Kentucky Common may be a lesser known beer style, but it has seen an increase in interest in recent years, thanks at least in part to it now being included in the BJCP Style Guidelines. How do new styles get added to the guidelines? And what is the effect?
For those who love Kentucky Common, they know that it has a wonderful sweetness from malt and corn. It is similar to cream ale, but features darker color. Like many beer styles, Kentucky Common evolved because of the ingredients that were available to area brewers and the climate in which they brewed. Kentucky Common is a delicious, thirst-quenching trip in a time machine.
