The Power in The Shadow of the Secret Place of God (Psalm 91 vs Psalm 23)
Life often casts long shadows and Sometimes, these are shadows of distress, fear, or the unknown. We’ve all felt the chill of what David describes in Psalm 23:4, "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." This "darkest valley," often translated as the "shadow of death," speaks of moments when spiritual or physical attacks, anxieties, or adversities loom large, seemingly threatening to engulf us. It’s the shadow cast by principalities, by powers, by the very forces of spiritual darkness that seek to sow discord and despair.
But praise be to God, this is not the only shadow in our journey! Countering this darkness is the glorious, safeguarding "shadow of the Almighty." Think of Psalm 91:1, which declares, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
