(00:11):
Hey guys, this is Amy Linden. I started this podcast for you
because I am here to help Empower you because you are
enough. I am here to help you get to the
next level in your career. And most of the times, it has
everything to do with what you think about yourself.
I am a booking coach celebrity, booking coach 54, plus Network,

(00:35):
series regulars, and Emmy winnerand image in Winter.
And thousands of people working around the Loeb all because of
this technique that I created, Ireally want to help you.
So I do believe that if you keeplistening, you might pick up
some gem that I am dropping downand it will change the course of

(00:56):
your entire career. The biggest biggest thing that
I've noticed with people that are not my people, is that you
guys are leading with making sure you get it right.
So let's talk about what that means, making sure that you get

(01:17):
it right, making sure that you get the lines, right?
The most time needs to be spent on your emotional vehicle.
Because why would I spend any money to see you if I can feel
you, if I'm casting director, right?
And I'm going through a bunch ofthem.

(01:37):
What's going to stop me? What's going to stop me?
As I'm going through them, the feeling.
Feelings going to stop me. Not that you're off book and
executed it perfectly. What's going to stop me?
Are you pulling me in? So stop pulling me in for
pulling me in sake. You're going to pull me in

(01:59):
because of how you feel. But what did most of the
schools? Teach Us action intention.
Oh I want to make this person now you know.
Or I want to what? No, let's keep it simple, guys.

(02:22):
As an actor, you're a walking talking.
Emotional vehicle for the winter.
When we go see a movie, I go seea movie because the person that
starring in it, We're looking inthe credits.
Well, who's in that movie? Am I wrong?
No, Amy, you're not wrong. What do I do?

(02:42):
See a Denzel Washington movie because of Denzel.
Why do I want to go to Sierra a comedy?
Let's say, if I don't know, Jim Carrey's going to call me, I'll
go because it's Jim Carrey. So everybody's into this, this
whole thing about branding and wrong you were the brand.
Who are you? Who are you?

(03:04):
What is your gift? And it's within that gift that
you guys are going to do really well, it's understanding that
that gift needs to be of primaryimportance.
There's breaking the script. There's telling the best story
and then there's you. But what do most people do, they

(03:26):
go in, they freaking clown it upbecause they want to be noticed.
You don't need to do that. You just need to tell the best
story and you need to show up because when they bring somebody
back for callbacks or they consider somebody, they consider
you as one of the people that represents a great way to go.

(03:49):
You're not going to bring in eight or nine of the same kind
of people. You're going to bring in nine,
different choices or eight different choices of a way to
go. Will you want to be a strong way
to go? So stop reading the break down a
hundred times, looking for that clue.

(04:11):
That one clue that of what they're looking for, what
they're looking for. Is the person that tells the
best story. And that's understanding story
and most of us are reading comprehension skills suck.
I know mine did. My SAT scores was a joke.
I got into school singing. I didn't get in school because

(04:33):
my SAT scores acted sang and danced my way into college and
Syracuse University, it was not a my scores and people actually
laughed when they saw my scores. Is, it has some girl, even told
a whole lunch room? I suppose when I was in high
school and I'm very mean, very mean people But good for me as

(04:55):
an actor because I will have to work with so good.
Anyway, my point is, it's so important that you guys know
what you represent anxiety. And when people looking at you
and getting nervous even before you even speak, it's the feeling
of judgment. It's not very sensitive or also
empathic, you know, and if you're a great actor, you're

(05:17):
empathic. You pick up energy, you're
supposed to you're a great actorbut you can't pick up the energy
in the room and not is where this Him from television used to
mess me up all the time television auditions because
there's a corporate nice about it.
The coldness about the room filmwas always great.
I've done like 40 movies, you know, it's the because it's a

(05:38):
family, it's completely completely different but when it
comes to television, since it isa corporation, it's based in
corporation kill that Corporation feel.
And as an artist it just doesn'tgel well, it's like oil and
water. You know what I mean?
It just doesn't gel well and so that's why you're opening

(06:00):
emotions of vast importance. There's three things you're
going to be doing in the waitingroom.
The first thing is setting up your opening emotion and want to
be like above the room. You don't want to be firmly in
the room, sell you the characterand have them come to you.
If you sell the room, you going to be firmly in the room and the

(06:21):
room is not there to support you.
So why do we always reach towards room that doesn't
support us? It's like being in a really bad
relationship. Very dysfunctional, guys.
So, why do we always expect the casting director to read?
Well, why do we always expect the room expect?
Expect expect expect take it out, guys.

(06:42):
It's just, it's just disturbing your peacefulness.
You come in self-contained. You are everybody, you're like
the person on the street that does the drums and sayings and
harmonica and the one person band Casting is not there to
read well with you or act with you.

(07:04):
The producers aren't there, to keep you warm and make you a cup
of tea know, they're there to find what they need.
And trust me when they find whatthey need, then you are going to
be treated royally, but they gotto go through kissing a lot of
frogs before they get to that main person.
And so what we're feeling when we go in those rooms is the

(07:26):
kissing up. The frogs we're feeling that
drudgery and trust me. I understand that drudgery.
I mean, after looking at all those self tapes and watching
Talent Through The Years coming in to do auditions, like I would
cast like films that I was directing, you know what I mean?
Or or web series that I was doing and I would be like, what

(07:51):
are you doing? You know.
And so, they're just waiting forthat one person to light them
up. If you're not picking up the
energy in the room, then that one person you could come in and
make it your show, but we don't look at it that way because
we're like, please eat me. Give it to me, give it to me.
Good, you know, it's not gonna work that way guys.

(08:12):
It's not gonna work that way. People want people that they
can't have, what happens is we go in needing it too much
because we want their feedback, fuck their feedback.
It can't be about their feedback.
Needs to be about you. So the first thing that you're
going to do is you're going to set up that opening emotion.

(08:33):
When I say it's not about your talent, I'm absolutely certain
it's going to be about your approach.
Hey guys thank you so much for listening.
I so appreciate it. So if you really believe your
enough and you will click that button and you will go to the
