they have going on.
So be on the lookout for that.
Don't come out of pocket forAWS, because every month they I
mean not every month, but everyyear they at least run two
challenges.
They either do their cloudchallenge or the AI challenge,
and it includes a bunch ofdifferent AI certifications that
you can take advantage of Ifyou could just type in.

(01:39:28):
you can type in Wait, wait, wait, wait.

Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
I might be confusing it.
Is it Microsoft that?

Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
does the challenge.
Which one does the challenges?
Anwar, Is it Microsoft?

Speaker 4 (01:39:40):
Microsoft does the challenge and AWS.
From time to time they alsohave their own challenge as well
over there, where they, youknow, for specific, mostly the
associate certifications, notthe professional.

Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
Not the professional yeah.

Speaker 17 (01:39:55):
Now that I know anwar, I'm gonna get all the
info from him.
Yes, and, by the way, we arefrom the same country, so I'm
gonna abuse him.
You're from morocco too.

Speaker 1 (01:40:06):
Yes, sir, oh, look at that, look who are the angels.
We're international today, sure, so so, uh, then, then I, I
challenge you.
So Anwar runs, uh, a Morocco umgroup for tech, and he brings
in a bunch of Moroccans andthey're all on a call and he
just essentially just talk abouttech opportunities.

(01:40:27):
So I challenge you to be a partof that and add some value to
that.
That way, you know, we havepeople from motherland.
All right, kl, what you got.

Speaker 7 (01:40:38):
Hi, so someone posted the.
Someone shared the have I BeenPwned website and I clicked that
link, but it's not working onmy end.
I'm not sure if that's for methough.

Speaker 1 (01:40:58):
What did you click on ?
Like?
I mean, I clicked on it and itopened up.
I would just do a google searchhave I been pawned?
And then you can just go fromit from there.
That way, google will give itto you directly.

Speaker 7 (01:41:12):
Yeah, I did do that, but it's still coming up that
the link is broken.
It just gives me an errormessage.

Speaker 17 (01:41:22):
I put it in there again.

Speaker 1 (01:41:27):
You might be currently being pawned.
Because it shouldn't give youany issues, I would try to use a
different browser Browser thatyou're using.
Try to use a different browser.
Okay, I'll do that, thank you.

Speaker 13 (01:41:38):
Awesome, I'm probably I've been punked.

Speaker 1 (01:41:41):
There you go, samuel, what questions do you have?
I can't hear you.

Speaker 16 (01:41:57):
Sorry, I was going to try to do a poor impression
of Anwar.

Speaker 1 (01:42:04):
Oh, go ahead, Go ahead, let's hear it.
All right.

Speaker 6 (01:42:09):
So welcome everyone to this Vesantic training.
Now, it's optional for thistraining.
If you want to go ahead and putyour camera on, feel free to
ask some questions.
I see Samuel's in the chat andhe said he was in the Navy.
I'm so sorry about that, butanyways, I hope everyone had

(01:42:29):
enough time to completeeverything on plural site.
I don't know what else to say.
You got to do the love oflittle dogs.

Speaker 1 (01:42:39):
That's the missing part.
Oh, no, okay.

Speaker 4 (01:42:43):
Guess who just got banned at now.
No, no, don't remember my name.
I'm blacklisted on all mysocials.
For the love of little dogs.

Speaker 1 (01:42:58):
I did it.
That was great.
Hey, Samuel, what cert you want, bro?
Shoot.
Can I see like a listing ofwhat's available?
All right, hit me up on the.
We have CompTIA certs and wehave AWS certs, so either one of
those you can get, all right.

Speaker 6 (01:43:16):
Thank y'all for that opportunity, appreciate it.
Listen to that foolishness.

Speaker 1 (01:43:22):
That was recorded.
Yeah, this is good, Iappreciate it, no problem.

Speaker 17 (01:43:33):
All right Up.
Next Say again All right Upnext To do his impression.
Say again Wouldn't even have todo his impression.

Speaker 9 (01:43:42):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:43:44):
I think we sound the same.
Alex, what you?
Got for us.

Speaker 12 (01:43:56):
Hi can you hear me?
Yeah, we can.
Okay, so my question is thatI'm looking to obtain a
certification in the Medicareinsurance field, and along with
that certification, the AHIPcertification is also required,
and I didn't see any resourcesfor that.

Speaker 1 (01:44:16):
So we don't do medical as well, because we okay
yeah, background is not thatwell, my background is not that
and my background is not that aswell.
However, um, the person whobackground it is as I would
recommend you reaching out to.
I'm going to share herinformation.
She is part of the team and sheis a doctor.
Okay.

(01:44:38):
Her name is Nicole Daraja.
She's a PhD, like not likephysician.

Speaker 4 (01:44:45):
The only one I'm kind of aware of right now is this
website here.
You know, I don't know, we kindof sort of shared it, but I
guess I don't know.
But anyway, I'll let you makeup your own mind about it.

Speaker 1 (01:45:02):
Med certs, yeah, med certs, but I think they have
like bill coding.

Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
They don't have anything they have phlebotomy
personal trainer, medical labassistant, blah, blah, blah and
all of that stuff, but then someother acronyms that I cannot
understand myself.
But beyond that, you know, youcan just reach out to them.
I think they use either your GIBill or your workforce grants

(01:45:26):
for whatever state you're in,you know.
See if you get accepted to thatand things like that.
Ok.

Speaker 12 (01:45:32):
OK, thank you.
Can I also ask one morequestion?
What's up Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 12 (01:45:34):
Can I also ask one more question?
What's up?
Um, so I'm a paralegal, I'vebeen a paralegal for 10 years
now and I guess I'm trying to.
I've been trying to gain aremote role just because, like
my spouse is in military and hewas, you know he has duties soon
and I'm just trying to preparefor that.
So I guess um, I don't know ifyou can give any advice for that

(01:45:55):
, because I'm not having anyluck.

Speaker 1 (01:45:57):
Vertforce.
I'm sorry.
Did you reach out to Vertforce?
I have yes.
And there's nothing there foryou with them.
No, not remotely.
That I would probably say oneof two things you can look into
ACP American Corporate Partners.

(01:46:17):
Okay.
And they can connect you with amentor within a particular field
set that you're interested inand then that person could
possibly provide you withopportunities related to, you
know, being remote, but thatthat's really just more of a
networking thing.
But they do connect people withjob opportunities.
It's kind of like no mentor, but on our higher degree um,

(01:46:38):
it's called american corporatepartners.
I can't think of anything.
I'm actually.
I take that back.
So, on, um, no mentor, notmental.
On the career compass, if you goto the site, there are a bunch
of different job boards thereand then there's like military
related job boards, like forones that if you are deployed or
you travel sorry, militaryspouse that you can take a

(01:47:02):
opportunity to, so every timeyour husband gets to go
somewhere or has to go somewhere, there's usually offices that
support those types of thingsand paralegals typically need it
and so but this is more so ranby like MWR or um, the base uh
jobs need it.
So they need paralegals forsure, cause I know when I was

(01:47:22):
deployed, um, I've always ranthrough paralegals to get uh
notific, uh, notaries and abunch of other stuff that they
they provide legal service.
So that's definitely somethingthat's needed.
I would just try to figure outwhat base or what base, or use
the MWR job board to findopportunities like that.

(01:47:45):
Okay, and you said it's calledAmerican Corporate.
Partners yes, ACP.
Thank you Cool.

Speaker 13 (01:47:51):
Awesome, you can reach us to MyCAA for your sense
.

Speaker 1 (01:47:56):
Oh yeah, yeah, MyCAA, that's right, yeah, appreciate
it.
Look, look, dropping, dropping, dropping the information.
Thank you for that.
Thank you.
I only forgot about MyCAA,melissa.

Speaker 14 (01:48:09):
I was just curious.
So I know the O2O program youcan only use once and I thought
of using it for the CAPM becauseI don't think, like I have the
experience.

Speaker 1 (01:48:19):
No, you do, you do.
And no, don't use it for theCAPM.
Ok, so what would you recommend?
I would recommend one or twothings.
One you have to list down yourexperience and the things, the
jobs that you've had in the past, right, and then you can put

(01:48:39):
this in chat GBT, because it'sreal simple to do it like that.
But say create a project and soif you've been working for like
three months or whatever, create project I'm sorry, three
years work, create a projectbased off of the work that I've
done at this location and breakit down into the PMP format for
an application.
It's going to create yourapplication interview aspect.

(01:49:00):
The other aspect that you haveto get is you have to get the
PDUs.
You can either get that fromUdemy Are you a military spouse
or active duty or veteran?
Veteran.
Veteran Mm-hmm.
Oh yeah, you definitely havethat experience, so you would do
that.
And then, for the PDUs, you canuse Gale Udemy, which is a free

(01:49:26):
account, but you would have tofind whatever public library is
connected to you.
You can use Harris County, butyou have to have a middle not
middle address.
But if you don't, if you have apublic library that's available
to you, it creates you a freeUdemy account.
Once you create that free Udemyaccount, you take advantage of
the classes that say PMP, pduhours.

(01:49:49):
They will provide you with allthe PDU hours needed and the
course material needed and sometest material needed as well,
like they'll give you all thatin one like felt swoop.
So you'll have your experiencethat you need the amount of
hours that you need.
You'll have the PDU hoursneeded and then the next thing
that you would just need to dois submit that application and

(01:50:09):
then, once it gets it takesabout a week or so to get back
to you and they'll let you know,um, when you can test or when
you schedule your test.
But that's really it.
There's nothing too crazy aboutit.
But, um, don't take the capthem.
I only recommend people takethe cap them if they're like um
college students or, you know, folks that don't have any

(01:50:30):
employment experience whatsoeverokay jay, where did you say to
go to create your applicationfor that, or the information?

Speaker 15 (01:50:41):
I didn't hear the beginning part.

Speaker 1 (01:50:43):
ChatGBT.
Use ChatGBT to create yourapplication.
Just put in your jobapplication, job information.
Like for whatever job you'vedone, it has to be recent.
So whatever job information youput in there, and then there's
a certain amount of hoursrequired.
So if you have a bachelor'sdegree, it's I think it's don't

(01:51:03):
quote me on this it's like 3,600hours.
If you don't have a bachelor'sdegree, it's like 5,600 hours or
something like that.
But the projects have to bethat length.
So I know for bachelor'sdegrees it has to be three years
long.
So you just have to touch baseon different projects.
What do you do, what the resultwas and all that other stuff.

(01:51:23):
But you put that in ChatGBT andsay write this as for the PMP
application, and it will changeyour verbiage into project
management lingo and then youcan just drop that in there and
then the only thing you wouldneed is the PDU hours.
You complete the PDU hours andthen you can submit your
application.
You can't you need to have allthat ready before you submit the

(01:51:45):
application.
So make sure you knock out thePDU hours and then, for the PDU
hours, all you're saying is youtake in this particular course
on this particular day from thisparticular um um uh trainer.
It'll so if you use amduramdial or um uh, any one of the
like the yeah, any one of thoseguys, you'll just list that you

(01:52:09):
taking their course on udemy.
That provided you the PDU hours.

Speaker 4 (01:52:14):
You get a certificate once you finish the course,
which means you have to passtheir test exam.
So you recommend that overdoing the O2O?

Speaker 1 (01:52:28):
Yeah, because here's the thing you use that for the
O2O.
I don't know anybody that'shiring for the CAPM.
I do know people who are hiringfor P&P Okay Right, and so you
don't know anybody that's hiringfor the cap.
I do know people who are hiringfor PMP OK.
Right, and so you don't want tocomplete that cert and then try
to look for job opportunities.
And they're like when you workfor the PMP Right it's good for
your level of knowledge and foryou to learn, but it doesn't

(01:52:50):
yield the result that you may belooking for, unless you're not.
If you you're not looking foremployment, then you can go that
route.
But again, that's a one-timeone-and-done and I wouldn't want
to waste my one-and-done on aCAPM.
I would prefer to waste it on ahigher level cert.

Speaker 14 (01:53:05):
Okay.
So would you recommend doingthis then for that lower level
cert first, or just goingstraight to the PMP?

Speaker 1 (01:53:13):
Go straight to the PMP.
I went straight to the PMP.
I didn't do anything on thecapital.
I went straight to the PMP and Ican tell you my personal story.
I didn't know anything aboutPMP.
The only thing I heard aboutPMP was my senior chief at the
time was telling me you need tolook into doing your PMP.
And I was like I don't evenknow what that is.

(01:53:38):
What is that?
It's like a, a pimp who wantsto be a pimp.
Uh, but it was like uh, so Ilooked into it and then I took
advantage of it and yeah, Ididn't have any experience and
it's definitely its own language.
Um, but it is related toprojects.
I've done like.
I've done projects in the navy.
I've done projects and thingsall throughout my career.
So I just made it make sense.
But, yeah, I would definitelynot recommend um taking that
silver bullet for the cap.

(01:53:58):
I would take it for the PMP.
Ok, all right, I appreciate it,thank you.
Absolutely All right.
We have two more, and thenwe're, we are done for the day.
Zeeshan, zeeshan.

Speaker 16 (01:54:19):
Yeah, hey, jay, I was just.
We spoke earlier.
I had figured out what wasgoing on.
Apparently there was an account, so when you dropped that link,
it helped with that.
So I was able to then make theaccount and take care of that.
But my question was I wastrying to get on the CSM class
that's coming up, obviously.

(01:54:40):
You said it's booked, but yousaid there's an upcoming cohort
for September.
So I looked on Career Compassand I didn't see anything.

Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
Yeah, any class that we have coming up ongoing or
coming up soon is going to beonly be offered in the
newsletter okay, so I did signup for that as well.

Speaker 16 (01:55:00):
Is that like a monthly thing, every month?
Okay?

Speaker 1 (01:55:04):
so, yes, yes yeah, so we didn't, we didn't push it
out yet.
So you'll see it come out hereshortly and not not this month,
but in in august.
You'll see that this is august2nd.
Yeah, september.
You'll see the this is August2nd September.
You'll see, the September issuewill drop and then you can see
from there.
But you'll see that on theSeptember issue.

Speaker 16 (01:55:21):
Okay, so it'll be on the September issue, not August
issue, not August issue.
Okay, great, and how fast do Ihave to?

Speaker 1 (01:55:31):
stay up until 1 am to see the newsletter?
No, I think they all getdropped at the same time.
I don't remember the date, butfor those who are already tuned
in, I think it's like the 15thor something like that or half
of the month.
But whatever date it drops, itdrops always at the same time.
Okay, so they said there's 500seats.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

(01:55:52):
There's not 500 seats for CSM.
There's only a limited seat forCSM.
The max we can do is 30.
For AI, there's 500 seats.

Speaker 16 (01:55:58):
Oh, okay, yeah, so you really want to get on that
on the 15th pretty much.

Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
Yeah, whenever the newsletter drops, you definitely
want to tune in and sign up forit.

Speaker 16 (01:56:08):
Then, and just a quick question Is there like a
specific reason you're droppinglike course course for the CSM
versus the PSM?
Because the PSM is good forlife?

Speaker 1 (01:56:21):
Yeah, it's trainers-based PSM costs me a
lot of money to do CSM, not tosay it doesn't cost me money,
but it's more cost-effective.
Unfortunately, we did do PSM,but for the amount that I do PSM
I could get another 30 peoplecertified, so that's the reason

(01:56:42):
okay yeah, makes sense.

Speaker 16 (01:56:44):
Thank you appreciate , no, or, if you see it, you're
taking time.

Speaker 1 (01:56:47):
Thank you, steve, you got the last question question

(01:57:14):
trying to figure out.

Speaker 21 (01:57:15):
So I wanted to find out a little more about project
management.
I actually run theseconstruction projects as well.
After like hearing today, I'mkind of interested in cyber
security as well to find out alittle more information.
So if I'm getting started, where would I start?

Speaker 1 (01:57:30):
Mill Mentor.
I highly recommend you use MillMentor.
So use MillMentor and findDavid Hart or anyone that has
experience in cybersecurity.
David Hart is my go-to becausehe always drops knowledge.
I just shared it in there.
But connect with those folksand then tell them, hey, because
they're going to be in thefield, and say, hey, this is

(01:57:52):
what I'm interested in learning.
I'm here, how do I get to beinginto the field?
And they'll give you some goodguidance.
So informational interviews isthe best way to start, rather
than putting your energy behindsomething that really doesn't
lead into what you're trying todo.
Okay, and his name is David.
Hart David Hart.

Speaker 21 (01:58:11):
Okay, no problem, all right.
Second question you had droppedsome PDFs earlier.
I was trying to click on theone.

Speaker 1 (01:58:18):
I couldn't download though Are you on your phone?
No, the iPad.
That's probably why.
I don't know if it works on theiPad either.
I think it only works on yourcomputer.

Speaker 21 (01:58:28):
Okay, so once I get the transcript, maybe then I
could just do that.

Speaker 1 (01:58:36):
Yeah, I'll try to put it here again so you can see if
it just was a glitch.
But yeah, I know for sure itdoes not work on the phone no,
obviously I'm also on no mentor.

Speaker 21 (01:58:45):
I can find people that's in government contracts
and stuff like that yeahabsolutely great cool appreciate
it.

Speaker 1 (01:58:57):
Alright, that was the weekly rundown, where we just
