(00:00):
Hello and welcome to Allegedly, a pop culture podcast with a fast talking, fun loving mother

(00:16):
daughter duo.
Hello, hello.
What's your name?
Beth.
I'm Jordan's mom.
I'm Jordan.
And this is our first podcast.
We love pop culture and talk about it every day.
So why not record it and put it for everyone to listen to?

(00:37):
Absolutely.
Mother daughter bonding.
I'm excited.
I am too.
My little nervous.
I am too.
Okay.
So we are going to cover our top stories of the week and maybe a little extra.
We're not really sure.
Would you like to go first or would you like me to go first?

(00:58):
Let's jump right into Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift.
Perfect.
Perfect.
Part of me was like, maybe we should save the Swiftie talk for the end because I have
so much, so many thoughts about everything.
I have a feeling this is going to be a Taylor Swift podcast, which is why I was, I made
to tell you, we should probably have saved it for the end because I'm like, if people
are listening to this and we talk about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey for 30 minutes, we're

(01:19):
not going to get to anything else.
We'll cap it at a few minutes.
Okay.
Okay.
But this will get us going conversational wise.
You're right.
What you got?
Um, well, I saw that Mark Cuban is jumping in on the hype.
What did he say?
He tweeted.
Well, I think it's what X now not Twitter.
Oh yeah.
But everyone's still called it Twitter.
Okay.

(01:40):
So he tweeted, um, hey Taylor break up with him.
I've got a bunch of good looking single guys at play for the Dallas Mavericks.
I got you.
Did Travis Kelsey respond?
He did.
He just said, sign me to attend a contract.
That's hilarious.
So I can tend a contract is like 10, 10 games or two weeks, whatever comes first, which

(02:05):
is probably a correct ton of money too.
It's probably why he wants it.
That would be great.
I mean, I get it from Mark Cuban, like business and all of the businesses and I mean, everything
like small businesses and huge corporations are feeding off of the Travis Kelsey Taylor
sort of effect.
Oh yes.
But can we just talk about the TikTok trends of the wives saying there to their husband?

(02:31):
I have never laughed so hard.
It cracks me up.
These men are getting livid.
They are irate over this and they all say he is the best Titan in the NFL.
And I'm like, everyone says the best Titan in the NFL.
That's like their staple go to phrase.
And we're like, no, but he, she put him on the map.

(02:53):
Oh, that's cracking up through so funny.
Luckily, Braden's been really supportive and like sends me memes.
And we've been sending funny things back and forth about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey.
We can also talk about the insane amount of followers Travis has gained.
I mean, the Taylor Swift effect.

(03:14):
Literally Taylor Swift effect.
It's true, real.
And even the NFL is playing on it.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
And I think that they asked to use her music last Sunday during the NFL broadcast and they
were denied.
The promo for the game this week, the chiefs are playing the Jets and they're already using

(03:36):
Welcome to New York as the promo music.
So whatever was denied, I'm thinking she approved it this time.
You know, it's going to be so funny is if like they are just friends.
They don't even like each other or you're telling me, did you see the leaked photo from
the dead where she's in his lap?
Yes.
Yeah.
Also.
But she is a PR genius.

(03:58):
Also.
Tiktok.
Scratch my back.
I'll scratch yours.
Yes.
And she's already had a commercial with the NFL before coming up.
So Tiktok, a couple of people said that this could potentially be just like a PR stunt
and that they're going to do like a Super Bowl commercial together.
You've been doing all this for a commercial.
But that doesn't mean the relationship can't be real.

(04:19):
I did not believe it in the beginning.
I really thought it was a cloud chaser.
You thought it was a cloud chaser?
Oh yeah.
I did not believe the relationship in the beginning.
I thought it was a cloud chaser and I really didn't think she'd like him just because she's
been into like the skinny, you know, artistic white men.
Yes.
But I'm really excited.

(04:40):
She's changed and trying something new.
I think it's cool because I'm already, I could literally talk about this forever.
She's so outgoing and she's so outgoing and I think it's going to be great.
I'm loving it.
The Tiktoks where he's like dancing in the infield is so funny.
So funny.
He's he really is outgoing and I hope it does work out and she gets to be with like a big

(05:02):
man, not like a little skinny kid.
Small girl.
Yeah.
Big boy.
I even listened to the Kelsey brother podcast just so I could hear what they had to say
about Taylor being at the game, which I should have known it was a football podcast.
The first 30 minutes were literally recapping games and things I did not understand.

(05:25):
Boring.
And they talked about Taylor Swift for like three minutes, but Travis said that it's his
private life now and it's going to be kept private from now on.
Oh, please.
He's the one that's throwing it out there that he wanted to meet her with a bracelet.
Well, and then it worked.
And now he's like, oh crap, dial it back.

(05:46):
Yeah.
Cause she's not about that.
She doesn't want all that attention only when they break up and she can write songs.
That is not true.
You never saw her and Joe.
Joe did not want to be seen out and about with her.
He, she overshadows everyone.
He didn't like that.
He, they stayed together during the pandemic because they got to be like reclusive and

(06:08):
together and then she is a star, she shines and be jeweled.
She literally loves it.
So they didn't work out and now they can be be jeweled together.
Her and Travis.
True.
That's my take on the help.
I like it.
I hope they work out.
Me too.
And they seem like they would have a lot of fun.
I think so.
And I hope she's at the game this weekend.
So we get more glimpse.

(06:29):
Joe, they would just be sitting watching like sad movies and the PBC.
Yeah.
Okay.
All right.
Moving on.
I've got, um, Scandival update.
Yes.
Go ahead.
Tom Sandoval.
Such a dick move.
Started his podcast a day after Ariana danced on Dancing with the Stars.

(06:54):
Do you think that was like PR?
He did that on purpose?
Absolutely.
Did you see her revenge dress turned into her costume dress?
She danced great.
I met, I watched her.
I meant to watch Jamie Lynn Spears, but I didn't.
I'm only going to watch Ariana.
I don't even know who else is on the show this, this time.

(07:15):
Charity the Bachelorette is.
I don't know.
But I didn't, I didn't watch her, but I just, I know that.
Yeah.
I don't know her.
I think there's a football star, maybe.
I feel like Dancing with the Stars should have been canceled 15 seasons ago.
And Barry Williams.
Who's that?
The Brady Bunch.
The oldest Brady.
What's his name?

(07:35):
Greg.
Greg Brady.
Greg Brady.
The original Greg Brady.
And I could have swore he was on there before.
I could have swore he's done Dancing with the Stars.
I don't know.
Barry Williams, that's his name.
I can picture his face.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Anyway, well Dancing with the Stars, Jamie Lynn Spears and her partner, they're getting

(07:57):
death threats over Britney Spears fans.
That's a bit much.
Yeah.
I don't know if it's because of Jamie Lynn.
No.
But I don't think people should be, you know, sending her death threats.
No.
But this is also PR for her and she's, you know, trying to make her money.
Did you see whenever her book came out that it ended up on clearance for like a dollar,

(08:19):
a dollar store?
It did not do well.
I can't wait for Britney's book to come out.
I already pre-ordered it.
Do you think she wrote it?
I think she gave input.
I mean, I do not think she sat down and wrote a book.
No.
She probably did.
She probably did like the interviews.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Does it say by Britney Spears?

(08:39):
I mean, probably.
I mean, but it probably is a ghost writer.
Yeah.
She probably sat down and like told stories and they come up with a book.
That's what I would think.
Like Evelyn Hugo.
That's the first thing I thought of.
True, true.
Not like the story being the same, but yeah, the ghost writer.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anyway, back to Tom Sandoval.
Oh yeah.

(09:00):
He has a podcast now.
It's called Everyone Loves Tom.
Discussing.
Discussing.
Is that a play on Everybody Loves Ray?
I don't know.
What is that show?
I mean, literally no one loves Tom.
Is that like why it's supposed to be funny?
Well, the advertising of the podcast was his friend coming on.

(09:22):
He was like, Hey, I come up with some names and I'm going to throw out some adjectives
that we can use to describe that people are describing the podcast so we can use for names.
And it was like, Worm with a mustache, asshole, cheater, lying prick.
I mean, they had to know they weren't going to get anything good from that, right?
I don't know.

(09:43):
I listened to it.
So I am ashamed that I had to give my credit.
My, that's true.
Like you, my viewer credit.
The listening count.
Yeah.
Listening count to him.
But I'm sure everyone's going to listen to this first podcast, but it's with him and
his drummer, which I think is the same person who got him on Howie's podcast because you

(10:04):
know how he is, he was like friends with the manager or something like that.
His friends with some guy in the band.
So this is the drummer in his band, the most extras.
It's them two doing the podcast.
And then his best friend, Kyle Chan, I think something, something that was his friend
that came on.
And they talked about Scandival and he has the things that I took away.

(10:29):
He quit drinking and smoking cigarettes since April.
Also that his poor feelings were hurt when Raquel said that she was alone during the whole
Scandival.
And he said he cared about her so much and he thought about her every day and he just
wished her nothing but wellness, but he was hurt.

(10:51):
His feelings were hurt and literally believed nothing he says.
He's a worm with a mustache.
It was, and it seems like he, he really thinks that they could still be together.
Like he still has great love for her.
I don't believe it.
I don't either.
I don't either.
But he was saying how he was going through this dark period when Ariana, he came home

(11:16):
one day and Ariana was literally filming a commercial, the one where it was like the
batteries and the pins that are in the drawer and she, he said, I walk in and there's like
production and there's lighting and they're doing a commercial literally making fun of
me and I have to live there.
Like we still live there.
Six months later, they're still living together.

(11:37):
And she said, he, he said that she still won't make eye contact with him.
I just don't understand.
I don't get it.
And he was in the kitchen making dinner the other day and he came, she came down and
was opening like Amazon packages that she got delivered.
And he said it was such a change because she's not yelling and screaming and telling him

(12:00):
to die.
She's just coexisting now.
I mean, I guess that was, that's what's going to happen when you choose to stay in the same
house.
Yeah.
It doesn't sound like either one of them have any plans to leave.
They have both surely made so much money from Scandiball that why would they not?

(12:22):
He said during Scandiball, his endorsements dropped.
He got kicked out of filming for winter house.
And nobody wanted to hear his band.
So he said he had to go on tour because he could not make any money otherwise.
So he's, oh, and it was so, he just toots his own horn so much.

(12:43):
So disgusting.
He said that people would come to his shows and they'd be wearing t-shirts like wearing
with a mustache or a liar and they would like play, they would like record themselves
like flipping him off.
But then when they turned their camera off, they were rocking out to his songs and like
taking pictures with him.
Like they ended up turning into fans.

(13:05):
Have you listened to his band?
Just the clips on Tik Tok.
Yeah.
He's a cover band singer and he's got a nine piece orchestra.
It's weird.
He's got like a trumpet and a trombone and like a saxophone and it's just weird.
It's weird.

(13:26):
It's not normal.
Not a normal band.
And I wouldn't want to go see it.
But for him to be cashing in on a podcast right after her, it's not surprising.
It's not surprising to me.
But he also had that show just drop that like wilderness show or whatever with several
forces.
And I saw that he snuck a picture of Rachel that he was like showing other castmates and

(13:54):
you're not allowed to have anything, but he was like talking about her and then he loves
her and stuff.
Yeah, that's right.
Yes.
Because Nick Vile and Jo Jo Seabaw are all on this series.
And we watched it last year and it was really good.
It had Jamie Lynn Spears last time.
It had Beverly Mitchell from 7th Heaven.

(14:17):
Yes, okay.
It had a couple of the Real Housewives and it was good.
It was good.
Oh, it had a couple of Olympic people in there.
What's the premise?
It's obviously sea-less celebrities and they go through special forces training like Navy

(14:38):
Seals and they try to compete and then they like break them down, like tell them all worthless
pieces of shit you are and then build you back up for doing these incredible stunts.
I mean, it's scary looking like they're dropping out of helicopters and real Navy SEAL stuff.
Beverly Mitchell, I think she even made it to the end because a lot of people just quit

(15:09):
because they're going to ask how it's a competition.
Part of it's like a therapy session because they bring you in and tell us why you're here
and obviously Scandival is going to be like, well, I cheated on my show and now everybody
hates me and I just want to be better.
So they're like, okay, well, this is what you're going to have to do.
We're going to beat you down.

(15:31):
But Beverly Mitchell, she had a lot of body issues and she was like coming off of 7th
Heaven and like only doing like lifetime stuff and she's just not comfortable in her body
or in her skin.
Interesting.
Yeah.
So one of the things that she had to do was being locked in a car, a vehicle underwater

(15:55):
and then like get out from the seatbelt.
That was my biggest fear.
Exactly.
Horrible.
And she like panicked and they had to carry these big, giant military backpacks literally
bigger than her because she is like teeny tiny and she did it.
I think she ended up quitting and going home and I think Jamie Lynn wanted to go home to

(16:16):
her kids and she was just like, I don't really need this.
Like I'm not going to put myself through this.
So she's on Dancing with the Stars.
So now she's on Dancing with the Stars.
What do you got?
I feel like I'm talking a lot.
You are and that's okay.
Just because I don't know how to go.
Oh, big, big story I feel that is just okay.

(16:41):
Conspiracy.
Taylor Swift and Taylor Swift and Sophie Turner went to dinner multiple nights and the
pictures leaked and it was like the photo heard around the world.
Like it was a message without sending a message.
Well, since then Sophie sued Joe literally the day after she had dinner with Taylor and

(17:05):
then was seen out again with Taylor.
But now she is staying in one of Taylor's properties in New York while Sophie and Joe
are going through their like divorce stuff, the custody battle.
I want a friend that will just give me a New York apartment and imagine it being Taylor
Swift.
You're right.

(17:25):
So I wonder how Joe feels now.
I don't care.
Oh, are you team Sophie?
I am team Sophie, which I feel like it's very important to say I am a die hard Jonas
brother fan.
You are.
I was there in 2006 when the very first album came out and I just met Joe Jonas a few weeks

(17:48):
ago and you broke the news that he was not wearing a ring.
I did.
I did.
Literally.
I mean, someone hired me for something.
I don't know.
But so we met Joe at a PR thing for his canned wine that he like co-owns, which I happen
to be matching the stuff, the like prop stuff in the background.

(18:12):
Like I looked like I belonged.
It was really crazy.
But he didn't have his ring on and we went to the concert that same night.
He wasn't wearing his ring and then me and my friends mid-concert or like looking up
shows prior to when it disappeared.
And we concluded in that moment at the concert, something was going on.
And then because it was after that Dallas concert is when they were saying that he did

(18:36):
not have his ring on and then he showed up with his ring.
The next one.
Yes.
Um, I emailed Dumas.
Didn't get a response.
My friend, um, Megan has a friend who apparently converses with Dumas.
What?
And Dumas was like mad that she didn't catch it and that like fans were catching it before.
Um, so you're welcome for having broke that in my own like small circle.

(19:01):
Anyway, so Sophie Turner revealed a bomb shell letter that proves that she and Joe Jonas
were planning their forever home in England because a recap, Joe wouldn't let Sophie,
um, have the girls passport so they could go back to England with her because that's
where she's been filming her show and he's been touring in, um, you know, North America

(19:26):
and they had decided he was going to keep the girls because he's like they're during
the day, they're wake hours and they'd be asleep and you know, dad's just working.
Right.
Um, they'd rather have one present parent.
So they had already recently sold their home in Miami.
Do you remember when that happened?
Yeah.
It's because they were looking at houses in England.
They had been discussing moving there permanently.

(19:49):
So in this letter, Sophie submitted to like the courts, I don't know.
Um, and it said, and it's Joe wrote the letter.
So Joe wrote a letter three months before he filed for divorce and an effort to persuade
a homeowner to sell them their property in like Oxford, England.

(20:10):
Cause I'm like a Jonas brother.
I want to buy your house.
I guess like let me pay you this much money and let me have your house.
I'm a Jonas brother.
So it says when my wife and I decided we were going to spend more time in the UK and search
for a permanent home, our daughter expressed three unwavering requirements, having chickens,
a pony and a windy house.

(20:31):
A windy house.
Peter Payne.
Oh.
And maybe I was like, dang, it got me.
Big Peter pan pan.
Um, while many of the houses we viewed met this criteria, the moment we turned the corner
and caught sight of the charming blue shutters adorning redacted, we experienced a sense
of magic unlike anything we had felt before.

(20:51):
It then gushed about the 7.5 million euro state, which I don't know what your own T.
S.
It sounds like a lot of money.
Yeah.
And he was like, explaining that they found this, you know, beautiful walled garden and
can like imagine their children playing and it was simply heavenly.
Well, I can't imagine them only having one home.

(21:14):
They had a home in New York.
Um, New York was their permanent residence before Miami and they were like going back
and forth.
I would think they would go back and forth.
Even if they decided to like quote live permanently in the UK, they're going to have houses in
America.
But it's different with kids.
Like they wanted their daughters to go to school there.

(21:34):
The older daughter, Willa has dual citizenship, but the younger daughter Delphine is only
an American citizen, but they were like actively checking out schools for the girls to eventually
like go to.
So Joe was just not going to be around.
He was going to move there.
What do you mean?
But he's on tour and currently, but not like forever.

(21:57):
He was permanently going to be in the US meeting in the UK.
Yeah.
He really just talked about how great the house is and how much he just showing that
he was had intention to persuade this person to sell them the home.
Yeah.
Well, what do you think was on the infamous ring camera?
Oh, um, I saw, I'm telling you, Joe Jonas's team is just linking all these, these things

(22:22):
trying to persuade the people and the people are for the Queen of the North.
Yes.
I said that it was nothing bad, but enough to like break the counts back, like to beat
the final straw.
And I saw allegedly speculation that she was with her co-star.

(22:45):
I don't know his name, but whatever show for Joan of Arc, um, he was at the house and
he was upset that someone else was there.
But apparently she was bad-mouthing him.
Just complaining about him.
Yeah.
Just talking shit.
What wives do.
Which she probably didn't know that he, she was being recorded and all these things.

(23:06):
Oh my gosh.
Speaking of that, the ring camera footage is not like their own.
He got it from a neighbor.
Shut up.
Allegedly.
I mean, that's what people on the internet are saying.
So the neighbors recording their conversations.
So it was like the neighbors ring door camera, I guess, or something like that.

(23:29):
The neighbors house.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Well, I mean, I think wives talk shit about their husbands all the time and we, we, we
don't think we're being recorded.
You're right.
I don't think that's reason for a divorce unless, you know, she's like hooking up with
somebody and he can hear it.

(23:50):
On the rumor mill, they're saying that he is hooking up with like a 20 something fan
and that he's doing all of this to like protect himself.
My friend, Cora told me that there's also another like blind item rumor or whatever
that Sophie had to sign like an NDA before she got married saying she would not spill

(24:11):
any of the Jonas Brothers secrets.
And there's been a long standing rumor that Nick Jonas is gay.
And that's what everyone think it is.
Shut up.
Yes.
I mean, it hurts my soul to say that out loud.
What do you think?
I've been reading blind items far too long and they have got legs.
Like it could be true.
Yes.
Yes, I do.

(24:32):
It makes me, you know, very upset.
I would really like not to believe it and I really hope it's not true.
Um, but speculation him and Aaron Rodgers were connected and Aaron Rodgers is supposedly
gay.
Yes.
He's supposedly had beards.
What?
What about Shane Lee Woodley?

(24:52):
Probably a beard too.
I don't know.
She's not relevant.
The only way she was staying relevant.
Are there any gay NFL people?
Yes.
Okay.
Um, there's a few openly gay NFL players.
Not very many.
I don't know why the first person I thought I was called in from the back.
Me too.
Me too.
But I literally just saw something about Aaron Rodgers.

(25:13):
Wow.
Which this is me literally just not.
I have no legs to say nonsense.
Yes.
Because do you remember Jordan, his brother?
Yes.
Aaron is like excommunicated from his family.
Yeah.
Could it be because he's gay and nobody approves?
No.
Then what is it?

(25:34):
I don't know.
I don't know.
I feel like if he's gay, then I mean it's going to shock everyone, but I think his family
would be fine with it.
Do you?
Do you know?
Some, not everybody's family is.
I bet Mr. and Mrs. Jonas would be.
Absolutely not.
That's probably why they made him marry Priyanka and have a baby.

(25:55):
VS Arrogant.
VS Arrogant.
Absolutely.
Well, that sucks for Priyanka then.
I mean like, oh, there are blind items about her too.
She's not, she's not innocent.
Oh, she's a lesbian?
No.
Oh, no, no, no, no.
Um, she's just got her own.
Yeah.
There's a, there were like a lot of blind items in the past about her, um, you know, sleeping

(26:15):
with more like co-stars and, um, like being allowed to and that this is all like PR.
Like this is, it's just a stunt.
They're both just bringing each other up.
She's literally like the most followed like Bollywood actress.
Yeah.
She's a massive actress in India.
Yeah.
And she's trying to break here, which I don't know if Mary and Jonas brother was like the

(26:36):
smartest move for her, but not the gay one.
Well, the gay one, she doesn't have to do anything with.
I don't know.
Annie's 10 years younger, right?
Yeah.
Wow.
He's always allegedly liked older women.
That would be shocking if he came out as gay, but I mean, he has a very controlled image
and there's usually one gay one.

(26:58):
I mean, I don't believe it.
I really don't.
But like part of me does just because I read it on the internet so many times.
Wow.
It would crush me.
He might be bisexual.
He might have just experimented.
Yeah.
I do believe him and my own stars love each other though.
So gross.
Nile forever.
They were like 14.
It doesn't matter.
They were still in love.

(27:19):
Oh, no.
And they reconnected when they were like 19, 20, something like that.
Random.
You know, this is supposed to be like this week's pop culture, but here it is just everything,
I guess.
Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus were dating up until she was like filming the last song.
He literally went and saw her while she was filming the last song.

(27:39):
When he met, when she went, when she met and fell in love with Liam.
Wow.
Yes.
Crazy.
And then he wrote a song about it.
What's the song?
Wedding bells.
Oh, he thought he was going to marry her?
It was about like Miley and Liam announcing their marriage and like he couldn't, he couldn't
handle it.
It was very sad.

(27:59):
Wow.
He should call up Lance Bass and see how Lance handled it.
Secretly.
I mean, 20 years later, Lance is out and tick talking.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So a fun fact there actually is a NFL openly gay player.
Oh.
Oh, he announced his retirement.
See?

(28:20):
Carl Nazib.
Nazib?
I don't know.
First openly gay player to play in NFL games.
Announced his retirement.
Wow.
Wow.
How long did he play?
That's a good question.
Clearly not very long is what I'm assuming.
Okay.
Moving on.
Another story I have is the writer strike is over.

(28:45):
I mean, that's that last five months.
Five months now Drew Barrymore can finally come back with her show two weeks after she
got pretty much canceled.
That was crazy.
I feel like it was, it was kind of mean.
I don't know.
I mean, I, I don't know much about it.
Like I don't think she should have been back on air, but I don't think she should have
been attacked.

(29:06):
So well, the problem was she said she was going to come back and then she just doubled
down on it.
She was like, I'm going to come back period.
This is what I'm going to do period.
And then then she was like, okay, well, I listened to the people and so it's probably
not a good idea, which is weird because there were still like some shows on like some other

(29:28):
like the talk and the view, but they aren't, they don't have writers.
Like the, who's that political guy described to me?
He's cute.
Bill Maher, he doesn't have writers.
Okay.
So he could, he could still do his, but everybody else, like all the talk shows like Jimmy Fallon

(29:50):
and everybody, they have writers for those shows that he couldn't do anything.
Hmm.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
Hopefully the actors will come back and TV will pick back up.
Which I do feel like the actors are also in there, right?
I had no idea they weren't getting like any sort of residuals for these streaming services.
Exactly.
I watch the same shows over and over and then I feel like I'm giving money to these actors,

(30:15):
but no.
Well, I, we are recently watching Jersey Shore.
So we watched the Jersey Shore, which was like five, six seasons.
And now we're watching the family Jersey Shore family vacation.
They don't get any money for that.
Come back and watching it, rewatching it all on Hulu.
They didn't, they got paid what they got paid and that's it.

(30:36):
No matter 20 years from now, people go and watch it again.
They don't get the money for that.
That's crazy.
That is crazy.
They, they earned it.
They should.
Yeah.
Especially reality TV.
I mean, I mean, I know you.
I mean, I know you.
The actors, his movies are like being replayed and serve a little bit more.
Well, they get paid, I mean, to make the movie.

(30:58):
Yeah.
Like an upfront some.
They get an up.
Yeah.
They're getting paid like $42 million to make a movie.
No matter what these reality stars, they're getting $5,000 an episode on a high end.
And they're 14 episodes.
So they're making, you know, $15,000 for one year, but people are going back and watching

(31:21):
season one of real housewives.
That's true.
Literally 20 years ago.
Yeah.
Okay.
Fine.
You've convinced me they do.
They pay also, but I do hate that Bethany Frankel is the one leading the charge because
I just don't like her at all.
What does she say about it?
She's like, the housewives need to be paid.
She is trying to form a union.

(31:42):
She's trying to get the, oh, like a reality stars union.
I guess.
Yes.
Yes.
Which, which she's just shitting all over Bravo and Andy, which paid her from the very
get go and gave her housewives gave her her own Bethany show, gave her, I think she had
like three shows on it one time.

(32:04):
And then she went on to the, um, the one with Donald Trump.
What was that?
The Apprentice?
Yes.
She went on there.
She went on the Apprentice?
Yeah.
I think she went far.
When did that show end?
I don't know.
Wow.
A while ago.
Before he was president.
I'm sure.
I don't think the president was hosting the apprentice from the Oval Office.
But, you know, she got, um, you know, she's the only one that interviewed Raquel from

(32:30):
Scandiball and just trying to.
Why?
Trying to get her on her union.
Trying to.
Oh yeah.
Because she was fighting for more pay to be go back on for this season.
And Raquel did not get anything extra for that season.
Very upsetting.
Anything extra.
No matter, I mean, she, no matter what she did in her own life, we're watching it.

(32:55):
We're paying to listen to podcasts with her.
She should get some of that money.
Ariana, I mean, she's in a movie role now.
She's got like a sitcom that's coming out.
She was on a soap opera.
She's on Dancing with the Star.
She's got multiple endorsement deals.
Merged.

(33:16):
What did she do?
Like, what did she do?
Yeah.
She was the victim.
Well, that's, yeah, that's it.
She was the victim.
So everyone's like, support the victim.
Yeah, but we're watching the drama.
That's true.
I mean, they all, I think they all deserve to be paid for that.
They all deserve to be paid.
Even, even fucking Tom.
I don't like him, but he does deserve to be their drama dead.

(33:37):
Bring in those high ratings.
High record breaking readings.
Record breaking.
Shitty situation, but yeah.
Yeah.
So now Southern Charm has got their own scandal.
Do they really?
Yes.
I love Southern Charm.
It's probably my top reality show right now.

(33:58):
I love it.
That was with Shep.
Yeah.
Yes.
Well, Shep and his girlfriend Taylor, like Shep is a full blown bachelor for life.
I mean, he's literally like George Clooney.
Never going to get married.
He's a kid, 40 year old child, but he got this girlfriend who was 26, young girl.

(34:25):
They dated for two years.
He's never had a girlfriend.
Never told a girl that he loved her and he told Taylor, her name is Taylor.
She was a dental assistant.
He said, Hey, I want you to quit your job and travel the world with me because he's
rich.
He comes from a long line of money.
And she went on a world travel for like six months with him and she comes back and he

(34:49):
finds, she finds out that he cheated on her multiple times.
How they were touring the world within the two years that they dated.
And not, I think, I don't even know if he had sex with anybody, but he did like hook
up and make out and talk to and buy drinks for and flirted with multiple women.

(35:10):
And it made her look like an idiot.
And she would have stayed, but he was just like, look, I'm not going to get married.
I'm not going to settle down.
I'm not going to have kids.
This is it.
Well, his friend Austin became really good friends with Taylor.
So Austin and Taylor started dating.
Well, they have this obvious love for each other and it's about to come out that they,

(35:37):
if they hooked up or not.
Wait, like overlapping or just like, no, after, after, after they broke up, but still your
best friend.
Yeah, it's me.
And she spent the night over there and Shep was like, wait a minute, I didn't know about
this.
And Austin's like, well, nothing happened.
We could see, I could sleep in the same bed with her and nothing would happen.
That's the kind of love I have for her.

(35:57):
Did they create their own Scandival for ratings for themselves?
This sounds eerily similar.
Listen, I thought the same thing, but I listened to multiple podcasts and Craig was on, you
know, the chicks in the office.
Oh, chicks in the office.
Yeah.
Okay.
And he was saying that when it was happening, they shared the same producers and it was

(36:20):
literally soon as Scandival was ending is when all this came out with Shep and Taylor.
So it was just back to back situations.
And Craig said that if Scandival hadn't happened, theirs, their scandal would be way bigger,

(36:40):
but people have already been like, oh, yeah, we've seen this.
We know how it's going to end.
Yeah, we've seen this play out.
So it's going to be good season.
Wow.
I feel like Southern Trump was never like as big as whatever the show.
What is it?
Oh, the other one, Scandival.
Vanderpump.
Vanderpump.
Well, I think they have had ups and downs in both shows because a few seasons ago Southern

(37:08):
Charm had Thomas Rabinel, who was a, I don't know if he was in the Senate, he was in Congress,
or he was some well-known grandson of somebody famous in Charleston.
And then he got, what's her name, Catherine Pregnant, and she was like 22 years old and

(37:31):
he was like 40.
And then they went through like this multiple custody battle because she had two kids with
him now.
And she was like, he was trying to get her on saying that she was on drugs and she was
very irate, crazy person.
And then he had his own scandal hooking up with the nanny or sexually harassing the nanny.

(37:55):
So he's canceled.
He's been canceled.
She's not on the show anymore.
So I think they had their seasons up and down because before Scandival, Vanderpump was.
It was on the decline one.
It was definitely on the decline.
They had brought in a couple of different people and we're just like, no, this isn't
the vibe.
We don't know these people.
Something that, boom, shit hit the fan of Scandival.

(38:17):
Crazy.
Yeah.
I got a Tupac news from 1996, 27 years ago.
A man has finally been arrested today in the murder of Tupac Shakur.
How?
This guy has been on their radar since the 90s because he put out a book that he was in

(38:43):
the Cadillac with Tupac, when he got shot.
So they went and raided his house in Vegas today and took a bunch of computers, took
us some papers, took a vibe magazine that Tupac was on the cover of.
They think there's evidence in these?
Yes.
Yes.

(39:04):
Hmm.
So he described himself as being the last person to see him alive and witness the shooting.
So he's got to know something.
Wow.
So, you know, of all these murders that are being solved, like on the streets of Las Vegas?
Apparently, nobody saw it happen.
Yeah.
Exactly.
Yeah.
I mean, he's in the car with Shug Knight and then Tupac, I mean, this is like the height

(39:24):
of their career and he gets shot and nobody knows who did it.
Crazy.
It's a cover up.
A cover up.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
That'd be really cool if they, if they close this cold case after 27 years.
That's insane.
Yeah.
Justice for Tupac.
Yeah.
RIP.
RIP.

(39:44):
I have Britney Spears on my list.
Dancing with the Knives.
Yeah.
Britney Spears is dancing with the Knives.
Somebody check on Britney Spears.
So fans did call the cops and the cops did show up to her house.
I don't think they were even allowed to see her though.
She said that once they got to the gate and saw everything was fine that they left.
Yeah.

(40:05):
They didn't even see her.
I thought they did.
No.
The people at the gate said she's fine.
What?
Yeah.
The cops just feeds into like the whole conspiracy about Britney Spears.
Yeah.
And then she did post another video saying or.
She said that the Knives were fake.
The Knives were fake.
But she also had white bandages on her arm from a cut from Dancing with Knives and the

(40:26):
Knives like clanked when she slapped them behind her back.
That's scary.
I mean, who's dancing with Knives?
Like this girl, she needs, look, everybody wanted her out of this conservatorship to
free Britney and now look at her.
She's off the rails and needs to be protected.
She needs to be protected.

(40:47):
Did you see that her oldest son is now 18?
Yeah.
So, can better land like isn't going to be getting money for her to have anywhere.
And the, I saw that the reason why he moved to Hawaii is because the laws would extend
the child support.
No way.
Yes.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
What a scumbag.

(41:08):
He was sleazy then and he's sleazy now.
Yeah.
I mean, thank God for Kevin Federline stepping up and raising those two kids.
That's true.
Like, can you imagine?
And like pretty much out of the spotlight.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, can you imagine like waking up in the morning before you go to school, getting
on Instagram and seeing your mom dancing on a pole in her bikini bottoms halfway off

(41:30):
her ass?
I'm pretty sure they don't have like any contact with her because of things like that.
I'm sure people show it to them and say, Hey, I see your crazy mom.
Like, I'll tell you, he's so sad.
He's so sad.
It's when they have kids and then she's a grandma and she's still doing that.
That's true.
That's scary.
I mean, she needs to be protected.
I mean, what would you suggest being protected means?

(41:53):
She needs to be back under a conservatorship.
Is there a good way to have a conservatorship?
I mean, I think with the right, right?
I mean, I think with the right people, I think it probably needs to get out of the family.
Like I don't think your dad needs to do it.
Yeah.
I mean, he needs to be in his parents.
I think it needs to be an outside.
People are just so greedy and you can never tell who that's like the right intentions.

(42:16):
Yeah.
That's why he needs to go into like a trust.
I mean, she, she obviously can't do it herself, but her dad's obviously shady and that's true.
Can't do it either.
Her whole family is.
Yeah.
I mean, she's paid for them.
Are they her whole, her whole life?
Yeah.
Yeah.

(42:36):
My last story is Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
Do you remember her?
I do.
What was the show that they made about her?
With Joey King.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was on Hulu.
I don't remember the name of the show, but she was in a wheelchair.
Like her mom had Munchausen by proxy and told her that she had leukemia and told her

(42:58):
that she was paralyzed and even had her eating through a feeding tube.
And in the movie, she would try to stand up on her own and realize like she can stand.
It's a devastating story.
It's terrible.
So she was sentenced to, she pled guilty.
Well, back up.
Her boyfriend and her killed the mom after being like, Hey, I'm not sick.

(43:23):
I'm not crazy.
She's the crazy one.
The boyfriend kills the mom, but she talked him into it.
The boyfriend got life in prison without parole.
She's done, done for.
She pled guilty and received a 10 year sentence and she is getting out after seven years in
December for good behavior.

(43:43):
Didn't she get married?
She did.
She married somebody who she met through prison.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I think she's like 31 now.
Wow.
Yeah.
I wonder if she's still married.
Probably.
I didn't see that part, but I didn't say she wasn't.
So, okay.
She's getting out.

(44:04):
Yes.
And by the time she gets out, she will only have served 85% of her sentence.
I mean, that's a good amount for killing her mother.
Her mother made her sick on purpose, but the boyfriend's going to be life in prison without
parole.
Like he's, I mean, that's the rest of his life.
She should be in there for a little longer than seven years.

(44:26):
If you kill me, you didn't make me sick my whole life.
Like, I feel like the mom's crime was pretty bad.
Well, let the system deal with her.
I mean, now she's dead.
Exactly.
She don't even get to fight it.
It was a mercy killing.
She don't even get to defend herself.

(44:47):
Not that she needs to defend.
No, any kind of defense, but she could have got help.
When Talzin Barproxy is like curable and Gypsy Rose, she's a little gunbie out living her
own life.
Mom's dead.
Freely.
True.
I do feel bad though.
You're right.
But isn't the boyfriend or the ex-boyfriend who killed her mom like a little like mentally

(45:12):
unstable?
Wasn't he like, the show portrayed him as not being very smart.
Yeah.
He wasn't very smart.
No.
I mean, he got talked into killing his girlfriend's mother.
That's true.
That does mean she's a little manipulative.
Yeah.
And I just think she should have get longer than 10 years.

(45:32):
I didn't really disagree.
I actually, I'm glad she's getting out and going to live her life.
She got robbed of her life.
No.
Her mother got robbed of her life.
I mean, it's a sad story.
It's very sad.
Yeah.
I mean, Gypsy Rose is alive and well and it's going to be in society.

(45:58):
I think she might need some help too.
She hopefully she's, she's a therapist forever.
She definitely needs to see a therapist.
But that poor kid's, the boyfriend, like his family, like they had no idea.
Yeah.
That is really sad.
And he just like took off and met a girl.
It's very unfair.
Just because he, like if he, he should get out too.

(46:21):
Yeah.
She did the act, but she did like the, the conspiring.
Yeah.
She talked him into it.
She manipulated him into it.
Wow.
Well, she had like really big support after the show came out.
So I feel like that's what pushed this.
I think she'll be everywhere again.
She'll be on Dr. Phil.
She'll be everywhere.

(46:41):
Oh my gosh.
Just like Ed and Delvi.
Yeah.
She faked being a socialite and she's like a legit socialite now.
Yeah.
Like a fashion weekend stuff like that.
Yeah.
Wild.
And one of the housewives from Salt Lake is in prison with, is it?
I saw this.
She's friends with whoever it is.

(47:02):
Yeah.
Who is it?
It's not Anna Delvi.
It's the other one, the, the, the one who, I mean, a Cyphery played.
Yes.
Yes.
But she's in prison with Jen Shaw and they're like friends.
And Jen Shaw, um, swindled money out of old people.
Doing what?

(47:22):
Elizabeth Holmes.
Yes.
Elizabeth Holmes.
Jen Shaw bought lists of emails and phone numbers of the elderly and would call them
and try to quote, sell them.
No.
Like magazine subscriptions.
That's so scammy.
Or health insurance.
That's so sad.

(47:42):
Yeah.
But she targeted elderly.
Oh no.
Yeah.
Well, that's a great way to end this.
I think this is a success.
I enjoyed it.
I actually really enjoyed this.
And if no one else hears it, I'm going to replay it because I think we're funny.
I'm kind of embarrassed, um, that you didn't come prepared.
Clearly.

(48:03):
This has been the story of my life.
You've always been the prepared one and do everything for me.
I mean, this is practically you doing my homework for me.
This is literally the same.
This is me taking your driver's ed.
And then when my therapist hears this, she's going to be like, you really do have problems.
But now we know.
Well, look, I did this today.
I'm like, okay, at 3 30, I want to stop tick talking and I'm going to get on the news and

(48:26):
I'm going to write down stuff because I just knew you were going to have pages of pages
of stuff planned to do that.
I had like bookmark these things like in my brain, um, but not on paper, but the amount
of anxiety that I've had all week about this.
It's not so bad.
It's not so bad at all.
It is weird, like making intense eye contact with you.

(48:47):
I, I contact.
I know cause I'm like looking over here, over here and you're telling me all of these stories.
Like it's funny.
I know we're talking like we haven't read the news or heard these stories, but it's
what we do.
I like it.
Me too.
Success.
Success.
How do we sign off next week?

(49:08):
Tune in next week.
There you go.
Okay.
All right.
Till next time.
Till next time.
Let me check the table.
Meet you at the table.
Love you.
Love you.
Bye.
Bye.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
