Speaker 1 (00:00):
Martin Bingo players.
Speaker 2 (00:02):
We were just talking about how long it's been since
we've caught up, like two years. It has been way
too long. Welcome back to America's Dance thirty.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Thank you, Brian, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Dance counting down the biggest dance songs in the country.
This is America's Dance thirty.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
I know we're two weeks into the New year, but
happy New Year.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah, likewise the same to you.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Thank you sir. How was your New Year's very quiet?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I wasn't my family and went to bed like at
twelve thirty or something, so I don't go out anymore.
So I was my family. I love just being with them,
and I was so tired. I was done with the day.
I'm like going to bed early.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I gotta be honest. That sounds awesome. I did pretty
much the same thing. I mean, I went out to
see some fireworks and do some ice skating, but we
were back in at like one o'clock and a sleep
by like one p thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Oh man, this is nice to do it sometimes.
Speaker 1 (01:11):
Absolutely. Now do you do New Year's resolutions?
Speaker 3 (01:14):
I try, but I break them within a few days.
So it's like eating healthy and then a few days later,
I'm back unhealthy food or whatever. But I try to.
I try to, but I think you have to do
it throughout the year. You know, it's not just January first.
I try to do it whenever you feel ready to
quit smoking or exercise more, whenever your mind is ready for.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
It, absolutely, because when you're setting them as resolutions, it
just puts way too much pressure. It's something you got
to do throughout the year to better yourself, exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
You start thinking about it all the time, you know, like, okay,
it's been five days since January first. You know you
got to start counting way more. And unless you do
it like somewhere at random in the year, say I'm
going to do this right now my mind's ready for it,
then I think it's easier.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
I completely agreed.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:00):
I know you guys released Adrenaline the end of last year,
but I'm glad we can kick off twenty twenty five
with this brand new song, Congratulations on Adrenaline with Landis
and justin Case.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah, thank you, thank you. Yeah, we were working on
a record already like summer last year. So it's been
a while, but it's great to be to see like
catch up now so good.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
I can't wait to talk about how this song was born,
especially because it's one of my favorite new songs of
the moment. And like you mentioned, I saw the landis
posted that it's been being worked on for like two years,
which is crazy. But before we talk music, let's get
to know bingo players a little better with Finky's favorites.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Okay, I'll try so.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
So, I finally got to visit your homeland of the
Netherlands for the first time in my life last year.
Amsterdam was it's just so beautiful, but oh it was
just amazing. Now, granted it was my first ever European trip,
so yeah, I'm sure I would have liked it no
matter what.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
But yeah, Amsterdam is just gorgeous.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Yeah, yeah, I know. Yeah. I don't live in though
I live like two hours like more to the east,
close to Germany. But yeah, Amsterdam, of course, it's it's
a great city and it's a special city. Of course,
we played there a lot, like in early days, so yeah,
of course.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Well let's talk about the nether Lens. What is your
favorite thing to do in the Netherlands.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Being at home?
Speaker 1 (03:36):
You really are a homebody now, well.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
Yeah, I traveled so much. So the best thing to
do is to come back home, you know, after like
a tour or whatever. It's always good to be back home.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
That's so awesome.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Now, as I mentioned at the beginning of the show,
Adrenaline is one of my favorite songs of the moment.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
But what is one of your favorite songs of the moment.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Oh, I really liked the new one from Duck Sauce,
the Falling in Love, which samples Jackie Graham. I think
that's a really really cool record. So got a lot
of inspiration from that record.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah, I want to say they played that for me
when I was at Ade and yeah, I mean when
you got Duck Sauce, you're just guaranteed a great time.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Those guys are great arman and a track. It's such
a great deal.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Now, speaking of music, what is one of your favorite
EDM songs of all time?
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (04:26):
There's so many. I think that a lesser remix of
Nadi Ali Star Killers and Alex Kenji pressure there you go.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Yeah, that is an amazing song and I would have
never picked that one.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Yeah, I had got some good memories from it, like
playing it when we just started and playing the big
festivals at a certain point, and when you drop that track,
everybody went nuts. For me. That's just a special record,
I don't know, just stuck with me for all these years.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
And nadiy Ali is just so incredible.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I fell in love with her when I found out
I didn't even know what the time, but that she
was the vocalist for Rapture with IOH.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, crazy right.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Yeah, she is so incredibly talented. Now let's get away
from DM for a second. What is your favorite non
dance music to listen to?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah, a lot. I mean lately, I've watched the Yard
Rock documentary on HBO, So I've always been a soccer
for like seventies and eighties soft rock, so yeah, I'd
like to listen to that, like when I'm not making
electronic music, because it's something completely different. So stuff like
Dad Steely, Dan Donald Fagan, Michael McDonald, that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
And I always say that I was born in the
wrong generation because I love sixties and early seventies type music.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah. Also jealous of my dad who got to live
through that music. Absolutely, I'm glad he showed me that music,
so I know it. But you know, it would be
great when you're like in the seventies, like a teenager,
or like early twenties will be great, But.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
It's kind of like us growing up in like the
absolute amazing era of dance music.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
Of course, of course we will say the same to
our children and they.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
I mean, I'll say the same to my cat, but
I don't think he'll say the same back.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Now.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I saw just recently on your Instagram you were tagged
in some videos of you playing back in twenty fourteen
at EDC. The energy was just so amazing. Do you
have a favorite place that you've played?
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Wow, well for us. For me personally, like playing Ultra
in twenty thirteen with Paul. That wasn't like one of
my favorite shows because we went to Ultra like when
we were starting out and watching everybody play the big
festival and we were like, oh, we hope one day
we can play there, And the moment we were playing that stage,
(07:00):
we were like, yeah, we made it. So that's a special,
very special performance or a show we did. So I
think that's one of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
And plus it's got to be even more special because
that was kind of the beginning of bingo players, right.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Yeah, we were just blowing up in the US. So
getting a spot on Ultra, of course, is something you're
you're looking forward to or like dreaming of, and when
it happens, yeah, you're so happy and it's so surreal
to be playing there. So yeah, I'll never forget that.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
That's so amazing.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Well, finally, in Finkey's favorites in honor of adrenaline, what's
one of your favorite things to do to get an
adrenaline rush.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Not so much. I'm scared of heights. I want a
bungey job, I want to do parachutes or whatever. Yeah,
my adrenaline rush, I don't know. I like to run,
you know, like Jock. You get a bit of an
adrenaline from that, So that's the thing. But nothing really crazy.
Maybe roller coats down end, but that's it.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
I'm surprised you didn't say just playing in front of crowds,
because that is an amazing adrenaline.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
True, true as true as well. Yeah, that's that's a
better answer. Now.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
I know you're you're scared of heights, but I highly
suggest just one time in your life skydiving because I've
done it like eleven times and it is just so incredible.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
No, I'm.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Well, let's talk about better stuff. This smash Adrenaline. Like
I mentioned, I saw that LANDI is like started working
on it two years ago.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
How was this song born?
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Well, to be honest, he he sent me the demo
or like an idea sketch, and he already filled in
some of the sins and some of the chords, and
he said like, yo, you want to do a collapse
And I was like why not? So I did a
bit of rearrangement, add some stuff like the break beats,
but like I think seventy percent of the track was
(08:51):
already there. So Lendiz did most of the work, to
be honest, But I just like tweeked it and put
my vision on it. But that's how it became. Me
just sent me over the track the demo, and I
worked on it, and then we were like going back
and forth and a couple of discussions like maybe we
should rearrange this or turn this down, turn this up,
(09:15):
nothing crazy, and yeah, then we we released it.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Well, speaking of the back and forth, something I always
love finding out is how many different versions there are
of a song from when you start working on it,
all the tweaking to when you finally put it out,
when you finally got it, do you remember what the
final v was?
Speaker 3 (09:34):
Well, I have a bad habit of like saving every
time I change something, saving it to a new version.
So for me, it's like version ten and then twenty
thirty whatever. So I think we're over fifty versions for sure.
But like I said, every change I do, I always
say it because I'm always afraid that I have to
go back to one before. I think it's maybe some
(09:55):
kind of trauma from the past, because I had songs
where I just had two versions and then I couldn't
go back to the version in between, which I saved
over so and that back then it didn't do a
lot of auto safes like Ableton does now. So I
think it's just a bad habit, or maybe a good habit.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
It's definitely a good habit. You got PTSD though.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Now At the beginning of the song, she says, do
you think they'll know I wrote this song about them?
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Do you know who the song is about?
Speaker 3 (10:26):
No? I think just in case UH wrote it, so
I think they'll know who is who is it about?
Speaker 1 (10:33):
So gotta find out.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
I really, I really don't know I don't know now.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I saw Landis posting that he had met you a
long time ago, and it's an honor to actually be
doing a collab with you. Now, thinking about your career,
who would be that person for you, who's somebody that
you look up to that it would be incredible doing
a collab with.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Well, there's an obvious answer. For me. It's always deaf funk.
I mean, they're they're my biggest inspiration, but they quit,
so maybe alone with Tomas or whatever, it would be great. Yeah,
they're my biggest inspiration, so it would be amazing to
be with them in studio, just even just to hear
their stories.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Well, let's hope at some point Daft Punk comes back
and we can get that Daft Punk and Bingo Players collab. Yeah,
congratulations on Adrenaline. It is such a smash Martin, it
is always great catching up with you. Thank you for
your time with us on America's Dance thirty.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Likewise, Brian, thank you so much. America's Dance thirty Counting
