Zaki (00:04):
Hey, wait for me. Oh, no, no, no. Don't fly off yet. I
need a stone too. Just a tinypebble.
Wait. Why are you all carryingstones? Is this a breakfast
thing I'm not invited to? Or ohno, is this an exclusive sparrow
meeting? I knew it.
You never let a hoopoe join inyour secret missions. Fine. I'll
just take one little stone andah, they're gone. Great. Just

(00:31):
great.

Captain Suhail (00:31):
Har har har. Oh, Zaki. You look like a lost
seagull in a sandstorm chasingafter sparrows, are we?

Zaki (00:39):
Oh, wonderful. The one time I'm not looking for a
seagull, one finds me.

Captain Suhail (00:43):
And I found you looking mighty ridiculous,
flapping about like a fish outof water.

Zaki (00:49):
For your information, captain, those sparrows were on
some top secret missioninvolving tiny stones. And I,
being the curious, investigativeand very important hoopoe that I
am, wanted in.

Captain Suhail (01:01):
Ah, I see. You've uncovered the legendary
Sparrow Rock cartel. Shadylittle birds, always up to
something.

Zaki (01:10):
I knew it. Wait. You're joking, aren't you?

Captain Suhail (01:14):
Oh, you bet your feathers I am. But I do reckon
something's up. Birds don't justcarry stones for fun unless
they're planning a massive gameof pebble toss.

Zaki (01:27):
Or maybe, just maybe, this smells like a story. And you
know what that means?

Captain Suhail (01:33):
Aye. It means you're about to drag me into
another one of your wild tales, isn't it?

Zaki (01:39):
Oh, you bet your beak it does. And trust me, captain,
this one is huge, bigger than anelephant.

Captain Suhail (01:45):
Bigger than an elephant. Now you're just making
things up.

Zaki (01:49):
Oh, my dear captain. It all starts with an army, a
towering elephant, and a tinytiny stone.

Captain Suhail (01:55):
Right. And I suppose this tiny stone changes
everything.

Zaki (02:00):
Oh, you'll see. Let's just say you you might never look at
a pebble the same way again.

Captain Suhail (02:06):
Zaki, nothing that small could possibly...
wait, you're serious, aren'tyou?

Zaki (02:12):
Oh, you bet your feathers I am. And so are the sparrows.
Meraj Digital presents. TheAmazing Stories with Zaki the
Hoopoe. Episode 22, The Year ofthe Elephant.

(02:36):
Salaam, my brilliant listeners. It's me, Zaki, your favorite
hoopoe storyteller, back withanother amazing tale. Today,
we're talking about somethingbig, bigger than my wingspan,
bigger than, well, anelephant's, trunk span. And yes,
that's a hint. Tell me, have youever heard of an army of
elephants?

(02:57):
No? Well, that's exactly whatwe're about to dive into. This
is the story of Abraha, a proudking with a big plan and how the
tiniest creatures changedeverything. And this story ties
into something bigger, a bunchof stories that we will be
exploring next season. That'sright, this season of amazing

(03:17):
stories with Zucky the Hoopoe iscoming to an end.
But worry not my brave flyers, this was only season one, we
will be back very soon withseason two. But enough about the
future, let's fly into the past.Ready? Set. Soar.

(03:41):
A long time ago in a city farfar Wait, that's a different
story.

Captain Suhail (03:46):
Alas, one of my favorite tales. I'm more

Zaki (03:49):
of a Rings fan. I love how the great eagles were the
heroes. Anyways a long time agoin the city of Makkah, there
stood the Kaaba, the holiestplace on earth. The very same
Kaaba that Ibrahim and Ismailbuilt from a few stories ago.
And just like before, the WellOf Zam Zam was right next to the

(04:11):
Kaaba.
Now let's see if you canremember what we talked about.
Is the Kaaba really Allah'shouse? Nope. Remember, Allah is
everywhere and doesn't need ahouse to live in like we do. The
Kaaba is a symbol, a place wherepeople can look towards with
their hearts and minds, it's areminder that no matter where

(04:32):
you are in the world, you'repart of something much bigger.
People from all over the worldcame to worship there, it was
the hotspot that everyone wantedto go to. But not everyone was
happy about that. Far away inYemen, there was a ruler named
Abraha. He wanted people tovisit his city instead of Mecca,

(04:52):
so he built a grand temple. Butno one came.
This made Abraha furious. Andyou know what he decided? To
destroy the Kaaba. If no onewill visit my temple, Abraha
thought, then no one will visitMecca either. Oh, Abraha, you
clearly didn't know what youwere getting into.

Captain Suhail (05:11):
I, nothing says come visit my city like
destroying a sacred place.Brilliant marketing strategy.
All these bad guys in all of ourstories were, how do you say,
feathers of a bird flaptogether.

Zaki (05:27):
I think you mean birds of a feather flock together.

Captain Suhail (05:30):
That's exactly what I said. Young beaks.

Zaki (05:33):
Now, like the captain mentioned, doesn't this remind
you of some other people we havemet? Guys who get mad, who get
jealous, who want to destroysomething? Can you say Namrud?
How about Pharaoh, the king andqueen who tried to stop prophet
Yahya, Jalut, prophet Yusuf'sbrothers. Oh, goodness.
So many bad guys who tried tostop the prophets and Allah.

(05:56):
They don't learn their lesson,do they?

Captain Suhail (05:58):
Aye, Villains never do. You'd think after the
first time someone tries tochallenge Allah and fails
miserably, the rest would catchon. Abraha gathered an army.

Zaki (06:14):
Oh, not just any army. He brought elephants. Huge, mighty
elephants led by a giant onenamed Mahmud. Together they
marched toward Mecca, ready todestroy the Kaaba.

Captain Suhail (06:25):
Now I'll give him this, bringing elephants to
the desert. That's thinkingoutside the nest. But here's the
twist.

Zaki (06:34):
As Abraha got closer, a wise man named Abdul Mutalib
gathered the people. AbdulMutalib was the leader of Makkah
and the grandfather of someonevery very special. Can you guess
who his grandson is? That'sright! Prophet Muhammad!
So Abdul Mutalib made a bolddecision. He told the people to

(06:56):
leave the city and trust Allahto protect the Kaaba. Can you
imagine walking away from yourhome and putting all your faith
in Allah while an army ofelephants marches toward you to
destroy everything. That'scourage.

Captain Suhail (07:09):
I that takes real guts. Not swinging swords,
not calling an army. Just trust. That's something, alright?

Zaki (07:18):
And oh, just wait till you hear what happened next.
Abraha's mighty army stood atthe edge of Makkah. The
elephants were lined up, theirtrunks swaying, their massive
feet stomping the ground. Thesoldiers were ready, swords
gleaming in the sun. And at thefront, towering over them all,
was Mahmoud, the biggest andstrongest elephant of them all.

Captain Suhail (07:41):
Aye, classic formation. Elephants up front
for shock and awe. Cavalry atthe flanks. Foot soldiers in
tight ranks. Standardbattlefield tactics, but
effective.
If I were leading this charge

Zaki (07:56):
Oh, so now you're a battle strategist, "admiral Suhail"?

Captain Suhail (08:00):
I've seen enough seagull scuffles on the docks to
know a thing or two aboutformations, Zucky. You ever seen
a hundred seagulls fight over asingle fish? That's real
warfare.

Zaki (08:17):
The horns of war were blown. And you guessed it, the
army of Abraha charged towardsthe Kaaba. Hundreds of soldiers,
horses, and elephants wererunning fast. They were going to
destroy the Kaaba.

Captain Suhail (08:33):
Oh no. Right. Well, let's see how Abraha's
perfect formation holds up.

Zaki (08:40):
But something completely amazing happened. As the army
got close to the Kaaba, Mahmoudthe elephant, stopped. He froze,
his trunk curling downward. Helooked at the Kaaba and was
confused. It looked like he wasasking himself, Why am I
attacking this beautifulbuilding?

(09:01):
The soldiers yelled and tuggedat him, but Mahmoud wouldn't
move. It was as if he knew thiswasn't just any city. This was a
sacred place. Then Mahmoud didsomething so awesome, I'm
getting goosebumps thinkingabout it. Mahmoud put his head
down onto the ground in front ofthe Kaaba.

(09:21):
Like he was doing namaz orsalat.

Captain Suhail (09:24):
The first rule of battle. Never trust an animal
to charge into the unknown. If Iwere leading, I'd have You'd
have

Zaki (09:32):
what, captain? Given the elephant a pep talk?

Captain Suhail (09:34):
I was gonna say retreat. Never fight a battle
when your biggest weapon refusesto budge.

Zaki (09:44):
And just as the soldiers began to grow impatient, the sky
changed.
First, a strange shadow sweptacross the ground. Then there
was a sound. It wasn't thunderor wind, almost like a
hurricane. Do you know what itwas?

Captain Suhail (10:00):
A dragon!

Zaki (10:02):
No, captain. There are no dragons in our stories. But it
was the sound of wings, not justone wing, not hundreds, no,
thousands of wings flapping allat once. The soldiers looked up,
shielding their eyes from thesun. There they were, tiny
birds, sparrows, swallows, andeven hoopos like me.

(10:24):
Well, maybe not hoopos, just thesparrows. Each one carried
something in its claws, a smallround stone. They didn't look
like much, but oh, they werepowerful.

Captain Suhail (10:35):
Now this is an ambush. The old unexpected
aerial strike textbook.

Zaki (10:40):
So now you approve of the strategy?

Captain Suhail (10:42):
Aye, if I were leading those birds, I'd call it
operation pebble rain. Wait, Ican think of a better name.

Zaki (10:51):
And then it began. The birds swooped down one after
another, releasing their stones. The tiny pebbles fell like rain.
But this was no ordinary rain.Well, I guess it was a storm of
pebbles.
The stones struck the soldiers, and oh, the mighty army began to

(11:12):
crumble. There was chaos in thearmy of Abraha. Everyone was so
surprised and scared. Littlebirds coming from nowhere to
attack. Horses reared up,soldiers fled, and even Mahmud,
the giant elephant, turned andran back toward Yemen.
Abraha stood frozen, his mightyarmy crumbling before his eyes,

(11:36):
not by swords or warriors, butby the tiniest of creatures and
the smallest of stones. Hisgrand plans, his towering pride,
all swept away like sand in thewind. The once invincible army
was no more.

Captain Suhail (11:51):
Tactical perfection. Quick, efficient, no
unnecessary losses. A battle wonbefore it even began.

Zaki (12:00):
So you're saying the sparrows were the real generals
here?

Captain Suhail (12:03):
Aye, alright. Alright. Turns out the best
strategies don't always comefrom big armies. Sometimes they
come from tiny wings and a wellaimed pebble.

Zaki (12:16):
It was over as quickly as it had begun. The birds,
victorious, flew away, leavingnothing but silence. The Kaaba
stood unharmed, a testament toAllah's protection. Abraha?
Well, let's just say he learnedhis lesson.
His pride and power crumbledinto dust. He returned to Yemen,

(12:38):
sad and defeated, and

Captain Suhail (12:40):
Ah, and I bet he never looked at a sparrow the
same way again. Or a tiny stone.

Zaki (12:49):
And so, my dear friends, the Kaaba was saved, not by the
strongest of armies, but by thesmallest of creatures. It's a
reminder that no matter howsmall we are, with faith and
courage, we can do incrediblethings. Wow! What an amazing
journey we've had this season! And now we've ended with one of

(13:10):
the most incredible stories ofthem all: the year of the
elephant, tiny birds saving theday.
What an ending! But you might bewondering how today's story
connects to all those prophets?Well, it does. You see, this
story is actually theintroduction of the last prophet
of Allah. This is just thebeginning.

(13:30):
Because next season, we'll diveinto the most important stories

of all. Season two (13:34):
The Prophet of Islam. It's the story of
someone who changed the worldforever. Someone who brought
light to dark times, taught ushow to live with love and truth,
and inspired people everywhere, including you, and even a hoopoe
like me. Can you guess who I'mtalking about?

(13:55):
I know you can, but shh, nospoilers. You'll just have to
wait and see. And trust me, myfriends, it will be worth the
wait. So until next season, staycurious, stay kind, and keep
those wings, I mean, your heartsready for more adventures.
Salaam, my amazing friends.
I'll see you soon in season two.

Captain Suhail (14:17):
Ugh. Waiting for the next part of the story.
That's the hardest part.

Zaki (14:22):
Patience, captain. Like I always say, the greatest tales
take time to unfold.

Captain Suhail (14:27):
I well, I prefer a good adventure that starts in
the middle of the action. Nowaiting around for prophecies
and destinies. Just give me aship, a daring mission, and a
battle against impossible odds.

Zaki (14:44):
Oh, please. The best adventures begin with an ancient
legend, a wise elder, and ajourney filled with trials.
That's the proper way to tell astory.

Captain Suhail (14:53):
I sure. If you like wandering through endless
landscapes while someonedramatically stares at a map for
three hours.

Zaki (15:03):
It's world building, captain. A slow, meaningful
journey to destiny. Noteverything has to be about fast
ships and loud battles.

Captain Suhail (15:10):
Fast ships, loud battles, and a last minute
rescue. Now that's storytelling.

Zaki (15:17):
We'll never agree on this, will we?

Captain Suhail (15:19):
Not in a thousand seasons, my friend.
