Can humanity triumph over a hidden Reptilian menace? Uncover the thrilling narrative of the 1980s sci-fi series V as we dissect its cultural significance and mythological depth. From its inception as an innovative miniseries to its transformation into a beloved regular series and a short-lived reboot, V has captivated audiences with its gripping tale of human resistance against shape-shifting alien visitors. Join us as we explore the profound themes of deception and struggle, the show's pioneering special effects, and the creative genius of Kenneth Johnson. Dive deep into the heart of V where the letter symbolizes victory—a testament to human resilience against extraterrestrial oppression.

But that's just the beginning. This episode also navigates the eerie parallels between fictional alien conspiracies and our real-world anxieties. Reflecting on chilling portrayals from V and The Twilight Zone episode "To Serve Man," we question what dangers await us from advanced civilizations. We venture into the controversial theories of David Icke and the concept of an alien-controlled society, drawing uncanny resemblances to the world of V.  Continuing with an engaging and thought-provoking discussion, we delve into the possibility of our government using very sophisticated espionage masks to create maximum deception. Don't miss this captivating exploration of science fiction and its unnerving connection to what might actually be reality.

Joe (00:02):
Hello everybody, Thank you for joining us on Alien Talk
Podcast.
This is the show where wediscuss all things about aliens
and UFOs and, as always, wherewe push the limits of our
understanding.
Joe Landry and Roy Olford hereonce again to seek out the truth
and find the facts pertainingto the highly discussed issues
about extraterrestrial life andthe existence of UFOs.

(00:22):
So this is the third show inour series covering the
mythology and sci-fi, where weclosely examine the so-called
truth and fiction to find whatlies in the substrate of our
imaginations and which mayreveal something about our
intuitive knowledge.
In the previous show, weexamined the saga laid out in
the television series BattlestarGalactica that ran both in the

(00:44):
1970s and in the 2000s.
Before that we talked aboutStar Trek, a movie franchise and
television series mostly now onstreaming, and today we're
going to look at one that somemay call obscure, mainly because
it's from the 80s and it's noneother than a show called V.
When we return, we'll take alook at this sci-fi story to

(01:07):
show mythical as well ascultural aspects that are ever
prevalent in it.
We'll be back in one minute.

Ad (01:17):
Most people aren't interested in just one topic.
Don't settle for a podcastabout just one subject.
That rhymed.

Joe (01:23):
Greetings.
We're Technically aConversation, a podcast for
curious one subject that rhymedGreetings.
We're technically aconversation, a podcast for
curious people by curious people.

Ad (01:29):
On our podcast we do things just a little bit different.
Every week we share a new topicand the other hosts have no
idea what the topic will be.

Joe (01:36):
Our topics are all over the place, from light and funny to
dark and sometimes spooky.

Ad (01:41):
We've covered everything from true crime, historical
events and people, thesupernatural and the occult.
I like that Urban legends andfolklore.

Joe (01:49):
My favorite.

Ad (01:50):
No matter what we cover, we try to make the episodes
interesting and funny.

Joe (01:56):
Don't mean to be the bad guy, but our lawyer said we
legally couldn't call our showfunny.

Ad (01:58):
We have a lawyer.
Let me tell you what I told ourlawyer.
Come here so I can show you howfar I can legally stick my
high-heeled boot up your Checkus out at
technicallyaconversationcom,apple Podcasts, spotify or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Joe (02:12):
Technically a conversation.

Ad (02:13):
We're like a lifestyle brand , yeah.

Joe (02:18):
Okay, so Lori V is one of those shows that really hasn't
picked up too much in thecontemporary sci-fi world since
it went off the air back in the1980s, which is kind of
surprising.
It had some good plot twistsand scenes with excellent drama
building.

Laurie (02:35):
Yeah, Joe, it sure did, and it had become a cult
sensation when it was on between1983 and 1985.
And it started with a two-partminiseries that led to regular
weekly shows that went on fortwo seasons on NBC and then it
was canceled and I enjoyedwatching it and was consumed by
it.
I was awestruck as an 80s kidand I couldn't wait for the next

(02:58):
episodes to air.
Absolutely loved the show.
But anyway, that's my personalopinion about it.
But there was a short rebootfrom 2009 to 2011, which, like
the original, was canceled aftertwo seasons.

Joe (03:12):
Now, I didn't think that that one was as good as the
original, of course, Right andthe original had some really
great special effects for thetime and it was highly watched
as a program.
I remember it was on Fridaynights and the network took it
off due to ratings and in 2011,the reboot was taken off because

(03:32):
of content problems with theFCC and they wanted to avoid
further legal trouble.
So it was definitely unique inits style and the producer and
screenwriter, kenneth Johnson, got a lot of inspiration from
early 20th century authors likeHarry Sinclair Lewis, who was
renowned for vivid andtantalizing descriptions in his

(03:53):
writing.
Johnson also directed otherwell-known TV series from back
then, like Bionic Woman, alienation and the Incredible
Hulk, the one that had BillBixby as David Banner.
So, anyway, the V is forvictory, not visitors, as a lot
of us had once thought, becausethat's what the aliens on the

(04:13):
show were called the visitors, but it actually referred to a
dramatic element in which thereis a human resistance to the
overtaking of the planet bythose same aliens.
As that story unfolds, we findthat groups of humans are waging
battles against these visitorswho, as it turns out, aren't
here to visit.
They're here to rule andexploit.

Laurie (04:36):
Yeah, on top of that, they also are lizards and, as
we've described the reptilianaliens many times before, they
are sinister, with a desire totake over the human race and
enslave us.
And the ones on V are just waycrafty, deceitful, conniving,

(04:57):
treacherous, as well asextremely intelligent.
They're adaptable and and evenshape-shifting.
Now, I too thought that the Vstood for visitors, but
storyline definitely turns tothe humans struggling against
them, and in many of the scenesthey are spray painting the
letter V on all of the postersput up.

(05:18):
You know that show the aliens asbeing kind and gentle toward
people, which, has we come tofind out, is a big lie.
At first we are friends withthem and then we end up in a
fight with them, and I guaranteeyou that our youth of tomorrow
will be going around taggingthose who may one day come from

(05:40):
the stars, even if an advancedextraterrestrial race does come
here, arrive here in peace, andthat is their agenda.
There will always be humanconspiracies, of course, and
whenever we do have firstcontact, some portion of our
population will be convinced, and they will convince many

(06:01):
others, that the visitors arenothing more than say mass
humans created by the US secretspace program, and so a
rebellion ensues, right.

Joe (06:12):
Right.
So this rebellion you'retalking about is laid out in a
weird way, particularly with howthe plot builds to that point,
as it turns out, the visitorswere in disguise to look like
ordinary humans.
Well, as it turns out, thevisitors were in disguise to
look like ordinary humans.
Well, actually, better thanordinary, they looked like
physically attractive humans.
They wore those fleshy, moulage, tight-fitting masks that gave

(06:33):
them very realistic human faceseyes, ears, mouth, hair.
And of course, they were nice.
They were friendly andbenevolent aliens, and let's not
forget that they spoke perfectEnglish.
They also had typical Americannames Diana, lydia, john,
nothing sounding, say, sumerian, like Ninurta or Durmaz, nothing

(06:57):
alien sounding.
They came to Earth from a planetin the system of the star
Sirius in search of naturalresources here that are in great
abundance, mainly water, whichon their world was in dire
depletion.
Now, the imagery right thereshould bring to mind the African
gnomos.
They are the water godsbelieved by the Dogon tribe that

(07:19):
have come to earth in thedistant past from the star
Sirius B, and they are depictedmuch in the same way as the
anunnaki, and that they arerepresentative of the divine in
the minds of the ancients, byteaching mankind the special
types of knowledge, astronomy, mathematics, music, writing.
That made us who we are.
That made us the in advance asa species.

(07:41):
And, according to the dogonpeople, these beings were
reptilian in their appearanceand needed water.

Laurie (07:48):
Yeah, that's right.
And they were also believed tohave come from the sky into the
water, or they splashed downinto the water and from there
they came ashore to teach thosetools for civilization building.
And they were amphibious.
And there is an apparentparallel to this mythology of
reptilian beings foundthroughout our deeply rooted

(08:09):
traditions.
In addition to being extremelywise and intelligent, they are
also extreme tricksters andswindlers.
Now in the show V, theyinitially come to Earth in large
saucer-shaped ships landing inseveral places, california being
one of them, and it's much likewhat we see in Independence Day

(08:33):
these big saucer-type shipscoming and landing over key
points and key cities fromaround the world.
In V they announced that theycome in peace, which in the
Independence Day that was notthe case at all, but they asked
for our help.
They say they need our help andall they need is some of our

(08:56):
water and in return for thewater, they will share with us
all of their advanced technology.

Joe (09:03):
Yeah, that right there is reminiscent of Sitchin's theory
that has the Anunnaki cominghere for a much-needed mineral
that is abundant on Earth Inthis case it's gold and the
benefit to the inhabitants thatbeing our ancestors is being
able to learn all that they knowabout science and technology
from these very advancedextraterrestrials, which is what

(09:26):
, in turn, eventually makes usHomo sapiens.

Laurie (09:30):
Yeah, and as the story goes, it was all ploy, of course
, and they came to steal thewater and abduct people, but
underneath their humanoidappearance they were reptilians
and they were putting humansinto cryogenic sleep and
transporting them back to theirhome world.
So in the movie, they weresmart enough to come in human

(09:54):
disguise to not startle us andto gain our trust, which would
make sense.
And if there is any possibilitythat we one day will encounter
a sophisticated reptilian racewith some kind of lizard-type
appearance, they could be largerand even aggressive, and just
think of a crocodile, forexample.
It is a scary force to reckonwith, and the best example I can

(10:17):
think of for an upright walkingcroc is from the 2015 movie
Jupiter Ascending, with MinaKunis and Channing Tatum.
It's more like an intelligent,upright-talking, clothes-wearing
mix of a raptor or T-Rex-shapedhead being named Tiskalikin, or

(10:37):
Tiskalikin a Sargon.
So if they wanted to be mosteffective at subduing us with
little or no resistance, theywould want to conjole us, and
that's exactly what the aliensdo in the V-Series in order to
try and take over the planet.

(10:57):
Now, just like the Sumerianmythology that you're talking
about, where the god Enki has adesire for peace and advancement
for the human race.
So too do we find in theV-series a scientist character
named Martin, who wants tocoexist with humans and not eat
or enslave them.
But the aliens also dobiological experiments to make

(11:21):
hybridized offspring from namingone of the human characters
with one of the visitors.

Joe (11:27):
Yes, we can see all sorts of parallels with this Sumerian
mythology and the story thesci-fi movie V, but the theme in
the movie takes on a peculiarallusion to also political
philosophy.
It pertains to how societal andglobal change can give rise to
totalitarianism.
Now, there was actually a paperdone about this, according to

(11:50):
the thesis presented by Dan Koppin August 2019, under the title
Nazi Lizards from Outer Spacethe Politics, literature and
Cultural History of KennethJohnson's V.
There is a noticeable allegoryto the rise of fascism in the
1930s and it's seen in thesymbols in the show.
There is that emblem that theyhave on their ships and uniforms

(12:14):
.
Some people might say it looksalmost like a swastika.
There's that special wave, special hand wave, special
handshake that they use and theuniforms that they wear kind of
make you think of militaryfascism.
And probably most significantlyis the message they bring,
which is to unify everythinginto a world of perfection and

(12:35):
harmony.
And there's even anorganization that forms as the
series progresses and it'scalled the Visitor Youth, which
seems to hearken to the hitleryouth, which was formed to make
revolutionary followers out ofyoung boys.
So there is this comparison toreptilians to be in totalitarian

(12:55):
.
They're not being depicted inany kind of friendly, diplomatic
or democratic way as well.
They're seen as dictatorial andhere to bring rule by force.

Laurie (13:12):
Right, and that goes to show that right, there is an
agenda behind.
You know they're coming here, they had an agenda and you know
this might be what some alienrace in the future has when they
come to Earth.
They're going to be kind andbenevolent.
It's probably going to be anempire and they're probably

(13:47):
going to try and wipe us out.
But with V, like we saidearlier, they were eating us or
they were freezing us to eat us.
Remember that old black andwhite Twilight?

Joe (14:00):
Zone episode called to serve man.
Um v strongly reminds me ofthat.
Yeah, I do remember it, and forthose who are not familiar with
it, the twilight zone washosted by rod sterling.
It ran on cbs from 1959 to 1964and this particular episode it
was the twilight zone was aseries, a series.
Each episode was standalone.
This one aired in 1962, and itpresents a story about a race of

(14:23):
nine-foot-tall ETs calledKanimets, who have very large,
bulbous heads and theycommunicate telepathically and
their message is to bring peaceand humanitarian aid to our
world, which is in a nationalcrisis.
They claim that their planet isa perfect utopia and a
beautiful paradise and that theypromise to teach humanity to do

(14:45):
the same thing, even going asfar as to dissolve the US
military.
Anyway, as it turns out, theCanamites are luring everyone
into a state of peacefulness andtrust so that they can harvest
them for food to be taken backon their home planet.
So the title To Serve man is aplay on words.
It is not to serve man, but toserve man as serve man up as a

(15:10):
meal.
The show closes with RodSterling narrating the
metamorphosis from being theruler of a planet to the
ingredient in someone's soup.
So yeah, there is thatcomparison to to V and that you
know whether they want to eat usor enslave us, the.
The message is that they'regoing to utilize us, as, I guess

(15:31):
, in the same way we do withanimals here on our planet, and
we eat them and and use them asbeasts of burden and I said this
before, but this is.

Laurie (15:40):
This is kind of eerie when you think about even the
book of revelation, of how youknow I think it's john or jesus
talking about how there's agreat harvest.
He refers to people as harvest, you know, gathering the harvest
from around the world to takeback to their, you know, to
heaven, which we believe couldbe a planet.

Joe (16:00):
So yeah, why did I have to use the word harvest?

Laurie (16:03):
Yeah that's, that's, that's eerie, that's scary.
So but right, and V has thesame theme to it, with the
aliens achieving human trust sothat they can, you know, harvest
them as food or else use themas slaves, as you said.
But I just think we humans mayone day be hunted, and I don't

(16:23):
mean by the lone naturalpredators from the animal
kingdom, such as the bear, lion, tiger or mammals like sharks or
whatever, but I am talkingabout being rounded up by a more
powerful, but I am talkingabout being rounded up by a more
powerful, more advancedcivilization that may see humans
as delicacies.
Just like in V, we too may oneday be strung up like cattle and

(16:45):
frozen to be thawed and eaten.
We may be the backyard grill ofa reptilian family one day.
I mean, we may be conscious andsentient beings, but the bodies
we inhabit, they're meat, muscle and bones.

Joe (17:01):
Yeah, and that would all really suck.
It does seem quite far-fetched,I know, but we also are aware
that terrible things do happen.
Most species do harm the otherones, even members of the same
species, particularly if theyare carnivorous, and we know

(17:21):
that humans themselves dohorrific things to one another,
up to and including eating offlesh.
We've all heard of cannibalism, right, and humanity is a pretty
vulnerable position right now,and I guess you can say they
always have been, but I meansure within the past century.
Let's look at all of ourtechnological advancement, all

(17:44):
the things that have made ourlives easier and more worthwhile
, more comforts, moreconveniences, more basic needs
being met.
We still always seem to be onthe brink of a disaster where
the premonition is far worsethan it ever has been.
Life has gotten better becauseof our progress, but the threat
to our survival and even ourexistence has gotten way way

(18:07):
worse than it ever has.
And the modern mechanized wars,uh, that have happened, uh,
they do indeed show that to bethe case.

Laurie (18:20):
Yeah, with the inflammation of drones and
everything now and all thesevideos that we're watching of
drones killing soldiers and allthat.
And you're right, I mean, humans are so conniving and I
don't know what it's going totake for us to actually come to
peace and stop killing oneanother.
Maybe it will take some outsideinterference, but even then

(18:45):
there's a lot of hope lost forhumanity.
But I mean, well into theMiddle Ages there were continual
wars where thousands of peopledied.
When World War I came about, the death toll was 40 million
just in that one war.
And then World War II, onlyabout 25 years after that, with

(19:06):
another 70 million plus and 6million in the Holocaust.
So yeah, life has gotten easierfor us in many ways, but the
propensity for destruction hasbeen magnified about a
thousandfold.
Even now we are on the brink ofwhat seems to be World War III.
If there is ever a time to cometogether, it is now.

(19:28):
If we were to know what may lieahead of us, we could and
should be prepared, not tomention united.
Instead, we seem to find newways for us to become divided, I
would say almost on a dailybasis.
So we're definitely not makingour problems go away.
In fact, we're adding to them.
Just look at how many peoplewere killed this past year in

(19:50):
the conflicts between Russia andUkraine and, most recently,
israel and Hamas, between Russiaand Ukraine and, most recently,
israel and Hamas.
I mean we don't stop, and Ibelieve the only way we will
cease the killing of one anotheris when we are faced with our
own annihilation, our species,by a much more powerful and
superior, and it has to beextraterrestrial race out there

(20:14):
that's going to do that.
That's going to be our bully, and that's why we're in this
vulnerable position is becausethe world isn't going to trust
another human.
The new leader, well, it wouldhave to be someone from another
world that's going to come andswoo us and show us all these
things and offer us all thesethings, and I mean it could be.

(20:36):
It could be good intentions, orit could be the worst of
intentions, who knows?

Joe (20:43):
Well, in the storyline of V , the aliens, or the visitors,
come to do that very thing.
At least that is how it seemsin the beginning.
They not only bring theirtechnology, they bring order and
and an ideology that friendshipand peace are universal and
that different species fromdifferent planets can coexist in

(21:03):
a productive symbiosis.
That certainly sounds great, but the whole thing is based on
an intrinsic deception, both inthe ideology and in the ones who
are carrying it out.
The visitors are concealing whothey really are underneath the
visible layer, both in what theylook like and in what they want
.
Like I mentioned earlier, thealiens are here to start a new

(21:24):
world order, just like we heardbefore from just about every
governmental regime on Earth, and in the show the main plot
unfolds.
We see that people are becomingindoctrinated to believe things
that are not true, and this is apretty interesting analogy,
especially with the way thingsare going today.

(21:47):
It's an interesting analogy tosee how people take part in
political and social movements, and in the show people are being
taught to trust the visitorsand to believe that they have
come to help us.
Anyone who is questioning thatlike that one scientist,
actually a group of scientistswho are very skeptical and
trying to show that there'sevidence to discredit what is

(22:10):
being taught by the visitorsvisitors, in this case, those
scientists are silenced, canceled out or even taken away,
just like we saw happen withNazi Germany.
In fact, there was even acharacter on the series who was
a grandfather.
He was a survivor of the JewishHolocaust.
He's very skeptical about thevisitors and their message of

(22:35):
unity and rule of law and ruleof order, and his grandson is
actually one of the people whojoined the visitor youth and
this disturbs him very muchbecause he remembers the story
of the Hitler youth and hethinks that this is very much
the same thing.

Laurie (22:55):
Yeah, I remember that episode and you're right, and we
see a lot of that.
I think what we're seeing todayis, I think we're preparing for
that same thing, even in today, with the youth and all the
anarchy that we've been seeing, with all the Antifa and those

(23:15):
types of groups, those uh, youknow types of groups.
But, you know, looking at itfrom a modern day perspective,
it makes some sense of the wholealien phenomenon.
Is is becoming more and moreprevalent in today's society and
we think about that movie.
They live with, uh, roddy piper, the uh, the zombie slash,
reptilian type aliens that alsowalk among humans disguised as

(23:35):
them, and I sent you an articleby someone from um har Harvard
explaining how they declaimedaliens are walking among us,
right, right, I saw that yeah.
So that was in an article byscience reporter Jess Thompson
for newsweekcom titled aliensmay already live on earth.

(23:55):
Harvard researchers say so.
When I saw that I was like huh,so this was just dated just a
week of June 14th 2024.
The news piece says that a paperby Harvard researchers says
that life forms from otherworlds could be living
underground on Earth or withinthe moon and that UFOs and other

(24:18):
unidentified anomalousphenomena UAPs, may be evidence
of them getting around.
And it elaborated by saying thatin this particular paper they
discussed several theories abouthow aliens may be walking
undetected among us, which isknown as the human you know
crypto terrestrials theory thatsuggests there may be an ancient

(24:42):
human civilization moretechnologically advanced in us
that survived, or that may be anon-human civilization that may
have evolved into unknownintelligent dinosaurs.
Unknown intelligent dinosaurs.
Now there's a chillingconspiracy theory out there
which suggests that some of thefamous celebrities and world

(25:03):
leaders are some kind of lizardcreature, sometimes called
saurians, that are underneathhuman skin.
So this was really trusted intothe limelight in the past 10
years by we all know him by nowthe former British sportscaster
named David Icke, who hasclaimed that certain Western
political leaders like GeorgeBush and Klaus Schwab and Queen

(25:24):
Elizabeth are exactly nothingmore than lizard aliens who are
the ones controlling the worldand its economy.

Joe (25:35):
Yeah, you might need to also throw Mark Zuckerberg in
with that batch economy.
Yeah, you might need to alsothrow Mark Zuckerberg in with
that batch yeah.
For those who don't know of him, david Icke is a conspiracy
theorist and an author who, inrecent years, has put forward a
notion that paranormal events, psychic activity, alien
interdimensionality and secretsocieties like the Illuminati

(25:55):
are what is controllingeverything even now as we speak,
like the Illuminati are what iscontrolling everything even now
as we speak.
And one of the things he hasclaimed is that reptilian beings
are in human disguise or inshapeshifted form and are
responsible for so much havocbeing wreaked upon everything.
Just like is played out in B,where we see this Orwellian way

(26:16):
of life being brought uponhumanity by aliens who become
our new rulers and bring about, like I said, the rule of law,
the rule of order, but also thesuppression of freedom Freedom
of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of press, all those
constitutional rights that wehold core to our democracy and
our republic to our democracyand our republic.

Laurie (26:45):
It makes you wonder if all that will go away.
When, say, the Anunnaki return?
If they are reptilian beings, all what we have fought for and
established may all day one daygo away and we may be under the
rule of a tyrantextraterrestrial race.
You know, what pretty much isbeing described here is the

(27:05):
whole Rutilian race.
And then there's Thompson'sarticle.
Says that this idea is likelyto be regarded skeptically by
most scientists and that weshould argue this possibility
and not dismiss it, but that itdeserves genuine consideration
in a spirit of epistemichumility and openness.

(27:28):
So here's a story to expoundupon.
A few weeks ago or so ago on thePBD podcast, they were talking
about President Joe Bidenwearing a mask and they were
questioning whether or not hehas some type of body double.
Because if you watch a clip ofBiden talking, he is very

(27:49):
coherent.
I think he's on some type ofnews program doing an interview,
but a week or so, maybe longer, prior to that he was mumbling
and he looked old and frail.
Totally different person, itseemed.
But in a later video it lookslike he is wearing some type of
mask, because you can see whatlooks like a different skin tone

(28:13):
on his neck, just below hisAdam's apple.
Now this, of course, could beAI-generated or whatever.
We can't rule that out.
But you know, given thedifferences in the two videos,
it makes one wonder, becausewhen you look at the neck it
looks like it's actually moving.
You know, between the two skintones.

Joe (28:35):
Yeah, and you know this was brought up by someone named
Jonah Mendez, a sort of masterof disguise for the CIA.
So there's this image that justsurfaced recently she's holding
up a mask that she once worewhile talking to President
George Bush Sr.
Ok, she was talking to him andhe didn't even realize it was a

(28:56):
person in a mask, and that wasback in the early 90s.
So some of the material usedfor the moulage that forms these
masks are indeed very realisticand convincing.
Performers and live stagetheaters have used them for many
, many years to get into theircharacter.

Laurie (29:13):
Exactly so.
It makes you wonder what theyhave now that may be even more
sophisticated to improve theappearance and make it lifelike.
Jonah Mendez.
She's talking in a clip sayingand this is her quote, I think
it's one of those almost like aTED Talk or something like that

(29:33):
where she's on the stage andanyway she's talking to a group
of people and and she says weinvented a whole new genre of
masks, masks that are so good, that are so realistic that you
can actually get up close andhave personal contact with
someone for an extended periodof time.
So if they're good enough tofool the president of the United

(29:57):
States in a briefing at theOval Office, then they are
designed well enough to trickanyone.
Cia officials are actuallysaying that these masks are the
beginning of a whole new type ofintelligence and espionage work
going on and that they canessentially make a doppelganger
a twin image out of anyone inthe world.
Essentially make a doppelgangera twin image out of anyone in
the world.

Joe (30:18):
Well, if that's so, then that would actually lend some
credence to V.
If there were highlyintelligent humanoid reptilians
like on the show, then I guessthey would be able to devise
such masks.
That would be quite convincing.
One of the things I alwaysthought to be strange about V is
some of the acting dynamics.
The visitors always wore theirmasks to the point that it

(30:41):
seemed like that was theiridentity.
It was like how they evenrecognized and knew each other,
not from their lizard selvesunderneath.
In one of the episodes, youknow, some of the female aliens
were swooned by a handsome malealien and there even seemed to
be like a romantic chemistrythat formed.
But it was all with themwearing their very attractive

(31:03):
human masks.
So to me that was odd, like ifyou were, it's like if you had,
you know, hideous looking peoplegoing around wearing beautiful
masks and then becomingphysically attracted to one
another simply because of howthe masks look, nevermind of who
they really.
Never mind who they really looklike, who they really are or
what they look like.

Laurie (31:22):
But don't we have that right now with Facebook photos
and stuff?

Joe (31:27):
But this was the 80s and that technology didn't exist, so
the best you could do would become up with a very good moulage
and a mask to wear.
Come up with a very good uhmoulage and a mask to wear.
Uh, it seemed like there wassomething I don't know uh
unintuitive about that.
You know like, wait a minute, you're attracted to this person
who's really a lizard.

(31:48):
If it wasn't for the mask, would you be attracted to him
that way?

Laurie (31:53):
well, they're lizards, so they need to put on that, um
you know, mammalian beauty and,in order to attract a mate,
right Reptilian romance.
That would just be wrong.
I guess I shouldn't say thatSome of them could be listening
to us.

Joe (32:09):
Yeah, so they're out there.
They might hear you, Laurie, and we don't want to offend them
.
No, we don't.
Of course we know that thefaces we see are the actors'
real faces and the lizard skinthat is the costume.
But in terms of the storyelements, in terms of how that
goes, it just seems phony anddisingenuous, you know.

Laurie (32:30):
Yeah yeah, we don't want to be on next week's reptilian,
some reptilian family's grill.
But there is one thing that isinteresting to note.
It's how the whole series ends.
So in the final episode thevisitors win in taking over the
Earth and the two of the mainprotagonists, juliet and Elias

(32:54):
they send out a radiotransmission into space asking
for help from any other alienraces out there.
So it's kind of a chillingfinale, but one that reveals
that there may be more than justone extraterrestrial
civilization that has an agendafor us.

Joe (33:10):
Yeah, certainly it was a very dire way to end the show
with perhaps a very seriousmessage for humanity.
End the show with perhaps avery serious message for
humanity.
I don't know.
But I'm glad that, at least asfar as that story is concerned,
it is all fictional.
So that will conclude this show.
We want to keep it kind ofshort today.
Tomorrow starts the 4th of Julyweekend here in the States, so

we hope you all have a safe andenjoyable holiday.

all-American gal, my wife.
Love you, babe, and hope youhave a great day tomorrow.
