Eric Ruth is the founder of The Honesty Experiment, amovement dedicated to helping people transform their lives through radical self-honesty and journaling.
Born into chaos: his mother was an addict, prostitute, and they were homeless until he was seven when Eric ranaway.
He spent the rest of his childhood in the foster system before joining the Navy. But escaping his past didn’t mean escaping his demons. Years of self-deception, addiction, and self-destruction led him to a breaking point—a failed suicide attempt. That moment forced him to confront the hard truth: the only way forward was ruthless self-honesty.
Through Stoicism and daily journaling, he rebuilt his life, becoming a devoted family man, attorney, author, and entrepreneur. Now, he’s on a mission to get the world journaling.
Through The Honesty Experiment, his nonprofit The Goodly Group, and his book Ruthless, Eric helps others break free from their own limiting beliefs and build lives rooted in truth, accountability, and purpose.
