Better late than never! I had the double whammy of PC issues and medical issues delaying recording, but I wanted to get something out while waiting for my PC parts to come in, so I got a laptop and wanted to record a short, but special epsisode for an early favorite of mine. Joust is a game I have VERY early memories of for the arcade version, than it showed up again early in my NES heyday.
It might not be Halloween season yet, but there's always time for some spooky fun anytime in the year so myself and our guest Keaton decided to celebrate the LucasArts classic Zombies Ate My Neighbors!

As listeners know, I am a big Final Fantasy fan. That beings said, I was late to the party for the fifth entry, partially due to how long it took to be released in the United States and because of other games I had played since it originally released. I eventually caught up though! I'm joined by Chris (Xodyak) from Retro Hangover as we discuss our mutual memories and thoughts on Final Fantasy 5!
Info on Retro Hangover can be found i...
Everybody was Kung-Fu Fighting in this episode of Afterglow as I look at the game that started the beat-up-up genre (at least for me) in Double Dragon for the NES.

A game doesn't need to be perfect to be fun, and this episodes game is the perfect example of that. This game has flaws but is also just a nice sit down and play experience. It's not talked about much today, but if you are looking for a fun, short, and not too difficult NES game, Wrath of the Black Manta is a good choice.

Lets close out Steiner Math March with a game based on a great show.....but the game was a huge disappointment to me. I read the reviews as a young adult but wanted to give it a chance. I should have trusted the reviews.

Steiner Math March continues with WWF Wrestlemania on the NES. This was the first wrestling game I played in my life.......and thankfully I tried others because this one wasn't so good. I'm joined by Slaje from the Secret Levels Discord as we discuss our childhood memories and thoughts on the WWFs first NES title.

It's time for Steiner Math March! Last year in March we did a special wrestling month called Big Meaty Men Slappin' Meat in March, and I wanted to do it again this year, but this time featuring wrestling games I perhaps wasn't so hot on; wrestling games I didn't care much for. Kicking this month off will be the WWF In Your House for PS1 (as well as Saturn), a game I had high hopes for but ended up.....well......lis...

Sometimes your memories of a game are different from what your modern take can be. This is the position I find myself in when I replay StarTropics, a game I have great childhood memories of but I just don't enjoy as much as an adult. Journey with me to try to see my conflicting viewpoints in this episode.

Mega Man returns to Afterglow in this episode! It's been too long since I covered a Mega Man title, so here's the second game in the X series, which was the last one I got to play on it since I never got X3 or found it in a rental store. Of course I love it since its a Mega Man game, but you'll have to listen in for my detailed thoughts!

Just a quick caveat - there was an issue while recording this episode and occasionally there's a burst of static. I was recording with Bandicam and can't figure out how to fix the problem so I'll be changing my recording software for future episodes.
That being said, Keaton joins us in this episode as we talk about our memories and the legacy of Super Mario Bros. 2. Its a classic to most everyone, although myself and K...
I don't cover as many retro PC games as I do console games but I love sprinkling them in as I am more of a PC guy now, and in the end of the 90s no PC game was as anticipated as Quake 3. I share my thoughts on being an early PC gamer thrust into the arena FPS game style.

On this episode we are going back to the Game Boy with a launch title not talked about as much as Tetris but just as impressive to see on the black and white (or green and black) handheld with Super Mario Land. I forgot to mention in this episode there is a DX release of this game (which was a remake done in color for the Game Boy Color) that I never got to play but looks really good from what I have seen on YouTube of it.

This episode covers a light gun game, a genre that has fallen in recent years but I think these games are a blast to play. And few nail the setting as well as T2 does, even though the game is crazy difficult. I talk about my experiences with the arcade game as well as the SNES port in this episode, and how I had to more or less cheat to beat it.
