Zaki (00:02):
Sacrifice, such a big
important word. But what does it
actually mean? Is it givingsomething up, or is it about
doing something for someoneelse? I bet prophet Ishmael
knows. He's the kind of guywho'd have this all figured out.
Take this pebble for example.Found it by the river. It's my
favorite one. So smooth, soshiny, so pebbly. Would giving
(00:27):
this up count as a sacrifice?
But why would I do that? It'smine. Or maybe it's about worms.
Like, what if I found thejuiciest plumpest worm and gave
it to another bird instead ofeating it myself? That'd be
pretty generous, but then I'd behungry.
(00:47):
So would that really be a goodidea? Oh, hello there, little
one. You look hungry. Here, youcan have my lunch. Anyway, back
to sacrifices.
They've gotta be something big.Right? Something really hard to
give up, or does it? I shoulddefinitely be willing to
sacrifice more to help otherpeople. Oh, man.
(01:09):
All this thinking has got mehungry. Still, I'd better go
find prophet Ibrahim and Ismail. They'll know what a real
sacrifice looks like. Come on,Zucky. Time to flap.
Meraj Digital presents theamazing stories with Zaki the
Hoopoe.
(01:33):
Episode 11, prophet Ibrahim andthe sacrifice.
My incredible friends. It's me,Zaki, your favorite storytelling
hoopoe bird. Oh, I've missed youall.
Did you know today's story isone of my all time favorites?
(01:55):
Yep. It's about love, trust, andhold on to your feathers,
sacrifice. Sounds big, doesn'tit? Oh, it is.
Here's a little hint. The storyinvolves a brave father, an even
braver son, and a moment sopowerful it makes me get teary
eyed every time I tell it.Parents, you might wanna keep a
(02:16):
tissue handy for this one. You'll thank me later. Today,
we're going to meet prophetIbrahim and his son, prophet
Ismael.
2 incredible people who showedwhat it truly means to trust
Allah and love each otherdeeply. Oh, and for you kids out
there, get ready to imagine anadventure with twists, turns,
(02:36):
and so much heart. Let's flapour wings and fly into the
story. A long time ago in aquiet desert, there lived a kind
and faithful man named Ibrahim. You might remember him from some
of our earlier stories.
Ibrahim had been through so manytests from Allah, but this one,
(02:59):
oh, this one was different. Yousee, Ibrahim had waited for
years years to have a child. Canyou imagine waiting for
something so long? Parents, maybe you know what I mean. A
child can change your wholeworld.
And when little Ismail was born,Ibrahim's heart felt like it
could burst with joy. Now kids, imagine this, a father who
(03:23):
always tells the best stories, who smiles every time you laugh,
and who loves you more than allthe stars in the sky. That's how
Ibrahim felt about his littleboy. Ismail wasn't just any
child, he was special. And as hegrew, he was kind, smart, and oh
so brave.
But one day, somethingincredible and very difficult
(03:44):
happened. Allah sent a messageto Ibrahim in a dream. In the
dream, Allah told him to dosomething Ibrahim could barely
believe. He was to sacrifice hisbeloved son, Ishmael. Can you
(04:05):
imagine the fear, the confusion, the heartbreak?
This wasn't just a regular test.It was the ultimate test of
faith. Ibrahim didn't understandwhy, but he knew one thing.
Allah's wisdom is always greaterthan ours. Even though his heart
ached, he decided to obey.
Parents, I know what you'rethinking. I can barely let my
(04:26):
kid go to sleepovers withoutworrying about them. And Ibrahim
was asked to do this. Let's justsay his trust in Allah was
unshakable. Now before we moveon, let's take a moment to talk
about something important,sacrifice.
You might be wondering, whatdoes that big word mean? Well, a
(04:48):
sacrifice is when we give upsomething we really love or care
about for something even moreimportant. It's like sharing
your favorite toy with a friendeven if you wanna keep playing
with it yourself because youknow it'll make them happy.
Imagine this. You've got thelast cookie, and it's the
(05:08):
biggest, yummiest cookie you'veever seen.
But then, you notice your littlebrother or sister looking at it
with those big hopeful eyes. What do you do? You give it to
them. Right? That's a littlesacrifice.
You're giving up the cookie foryour little brother or sister
whom you love. And for grownups, sacrifices can be much
(05:29):
bigger, like working hard everyday to take care of their family
or giving up something they wantto make sure you have what you
need. Ibrahim's sacrifice waseven greater. He was willing to
give up what he loved most inthe world because he trusted
Allah and knew there was abigger plan. Sacrifice is one of
(05:49):
the most beautiful ways we showlove, kindness, and trust.
Whether it's sharing your toys, helping someone in need, or
listening to what's right, alittle bit of sacrifice can make
the world a better place. Soremember, big or small
sacrifices always mean somethingspecial. And now that we know
what sacrifice means, let's seewhat happened when Ibrahim told
(06:11):
his son, Ishmael, about Allah'scommand. Ibrahim called Ishmael
to him. Imagine this, a youngboy no older than some of you
listening right now.
Ibrahim looked into his son'sbright trusting eyes and said,
my dearest son, I have seen in adream that I must sacrifice you.
(06:34):
What do you think? And do youknow what Ishmael said? He
smiled. Yes.
Smiled and replied, oh, myfather, do as you have been
commanded. You will find me ifAllah wills to be among the
patient. Can you believe that?If I were Ismael, I'd be like,
(06:54):
dad, are you sure about this? But Ismael was no ordinary kid.
He trusted Allah and his fathercompletely. The day came.
Ibrahim and Ishmael walkedtogether to a quiet place.
(07:15):
Ibrahim's hands shook as heprepared for Allah had asked of
him. He prayed for strength.
Ismail being the brave and wiseboy he was, looked at his father
with love and said, father, puta blindfold over your eyes so it
will be easier for you and makesure you do what Allah has
commanded without hesitation.Ibrahim holding the knife in his
(07:38):
trembling hand nodded. His heartfelt heavy, but his faith was
unshakable. So with tearsstreaming down his face, Ibrahim
tied the blindfold over hiseyes. He whispered a prayer to
Allah and placed the knifeagainst his beloved son's neck.
In that moment with his entirebeing, he submitted to Allah's
will, and he made the motion. And when he removed the
(08:09):
blindfold, what did he see? NotIsmail lying there, but a ram
placed by Allah in his son'splace. Ismail stood safely to
the side unharmed, his faceshining with faith and love.
Allah had accepted theirsubmission and replaced the test
(08:30):
with a greater reward.
Then a voice called out toIbrahim, you have fulfilled the
vision. Indeed, we reward thedoers of good. Indeed, this was
the clear trial and we ransomthis deed with a greater
sacrifice. Peace be uponIbrahim. What an incredible
(08:50):
moment.
Ibrahim thought he had lost hisson. But Allah showed him that
true faith never goes unnoticed. This test was never about the
sacrifice itself, but about thelove and trust between Ibrahim,
Ismail, and Allah. Wow. Wasn'tthat incredible?
Ibrahim and Ismael showed uswhat it means to trust Allah
(09:12):
with everything we have. And youknow what? They also showed us
how deep the love between afather and son can be. So, kids,
next time your parents ask youto clean your room, remember
Ismail's bravery. If he couldobey such a big command, you can
handle a little tidying up.
And parents, let's not forgetthe heart stopping moments that
(09:34):
come with trusting our kids.Maybe not as dramatic as
Ibrahim's test though. That'sall for today, my amazing
listeners. But don't fly awayjust yet. Next time, we'll hear
the story of prophet Dawood anda certain giant.
What could that be about? Here'sa clue. It's a real slam dunk of
a story. See you soon.
