The Huntsville Prison Siege of 1974 was one of the longest hostage-taking events in U.S. history. Three prisoners, led by heroin kingpin Federico Carrasco, carried out an armed takeover of the educational complex at the Huntsville Unit and managed to hold over a dozen hostages captive for 11 excruciating days. The siege would end with a bizarre escape plan, a bloody gunfight, and the deaths of four people.

March 2nd to March 21st, 2018: For twenty days, the capital city of Texas was terrorized by a spree bomber with no clear motivation who worked at a rapid pace. The Austin bombing spree became one of the largest bomb investigations in the United States, the largest since the Boston Marathon bombing of 2013.
