Hello and to all things travel.
Happy new year listeners.
Does the start of a new yearhave you thinking about
resolutions?
Does this include travel?
Today, we'll talk about sometravel resolutions to help you
vacation through 2025 in a moremeaningful way.
Listening with travel advisorsand destination experts, Ryan

(00:21):
and Julie, I'm your travelprofessor, teaching you
everything you need to know tohave a magical vacation.
And she's a Disney lovingMaryland, a mom of three and a
specialist in family travel.
Whether we're discussingincredible destinations, top
vacation tips, or sharingpersonal stories, it's always
All Things Travel.

(00:43):
Well, Julie, it is a brand newyear.
Welcome to 2025.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (00:47):
Here we go.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (00:48):
let's talk about upcoming things that
we're excited about for AllThings Travel in 2025, I know
what my top one is.
What

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (00:56):
I'm gonna steal it.
I'm gonna steal

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (00:58):
all you steal it and you talk about
it

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (01:01):
Okay, I'm excited for our very first
podcast cruise this July onRoyal Caribbean's Utopia of the
Seas.
already booked your room to joinus, That should be your
resolution.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_20 (01:13):
Absolutely reach out to us we also have an
announcement pinned at the topof our Facebook page You can
contact us on our website allthings travel podcast calm We
would love to have you with usand we have some really good
pricing for this group.
That's gonna have you excitedabout traveling on utopia of the
seas Before we talk about travelresolutions, if you haven't, go

(01:38):
back and listen to last week'sshow, because we talk about
family travel to Costa Rica, which is one of the hottest
travel destinations right now.
So Julie, we often talk aboutresolutions when it comes to New
Year's, but there's some reallyinteresting travel resolutions
that can help somebody vacationbetter, think about travel in a

(01:59):
different way.
So I thought today we would talkabout some of these and then
discuss which ones, do we thinkwe're going to be doing in 2025.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (02:08):
Okay, I think the first one is to make
sure you use all your vacationdays, right?

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (02:13):
it sounds so simple, but yet as a
country, and I know we'respeaking from the United States
and not everybody that listensto all things travel by any
means is from the United States, but people don't use their
vacation time.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (02:26):
Yeah, and I think that that is probably
only a United States problem,um, so focused on our work over
But it is so that if you havethose days off, please take
them.
And if it's a short amount ofdays off, couple it with a
weekend or a holiday weekend andmake the most of your time.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_2 (02:44):
Absolutely.
In fact, just a couple monthsago, we did an episode on how to
maximize a three or four dayvacation.
using those vacation days toyour advantage.
Use that time folks.
it's something that you workfor.
So use it or lose it The secondone is start a vacation savings

(03:05):
account.
So this could be something thatrolls over so that you're
accruing money over time so thatwhen it's time to go on a
vacation, you have it, orstarting to think about that.
Big trip that special bucketlist trip, start putting money
away because we know if you saveover time, it makes it so much

(03:25):
easier to pay for that vacationwhen it comes around

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (03:29):
I also want to urge you to think about
going to a new place on vacationwhether it's a new local
destination Or a new destinationthat's further away and a little
a little bit out of comfort zone

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (03:40):
I certainly understand that
there's, you know, familytraditions and places you like
to go.
I'm not saying don't do that, but think about taking a
different vacation or checkingout a different place.
I think you'll really appreciatethat in 2025 and to go along
with that I would say, do onething during travel.
that.
makes you a littleuncomfortable.

(04:01):
So you've heard me talk aboutthis, Julie.
You know, when you visit a newcity or a new destination, be
comfortably lost, right?
you kind of know where you are, you're not lost per se, but
you're, you're not necessarilylooking for a specific
destination.
you're just enjoying your space, but do something that's
uncomfortable.
So maybe that's a different typeof travel.

(04:22):
Maybe that's going to a newdestination.
Maybe that's going on a friendtrip with somebody that you
never traveled with before

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (04:28):
try learning some new words or
phrases in a language.
And maybe that's a languagethat's on your travel wish list
for 2026.
So in 2025 you start gettingready for that trip.
Maybe we book your big trip toItaly or another destination in
Europe.
or Japan, somewhere in Asia,

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202 (04:46):
traveling abroad, even just knowing simple
phrases, Good morning, hello,thank you.
I mean, those, courtesy phrases,if you will, makes a big
difference traveling to alocation with a different
language.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (05:00):
Mm hmm.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (05:00):
I want to talk about some more travel
resolutions that will make youvacation better in 2025.
But first, as always, I want totalk about where in the world is
all things travel.
So when I looked at newlocations this week, a new one
for us is Roanoke, Texas, andRoanoke, Texas is part of the
Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, andit's a small town.

(05:24):
it is known as get this Doesthis not sound like it's right
up my alley?
The unique dining destination ofTexas.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (05:32):
That's you.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (05:33):
Well, hey, listener, I'm going to let
you choose the restaurantbecause it sounds like there's
some great spots in Roanoke,Texas to have a good meal and a
good time and talk about travelresolutions.
So reach out to Julia or myself.
You can do that on Facebook.
via email or on our new website.
allthingstravelpodcast.

(05:53):
com I would love to send alittle thank you gift all the
way down to texas for beingfeatured on the show and if you
are a long time listener to allthings travel I think we'll
invite shane along too

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (06:05):
Ooh.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (06:06):
Okay, so going along with that, try a
new food based on the location.
So maybe you choose adestination because of the type
of food that you like, or maybeyou have a travel night for
dinner with your family, and youmake pizza together, or you make
homemade sushi, maybe you dothat kind of stuff.

(06:26):
They get you ready for a trip,or maybe when you come back and,
have new foods that you enjoy, you have a special meal based on
that.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (06:35):
Alright, so next I want to encourage you
to take that trip.
The one that you've been puttingoff for the past couple years.
Maybe you've been saving for it.
Maybe you've just been tryingnot to think about it that much.
But I know that you really wantto go to Italy, or Japan, or
Thailand, or Alaska.
So let's start planning it andget it on the books.

(06:56):
maybe you don't go in 2025, butwe plan it and you're going in

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (07:00):
You know, we always tell people plan
early, have it on the books soyou can look forward to it, you
can pay for it over time, youhave the time to plan.
Why not get something thatyou're excited about on the
books so this is a new one,Julie, try a different form of
travel.
So maybe, for me this year, I'vebeen taking more road trips and

(07:22):
have been really enjoying that.
Or maybe if you're in a placewhere you can do train travel
or, you know, take a ferry aspart of your trip, try a
different form of travel, justto get out of your, your mindset
and seeing the world in adifferent way.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (07:38):
maybe if you're not trying a different
form of travel as a means ofgetting there, you're trying a
different form of travel as inwho is traveling with you.
And maybe think about travelingsolo.
Maybe it's a local destinationif it's your first time going
solo.
But traveling solo, really youlearn a lot about yourself, your
interests, and it's just areally great way to

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (07:59):
really like when I take solo trips.
it just, to be honest, I don'thave to be on anybody else's
schedule.
I can decide when and how I wantto do things.
It doesn't mean that I travelsolo for the entire trip.
Maybe it's, getting there tomeet or, a few years ago after
our agency meeting, I spent afew days at a beach community,

(08:22):
just kind of decompressing bymyself.
it's having that solo time tojust relax and do what you want
to do and how you want to do it.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (08:31):
Mm hmm.
Yeah, that, sounds really lovelyin

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (08:35):
I know you're looking at me like, uh,
if only I could do that.
I'm like, Julie, I do this allthe time and it's absolutely
fantastic.
All right, so I really like thisone.
Um, start a travel journal, maybe a photo album, either an
online album or, or a realalbum.
Maybe you do a travel blog.
Maybe you like to talk about thebest, uh, Pretzel that you get

(08:56):
every time you travel or thebest donut on your vacation.
Why not try a blog with that?
You know, those are all over theplace or a youtube channel or
even do a travel podcast likeall things travel julie why not
just

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (09:10):
What an idea.
What

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (09:11):
Just start writing down your ideas
and it makes travel more funwhen you kind of have a focus we
have a friend at the agency.
He loves pizza So every place hegoes he tries the pizza and he's
had pizza all over the world, right?

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (09:24):
That's pretty cool.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (09:25):
this one's hard for us as travel
advisors, but let's talk aboutthis last travel resolution.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (09:31):
try a little less social media during
travel.
I know a lot of people travel toget that perfect Instagram shot
that they see and they want toget the perfect family photo,
But maybe take that photo andthen.
put your phone down.
You don't need to post it rightaway.
You honestly, safety reasons.
Maybe don't post so much duringyour trip so everyone knows
you're gone.

(09:53):
a little bit more involved whereyou are.
Be a little more present withwho you're traveling with, where
you're traveling.
It is such a pet peeve of minewhen I see people, are glued to
an iPad or a tablet or a phone,

ryan_2_11-24-2024_20204 (10:05):
There's a time and a place for social
media, and I like your idea oftake the picture and then post
it later.
You don't have to do that rightnow.
It's not going to change youryour post algorithm in any way.
get the picture, enjoy where youare, deal with it later.
So as we wrap up, Julie, whichof these are you going to try to

(10:29):
prioritize more in 2025?

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (10:32):
I'm going to talk about two.
The first is going to bestarting a vacation savings
account, Ryan, because if you'vebeen following all Things
Travel, I have been all over theplace.
in 2024.
And the second one is reallythat less social media during
travel.
I think that's something we canall implement on a daily basis,
but especially during travel, itfeels so much more fulfilling

(10:52):
when you're more present.

ryan_2_11-24-2024_202041 (10:54):
Well, I am going to take one of yours
and I am starting to put moneyaway specifically for travel,
both for my business andpersonally.
So that's something that as partof my business, because of the
types of trips that I love toplan and book, I am actually,
going to be starting a rivercruise focused YouTube channel.

k_1_11-24-2024_202041 (11:14):
that actually fits there with number
10, doesn't it?
you want to plan a trip to anamazing destination in 2025, but
you don't know how to getstarted.
As your travel advisors, we workwith you to create a customized
itinerary for your vacation andtake the stress of planning away
so you can focus on the fun andcreating memories.

(11:34):
