There was a rain storm in the Phoenix Metro area one winter morning as I drove to work. The day started out dreary, but the dog and I still did our morning walk as there was a break in the rain. The time it took me to get ready for the day was enough to let the next wave of rain showers sneak in.

The first below 80 degree morning here in Phoenix. While the temperature did jump back up above 100 degrees F, this small reprieve was well met. I grabbed a book and a smoke and went out on the patio to enjoy the warm, but not too hot breeze. Turns out the birds in the area had the same idea and I was serenaded for about 20 minutes. Late one evening, my wife and I were startled by some rather loud thunder followed shortly after by rain and heavy wind. The wind died down, but the rain came down harder. I managed to grab my phone and tripod just fast enough to get catch a lull in the storm that then magnifies in intensity quite gradually.

I love eating breakfast on the beach, specifically at Hennessey’s Taven just off the Hermosa Beach Pier. It’s technically part of the Strand, an area near Hermosa Beach that has shopping, food, nightlife, and more.
