In fact, your story has the power to encourage, empower, and uplift others who are facing the same battle - to save lives!
Sitting next to Megan, listening to her story, I (Samantha) felt so many emotions. There was heartbreak for what she had to endure, but also immense joy in seeing how she turned her life around. She is now a shining light for so many, and we believe she will be a voice that reaches far and wide to help others heal.
Addiction is close to my heart. I’ve seen friends and family fight this battle, and I understand the stigma that comes with it. Watching someone you love, who is an amazing person, be judged or dismissed because of their addiction is heartbreaking. Society often fails to see that addiction is not a reflection of someone’s worth. The hypocrisy of how addiction is viewed can be the hardest part to bear.
Most of us have had our moments of drinking too much or experimenting with things we shouldn’t have, and most get to chalk it up as a "young and dumb" moment, but for some, it turns into a dark cloud never goes away. It becomes the fight of their lives. But here’s the truth: there is always hope. No matter how long the cloud has been hovering over you, tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start. Sobriety is possible, whether you’ve been struggling for a year or for 20 years.
