Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome to Episode 21
of AI Cafe Conversation.
This is your host, saharAndrade, your AI whisperer, and
today we are brewing upsomething very special the AI
Arista Showdown your jobsurvival guide in the age of
(00:34):
artificial intelligence.
Grab your favorite mug andlet's dive in.
And I'm discussing that todaybecause I have been hearing a
lot from people what about myjob?
What if they're going to let mego because of AI?
Ai is going to replace my joband I kind of touched on it in
previous broadcasts, but Ithought to dedicate a full
(00:55):
broadcast based on that.
I also received like at leastseven emails about that, to ask
me how they can work with that.
Is it true?
What, what they can do to notmake it a reality, how they can
survive that if it's true.
So I decided again to make thiswhole podcast our episode and I
(01:16):
can't believe it's episode 21,you guys Anyhow.
So I just wanted to do that, but, as usual, before we go
forward, I like to share thenews of this week about what
happened in AI.
As we know, it's really reallyfast happening and, just to let
you know, I am doing an AIworkshop.
It's a free workshop.
(01:37):
It's sponsored by PCR SBDC.
It's September 5th at 10 am,pacific times.
If you are interested, email meat sahar at sahar consultingcom
.
Sahar at sahar consultingcom.
So, going on with the news andwhat happened this week, so
(01:57):
california has put actually anew if you want to call it a law
, or a new, if you want to callit law, or a new proposition or
a bill and it's called SB1047.
That basically wants to makesure that AI is more secure for
(02:19):
us.
It has concerns about oursafety and AI regulation.
Some of the AI platforms arekind of opposing it because
they're having concerns intocreating an unfearable
environment for AI developmentand deployment in California.
But, believe it or not, anthropic that is, the parent
(02:43):
company for cloud actually justendorsed the belt.
So it would be reallyinteresting to see what's going
to happen and I'm going todefinitely keep you posted.
With that like kind of aconflict is that 5% of Google
(03:10):
workforce have signed a letterthat actually for Google asking
it to end its contracts withmilitary organizations
expressing concerns that AI wasbeing used to aid warfare, which
is a violation of Google's ownAI principles, which stated that
AI technology would not be usedfor military or surveillance,
(03:35):
basically purposes.
This shows kind of a culturalclash between Google that sells
cloud services and AI technologyto military clients and AI
division like DeepMind thatpledged not to work on
technology that can be used formilitary.
Again, this is something elsethat we are watching closely to
(03:57):
see what's going to happen, andI will still bring it up for you
later on to see what's gonnahappen with that.
There is a lot going on andthat's why probably why why I
wanted to bring the subject ofthe jobs and security and all
that in this platform.
(04:18):
Big news concerning perplexity.
Perplexity that is backed byJeff Bezos from Amazon, is
planning to monetize its AIsearch engine through ads.
I don't know how that is goingto feel.
I really like perplexitybecause it gives you resources
whenever you're doing a researchand that can give credibility
to what you do.
So Jeff Bezos and perplexitystakeholders basically want to
(04:44):
capitalize on its increasingpopularity, especially that it
has a valuation of a billiondollars right now, which is
double of what it used to bethree months ago.
It has been downloaded over 2million times and answers over
230 million queries every singlemonth, so of course, it's a
(05:07):
very fertile ground for ads tomonetize, for advertisers'
scheme, if you want to call itAlso the new in Perplexity is it
launched a publisher programlast month where Perplexity
gives publishers like Time andFortune percentage of the ad
(05:29):
revenue earned if they appear ina search query.
Because a lot of people hadcomplained about Perplexity
using their credible sources andpeople that wrote basically the
articles without them givingthem credibility for it, and
(05:49):
that's why they came under firefor how it surfaced content with
Forbes and Wired and accusedthem of taking away intellectual
property.
And we should worry about that,or care about that, because that
means that a broader change forAI digital ad strategies is
coming, and that's why I alwayswant you to be prepared.
Things are going to changewithin a year and that's why you
really really need to startlooking at AI, at least learn
(06:12):
about it, learn about what cando, what you can do, what would
you like to do with it, whatwouldn't you like to do with it?
Because at the end of the day,it's here to stay and I always
say garbage in, garbage out, andthat's why you have to learn
prompt engineering and promptchaining.
And I know I sound likepreaching, but actually I want
you to develop, to progress andI want you to succeed in
(06:34):
whatever you do because seo isgoing to be changing very soon
to aeo I don't know if it's myown name or abbreviation, but
it's instead of search engineoptimization, it's going to
artificial engine optimization.
Speaking of AI prompting orprompt engineering, actually
there is a new research is freshoff the press.
(06:55):
A new research reveals why youshould always include examples
in your prompt, for example.
You know how it can give yousome example depending on your
input.
Well, a group of researchersfrom Amazon and UCLA just found
out why that works as well as itdoes.
Why?
(07:15):
Because large language modelexcel at learning patterns, even
with only a few examples.
What they don't excel atapplying rules, especially in
unfamiliar scenarios.
And again, I'm bringing youthis news from the Neuron, one
of my favorite favoritenewsletter that I get, with all
(07:37):
the information that comes newabout AI.
So how can you apply that withyour own work with AI?
When you ask AI for something, either to give you more
information or to solve aproblem, play to its strength
and always give it a fewexamples.
And that's why, when peoplejust enter, oh, give me a
(07:59):
business plan for a businessthat does this or does that, I'm
like people.
This is not how AI works andit's not gonna help you.
Don't assume that AI canperfectly follow complex
instruction or rules, especiallywith unique situations.
When possible, break downcomplex tasks into smaller
(08:20):
pattern recognition problemsrather than long sets of rule.
So it's a reminder for us onhow to really give it a thought,
on how we engineer the prompt.
Again.
I had a discussion about whatprompt means last week with a
client.
I thought it was like reallyreally easy or very simple to
(08:40):
understand or everybody knows italready.
And I was wrong, because thatclient comes from a computer
background and a prompt for themis something different.
A prompt is, I think, a slasherthat is inverted and and
telling the giving, uh, thecomputer, some symbols, to give
some examples.
But actually prompting ai is anorder.
(09:02):
It's that sentence that youenter in that discovery box.
It's what you are asking AI todo for you.
Ai engineering means that youengineer, that you build it.
It needs engineering people.
It means that you have to putthought in it and then prompt
chaining is when you take everysingle part of that prompt
(09:23):
engineering answers and youstart chaining it to get better
answers.
So they found that there isactually to do that.
There are two steps to giveexamples.
One, the learning steps.
And this is when you give AI afew examples and ask it to
figure out the underlyingpattern or rule.
Number two application step nowthat ai will propose a rule for
(09:47):
you or a pattern, then you it'stested using an external
verification system and not theai itself, so you're actually
helping yourself in getting, uh,better results if you're really
serious about really using AIfor success.
Another news Apple is movingwith plans to build tabletop
(10:09):
robots, rolling iPad thatfollows you around, interesting
Sometime around 2026, 2027,.
I have seen those rolling iPadsin actually TV shows that do
the million dollar real estateselling.
I have seen them around, but Iguess it's going to get some
(10:30):
more innovation about that.
Google has a new prompt galleryfeaturing its AI studio to let
you test out long context, native multimodal that is like
an image, video and audio outputand more.
Now giving you some tools.
One of them is my Journey, andmy Journey gives you it makes a
(10:54):
visualization of your entirelife in an interactive timeline.
So this way you can exploreyour memories, locations,
relationships through variousviews and filters and that can
help you actually create yourbio for your business, because I
always say say this branding isthe foundation of a business
(11:14):
and your main brand comes fromknowing your uniqueness.
What is it that you have thatno one else has in your industry
?
And I always say this youruniqueness will usually come
from your story, your why, why, what made you do this, why you
are doing this.
So having this tool canactually help you with that.
(11:35):
For those that use a lot ofdiagrams, there is snap diagram
that converts hand-drawndiagrams into editable digital
versions.
This is also another.
They said that actuallymid-journey if you, I don't use
a lot of mid-journey becauseit's a little bit tacky for me
(11:57):
and, as I always say, I'm notreally a tacky but they say that
it became a lot easier to use.
So I can't wait to to try that.
Actually, what I have been usingfor my pictures sometimes is um
firefly on adobe.
Last week I I did an experimentwhich was like mind-blowing um,
(12:18):
I pay for chat gpt, so I triedto do some pictures based on a
blog that I was writing and itgave me a picture.
It was okay.
And then I went to uh copilotand I asked for the same prompt.
I just copied and pasted theprompt and it gave me four
different pictures that weremind-blowing.
So actually, the free Copilotgave me better pictures than the
(12:41):
DALI, and I both use DALI.
That is in ChatGPT.
I have no idea why, why?
The only thing that alwaysperplexes me is that, till now,
whatever is written or whatevertext is on these pictures
usually have typos.
It's not a science yet, but Ican live with that.
(13:03):
So I just wanted to share thatlittle experience with you, and
now I'm going to move into ourepisode.
Okay, so I said that it's the AIbarista showdown.
It's about your job survivalguide in the age of artificial
(13:26):
intelligence.
Hopefully, you have yourfavorite mug, your halfway, like
mine in your coffee or yourespresso.
So I want you to picture thisyou walk into a cafe and see two
counters.
On one side, there is afriendly human barista, on the
other, a shiny, ai-powered robotbarista.
(13:50):
A shiny, ai-powered robotbarista.
Which one would you choose?
More importantly, if you arethat human barista, how do you
stay relevant in this AI-poweredworld?
Don't worry, this is not aboutreplacing anyone.
It's about creating the perfectblend of human skills and AI
(14:11):
assistance.
Today, we will explore five keyareas where you can outshine AI
in any job.
Are you ready for the showdown?
Let's go Round one the art ofpersonalization.
In the red corner we have theAI barista.
(14:34):
It can remember customerpreferences and make
consistently perfect drinksevery single time.
Impressive, absolutely.
But in the blue corner, ourhuman barista has a secret
weapon emotional intelligence.
Remember, the first part ofemotional intelligence is
(14:57):
self-awareness, self-management,and then three and four are
awareness of others andmanagement of relationship with
others, and empathy is kind inbetween both corners.
Others and empathy is kind inbetween both corners.
Sure, ai can recall that youlike your latte with an extra
shot, but can it notice that youhave had a rough day and offer
(15:21):
a word of encouragement withyour coffee?
Or just ask you are you okay?
You know, just smile, just giveyou that positivity.
And the answer is no.
Ai cannot do that because, still till now, it cannot read
emotions and doesn't have anyemotions.
Your job, survival tip, is todevelop your emotional
(15:46):
intelligence.
Practice reading emotional cues, showing empathy, empathy and
creating genuine connections.
This human mean, human touchesare what turns customers into
regulars and colleagues into astrong network.
People rather be heard than yousolving their issues.
(16:09):
Okay, so just by telling themare you okay, is there anything
I could do?
Or maybe adding an extra shotof something and tell them this
is from me.
That will make a wholedifference.
So try this the next time youare interacting with someone.
Challenge yourself to pick upon their mood and respond
(16:31):
appropriately.
It's a skill that no AI cantruly replicate, at least till
now.
Round two creative problemsolving.
Our AI barista is quick on itsfeet or wheels.
It can rapidly suggestsolutions based on its
(16:52):
programming.
Out of almond milk, I willinstantly recommend oat milk as
an alternative.
I don't do either.
I don't do dairy at all, evenif it's not dairy.
But watch our human baristashine when faced with an
expected challenge.
A customer wants a drink that'snot on the menu.
(17:13):
No problem, the human canimprovise, maybe creating a new
speciality drink on the spot.
So your job survival tipcultivate your creativity and
critical thinking skills.
Ai excels at solving problemsit has been programmed for, and
(17:34):
the secret word here is what italready knows, not what it
doesn't know.
But humans can think outsidethe box.
So here is a fun exercise Takea common object like a paperclip
, and challenge yourself to comeup with 10 unconventional uses
(17:54):
for it.
This kind of lateral thinkingis uniquely human, like yes, it
holds paper together.
Maybe I'll put paperclipstogether and make an earring,
and make a bracelet, and make anecklace.
Maybe I can use it to hold myhair up.
I mean, come up with othercreative stuff that you can do
(18:15):
with it, because only a humanbrain can have that.
Round three adaptability andlearning.
The AI barista is a model ofefficiency.
Obviously, efficiency,obviously performing its program
task without a flaw,no-transcript, or when a new
(18:43):
superfood ingredient becomes thenext big brand.
This is where our human baristatakes the lead.
Humans have an incrediblecapacity to learn, adapt and
grow.
We can take on new skills, understand complex changes and
evolve with our industries.
(19:04):
This is your job survival tipEmbrace lifelong learning.
When we stop learning, we dieinside.
This is my saying.
Okay, so stay curious and bewilling to adapt to new
technologies and methodologies.
Try setting aside 30 minuteseach day to learn something new
(19:27):
in your field, and you might sayI'm busy, I'm busy, I'm busy.
And let me tell you, most ofthe people that tell me I'm busy
, they're just busy withbusiness.
They're not really busy, it's atime management skills.
Whatever is not on yourcalendar is not going to get
done.
Wake up 30 minutes earlier thanwhen you wake up and try to
dedicate it to learningsomething new in your field.
(19:49):
It could be reading an article,or watching a tutorial, or
watching a video or practicing anew skill.
This continuous growth willkeep you ahead of the game.
Okay, moving to round fourethical decision making.
Our AI barista is programmedwith ethical guidelines.
(20:10):
It won't overcharge customersor use expired ingredients.
That's awesome, but ethicaldecisions are not always black
and white.
Imagine a situation where aregular customer forgot their
wallet.
The AI might strictly enforcethe no money, no coffee rule,
but our human barista can assessthe situation, remember the
(20:34):
customer's loyalty and maybeoffer the coffee on credit this
once, or even offer it for free.
Your job survival tip isdevelop your ethical reasoning
skills.
Understand the ethicalimplications of your work and
industry.
Practice making decisions thatbalance rules with human values
(20:59):
and context.
Here is a thought experiment.
Next time you face a decisionat work, ask yourself what would
an AI do and how might a humanapproach this in a different
manner?
This can help you identifywhere your human judgment adds
unique value.
(21:19):
Number five collaborativeintelligence.
Our AI barista is tirelessworks 24-7 without a break.
Impressive stamina, you guys.
But our human barista has atrick up their sleeve the
ability to collaborate both withother humans and with AI.
Imagine a busy morning rush.
(21:43):
The human barista might use theAI to handle orders and
payments, freeing them up tofocus on crafting speciality
drinks and chatting withcustomers.
It's not about human versus AI,but human plus AI.
Your job survival tip learn towork alongside AI.
(22:11):
Your job survival tip learn towork alongside AI.
Understand how AI tools canenhance your work rather than
replace it.
Be the person who knows how toget the best out of both human
creativity and AI efficiency.
Start small.
Identify one repetitive task inyour work that an AI tool could
help you with.
By automating this task, howcould you refocus your energy on
(22:34):
more creative or strategic work?
The verdict it's not abouthuman versus AI.
Again, it's about human plus AI.
So who won our showdown?
Plot twist?
It's not about winning orlosing.
The cafe of the future isn'tabout choosing between a human
(22:56):
or AI barista.
It's about creating a perfectblend where human and AI
complement each other.
It's diversity, you all.
Your ultimate job survival tipis position yourself as an AI
human collaborator.
Be the person who knows how toleverage AI tools to enhance
(23:20):
your uniquely human skills.
It's like being a barista whoknows how to use the espresso
machine to make amazing drinks, rather than competing with the
machine itself.
Remember, in the world ofcoffee and in your career, the
goal is not to compete againstthe machine, but to create a
(23:41):
perfect brew of human andartificial intelligence.
By focusing on developing youremotional intelligence,
creativity, adaptability,ethical reasoning and
collaborative skills, you willalways have something unique to
offer.
That's all for today AI CafeConversation.
(24:01):
Until next time, keep exploring, keep growing and keep brewing
success with AI.
This is your AI whisperer, yourhost, sahar Enradi.
Till I see you next time.
If you have any questions, email it to sahar at
saharconsultingcom.
(24:21):
Please comment, like and shareour podcast with your friends,
because it really helps us a lot.
Again, if you have any comment, let us know you guys, till we
meet next time, I tell you tryto learn more AI.
And again, if you have anyquestions, let me know.
Till next time.
(24:42):
One, two, three, four time.
