Can AI truly enhance our mental health? Join me, Sahar Andrade, your #AIWhisperer at AI Cafe Conversations as we unpack the groundbreaking release of OpenAI's ChatGPT O1 version, a marvel in prompt engineering and reasoning-focused capabilities. We'll delve into how this innovative model, along with the "strawberry" model, is setting new standards in multi-step tasks, benefiting areas like coding and budget analysis. I'll also introduce you to some incredibly useful AI tools, including Genius AI for seamless social media management and Scopee for real-time change request handling, providing insights on how to make the most out of these advancements.

However, the episode takes a thoughtful turn as we explore the implications of AI on mental health. We'll examine the pros and cons of AI-powered therapy apps, which offer quick, accessible mental health support akin to a timely espresso shot but come with risks like over-reliance and data privacy concerns. Emphasizing the need to balance AI interactions with genuine human connections, I'll draw parallels to the enriching experiences found in personal, face-to-face conversations at cafes. As we conclude, I'll stress the importance of taking breaks from screens to nurture real-life connections, reminding you that while AI has its perks, nothing beats the warmth of human interaction. Don't forget to support our podcast by liking, sharing, and spreading the word.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Hello, hello, hello.
Welcome back to AI CafeConversations.
This is your host, SaharAndrade.
I am your AI whisperer, andtoday is actually about an
important subject that is veryimportant to my heart, and it's
about AI and mental health, balancing technology and human

(00:35):
connection.
So welcome again to the AI CafeConversations, the podcast
where we brew up conversationsabout technology and well-being.
Without being a techie, imaginewalking into your favorite cafe
the aroma of freshly brewedcoffee filling the air.
You can almost hear the gentlehum of conversation and the

(00:59):
clicking of cups.
It's in this cozy atmospherethat we're going to explore a
topic that's been on many mindslately AI and mental health.
So before we go into any ofthat, as usual I will share the
biggest news that have beenhappening this week, and then

(01:22):
I'm going to give you a coupleof tools and then we'll go into
our subject of AI and mentalhealth.
The biggest news ever that weall have been waiting for is
actually that Chad, gpt orOpenAI have released their O1
version or O1 mini.
So if you have a paid version,I have a paid version.

(01:46):
I didn't check yet if it's onthe free one.
It just happened right beforethe weekend it's.
You can actually go through thedrop-down menu and it could tell
you 4.0.
Or now it has 01 or or mini 01that you can choose from the
drop-down menu.

(02:07):
So they call the 01 the typicalblueprint for prompt
engineering.
So whatever we have beentalking about on prompt
engineering and prompt chainingall this time is upside down.
You don't need any of thatanymore.

(02:29):
At least that's what they say.
Again, I have to go through it.
I didn't really experiment withit, but I'll be sharing it in
my next podcast.
So make sure that whatever youput as a request in the 01 is as
detailed as possible so you canask the model to actually break
it down step by step.
Don't confuse it.

(02:51):
Make sure that you share thesubject matter that they are
Basically again.
So one thing that didn't changeis the role.
So make sure to put theexpertise that you expect from
it.
It has a new reasoning-focusedmodel.
It takes a little bit longer,so it takes between 18 and 20

(03:11):
seconds, but who really cares ifit's going to give you a good
result?
So the new form of open AI itwill do the heavy lifting for
you on its own.
Open ai it will do the heavylifting for you on its own.
So don't complicate it with abig prompt or lower quality

(03:37):
products.
So what you need to do, I'mgoing to give you a little bit
of steps.
Keep your prompts simple anddirect.
Avoid the way we have beenthinking that I'm gonna chain my
prompts, meaning I'm gonna likedivide it into idea by idea,
how to explain your reasoning.
Don't do that and don't clutteryour prompts with too much
information.
Just smooth the post importantpart and it will get it.

(03:58):
It will depend on its ownreasoning.
I tried it once this morningand I was amazed, actually, by
the result.
Again, I'm going to do a testthis week and I'm going to share
it with you in my next podcast.
This is what I know, or whatcame out about Chad GPT.
The new thing, the other thingalso about Chad GPT, is that it

(04:23):
launched strawberry.
We have been talking aboutstrawberry, there have been
projects, strawberry.
It was expected to launch intwo weeks, but actually guess
what it did?
Launch today?
But again it's called.
This is what they don't call astrawberry as what they had it

(04:44):
before, like some Altman used todo all these emojis of
strawberries.
Uh, so it's.
It's again what we call.
Oh one, and it spend more timethinking before it responds.
Um, it's faster than a humancan, so it it was just uh, it
was supposed to be next week, but it has been actually.
Uh.
Like I said, it has beentrained with reinforcement

(05:06):
learning that teaches to thinkbefore it answers.
So this is the first platformor the first form of AI that we
see thinking on its own.
So it's ideal for multi-step,complex tasks that you would
need complex, for example, mathproblems, and actually it's

(05:29):
heaven for coders and we shouldcare about that, because it's
development that we are having.
Again, it can take 10 to 20seconds to think, but it will
give you really very goodresults.
They say that it cracked theworld's first AI model capable

(05:49):
of human-like reasoning.
This is amazing.
I mean, this is the beginningand this is something that
people have been actually scaredof that AI is gonna start
thinking on its own and movingforward with that.
The other news that I have foryou here One of the things you

(06:09):
can do also with ChatGPT is todo a budget analysis.
How you can do that you canupload your budget or financial
statement to ChatGPT and thenyou can ask it to analyze the
financial statement andsummarize key information.
So it will do it for you with asummary, and if it gives you a

(06:32):
term that you're not sure whatit is or how to use it, you can
just ask it to explain it to you.
So this is another greatdevelopment and a tool that you
can use for on chat, gpt, one ofthe prompts that you can use
also is to enter a prompt.

(06:52):
As my branding consultant andPR strategist, what are some
effective networking strategiesfor building professional
connections?
You can add it on LinkedIn orin real life or whatever you
want to get when you do that, whatever you want to get when

(07:15):
you do that.
Actually, it will give you afew strategies that will help
you for that to build a solidnetwork of professionals.
I'm going to give you a coupleof tools that you can use now.
Genius AI is actually anAI-powered social media pilot
for business growth.
Scopee C-S, as in Sam C-O-P, asin Paul E-Y, scopes and quotes

(07:39):
work and manages change requestsin real time.
These are a couple of tools.
Another one will be Spinach, and it's your meeting assistant.
It takes accurate meeting notes, drafts, recap emails and

(08:01):
captures action notes in yourtools.
There is also ICADOA-I-C-A-D-S-N-D-O.
Select your preferred AI model.
Customize it to fit your needsand integrate it into your
business.
Again, all this news that I getyou are from the neuron, as well
as from the AI tool report.

(08:24):
You can subscribe to them andget also your news.
I give them a shout out fromhere.
Out from here now, going to our, the main subject that we have
today, which is AI, men andmental health balancing
technology and human connection.
Pour yourself a fresh cup ofcoffee and let's look closer at

(08:47):
how AI is changing the landscapeof mental health care for
better or for worse.
Sounds like someone gettingmarried, isn't it?
But ai is here to stay and, aswe are seeing, it's really keep
developing real fast, and I knowsome people that don't even use
it yet or are still scared fromit.

(09:07):
We need to learn it to prevent,if there is anything else that
we can manage as challenges oreven as dangers of AI, if some
exist.
Balancing technology and humanconnection is a big deal,
specifically for me.
I do believe in humanconnection.
I do love AI and I use it a lotin my daily life, but also

(09:31):
balancing the human connectionis huge for me.
Ai has become a prominent partof our lives and it's crucial to
consider its impact on ourmental health.
So today we are going toexamine how AI is impacting our
well-being, from AI-poweredtherapy apps to concerns about

(09:56):
social isolation.
We will also discuss how tomaintain genuine human
connections in a world where AIcompanions are becoming more
common.
So grab your favorite mug andlet's dive deeper.
Favorite mug and let's divedeeper.

(10:20):
Let's not, first of all, overlook the creative ways ai is
being employed, but I alwayslike to bring you the good, the
bad and the ugly.
I don't want to use my bias forai not to mention what are the
challenges or what are even thedangers of AI that we can have.
I just give it all to you andyou can make your decision on
how, when and if to use AI.
So there are some apps that useAI to create personalized music

(10:43):
or art therapy sessions based onyour mood and preferences,
which can be a soothing escape, just like the right coffee blend
can lift your spirits, and wehave been seeing that in Spotify
, where it picks the music basedon your previous listening or
what you like.
But how do these apps really, really work exactly?

(11:07):
Imagine you're entering a cafefeeling a bit down.
You share your thoughts withthe barista in this case, the AI
, who then offers you words ofadvice or a comforting anecdote.
The AI assesses your mood fromthe conversation, using cues to
offer help, just like a goodbarista might know when to offer

(11:30):
a comforting word along withyour favorite comfort drink.
These tools use techniques likenatural language processing to
simulate conversation andprovide cognitive behavioral
therapy, or CBT, like we call it.
For instance, an app might helpyou challenge negative thoughts

(11:52):
or provide relaxation exercisesbefore a big event, like if
you're going for an interview oryou are making a speech, or
you're going on a first date.
Right, think of it as having atherapist in your pocket handy,
right?
Let's start with what I like tocall the AI espresso shot.

(12:14):
I love my expressos.
You know that quick jolt ofenergy you get from a shot of
espresso.
That's similar to whatAI-powered therapy apps can
offer to our mental health.
These apps are quick, accessible and can give you a
boost when you need it.
They are available 24-7, so youdon't need to make an

(12:36):
appointment between 9 and 5,often at a lower cost than
traditional therapy, especiallyif you don't have insurance, and
, as I said before, provideanonymity for those who might
feel uncomfortable withface-to-face sessions.
I remember a time when I wasgoing through a particularly
stressful period at workjuggling few contracts writing

(12:57):
proposal.
Juggling few contracts writingproposal, trying to manage my
life as a wife and a firm mom,and all that together.
Late one night, feelingoverwhelmed, I turned to a
meditation app on my phone.
The soothing voice guiding methrough breathing exercises

(13:21):
helped calm my racing thoughts.
It wasn't a cure-all, but itwas like that perfect shot of
espresso, just what I needed toregain my focus and get through
the moment.
Imagine AI as a cup of coffeefrom a vending machine

(13:42):
convenient and efficient, butlacking the warmth and depth of
a barista-made coffee in a cozycafe.
Similarly, ai can fullyreplicate the empathy and
connection experienced in humaninteractions.
I know I sound stuffy, you guys, but I'm having this, I don't
know a little bit of congestioninto my sinuses and my throat,

(14:07):
so I apologize in advance forthat.
So getting that coffee from thevending machine is what I call
the automated coffee machinephase of AI in mental health
those machines that can make anycoffee drink at the push of a
button.
Obviously, they are efficientand consistent, but they lack

(14:29):
that personal touch.
Ai shed bots and virtualassistants are a bit like that
they can handle simple tasks andprovide basic emotional support
, which is great for manysituations, but there is a risk
of over-reliance, and reducedhuman interaction is not without

(15:02):
its risks.
The lack of human oversight cansometimes mean that serious
mental health issues might gounnoticed or not addressed
properly.
There is also the big questionof data privacy.
How secure is the informationyou share with these AI apps?
Just like you wouldn't wantsomeone eavesdropping on your
coffee shop chat about personalmatters, you wouldn't want your

(15:25):
sensitive data handledcarelessly.
But also we need to remember wehave seen hackers hack big
agencies, includingpsychiatrists and court cases
and everywhere.
So it's not like AI make itworse, but it gives it another

(15:48):
channel to be hacked, and that'swhy we need to always use our
due diligence.
And how about the impact ofreducing human interaction?
While it's convenient to havesupport at your fingertips, this
can lead to isolation.

(16:09):
And remember, the youngergenerations are like mostly
younger millennials and z arereally suffering from isolation
because they depended so much onsocial media that they lost, to
start with, human touch, andnow AI is making it even worse.
It's important to balance AIinteractions with human
connections.

(16:29):
Think of it like visiting acafe While it's great to grab a
quick coffee to go.
Spending some time in the cafeinteracting with others can be a
much richer experience, andthis is where Gen Z is a little
bit better on human connectionsthan Gen Y, because they grew up
with FaceTime, they grew upwith facial expression, they

(16:53):
grew up with looking at someoneelse's face rather than just a
font on a screen like themillennials did.
And, by the way, I'm using uh,z and and y as generalization,
not a stereotyping.
So there are differences.
If you need individualdifferences in every group, I'm
just doing it as a framework.
Interacting with others can be,like I said, richer experience,

(17:19):
but it reminds me also whencafes started replacing some
baristas with automated machines.
Sure, the coffee was consistent, but we missed the smile, we
missed the small talk, we missedthe human connection that made
each visit special and rememberwhen we would go into a cafe and
they would remember our nameand that made us feel really,

(17:41):
really fuzzy inside Vendingmachine.
Cannot you feel that?
So that brings us to the humanbarista, the irreplaceable
connection that comes fromgenuine human relation and skill
therapist.
They are like that barista whoknows your usual order, notices
when you're feeling down and canoffer personalized support that

(18:01):
goes beyond just serving coffee.
Human connection brings empathy, intuition and shared
experiences that AI simply can'treplicate, at least not yet.
There is a healing power inphysical presence and touch that
no algorithms can match.
There is actually a newplatform for AI called Pi P, as

(18:26):
in Paul iai, and it claims thatit's the first emotionally
intelligent AI.
I will never forget the day Iwalked into my local cafe
feeling absolutely dejectedafter A really hard interview
with someone for a proposal thathas gone wrong.

(18:47):
My regular barista, anna, tookone look at me and said Ravdei
ha, this one is on the house.
That simple act of kindness, the understanding in her eyes.
It made all the difference.
It's this moment of humanconnection that reminds us we
are not alone.
So how do we find the perfectblend?

(19:08):
How can we integrate AI toolswhile maintaining those crucial
human relationships?
Think of it like crafting theperfect cup of coffee.
You might use an app to trackyour mood and practice
mindfulness techniques.
That's like adding a shot of aiexpresso to your mental health
routine, but make sure tobalance it with the rich,

(19:30):
full-bodied experience of humanconnection.
To maintain this balance, it'scrucial to use the ai tool as an
adjunct, not a replacement fortraditional therapy and human
interactions.
Set boundaries with yourtechnology use therapy and human
interactions.
Set boundaries with yourtechnology Use.
Make for technology use.
Make time and conscious effortto prioritize face-to-face

(19:54):
interactions and communityinvolvement.
Use AI just as a supplementarytool and support rather than the
sole source of support.
It's like enjoying a quickespresso on busy days, but
savoring a long chat withfriends over a latte on weekends
.
Find what works for you.
So, as we wrap up today'ssession, let's remember the

(20:16):
importance of blending moderntechnology with traditional
methods of care.
I encourage you to reflect onyour own mental health brew.
What's the right mix oftechnology and human connection
for you?
Ai offers incredible tools formental health support, but it
shines brightest when used inconjunction with genuine human

(20:37):
contact.
Remember, just as every coffeeorder is unique, so is every
person's mental health journey.
There is no one-size-fits-allsolution.
Experiment, find what works foryou and don't be afraid to
adjust your recipe as needed.
And here is a final thought totake away next time you're

(20:58):
feeling overwhelmed, why notstep away from the screens and
meet a friend at a real cafe?
Your mental health latte iswaiting to be savored.
Thank you for joining me inthis thoughtful discussion at AI
Cafe Conversations.
Stay tuned for more enrichingtalks and don't forget to
connect, not just online, but inthe real world too.

(21:19):
Take care of yourself and eachother and remember, in the world
of mental health, humanconnection is the secret
ingredient that makes all thedifference.
Please like, share, tell yourfriends about this podcast.
It will help me immensely and Iwould really appreciate it.
Until next time, keep yourcoffee sweet and your

conversations sweeter.
