Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, hello guys, and thank you for tuning in to
another episode of All ThingsSkin Podcast Today.
I am super excited to have withme Connor Roberts.
Connor is the wholesale managerfor Optimal Human and so
excited to have you here today.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yes, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
I'm a huge fan of Optimal Human.
I was talking to you a littlebit before we started.
It's part of my every morningroutine.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Yeah, it sounds like you got a lot of the net regimen
too.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Yeah yeah, we'll talk a little bit more about what
else I throw in my Optimal Humanshake every morning.
But tell us a little bit, connor.
Tell us about you, tell usabout Optimal Human and how you
got started with them, and we'lljust go through the whole story
.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Well, first off off, thanks for having me, of course,
thanks for supporting us withcarrying our product in your
stores.
Yes, we love it.
Second podcast ever.
So this is exciting.
Uh, well, welcome.
Yeah, no, it's, it's a greatsetup.
Uh, we're really excited to behere.
We just rebranded everything,so it's looking really good.
Yeah, because it was one ofthose things that we can get
into a little bit later.
But that first one, firstversion of optimal hue, and you

(01:12):
walk up to it and you kind oflike what is this right?
Right, it's a cool branding, but like, what is this drink
right or mixture?
So we really wanted to putsomething on the shelves that
really pumped on certain thingsthat we feel like our product
provides that maybe others don'tor give.
So I went down to Dallas, tookthese tests, took these

(01:48):
characteristic tests, tried toget some guidance on where I'm
wanting to go.
What is your path in?

Speaker 1 (01:55):
life.
What is my path in?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
life and I've always been pretty health-oriented.
I've been running for probablyeight, 10 years.
Health was very oriented untilyou know I well it was.
It was oriented and then it gotmore advanced when I stopped
drinking and that's really whatled me into where I am, thank

(02:20):
you.
Where I am now, which is, youknow, ran my first marathon at a
730 base, three hours, 15minutes, like it's.
It's a really.
It really is amazing to see, like, what the body can do and
where it can go.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
So health and fitness became kind of your passion.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
It did.
Yeah, ok, so my buddy, who theowners of the company?
But my buddy, colin, wastalking to me about it and
telling me about it and you knowthey bought every single green
on the market and basically putall of it in front of them and
like ten thousand dollars worthof just green products.
How can we make the best one?

(02:59):
And that's kind of how OptimalHuman became it.
You know it was.
We wanted to make it betterthan the industry leader, which
was AG1.
Right, and we also wanted tomake it, you know, more consumer
effective in terms of price, interms of taste, which we'll get
into more.
But it's there for six to sevenmonths.

(03:20):
I didn't know really what I wasgoing to do.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Well, we are so glad you have found yourself and
we're so glad Optimal Humanfound you and it's probably
helping your pace, helping youroverall fitness goals.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
It is exactly yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
So let's tell our customer a little bit, just in
detail.
What is Optimal Human?
Yeah, you know what.
What are the ingredients?
Why did?
Why was it created?
You know?
Tell us those kinds of things.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Yeah, so we wanted to create a product that was
US-based.
We wanted to create somethingthat was all natural, but we
also wanted it to taste decentand that really is more
attractive to the youngergeneration.
That really is more attractiveto the younger generation.
Just off of a Spoon Moon eventthat we hosted a couple weekends

(04:09):
ago, which was mostly collegegirls and sorority girls and
they love the taste of it andthat's something that they can
easily get down in the morning.
It can be easily a part oftheir routine.
But it's really just a way tostart your day.

(04:31):
It's a.
It's a good way to start yourday feeling good, having a
healthy gut moving into the day, having less, um, you know, mind
fog, um, etc.
So it's it's just a common.
It's the gap, it's a gap fillerfor the common diet, because
the FDA has been crazy with whatthey've been putting out and
the foods and all that stuff iskind of coming to fruition.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
The American diet is the least healthy diet on the
planet.
It really is, and it's shockingto me how many people don't eat
vegetables at all.
Like I think I was mentioningmy adorable niece.
She's probably going to kill mefor this, but she literally
won't eat a vegetable unlessit's fried or covered in

(05:13):
something delicious like cheese, and so pretty much her whole
plate is brown.
You know when she eats, youknow.
So I'm like girl, we got to getyou off something, you know,
besides the bar food.
We got to help you out sooptimal.
So I'm like girl, we got to getyou off something besides the
bar food, we got to help you out.
So Optimal Human is somethingthat you know I've introduced to
her and really my whole family,my kids, I mean.
They're pretty healthy, butthey're 17 year old.

(05:34):
You know twins, you know.
Trying to get them to reallyeat healthy it's a problem,
right.
Luckily, their older sister is,she has her master's in
biochemistry and nutrition andso she's very health and fitness
oriented.
So, yes, it's been so great andwe have nerded out together.
You know, as I've started thiskind of wellness journey, it's

(05:56):
been a large degree due to Ali,because she taught me so much
about gosh.
We are really screwing up asAmericans.
Our diet is terrible.
It's leading to metabolicdysfunction, which leads to
everything else heart disease, dementia, you know all of the
diabetes, all of the things,right.
So I just love that you guysare creating a product like this

(06:18):
that does fill those gaps, because I can make my kids get a
shake down you know I can andyou know they're probably not
going to, you know swallow ahandful of vitamins and
supplements.
But this is easy, you know.
Throw this in with your normalprotein shake and you just you
kind of got got the day startedreally, really well.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, exactly yeah.
And the idea behind that is youknow, we can't all be farmers
and, and you know, growing allof these crops up on our, we
can't, we don't have the time,um, so we wanted to create
something that was convenient,something easy.
Uh, I, I mixed mine withcreatine, like, like you
mentioned, uh, collagen proteinpowder, mix it with whatever you
want.
Smoothies, um, make it yourtaste.

(07:01):
I mean, it's yours to make andyeah, and that's the thing too,
connor, it really does tastegood.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
I mean it, I mean it's yours to make.
Yeah, and that's the thing too, connor, it really does taste
good.
I mean it doesn't have, it'snot overpowering at all.
It doesn't taste chalky, whichis great.
And you know I was a big AG1girl.
You know I've been taking AG1sfor a long time because I've
been.
I totally drank the Kool-Aid afew years back with Huberman and
all of those guys and they'reproponents of that.

(07:24):
But we need to get you on theHuberman lab.
That's what we need to do.
We need to get Optimal Human upthere, because it's really more
things in it than AG1 has.
So tell us a little bit abouthow it compares to AG1, because
a lot of people probably knowthat brand.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, so that's exactly what I go off of.
So I used to do retention aswell with Optimal Human, so I
got to hear the feedback fromAG1 users to Optimal Human users
so I really got a good grasp onit.
The three things that really Ibroke it down to were the
transparency and the.
You know the, the quality ofthe ingredients putting in um.

(08:05):
You know optimal human reallyprioritizes the, the, the
transparency, um in theingredients and the dosage that
we are wanting you to take andthe minerals and nutrients that
are actually involved in that.
And that's something that AG1doesn't do, which you've all
seen the kind of shady news inthe press and whatever but to

(08:28):
determine the exact nutrientamounts.
They make it very hard tofigure out what that is, and
what we've tried to do is justmake it as transparent as
possible, like I've got anutrition profile right here.
We have the ingredients on ourwebsite.
They're very easy to find.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
That's amazing, and I mean all of us on this wellness
journey.
We're trying to make sure we'reputting the right things in our
bodies, and so if you can'tfigure out what's actually in
what you're taking, then how canyou make sure you're doing that
well?
So I love the transparency part.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, exactly yeah, and then you know we're.
I think the cost and the valueis a huge player now too,
because people are spendingmoney on on wellness and their
pets and that's it really rightnow.
Yeah, that's wellness for meand wellness for my dog Exactly.
Yeah so it's your cost and yourvalue of a scoop, scoop of

(09:22):
optimal human AG1 is night andday.
You know it's.
I always tell people imagine, walking down the whole foods
aisle.
You're getting your vitamins, your supplements, your minerals,
what you think you should putin your body, when you don't
actually even really know ifthat's going to be absorbed
correctly.
If it's got, I mean, you can bequite literally urinating out

(09:45):
money.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Oh for sure, don't know that yeah, well, none of
the supplement market is reallyregulated, and that's what a lot
of people don't know.
If these aren't drugs, you knowthese.
These are considered, you know, nutritional supplements.
So there's no real regulationand people can claim anything,
um, and so what you guys areactually doing, you know to to

(10:06):
really make sure that you'redoing these organic, these
products that are so, so healthyfor you, and you're making sure
that they get absorbed intoyour body.
You're also supporting the gut.
So talk to us about is itprebiotics?
Probiotics what do you have in?

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, so I think just to.
I wanted to say this because Ithink most of our listeners are.
I try to talk to them likethey're five-year-olds because I
won't be able to talk to me,but I'm not.
I don't know about a wellnessproduct.
You're not the expert, right?

(10:43):
And prebiotics are thenon-digestible food ingredients
that actually promote growth andactivity of beneficial bacteria
in the gut, because there issome bacteria that is beneficial
to have, yeah, so, yeah, wehave both of those prebiotics
probiotics and people are reallyalways kind of blown away to

(11:03):
see that we have both of thosein there.
And you know, that's somethingthat we felt was necessary to
put in that drink as well.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Well, gut health is a huge thing.
Yeah, it is.
And you know the microbiome.
We keep learning more and moreabout the microbiome.
We've learned that skin evenhas its own microbiome.
Your GI tract has its ownmicrobiome, and when those
bacteria are not in balance, youdon't get good absorption, you
know.
So it doesn't really matterwhat you're putting in your body

(11:32):
.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
If your gut's not healthy, right, you can't really
absorb those things yeah, themethylidating of the vitamins,
stuff like that, that's stuffthat you really need to look for
and that's something thatpeople usually don't look for.
Yeah, and I didn't look for itbecause I mean, I'm seven months
into this thing, so I'mlearning every, every day.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Well, you guys are fixing it for us, because now we
just don't have to think aboutit.
We know you've got all the goodstuff in there for us.
So let's talk about some ofthese ingredients.
Let's talk about, likespirulina.
Tell us about that.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Yeah, so spirulina that's.
I had to take me forever toeven pronounce that, but yeah,
it's great for skin.
It's great for skin health One,it's high in nutrient content.
It's got good stuff for yourimmune support, brain health.
Overall, it's just for mepersonally.

(12:21):
I have high cholesterol, so itmanages, excuse me, like LDL
levels, triglyceride levels, soso, yeah, that that was a key
ingredient.
Blood pressure is another oneof those.
Um, so, yeah, I was actually onmedicine and I am actually now
off my cholesterol medicinebecause of this product that
feels really good, doesn't it?

Speaker 1 (12:41):
it does, yeah it does .

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Don't worry about taking cholesterol medicine
because, like you said on yourpodcast, we need to be more
proactive and right exactly,exactly.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
So yeah, just because you don't have a diagnosis of
high cholesterol or high bloodpressure, this is a great thing
to start, because this canactually be that preventative
thing that might keep you fromgoing down that path.
So I love that.
I've gotten hugely into thewhole idea of preventative
medicine.
As you know, kind of nerd outabout it a little bit.

(13:13):
So tell us another ingredientor two that you love that's in
Optimal Human, that makes itkind of special or different.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
So I think the mushroom extract is very unique
to any product in the wellnessspace, is very unique to any
product in the wellness space, from the relish relish, relish
mushroom to the the lion's mane,ashwagandha it's.
It really brings that kind ofsteady, calm focus for me.
It really kind of levels outyour day, gives you that natural

(13:44):
energy that I really like andyou know the the gap filling is
huge for me because I'm a hugesnacker.
This really does.
I'm not hungry until dinner, like I drink in the morning.
They're on my day.
I forget to eat because I'mbusy doing stuff and you know it
really does fill your gap.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
So well, I'm kind of a.
I'm kind of a faster in themorning, so this is what I drink
, this is.
I do this in the morning.
I was telling you my littleconcoction.
You know, I've got my proteinpowder that I put in it.
I put my fiber in there, I putmy collagen in there.
I've recently added colostrum, even because I'm literally going
over the top trying to doeverything um anti-aging and

(14:25):
health related.
Well, thanks, I'm trying, I'mtrying.
You know you hit 50 and you'relike, dang, I'm on the downside
man.
You know you get to that 50 andyou think, yeah, I'm at middle
age for real.
I hope, I hope I live to 102.
Probably not, do you?
I don't know?
I kind of do, and I think thereason is because I want to

(14:45):
really take care of myself.
You know I don't want to liveto 102 and be in a home and not
able to walk or exercise, butyeah, I'd love to live to 102
and still be traveling and stillbe, you know, able to.

(15:05):
You know, go out and enjoydoing the things I enjoy doing.
So, yeah, you know it's moreabout I think we talk about
lifespan these days, but it'sreally more health span, right,
I mean I would rather live to 90and be super healthy than live
to 102.
And that's what I'm not andfeel really awful, so yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
So, yeah, that's why I'm doing all the things.
Yeah, longevity is great, butbeing healthy while you're still
kicking around here is reallythe key right, especially with
kids.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
Oh yeah, gosh, I don't know how they have so much
energy.
I wish I could put all that andtell what we did here.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
I think you've done it.
Yeah, I think you've done itBecause I mean, I really do.
I can tell when I don't do myregimen.
I'm dragging at like two in theafternoon.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
I can really tell and that's the thing too is like
you can drink that and then goeat a Pop-Tart now.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
No, you're not going to no.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
You're going to feel good.
You're going to eat a salad forlunch, you're going to go for a
run, you're going to getoutside, you're going to get
some vitamin D.
I mean, this is really thekickstarter for your day.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Yeah, that's the beautiful thing, you know.
Then that guilt kicks in.
You see that donut in the breakroom.
You're less likely to grab it.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Really and truly you are.
I mean, it's scientificallyproven, Truly, and it's like
make your bed.
You know it's so easy.
It's such an easy concept thatpeople don't do and won't do
Every day.
You just can stay disciplinedand consistent with it.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
It's there's a whole book about it.
There's a whole book aboutmaking your bed.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I read them all.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
So it is.
It's about jump-starting yourday and doing what's healthy for
you, and I just love that youguys have created this for us.
Now let's talk about peoplethat maybe have gluten
sensitivity or dairy sensitivity, things like that.
Anybody, any of those people?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Certified gluten-free , dairy-free, soy-free, amazing,
yep.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
So you're good on all aspects and no GMOs for those
that are, yeah, really anti-GMO.
I totally get that.
That's amazing.
So we're doing all kinds ofthings.
So you kind of hinted at this.
So it's not only your guthealth, it's not only getting
your vitamins and nutrients in,but this is also good for for,

(17:07):
like, cognitive function andstress.
It's like you were talkingabout ashwagandha.
Some of those things can reallybe almost natural anti-anxiety
type treatment.
Yeah, the mushrooms, yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
It's.
It's.
It's something that you know.
I think that mental health inthis nation is really becoming
an issue.
You know, I think that mentalhealth in this nation is really
becoming an issue and thatstarts with anxiety and stress
and identity crisis almost aftercollege and, like I experienced
in the career change you know, not knowing who you are, and

(17:40):
it's you know.
When you can add these kind ofsupplements into your daily
routine, it really can, you know, make it.
It can make you pivot, pivot inthe in a way that is so
beneficial.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, just to help you manage that stress yeah,
absolutely yeah, cause whenyou're, when you're clear headed
and then that just makeseverything a little bit better.
Makes everything a little bitbetter.
All right, so talk to us alittle bit about you know kind
of how, how do you put this intoyour regimen?
How do you recommend people youknow get this into their

(18:14):
regimen so that they, you know, really are getting these
benefits?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
You know, I think that you know, like Premier
offers, you know, a consultation.
You guys can provide that and,on a person-to-person basis, be
able to tell them what they need.
And it really comes down to howbad that person wants it.
You know how bad do you want tolose the weight, how bad do you
want to live longer andhealthier, how bad you know.
And that it comes down to, youknow, that consistency, that

(18:39):
discipline.
For me it was at first, it wasI'm so ADHD that I have to
literally scoop it into this, leave it by the water filler and
fill it up before I leave inthe morning.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
You have to take all of the steps out of it.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
You do.
You have to write it down, youknow, make sure that it's on
your calendar, check it off, dowhatever you have to do, Because
once you get into the routine,it really is what continues.
You know your interaction withthe wellness environment and
what you could do more of or doless of, or you know, and then
you talk to people like yourselfwho are professionals in the,

(19:14):
in the space that can reallyhelp people and guide them,
because I feel like that's wherea lot of people miss is they're
afraid to ask, Right?

Speaker 1 (19:22):
right.
So, and I think you know whereit's filling a niche that I
really love right now.
You know we've gotten into, youknow, bioidentical hormones, and
so a lot of those women are,you know, they've gained a lot
of weight because they've gone,or they're perimenopause or
going through menopause, have alot of, you know, people that
are overweight, obese, that areon the GLP-1s, and so when we're

(19:43):
trying to lose weight, this issuch a great option because a
lot of people just don't eathealthy when they try to lose
weight, they just try to cutcalories and they're not getting
those nutrients that their bodyneeds, and that's almost going
to do the opposite.
That makes your body kind ofwant to hang on to everything
and it makes the weight loss somuch, so much more difficult.

(20:03):
So I just love this for for allof those patients that are on
that wellness journey or weightloss journeys, because it's
really going to help them.
Yeah, absolutely, because itreally does.
It shuts off your hunger.
Yeah, you know, I do that withmy supplements every morning and
I usually then I don't eatuntil lunchtime, and it's been,
it's been a game changer for me.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
It's not one that really hurts your stomach either
.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
It's not at all yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
Not so many that hurts your stomach either.
It's not at all.
Yeah, not so many that hurtsyour stomach.
I've tried celery juice.
That is the worst.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Okay, I've not tried celery juice Juiciness, terrible
.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
The whole process is just miserable.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Okay, Well, let's just skip the celery juice and
just do our optimal human.
We'll just go right to it.
I love the rebrand.
I love all the goodies that youbrought us.
I love these little cards thateven you know you've got little
hints for people that this is aresistance band exercise workout
for people, so you guys arereally kind of trying to support
the whole human.

(21:01):
I love that concept.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yeah, absolutely, and we're coming out with so many
you know really fun things thatwe've seen this expansion with
you guys and we're coming out.
We're here, we hear everybody,we're coming out with stick
packs, to-go packs.
Those are all the perks which Iknow.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
I'm so stoked about that.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Yes For putting it in person.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yep, that was the one thing that the AG1 still had on
you guys is they had thoselittle packets that I love to
take with me when I travel.
Yeah, they do.
I'm ready for the sticks.
Glad you guys are bringingthose.
That's amazing.
And you brought up me a littlefrother today.
I feel so honored.
I love a frother.
Nothing better than that.
My kids, of course, are goingto take it and use it for all

(21:43):
their little little drinks thatthey make too.
This is amazing.
Oh, that's better.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
I'll just take it to the office.
That way they can't steal itfrom me.
Absolutely, that's even better.
So anything else that wehaven't really talked about.
As far as Optimal Human goes, you know, I think that this
whole wellness journey is verypersonal.
I think that you guys make itreally easy to come in, feel
comfortable, you know, get whatyou need.
